My love for Luca Slater is not unrequited. It's just…not requited yet.
Did I break into his house? Technically yes. And did I eavesdrop on that one tiny little conversation? Also yes. But I had good reasons!
Unfortunately, Luca does not agree. So while I fell for him at first sight, his opinion of me is dismally low, and it’s about to get lower. Because as of today, I am officially working at his office…as the new janitor.
Cleaning toilets isn’t sexy, and I am not cut out for sanitizer and scrub brushes. But I need this job—begged for this job, in fact—so I’m going to make the best of it.
When I see Luca is having some work problems of his own, however, and when I realize I might be just the person to help, I offer my services immediately. As the new branch manager, he needs help softening his image in order to win over his employees, and if there’s one thing I’m great at, it’s people skills.
If I can prove useful, maybe Luca will finally see me as a woman instead of a silly little girl. Maybe he’ll finally realize I’m the one he’s destined to be with forever.
So I’ll help Luca win over his employees, and while I’m at it, I’ll win him over, too. I’m going to do everything I can to make this man fall for me…
Gracie lives in a tiny town in Idaho, where she subsists on a diet of chocolate, romance novels, and kisses from her cute family. She may or may not have a cheesecake addiction, as well as an addiction to scribbling story ideas on whatever flat surfaces happen to be nearby. Clean romance, romantic comedy, and mystery rom coms are her passion.
I didn't read it, only the blurb. But from then I can already say it's not my cup of tea. I just don't particularly enjoy stories where women do the chasing. That simply doesn't appeal to me.
Also, even if the roles were reversed, I think there has to be a line of some sort to know when to stop pursuing someone, especially when it's painfully obvious they don't give a crap about you.
Anyway, that said, I just really need my MCs to exhibit a whole load of self-respect. 🤷♀️
I was very disappointed as this author has written some really good romantic comedies, but this one had so many cringe-worthy moments, especially in the first chapters, that I would never have bothered to keep reading had I not read her other books. Admittedly, none are as good as Beauty and the Beach or Juniper Bean, but this one has a number of faults which would have led me to give a one star rating had I not read past the first chapter. #1 Juliet is not only a beautiful blonde Barbie, but she is also an airhead dumb blonde who never finished college. #2 Juliet is the stereotypical youngest child who is overly protected by her family from all of her mistakes. #3 Juliet is so dumb that she thinks that stalking a man will get him to fall in love with her. There unfortunately was nothing funny about Juliet chasing Luca and inserting herself into his life. I felt as disgusted as Luca with her antics and the incredibly stupid things she said. For someone who was supposed to be smart with people she literally did everything wrong and SHOULD have been able to work out that he had no interest in her and was making it worse. Juliet for at least the first half of the book is an extremely unattractive lead character, and the grumpy grieving Luca is not much better. You can't make a man love you in real life: he either finds you attractive or he doesn't. Fortunately Luca always found her attractive, despite her crazy behaviour. It is not until towards the very end that there were any Laugh Out Loud moments for me. Juliet could easily have been a more sympathetic character for the reader to enjoy, there could have been some genuinely funny moments in that first chapter without her pulling such stupid stunts. As it stands, we do not get to see her sweet feminine glow and her sunshiny character with all of the crazy stalking. The first chapters are the most important chapters to hook the reader and capture their interest. I wanted to return the book after the first page and it did not start to get better until at least 60% of the way through.
ALL’S WELL THAT Friends WELL (Lucky in Love, Book #2) by: Gracie Ruth Mitchell @authorgracieruth
-I give 5 stars!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
~My love for Luca Slater is not unrequited. It’s just...not requited yet…
“Reality can be an elusive, hidden, fluttering thing-a moth, not beautiful enough to be a butterfly but worthy of grasping all the same.”
ALL’S WELL THAT Friends WELL, is Juliet Marigold’s delightful story, book two in the Lucky in Love series! This is a cute story stitched delightfully with endearing and flawed characters, who I simply couldn’t help relating to and cheering for. I thoroughly enjoyed the perfect blend of both humor and swoony moments, and then the unexpected and surprising depth that came about with this story! It completely held tight to my heart strings! I loved watching characters that took challenges and obstacles with a positive courageous approach, which allowed for others to be more positive and supportive. The message inside, that everyone is of value and is important, shines wonderfully in this dear story worth reading, my friends!📚🩷🙌🏻
“I’m learning how to shoulder my weight. My problems aren’t getting smaller; I’m getting stronger.”
•Content: past disordered eating (off page, non-graphic), recovery from disordered eating (on page, non-graphic), mental health struggles of a loved one (off page, non-graphic), past death of a loved one (off page, non-graphic), kisses only (some make-outs).
Another GRM book I adored so much. This one really took you on a journey from strangers to friends to lovers and it was intriguing to see Juliet be the pursuer. She’s a bit unhinged in her antics and that got to me a touch, buuuut it started becoming endearing and I liked seeing the switch up in this genre.
And I adored Luca. He’s the epitome of a grumpy character who has a soft heart underneath all of the gruff. I really liked his growth and facing the hard things and slowly seeing him break his control to let himself live a little. AND LET ME TELL Y’ALL, that first kissing scene lit my kindle on FIRE. Gosh dang it was hot y’all.
I liked Juliet’s growth a lot too. I understood and could resonate with much of her inner monologue and there were many tender scenes with her and Luca that showed the strength she’s been creating to find a new and enjoyable life path for herself. There were moments that made me laugh, swoon, and squeeze my heart.
I can’t wait for the next book!!
Overall audience notes: - Contemporary Romance - Language: none - Romance: kisses - Content warnings: loss of a loved one (recounted), anxiety
Ellen Quay and Eric Fox did a fantastic job of bringing this newest book in the Lucky In Love series to life. I absolutely adored the narration, as this story is so precious to me.
Juliet is the youngest, spunkiest, and most precocious of the Marigold siblings and I adore everything about her sunshine and sparkles personality, especially when she latches onto grumpy Luca. The way they clash is full of friction and sparks, and I couldn’t get enough.
I discovered new things to love about this story while listening to it and I just can’t love it enough. It was truly like devouring a beloved 90s romcom through my ears and it’s a quintessential story.

“I’m trying to get you to fall in love with me.”
Juliet Marigold is the youngest of the siblings and an impulsive force to be reckoned with. She’s sweet and lovable…and slightly stalkerish (in a non-threatening way, of course). From her first meet-cute/meet-disaster with Luca, she’s obsessed and determined to force him to be her friend–or more. In fact, she even devises a foolproof, non-stalker plan to become his Mrs and it all starts with a very hilarious eavesdropping session where she somehow FINALLY finds a job–as a janitor for his company. Who doesn’t clean in Barbie pink and heels? Actually…that might make cleaning a much more enjoyable task.
Luca is the grumpiest of grumps and does nothing to encourage Juliet, yet there is always is–under his skin. He finally agrees to being her friend and to allowing her to try to make him fall for her. It was so endearing to watch his walls slowly crumble under this bubbly, pink whirlwind and I couldn’t get enough of each and every interaction.
“‘I’ll be honest with you, though–I’m not certain I’ve ever had a friend like you.’ A stalker. That’s what he means. He’s never had a stalker.”
Looking for swoon? Laughs? A close-knit family? The most adorable grumpy/sunshine to devour? Look no further. Gracie Ruth Mitchell’s writing style and brand of humor never fails to hit the spot and I’m obsessed.
This story can stand alone in the Lucky in Love series. I can’t wait for more shenanigans from the Marigold family.
Content: mild romance

I reread via audio and I adore this pairing of narrators! Truly a grumpy/sunshine delight! Toss in Gracie’s signature knack for marrying depth with humor, some workplace romance, quirkiness, and plenty of swoon and you have Luca and Juliet’s story in a nutshell! I just love the Marigold siblings and cannot wait for the next two stories!

"Juliet Marigold is an experience. She's not someone that will enter your life quietly, be it as a friend or lover or even just an employee."
All's Well that Friends Well by Gracie Ruth Mitchell
Oh my adorable!!! Seriously, I loved this one so much. I really loved book 1, but I even loved this one more. Juliet and Luca together=cutest couple award!
Juliet Marigold is bright sunshine personified. She is a go-getter, confident, adores her sisters, loves to bake, and as soon as she laid her eyes on Luca Slater for the first time, she knew she was in love with him. I love how he helps her heal in ways no one else was able to do.
Luca Slater is as grumpy and surly as a person can get. And he has every right to feel that way as he has some very sad things that happened in his past. As I learned of his pain and heartache, I just wanted to weep for him. I love his transformation, healing, and growth throughout the story, with the help of Juliet.
I really adore all of the Marigold siblings and their dynamic. I love their loyalty to each other and how they rely on and help each other.
This was the perfect grumpy/sunshine! I laughed so much throughout. I even cried a bit toward the end.I definitely recommend this perfect romcom!
And...Ellen Quay and Eric Fox made the perfect duo for the audiobook! Their performance was outstanding!

Are you looking for an adorable enemies to friends to lovers romcom with all the sunshine/grump you could handle?
Gracie’s new book All’s Well That Friends hits the spot with laughs, swoons, and close-knit family moments while bringing a substantial storyline about grief and overcoming hardships.
Juliet is adorable she is bubbly, optimistic and a force to be reckoned with. When her disastrous meet-cute brings her face to face with stunned Luca she sees stars in her eyes. She’s sure they are meant to be so she is doing the pursing! Under her bubbly exterior, she has struggles that are not all rainbows and sunshine and I loved her journey. Luca under his gruff prickles just needs to be loved, and seeing his defenses crumble as Juliet chips away at them deserves all the 😍.
This is the second Lucky in Love book and can be read as a standalone. Thank you to the author for the arc to read and review
🫧 Release Date: July 14, 2025 🫧 . . . Gracie Ruth Mitchell never misses with her romcoms, and this one was so, So, SO GOOD, Y’ALL!! The characters were some of my absolute favorites, and they made this story so much fun! There were so many hilarious moments that had me giggling, but there were also some more serious moments mixed in, which I really appreciated. You can never go wrong with a Marigold family story, that’s for sure!
Oh man, do I ever adore Juliet Marigold! Her character was sunshine and rainbows and pure effervescent joy 💖 I loved her constant itch to bake and her deep love of all things pink and feminine! Her outfits filled me with unspeakable joy 😆 But…Juliet also had her deeper levels where she hid her struggles and self doubts; I so badly wanted to be able to give her a big hug! The time she was telling herself “good job” and “you did good” literally hit so close to home for me in my current situation, and I was definitely tearing up! 😢
Ughhhh….LUCA! I loved that big grump 🤭 GRM sure knows how to write an excellent grumpy/sunshine romance! His and Juliet’s encounters were all absolutely sublime and often had me smiling and giggling. I loved how forward Juliet was about her feelings, while poor Luca had no idea what to do with her most of the time 🤭 Watching her finally get through his hard shell was so beautiful to see play out!
Reading this book with its descriptions of the beautiful blue sky and crisp mountain air really made me miss living in CO! It’s really just one more reason I love to read the Marigold family stories—I get to enjoy CO again, even if it’s only through a book ☺️
My Favorites: 🍓 Comical emails and notes 🍓 Breaking and entering 🍓 Fashionable work outfits 🍓 The accidental sleepover 🍓 Telling off Quincey 🍓 “𝙸𝚏 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚛 𝚗𝚎𝚎𝚍 𝚜𝚘𝚖𝚎𝚠𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚛𝚎𝚜𝚝… 𝙸’𝚖 𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎.” 🍓 Five minute sharing time 🍓 Mirror affirmations . . . Thank you so much, Gracie, for allowing me to read an arc of your new book 🧡
Book Report: All’s Well That Friends Well At First Glance…A second in a series I LOVE, cover perfection per Gracie Ruth Mitchell usual
The Jist: A girl develops a bit of a crush on her parents renter, turned co-worker and has to navigate helping him soften his gruff approach at the workplace alongside a plan to have him fall in love with her!
My Thoughts: I get giddy when a new Gracie Ruth Mitchell hits my kindle and tend to start them immediately! All’s Well That Friends Well is the second book in the Lucky in Love series. I fell in love with these siblings in book one (All’s Fair in Love and Blackmail) and excited to be back with the gang! In this book we get Juliet’s story! From her love of baking, to her passion for teaching ballet her character is most endearing to me. I love her relentless attention/attraction to Luca. Her quips to always catch him of guard and is reminiscent to mine and my other half’s story. There is a rainy scene and I must say our 80° sunny weather deciding to take a turn for a drenched day really enhanced that moment in the book. You will crave peach cobbler and want to plan a wardrobe of pink outfits! I hope you pick up one of GRM and become just as obsessed as I am!
Notable: “Call me Barbie, and thank you in advance.”
“Then I look at Luca, because my eyes always find him when he’s in the room.”
“I’m already someone worth being.”
“Is love really so easy for you?”
“If you ever need somewhere to rest…I’m here.”
My question for Gracie: Juliet tells Luca she thinks he could use some romance novels in his life. What romance would Juliet pick out for him to read?
Thank you Gracie Ruth Mitchell for sending me an ARC!
Juliet is at a loss of what to do. She's struggling to find a job and is quite desperate to find "the one". Which seems to be almost every man she encounters. But a home invader instantly turned tenant may just be the solution to everything. Juliet is sunshine. Sunshine is Juliet. Everything about her screams bubbly naivete but she has layers. I can only appreciate her can-do-attitude and willingness to put herself on the line over. And over. And over. I think her opposite in Luca brought about such a great juxtaposition to her character. This book is funny and sincerely sweet and I can't recommend this series enough. Thanks to the author for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.
Hmmm. I’m being kind and rounding up to 3⭐️ but this is solidly 2.5⭐️. I was all set to DNF this book 30% of the way in because Juliet is a difficult character to like. You know she's not brainless or ditsy but she is full on stalking Luca. You are breaking into the home he's staying in, showing up on his doorstep multiple times, and flat out being aggressive in your pursuit of him. But it takes him telling you outright that you're stalking him for you to get it??? And, look I appreciate dressing for the job you want but showing up to be a janitor in a pencil skirt, silk blouse, blazer, and heels is not practical. It just shows that you are incapable of thinking things through things. And Luca is a man in need of therapy, badly.
But once you get into the meat of the book and chemistry starts to pick up between Luca and Juliet, it gets better. I enjoyed the second half of the book much more. Juliet gains self-awareness and Luca starts dropping some walls. There is a lot of self-discovery for these two and being super vulnerable.
I guess I recommend this book but it's got a * next to that recommendation.
I adored this story from start to finish! I found myself laughing out loud more than once at Juliet’s wonderfully chaotic antics—she’s such a lovable, vulnerable, and emotionally aware heroine. Her inner world felt so real, and I loved watching her relationship with Luca slowly unfold.
The romance was a perfect slow burn, full of tension and tenderness. Luca was such a standout character—his emotional growth was handled with depth and care, and I appreciated how the story gave space for his healing too. Their first kiss? Absolutely swoon-worthy. Beautifully described and timed just right in the arc of their relationship.
There were plenty of heart-fluttering moments—especially when Luca stands up for Juliet—and it struck the perfect balance between laugh-out-loud comedy and genuine emotional stakes. A fabulous closed-door rom-com that brings the swoon without losing its heart. Highly recommended!
When I need a book that is a mood boost, Gracie Ruth Mitchell is a go to author for me. I was so excited to listen to her most recent novel on audio.
Juliet is the most optimistic person about unrequited love I’ve ever read about or known. While I wouldn’t recommend her approach to everyone, I loved her for it and it was so entertaining to read. Juliet is determined to win Luca over. Their first meeting could not have gone worse, unless you also consider their subsequent meetings. You know when girls get together to analyze every detail between a friend and a crush? If I was doing that with Juliet, I’d definitely encourage her to move on. It’s a good think she didn’t do that with anyone.
I love Juliet’s happiness. She has some self doubts and insecurities, like anyone does, but she also loves herself and knows she is great. I loved that about her. I think that’s part of what eventually wins Luca over as well.
If you love quirky characters, hilarious moments, and lovable main characters, this one is for you.
This is the second book in the series, but it could be read as a stand alone. I also enjoyed the first, so I definitely recommend that one as well. I listened to this book in audio format and really enjoyed the narration.
I have no info about this book besides the author’s blurb… and I am just in awe by it. It’s almost like the author said to herself: “how can I humiliate my heroine in the most devastating ways possible?” And then she wrote this book. Truly this is proof that some authors just fucking HATE their heroines and maybe women in general.
Another cute one! I like India, the heroine from the first book, a little more than Juliet, the heroine here...and some of the workplace romance moments stressed me out...thus the 4 stars--but still a lot of fun! Looking forward to the nexts.
I liked the first book in the series. This one, not so much. Juliet has tried to find a job for over a year, and when she's offered a job as a janitor, she shows up in a skirt and wearing heels, which is ridiculous. Her interest in Luca Slater is to the point of too much, and when he clearly isn't interested, she doesn't give up, and he labels her as a stalker. I almost didn't finish the book.
This is a very cute and well done book my only problem with it was that the plot was kinda weird. She’s basically stalking him and no one thinks thats a problem?!?! But if you’re looking for a cute little read you would probably enjoy this! The chemistry was fantastic!
CONTENT -🤬: none -❤️: make outs, some light innuendo -⚠️: disordered eating (mostly past), loss (past), shame (very present)
I DEVOURED this book in twenty-four hours. Gracie Ruth Mitchell has done it again, y'all. She truly has a gift. Even within the first two chapters of this story, Juliet and Luca were coming off the page. They were so alive, their personalities so evident. This is masterful writing. As she always does, Gracie balances humor and so much heart and depth in this novel. (If you haven't read All's Fair in Love and Blackmail, you should do that now before this one releases on 7/14! It isn't necessary, but it's hilarious as well and you'll meet both of these characters.)
Juliet is a bit unhinged in the most endearing way! She knows what she wants (Luca), and she is tenacious and persistent and optimistic about getting it. Luca, on the other hand, cannot understand why Juliet always wants to be around him or why she always says whatever comes to her mind. They are grumpy/sunshine personified, and IT'S PERFECT.
Some things I freaking loved: -Juliet's breaking and entering -Juliet's email response to Luca -Luca telling Quincey off -when Juliet realizes she's basically been stalking Luca -THEIR FIRST KISS!!! -the sharing of secrets -the scene with the affirmations in the mirror *SWOON* -the relationship of the Marigold siblings (I LOVE THEM ALL)
Favorite Quotes: -And it's strange, the hold that name still has over me. Because it's only a name, isn't it? A string of letters, a jumble of sounds. But the feelings it evokes are anything but simple.
-"Should you ever venture to the supply closet, please let me know ahead of time so that I can find a mop bucket for you to sit on. I may need a bit to locate one sturdy enough to withstand the weight of your self-importance. Cordially, Miss Marigold"
-I'm too tired for this. I'm too tired for everything, always. But I have to keep going anyway, because I don't have time to stop.
-"I want to be friends." "Even though I'm mean?" I say dryly. She shrugs. "Maybe I'm a masochist." And although I try desperately, I can't quite stop the twitch of my lips. "Apparently."
-I pat myself on the back—physically reach over my shoulder and pat myself—because I think everyone should. Some of the hardest decisions I ever make happen when no one is watching. Things people would be so proud of me for—but no one ever sees, because I'm too scared to let them.
-Feeling love for someone is not the same thing as choosing them every day.
-His entire body seems to sag under the weight of—what, I don't know. Everything. And I want desperately to help him. Not to carry his burdens, because I can't, and I shouldn't. But to cheer him on, to strengthen him—those things, I could do.
-"You come in here too often. People are going to get the wrong idea." "Whatever those wrong ideas are, I'm all on board."
-And it hits me, with the force of a lightning bolt to the heart: Juliet Marigold needs to rest just as badly as I do. It doesn't matter that she's energetic and smiling and bubbly every time I see her. Beneath all that, she's stepping on demons to push those facets of herself to the surface.
-"And what about smiling? Am I allowed to smile at you?" I blink at her, my glasses still hooked over my finger. "Yes...? Why wouldn't you be allowed to smile?" "Because," she says, dead serious now. "As we've discussed, I'm very beautiful. But you're unsure if you want to fall in love with me. So I'm not sure where we stand on smiles—" "Out," I say, stepping to the side and yanking the door open. I point to the hallway outside. "Go. Out."
-"Be careful, Mr. Slater," I breathe, allowing myself to lean in further. "We're getting dangerously close to flirtation." Luca hums as his dark gaze skates over me. "And you're dangerously good at it, Miss Marigold." "I could get better." His lips hook into a rare grin, laughter in his eyes. "I have no doubt."
-But regardless of what shadows you're stepping out of, they still seem comfortably familiar compared to the glaring light you've been avoiding for so long—the sun that could burn you raw.
-I'm learning how to shoulder my weight. My problems aren't getting smaller; I'm getting stronger.
This book!!! Oh my heck! I loved it so much!! Juliet was the cutest, happiest, boldest character and I adored her for it! Luca was grumpy, stand-offish, a little bit protective, and a lot unable to withstand Juliet and her persistence!
When Juliet and Luca meet for the first time (after he was knocked out with a frying pan) she is instantly in love! Luca, however, is more than happy to stay as far away as possible from Juliet. When his boss, Rodney, hire Juliet as a janitor at Explore it seems as if Luca will never be able to keep his distance, mostly because Juliet won’t let him!
Oh my gosh! These two!!!! Juliet may look like Barbie on the outside, but she struggles with some inner demons from her past considering her body image. I loved how she was unapologetically herself! I cracked up at her persistence and how forward she was in pursuing Luca! That girl knows how to get what she wants!
Luca was the biggest grump, but I loved him! His insistence of staying away from Juliet made her tactics that much more entertaining! And I loved how, with Juliet’s help, he was able to make positive changes in himself at work and in his personal life.
Favorite quotes:
“If something is happening in my sisters’ love lives, I want to know. I want to be the first to know. I want to cheer them on and giggle and kick my feet and dissect every word of every conversation with them. I want to help them get ready for dates. I want to do their hair. I want to watch them fall in love with abandon, reckless and bright and glowing. I want those things for them.”
“So here’s the thing. I’m not a major eavesdropper or whatever. But…I have been known to snoop in my day. Just a little bit! Just a tiny little bit. And is it even really eavesdropping if you’re walking past a window and you hear what people are talking about inside? It’s not, is it? I can’t control what my ears pick up on, you know?”
“He is shirtless. I repeat: Luca Slater is shirtless. He is without a shirt, and there are abs and shoulders on display, and I might start drooling—“
“I’ll kiss you. Right here, in this office, I’ll put on my pinkest lipstick and kiss you.” My pulse leaps, but I just raise my brows at her, leaning back in my chair and folding my arms. “That sounds like harassment, Miss Marigold.” Her eyes sparkle as she looks down at me. “I think what you mean is Don’t threaten me with a good time, Miss Marigold.”
* What’s with the breaking and entering in these books? 😂 * These two are so funny. Juliet is so funny 😂 * I am CACKLING * He let her fall?! * The gasp I just gusped 😂 * How smooth, Luca hahaha * The AUDACITY * I love how tender she is with him * NOT THE GLASSES COMING OFF * Awww 🥺 * Oh, this poor, dear man * Yesss
This story was so good! I adored Juliet right from the start. She was bubbly and happy and kind, despite the hard things from her past. The deeper themes in this book were explored so well, and I definitely teared up a few times.
Like I said, Juliet was an absolute delight. She was funny and 100% herself, and I loved it. She sees the good in everyone around her, and especially in Luca.
“I think what you mean is ‘don’t threaten me with a good time Ms. Marigold.’”
Luca was so gruff and grumpy, but I loved watching him soften as he let Juliet—and joy—into his life. They balanced each other so well. And Luca once he started letting his walls down? 🔥
“I could adore her.”
Basically, this book was so good, and I absolutely recommend it! The narration was also very well done and I enjoyed that as well.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the audiobook. All opinions are my own.
I really want to like this, but I just can't... had to DNF around 61%. So I made it past their first kiss and their secrets. There are some good quotes, and good dialogues, giving credit where its due.
First off, I really like Juliet, bubbly, Barbie-like, free, full of love. Just because she's pretty doesn't mean she doesn't have anxiety, a recovering eating disorder young person that did not do well at school. Luca, straight lace, guilt-ridden, glasses wearing grumpy.
In theory, it's a great story, grumpy X sunshine. He has family friend that treats him and guide him. She has great siblings that supports her but doesn't baby her. So much so that I'd like Juliet so much and wanted her to win.
That said, her ways of throwing herself at Luca is cringy. Time again, she get herself in front of him, and even Luca pointed it out. Had it been a man doing it, you would've think that they are a creep. And that's exactly what I got. She is smart, she might not have a degree to proof it, but she's not stupid. She's hard working, and pretty.... but kept throwing yourself at a guy time and time, and time again. Have some dignity, woman!
Sigh... I wanted to like this so much, but alas cannot do it. Sorry. :( Thanks NetGalley & Dreamscape Select for the ARC.
This book was cute too but I didn't love it as much as the first one in the series. My biggest problem with this one was that I could not for the life of me figure out the main female character. Like sometimes she was the most annoying human I have ever met. She was all sunshine and roses and yet she cried like every five seconds. I don't know, I just couldn't get a handle on her. I don't think I have ever a met a person like her in my whole life. She somehow grew on me though and the story was sweet and fun. There were parts of this one that made me tear up a bit too. I liked it.
I am always looking for a good clean rom com and this one was a fun read! I enjoyed many of the antics and I appreciated the mental health rep and felt it was handled with care! I did think Juliette was a bit over the top and some of her actions were a tad creepy/stalkery. Over all, I did have a good time with this one but do think our FMC should be dialed back a tad. -clean rom com -grumpy sunshine -mental health rep -workplace romance
Im 50/50 on this one. Almost to the percentage too. I LOVED the 2nd half. Juliette and Luca were very sweetly a perfect match. They supported each other exactly how they needed. And I appreciated Luca’s experience working through his grief. BUT in the beginning SHE STALKED HIM AND BROKE INTO HIS HOUSE???!!! But she’s cute so it’s fine? And he’s renting her parents’ house which she was a way to try to make it okay? I really loved that the fmc was the one doing the chasing. We don’t get to see that too often, but can we do that without making her a criminal please???? I get what the purpose of the breaking and entering was, so I can kind of look past it. It just felt a little too far.
I really enjoyed this audiobook. It was a quick, easy read. It’s a dual POV and both narrators did an amazing job! Thank you Netgalley and Gracie Ruth Mitchell for this audiobook ARC!
This book was so unique and felt so fresh! In true Gracie Ruth Mitchell fashion, this story was filled with heart & emotion, life & learning, and love & laughter. I love her writing and how she incorporates all of these elements.
You know that moment in Miss Congeniality when Sandra Bullock starts singing, “You think I’m gorgeous. You want to kiss me. You want to hug me…”? I thought of that so many times while reading this book. This is totally the vibe Juliet puts off—and sometimes the actual words she uses. She is bold and confident and is not afraid to go for what she wants.
There are some books that make you crazy with all the miscommunication, but Juliet made sure to ALWAYS communicate what she thought and what she wanted. Even if it was embarrassing and made her or Luca blush.
Juliet seems completely confident and Barbie perfect, but it was good to see her thoughts and know that there was so much more going on in her head than it appeared. I thought she was so fun and absolutely hilarious!
I was so glad to have Luca’s POV as well and to watch as Juliet helped him battle his demons with her sunshine. I loved the banter between the two and I highlighted SO many lines and paragraphs.
There are some heavy topics addressed but it was handled so well and mixed perfectly with the romance and humor to make it still feel like a light, uplifting book. I loved the theme of finding and internalizing your self worth.
I really enjoyed seeing India and Felix from the first book. I love the Marigold family and can’t wait for the rest of their stories!
“If we are dating I’m getting to know you, your insides, not your outsides”
Okay this book has made it to one of the top spots as one of my favorites by Gracie! There are so many things to love and I’ll mention some of them, but Juliet is one of the biggest reasons. I love the way she speaks her mind, while also being gracefully vulnerable. She has her struggles, but she does not let them stop her. She’s brave enough to risk her heart in the hopes of gaining something even better, and she loves helping others. Then pair her with one of the grumpiest MMC’s (which by the way I absolutely adored him too), who is scared to give anything to to anyone, and you have the most delightful, love story! The office romance was perfection and their first kiss was chefs kiss 🔥! I listened to this audiobook that will be coming out tomorrow (Aug 15th) and the narrators were amazing!! Thanks @authorgracieruth and @netgalley for the early copy!
