Milli Ann Sawyer is a tough country girl surviving the rough edges of Coalton, Georgia where meth labs outnumber churches and escape feels like a dream. By day she slings feed, by night she slings drinks at a juke joint that seems to never sleep.
One night of many, the infamous Mook Rawlins strolls in quiet as a shadow yet deadly as a snakebite. Running from the ghosts of his past, Coalton was supposed to be nothing more than a pit stop, yet an encounter with Milli feels like home.
When his past comes knocking and he's intwined in a deadly game, Milli Ann’s quiet life takes a drastic turn. And when the smoke clears, they have to choose to flee the fire or become the flame.

I was an okay read for me. The book kept repeatedly stating that Mook and Milli had so much trauma and wounds from the past but didn’t really elaborate on them to give an understanding of what they have gone through. Milli and Cody’s mom left for sixteen years and she comes back without any explanation about where she was and she just apologized and told them that she never stopped loving them so they accept her back in their lives. Not enough backstory for me.
Wow Boon was still messing up from the grave. I wish Cody would have said something before Mook found out on his own! Milli is better than me I don't know if I would have given my mother another chance after not seeing them for 16 years. Mook and Milli healed each other.
Love me a good country story full of country folks. Mook and Millz saved each other with their love it was a joy to read. Now I need Sable and Beau Dolla's story.
There’s nothing wrong with love at first site! There’s nothing wrong with loving an energy that you didn’t know you needed! There’s nothing wrong with wanting to provide someone the peace that’s is needed! Well let’s chat about it!
Mook! This man, I love down. The youngest of Rawlins brothers and definitely the one you don’t want to see coming! Learning the truth about his cousin Boon and the mess he was into and got Mook into is part of the reason he came back to his home town! Losing Boon the way he did was a hard pill to swallow. While coming back to face his past, he didn’t expect to fall in love with- Millie 🥰! From day one this man felt the need to protect her and provide her peace 🥰! Along with everything going on, he wanted to ride Whiskey in the up coming event to honor his mother! Let me tell you, I became so teary eyed! See I love horses and always have so to read the description of Whiskey had me in aww! Once that truth came out about Boon and Mook finding there is someone helping him, let me like 🫣! Mook may have been that silent but dangerous one, his name carried weight but he also needed peace and I adorned the fact that Millie was that for him.
Millie, my girl here was a survivor and had a peaceful spirit. She wanted no hand out and keep everything to self. Dealing with keeping her father legacy going, she felt alone. My girl carried the weight of the world on her shoulder from her dad passing, mother leaving her at an early age worrying about her brother Cody. However the moment she laid eyes on Mook, something drew her to him -an instant connection. Name to face made him interesting to her. I loved the fact that the connection scared her but she was willing to explore it to see if the whispers were true. When she looked overwhelmed and he stepped up to give her some peace for a night 🥰, I was team Mook & Millie! The way he was there for her when she needed it the most was everything.
Beau Dollar, this man. The middle brother is battie 🤣! Listen the way this man walked around with his protection like it was a purse had me 🤣🤣! Like it didn’t matter where he was and what he was doing, he had his weapon with him! He played no games when it came to his siblings. They into something, he into it with him. True definition of “my brother keeper”. Oh but when he meets Sable! He didn’t want to show his hand but there’s a vibe there for her!
There’s so much more I could say about this read here, but know I loved this book down. Love me a good cowboy read! They get me all the time 🤣! Can’t wait to see what’s next up from the author! !
Nook and Millie is the epitome of being broken. They both have endured so much stress and strife in their lives, that they thought they weren’t worthy of someone loving them. Mook and Millie closed themselves off to the possibility of love until Mook came back to his home town and Millie stole his heart day by day. Mook and Millie were both broken and stuck in their own ways, but they definitely found out that they needed each other to heal. I loved the way Mook and Millie’s story progressed into a real love story. Good book, and Mook is definitely a country boy and Millie loves him.
Omg this standalone is so lit. My boy Mook was a beast. He is worse than his brothers cause he's quiet with it. My girl Milli mind was going through a lot. But it pissed me off how their mom disappeared for sixteen years and then wanna come back. Both of my babies we're broken, but it took them together to put themselves back together. U did good on yet another book and I'm looking forward to reading more of them. Sitting here patting my feet while sipping on Pepsi and while eating popcorn while waiting on the next book to read
This was a slow burn walk-through healing. The amount of running that Mook and Millie were going through only to be from the same town and connect by chance. I enjoyed the character development and the story unfolding, and even the fact that it’s a slow burn being that there in the country. Sometimes all it takes to someone to actually see you and your pain while dealing with their own and you both holding on to something just for you that I’ll put you back together better than before!!!
This was the cutest read ever! I loved the way they came about.. I hated that Mook had to go through that because he couldn’t crash out on the person who desperately deserved it smh. Perfect ending! I hope you plan to spin back for the brothers 😩🤞🏽🙏🏽
Laawd Mook was playing NO games about Milli. He saw her heart and knew that she was it for him. Beau and Sable need help 😂 Brodie moves in silence and he's the most menacing of the brothers. I loved Milli and her brother Cody's relationship. It was so pure.
That was definitely a real country book. I love me some Mook! He is tough but has a heart of gold. I am so happy that he found love with Millz. They both deserve each other. Great Read!
This was a great read and makes you want to get a country nigga and go on a trail ride.now. Know I gotta learn boots on the ground. Keep up the great work
