A fast-paced, suspenseful book with lots of twists and turns.
Kate Dean is a normal young woman living and working in England when she attends a friend's wedding where she meets Joe, a friend of the groom. The attraction is instant and quickly they move into her flat. Kate discovers a gun and passport with a different name and Joe's photo on it and confronts him. He provides a sketchy explanation involving military duty and Special Forces. Then a few weeks She witnesses him taken by authorities and is told he is being arrested for fraud. The police provide her documentation of his activities and she decides she has to move on with her life. However, a year later she receives a photo of someone who appears to be Joe and another man in combat fatigues.
Remembering some of the things he had told her she begins to double the circumstances surrounding his arrest and goes to the police try to locate Joe. Things begin to happen fast and it becomes apparent her life is in danger, and it is tied to her relationship with Joe. Joe has left her a set of clues to find him and she sets out looking for him not knowing the danger she is heading toward. The pace of this novel and an assassin tracking Kate who is busy killing people as Kate seems to come in contact with them. She travels from England to the US to find Joe.
This is a political, international suspense novel with heavy military ties to events that occurred in the Middle East several years before. Although it was slightly heavy in military/political terminology it seemed necessary to the story.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book and would definitely read more books from this author.

Great characterisation for the lead. We see a vulnerable woman who just needs to know the truth and utilises her investigative skills and the resources around her to get results.
A page turning, exciting thriller that kept me up way past my bedtime
