Biblical and easy to understand

It presents the biblical perspective on addiction. It's very easy to read and understand. Whether you are a counselor, pastor or lay person wanting to help a loved one, this book is a great resource to have.

This book is geared to family members of addicts but I would not recommend giving it to them in its' entirety. There are things that can be pulled from it but overall I disagree with several major tenets in the book.

This book was a very hopeful yet honest approach to helping a loved one through an addiction. It has very practical resources and examples, and comes from a solid biblical perspective for both the enabler and the addict. I will definitely be keeping this one in my library for future reference in my counseling practice.

This is a great resource for any family member or friend of an addict. Shaw walks you through basic biblical truths that should be influencing and directing the way we handle these difficult situations. The book is written in simple enough terms for a brand new believer to easily follow the biblical concepts at play, and he gives a plethora of additional resources for you to continue your studies. This book is short and to the point, and easy to get through in the midst of adversity.

For context, Shaw is a purely biblical counselor. He does not believe in secular psychology, and speaks against our cultures treatment of this devastating condition. If you have bought into secular philosophies, you will probably take issue with this book, or at least with some of his statements and recommendations. I strongly encourage you to take what he says back to the source, and look at what the bible says itself.

The back on the book is full of appendix's to give you practical help. Such as a put off/put on list, how to evangelize your loved one, example intervention letter, examples schedule, etc..

Overall a great resource for any ministry doing this work, personal or corporate.
