Jackson and Bear. A spree killer awakened. An impending hurricane.
The perfect storm.
His legal troubles behind him, Jackson Clay joins his friend and business partner, Bear Beauchamp, for a hunting trip on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. An opportunity for some “R&R”, it’s supposed to be a relaxing getaway to the quiet town of Chincoteague. But when Jackson and Bear’s hunting guide is found dead, things soon change. The police ruled the death a tragic accident, but Jackson isn’t so sure. He starts looking into the beloved local when a tourist is also found dead in the local wildlife refuge. This time, though, there’s no it was murder.
As Jackson and Bear look into the two deaths, a hurricane barrels up the Atlantic coast, thinning out the local population to Jackson, Bear, a skeleton crew of first responders, and an eclectic group of stubborn locals. To make matters worse, the storm soon washes out the only road to the mainland, and those who have stayed behind are trapped.
Determined to find the truth, Jackson and Bear don’t let Mother Nature slow them down. But not everyone who’s stayed behind wants their questions answered, and as the flood waters begin to rise, Jackson and Bear come to a terrifying the killer is on the island with them.
Their only hope of surviving the storm and the unknown slayer is to keep digging, unearthing long-buried secrets the sleepy town has held onto for generations. Can they uncover the truth before either the hurricane or the killer gets to them?
