Beautifully Awake Lili Porter is a small town social worker forced to start over in the big city to escape her rural disaster. Chase Colton is a brilliant surgeon sliced by a memory so vile that his wound still oozes fifteen years later. Together they learn that only truth has the power to soothe when healing is impossible. Life is not pretty, nor safe - never is. This is a story of love, compassion and most importantly honesty.
Beautifully Done Battling lymphoma and staring Alzheimer’s in the face changes people. It’s why Asher Craig drives fast, flies high and screws hard. Talia Prince, a successful doctor, may have run away nineteen years ago, but has the ink to prove she never stopped looking back. Together these childhood best friends figure out that everything doesn’t have to be ideal to be beautiful. They just have to remember to live. This is a story of love, trust, acceptance and forgiveness.
Yep. That's an “s.” There are two of us! We’re East coast girls separated by Long Island Sound who met in Physician Assistant School and have been besties ever since. We can safely say that thirteen miles of water does not get in the way because we talk or text, no exaggeration, at least 150 times a day. No, really, we do—about everything and nothing. Shockingly, we never (we mean never) run out of things to say. Umm, ever. We definitely laugh A LOT and we’re a tad sarcastic. And if we’re being totally honest, one or two people might have, on occasion, used our names and ‘dramatic’ in the same sentence. But it’s hard to trust the sources since they married us.
It only took twelve years, two husbands, five kids, two dogs, and a two-week vacation in Cape Cod later to decide the romance world needed a splash of medicine. Write what you know. So you can easily find us at 4 o'clock on Bank Street beach with a glass of cold Prosecco brainstorming. And guaranteed if we bump into you, literally, it’s only because our iPhones are glued to our hands (totally out of our control) either writing or editing our next novel (and yes, it is possible to do from your iPhone, we mastered it … damn those straight quotations).
When we are not working on our book or reading the latest angsty romance on our kindles, you basically name it and we have it going on. Soccer, lacrosse, golf, swimming, dance, gymnastics, football, chess, baseball, basketball, skiing, ice skating, school, homework, and more school. Oh yeah, did we forget to mention our careers in medicine?
Needless to say, we realized fast that something had to go, so we opted for sleep. It’s completely overrated (yet so AMAZING) and delirium makes everything funnier. Good thing we share a brain and can pretty much complete each other’s sentences (definitely weird, we know), otherwise it might have taken us two years to write Beautifully Awake rather than one.
So that’s our story, who we are … just add AUTHORS to the list!
I read the first book in this set last year and I enjoyed reading Chase and Lily's story but I absolutely loved reading Asher and Talia's story even more (although the ending almost did me in!!) I don't want to spoil it by revealing too much. Beautifully Awake read almost like Fifty Shades Of Grey meets Grey's Anatomy. A sexy and angst filled romance between a neurosurgeon (with lots of issues) and a case worker (who also has lots of issues). Beautifully Done is a story of Chase's best friend Asher Craig and a former friend (and also bandmate) Talia Prince. Asher and Talia meet up after not seeing each other for nineteen years. Asher decides to do what he wanted to when they were younger and sadly didn't get the chance. He wants Talia to be a part of his life and starts to relentlessly woo her. Just when he starts to convince her they have a future together as a couple the past comes back to haunt her in a way that could be Asher's undoing. The secrets that come out effects so many people not only Asher and Talia but their families, Chase and Lily and some others as well. Read the book to find out the secret that was kept for nineteen years. I don't want to spoil it for you!!
This book had me from the first chapter. Dr. Colton living with a secret and guilt that will break anyone's heart. Lili is the perfect match for him. Very good story line, and very touching. I don't give out spoilers, but worth the read because you really get into all the characters, including the other doctors and her friends. But the story is heartbreaking in parts, and it will bring sorrow to you. I loved it!
These books are a must read! I fell in love with the characters, however the story stole my heart. My emotions changed throughout the books. I felt happy, sad, laughter, rage, heartbreak, jealousy, and more. Thank you Riley Mackenzie keep writing!
I loved these books! I liked Chase and Lili, but I just connected with Asher and Talia more, and the epilogue in Beautifully Done wrecked me! I won't lie, I cry a lot when reading, but it's rare when I am a sobbing mess like I was with this one. Beautifully written books!
I loved this book, it took me through all of the emotions, happiness, tears, sadness, love etc . The characters were like someone you might meet in your day to day life. Keep up the good work.
One of the best duets I've ever read, and one of my favorites! I loved reading about the friendship they all shared. I really liked how Chase and Asher's was so prominent, not just friendships betwen the women. Some times everything can go as planned, or so you think, then out of nowhere the unexpected/unexplained can occur. Unfortunately in medicine there is a lot of unknowns/unexplainable , a lot of "We're not sure/don' t know why's.". I was given cause to think it is true that Altzheimers research is focused on early diagnosis and treatment, but not so much on treatment during progression. I liked how you showed Maggie's desire to take care of her husband, even when it got to be to much. Also the guilt Asher felt living his live and not helping as much as he thought he should have. The loving relationships portrayed in this duet between the families, both by blood and by those chosen was very uplifting. The characters were flawed like the rest of us, but did the best they knew how. I was heartbroken that Asher died. And ironically of a brain tumor that his best friend couldn't fix. I would have liked to have read how his death affected Chase, and Tal and really everyone. I also would have liked to read about the whole pregnancy with Chase and Lil. I loved this whole big family and hate thattheirstory is over! I'm sure I'll have to read it again sometime! Thanks for an awesome read!

The way this story was written was fantastic. It made me angry at Chase when is deserted Lili after court then melted my heart when they got back together. In Beautifully Done my heart was warmed and broken and then warmed again. And although I cried at the end because Ash was my favorite character the way it was completed was truly Beautifully Done.
I loved this series. Not sure why I wanted so long to read it. I wish there were more books by this author, I really like her writing. So much drama, a great friend / family group and some twists I didn't see coming. So good and an emotional journey.
this could have been better for a whole book, bundle. but i know it was 4 people's story so it sort of complicating if written in a single book with many povs.
Beautifully awake... this was really BEAUTIFULLY DONE,!! What a great read. I loved Lili and Chase together but it took about a third of the way through the book to like Chase. The first 30% of this book had some rough moments for me.. But stick with it and what a transformation i had when i finished the book... I loved it and am going straight into Ashers story... Can't wait to get to know more about this hottie! Asher and Talia... This did not disappoint. Better than first book, and i would highly recommend reading them together as I did... This book blew me away, not what I was expecting at all. The ending was very emotional and took me by surprise...It incorporated family and friends from first book, and had a real "family" feel to it. It was warm, funny, sexy, deep, sad all in one... (My tissue box is empty).. I think these authors done a really amazing job and i would not hesitate to read more... Looking forward to Guys story.
This was horribly written. The concept behind it was descent and the characters were okay. But the writing was seriously horrible. I could not finish it. I don't know if they felt like they had to through bad words and insults into every sentence to make up for the horrible grammar and sentences. But I was appalled. I think they should both stick to medicine and give up the writing. I can not believe there were so many good reviews.
Originally I was going to give these books a 4 cause I loved book one but book two was dragging in the beginning but once it picked up speed OMG I couldn't get enough and the end, I am far, far from from a crier but I was in tears. Excellent series I recommend it 100%.
