OMG! I guess there will be a 3rd book. Even though there was still a lot of grammatical errors, I liked the book. This was another one that I couldn't put down.
Not as disturbing as Hush but this book was more to tidy up a little more of the story. Definitely fiction because I don't believe these poor abused girls and boys are used up and sucked dry of any reminisce of life and are discarded. There are more victims where these came from. The problem with Hushed in my opinion, was the very rich ending. Like a little more on how Jane finally got her "father" Mr. Parker and the whole crew turned over to "the Mob Boss", which I think a little more explanation of where he came from, out of the police raid. Or out of the police raid?? So I won't say whether this was a HEA. Do like I did and read the book but I know Book 3, Jane will be as far as I go because there are too many sequels to sequels and it's like cha-ching $$. Thank you Sandra for a very good book. It would have garnered five 🌟 except for the few Discrepancies in the storyline.
Very clinically written which means you font emotionally connect with the characters. The story line was also disjointed wondering how you got to certain points and worst of all for me was the continual use of the same word spelt wrong. In fact the grammar and spelling was bad through both books. Worth a miss
TBHOS BOOK REVIEWS A Review by Nicole S. Aviles Hushed by Sandra Raine/Devlin De La Chappa
I actually had the opportunity to discuss the series with it's author--and she knows my feelings. I rated Hushed a four, a long with Hush, but should note--I do believe Hush is a better work. Though Hushed may show growth in the writing itself (why I gave it four stars also), Hush was a better story. It's interesting to me, that while her writing improves, the storyline declined a bit in parts 2 & 3. I finally began DiamonD, and I do feel it's picking back up, with good potential. I also realize, Hush had a larger impact because it was the first in the series, and I felt it was bold and shocking. In Hushed, we are given the same candid, gory, shocking details of sexual exploitation of children--at its absolute worst. I felt part II was sort of mopping up though, especially the end. Parts of the story were confusing, and it became outrageous at times. While story one was equally as descriptive and shocking, the twists and turns were still more realistic--issues that the world does face, though often kept secretive and hidden from the general population. In 2, the characters are definitely just that--characters. We are introduced to a duo of monsters, Cain and Able, of course cleverly named after the biblical pair, whom are far worse than any of the other pedophilic child-raping, sex-slave-ring-running characters, in novel one. While the development of her characters has improved in creativity, I still felt more fulfilled with novel one. It just seemed more believable and the shock value was new, and raw, and made it gripping, and hard to put down. In two, it also falls short because it is a quick read, only 200 pages or so, and leaves many unanswered questions, and also, unbelievable circumstances. These girls escaping a true dungeon would be so near impossible, it makes the story sort of cartoonish. Bree--her little sister, is also brought into a more prominent role, but it's a sad one, as she too is molested, pimped out, and enslaved. Hushed is a decent read, but mostly filler, for part 3. All in all, I rate it equal, given the reasons above, and I'm back into being invested in the series, as I look forward to seeing where DiamonD leads us.
While this book was still very disturbing to read (especially with the ages of some of these girls), it wasn't as bad as the first book. It didn't go into too much detail about what was being done to these girls and for that I'm thankful. Just knowing there are disgusting people out there that think it's okay to treat other people as animals to be used for their own profit is unfathomable. There is a special place in Hell for those monsters. I'm glad Jane had a happy outcome after all she has been through. I will most likely read the next book in hopes of seeing her find happiness.
I read hush and hushed back to back in 2 days.. although a hard book to read at times, i have to say they are both very very good reads.... there were some misused/ misspelled words that I had to stop and re read asking myself, where was the editor? The ending left me hoping there will be a 3rd book.
This is the sequel to Hush – which I have also reviewed. The same comments apply, only in this book there does seem to be some hope of resolution at the end. There is no way the main protagonist can come out of this experience without being severely traumatized, but she might have a future, at least.
I loved the detail of the high point for Jane, just as she realizes freedom. And the great ending with an added tiny tickle to encourage continued reading for the next book. My hopes are that I will not have to wait too long.
This book is a 5 star epic read... I was totally captivated with the explicit drama, hardship and screwdriver of Jane to survive. I applauded the many her humanity, even in her darkest hour. Moving on to the final writings in this series - Jane!!!
Brilliant read, gripped throughout. Raine is a very descriptive author who weaves a plot with ease which holds the reader captive until the end. Will the story continue? I'd love to read another!
This world can be so cruel and unfortunately our children suffer.thing turned out well for the girls in this story there are millions that it doesn't end so well for
I absolutely love these books and they're affordable with the kindle download! Sandra Raines is a great author, looking forward to the rest of the series
