Rate this book
Armstrong's Handbook of Human Resource Management Practice is the classic text for all students and practitioners of HRM. Providing a complete resource for understanding and implementing HR in relation to the needs of the business as a whole, it contains in-depth coverage of all the key areas essential to the HR function, including performance, reward, employee engagement and HR policy. This fully revised and updated thirteenth edition contains an entirely new part covering the increasingly important subject of international human resource management. Other new chapters have been added on rewarding special groups and on employment law, and the chapters on HRM, motivation and engagement have been completely revised. Armstrong's Handbook of Human Resource Management Practice has also been brought up to date by reference to the findings of a number of significant research projects and other investigations of how HRM operates in practice. Comprehensive online support material for the instructor, student and practitioner is provided, offering a complete resource for teaching and self-learning. Online supporting resources include
lecture slides, an instructor's manual, a student's manual complete with multiple-choice practice questions and case studies and a glossary of terms.

Michael Armstrong is a 30+ year veteran of the shopping centre industry in Australia, but his time hanging about in shopping centres began as a child when his father was appointed as the first Centre Manager of Phoenix Park shopping centre in the seventies, and then in his teens when he ran the family ice-cream shop.

He began his career leasing shops in Perth as a 20-year-old, rising through the leasing ranks to deliver multiple shopping centre projects, eventually rising to lead the retail leasing teams at Jones Lang LaSalle and Mirvac nationally.

He ultimately ran Jones Lang LaSalle’s national shopping centre business and Mirvac’s national shopping centre division prior to becoming a property consultant. Since then, he has leased shopping centres, helped revitalise The Rocks, and represented the government on the new Sydney Fish Markets development.

The Mall is Michael's first novel. He is finalising the follow-up, Siren, for release in late 2025.

He currently works as a Property Consultant.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley.
So, this copy disappeared from my iPad before I could really read it all thoroughly, (I skimmed parts hoping to go back, but couldn't) but what I did read was insightful and interesting. Now, this is a textbook first and foremost, so be prepared for a lot of info thrown at you, and definitely not in a sit down and read it all now kind of way. This would be at home in any course in college, and a good reference for someone trying to learn on their own or brush up on skills. I have been thinking of going back to school and wish I could have kept this to more thoroughly go over to see if this was a trajectory for me.

Väga hea, praktiline, lihtas keeles kirjutatud, samas piisavalt teoreetilist tausta. Käsiraamat heas mõttes.

A really useful resource for those within or studying HR. It has such a huge subject area broken down into chapters with manageable chunks and loads of guidance and facts.
