The wolf was the highlight of this 2OO years old tale and Poppy being the smartest pig made this book a special one for me.

A classic story about how hard work and good building materials can make a stable home. Nothing worth having comes by without some hard work. The three little pigs learn that maybe they should build their houses out of bricks to stop the big bad wolf.

A classic story that my two year old is fascinated by. He tells me we have to hide from the big bad wolf all the time!

Little pigs Pinky, Percy, and Poppy outgrow their home and set out to build their own in this retelling of Three Little Pigs. Along the way the Bad Wolf puffs his way through two of their homes before being outwitted by the smartest of the pigs that happens to be a confident girl, Poppy. This modernization of the classic tale is appropriate for independent beginning readers or one-on-one. With soft, silly watercolor illustrations, this is not as frightening as some retellings. Children will enjoy the familiarity of the repeated line,
“not by the hair on my chinny-chin-chin.” I like the introduction of a female pig that is the smartest of them all.

I didn't even know this book was considered folklore! It makes sense that it is, but I kind of appreciated reading it more this time by extracting the moral of the story. I don't know if this the exact edition I read at the bookstore.
