One of the most important things about writing a book is selecting the perfect title, so I'll be honest: when I first saw the title Just Rise Up! A Call To Make Jesus Famous, I thought the book was going to focus on evangelism.
While that wasn't on my current list of preferred study topics, I truly enjoyed my time in the first four books in Thomas Nelson's Inscribed Collection of Studies By Women, so I decided to request the book anyway.
I'm so glad I did. In actuality, Just Rise Up! A Call To Make Jesus Famous is a Bible Study about praise.
Just Rise Up! by Sarah Francis Martin is a Bible Study based on Psalm 145. The author states that it's her hope that, by the end of the study, we will all lead lives that reflect daily praise of Jesus.
There are a number of things that I like about this study, including the author's personal stories about her life, the journaling prompts, the prayer notes, and the highly interactive nature of the study.
The one thing I felt was conspicuously missing from the book was an actual copy of Psalm 145 itself. While I recognize that most people will want to read the Scriptures in their preferred translations, I strongly believe that whenever possible, the passages that are being studied should be included for reference because readers will not always have their Bibles handy when they are previewing or reading the book! Since the central focus of this book is one Psalm, that rule applies!
In spite of the somewhat misleading title and the omission of the Psalm that the Bible Study is about, I truly enjoyed Just Rise Up! and found this Bible Study very relevant to my life. While the book seemed geared towards a millennial audience, I think that there is something that women of all ages can take away from this book.

This book is an amazing read the way the Writer words her words and the ways it’s written it’s not just a book but a study , with questions
It makes you observe and think on things that maybe we haven’t seen before and things we have and leads us to healthy Godly ways to grow and learn from

Challenges & Encourages
This is a great Bible study that is rooted in the word. It challenges the reader, but also offers great encouragement.

I really wanted to like this book. I really did. The description is what got me so excited: "Many of us have felt the stirring in our hearts to make a difference with our lives, yet we don't always know how." That description fits me to a T and I was so looking forward to learning how to really dig in and find out how to hear what God wants us to do.
I never really understood the concept of rising up. I don't know if that's because I haven't followed her blog or if I missed something, but it was never really spelled out. The phrase is usually followed by something like "with integrity" or "for Jesus" and there are never any specific instructions on how to rise up, just that we should do it.
My biggest problem is the simplicity of the book. There are hardly ever any concrete examples. Sentences like, "I've learned to welcome hard times because my attitude has changed now that I RISE UP! for Jesus," didn't really do it for me. I felt like it didn't get the point across. In chapter 4, there is a snippet from a conversation with Lindsey, who felt called to God after a bad breakup. Because I could relate to the example, I felt that I connected more to the journal and was able to really think about the questions. I wish there would have been more examples like that one. Real, raw examples.
I didn't write this to bash the whole book, so I do want to say that I enjoyed the journals throughout the chapters. The questions made me stop and think about how I was processing the information. And, as I said earlier, I liked chapter 4. I felt more of a connection with that chapter (probably because it was the most relevant to me).

After reading a book review on JUST RISE UP~A Call To Make Jesus Famous, I couldn't wait to read it and I also wanted to befriend the author. Sarah Francis Martin has got it, she knows what the secret of true contentment really is and she shares her wisdom in her new book. I listened to the Inscribed Author Webinar this past week in hopes of learning more from this devoted christian. If we follow by her recommendations we will surely become the salt of the earth which the world needs now during it's dark hours. The writer challenges each reader to become totally selfless and to promote Jesus, her words "A Call to Make Jesus Famous". She addresses how we can find the courage by using scripture. Martin breaks down Psalm 145 to help us understand it's implications. I admire the author's passion for Christ. This book is much like a revival, the words excite you enough to get involved and put on the whole army of God. I feel so blessed that I was able to review this book for the BookLook Bloggers,

The layout of this book allowed for self reflection and pondering, and the author asked some great questions to stir the reader's passion to make Jesus famous. Basically, you get out of this book the effort that you put into it. The more you hunger to make Jesus famous in your life, the more you feed the hunger to know Him and display him. To sum it up, "Not I, but Christ within me."

Just Rise Up! by Sarah Francis Martin is a Call to make Jesus famous. This is a book that helps us surrender to God's leading and fulfill His purpose for our life. I think all of us, especially mothers lost in the busyness of daily life, can use a little nudge in this direction.

I’m a little biased on this one but I loved Just Rise Up! I read it alone but I wish I could have read it with a female small group. There are so many points that merit discussion that it would be been nice to read in community.

This is a book to pick up if you are needing some encouragement to jump into something full force for God. Sarah does a wonderful job of referring to scripture and having you process it through journaling and prayer.
