I finally feel safe posting this review now that v7 has been confirmed, I was scared there'd be a jinx (how? who knows. not me. but there could have been, is all I'm saying)
ALL RIGHT LET'S DO IT
My dearest friends I am not joking when I say I made myself ill while reading this. Genuinely thought I was having some sort of medical crisis because of how my heart was palpitating. I was faint like a waifish Victorian in need of a seaside rest. Every single page was a one hit KO, it's a miracle I'm still alive right now. Volume seven might kill me and I'm not even mad.
I planned my whole weekend around this after it was released, I reread my tabs in the first two light novels and then I reread v1-5 before diving into 6 and let me tell you, lads, I feel unwell. So unwell that it took me months to actually formulate this review. They've come so far, I'm so proud of them.
And! I really can't compliment the artist enough. There is not a single miss in the paneling, in the expressions, in the body language. The perfectly timed shifts between more realistic style to cartoonish. The shading on the hair. The placement of hands. And I've never seen eyes drawn so expressively, that is the magnum opus. Even if I wasn't obsessed with the story and characters, the art itself is so beautiful and thoughtful and engaging. Okay now back to the jokes.
Aresh jumping on his horse first thing when he returns saying "let's go, Diana!" like he's off on a days' long journey to return to his beloved when their house is maybe a neighborhood away is so funny. Imagine if I jumped in an Uber and said "let's go, my intrepid driver!" with the urgency and regality of a knight when it was for a fifteen minute drive through the suburbs so I could see my cat.
The Return of the King (Ciro)
I love when Aresh's pupils narrow to slits when he's angry, like yessss pop off king go feral!!!
My other favorite thing about shading Aresh's eyes so they seem like they glow when he's angry is that that he looks absolutely thunderous but Seiichirou doesn't care. Seiichirou's just hanging out. He knows Aresh is six whole feet of down bad loverboy and so his pulse stays steady while everyone else is taking cover.
I have realized that part of the reason I enjoy Aresh's angry eyes so much is because he looks like a Nargacuga. From Monster Hunter. This realization explains my desire to squeeze his face between my hands and rub behind his ears.
Truly I think Aresh was made in a lab for me to squish. He's like if you put movie Toothless, a Nargacuga, and like five billion gallons of repressed homosexuality into a blender and poured it into the shape of a man. And then put a fancy cape on him. For the garnish, you see. Conversely, Seiichirou was made in a lab for me to put in a jar and shake really hard.

I always liked Aresh but this volume has sent that affection skyrocketing. His expressions are going to break me into pieces.
Seiichirou is so stupid sometimes it's genuinely astounding. "I'm kind of jealous that Aresh has someone who loves him unconditionally." Idiot. Buffoon. Absolute complete and utter moron. YOU have someone who loves you unconditionally. You just said his name. I want to shake him so violently.
Every time Seiichirou shows affection toward Aresh and the next frame is Aresh looking completely shell-shocked I lose my mind. Have to take a lap. Scream into a pillow. Rip something apart with my teeth. He really just wants to be loved back for who he is as a person and he doesn't understand that desire until the love is given to him and he doesn't know what to do with it! I'm so normal!
I'm actually not done because legit when Seiichirou offers to give him something, even if it's unreasonable, all he asks is that Seiichirou talk to him like they're close instead of referring to him in regards to his social station. That's all he wants when offered anything!!! And that's so small but so huge and his eyes when Seiichirou cups his face in both hands makes me ill. As my dearest friend once said, "I'm gonna throw something across the room. And it's gonna be my body."
I knew this was going to be a "he fell first but he fell harder" situation, I literally read the light novel so I know what happens, and still I am gasping when Seiichirou is realizing how utterly done for he is. Yes!!! Finally notice you've been falling in love this whole time!!! Trip and tumble down the stairs of emotion and land flat on your face!!! Idiot!!!
Seiichirou being like "wow I had no idea referring to Aresh less formally would affect his mood so much" as if Homotron 3000 hasn't been emotionally latched onto him since he got here.
I know Siegvold is just doing his best and is genuinely nice and cares about Seiichirou but I still hate him. Like truly hate his guts fr. Me and Aresh out here wanting to kill that guy for no reason other than standing too close to Seiichirou. I hate him for other reasons like him being a religious nut projecting his faith onto a total stranger but it's mostly the getting too close to Seiichirou thing. And his stupid hair.
Speaking of people's guts I hate—fuck Karvada while we're at it. I'd hit him with my car. Then reverse and do it again. And a third time, just to make it a magic number. This is also partially because of his hair.
I wanted to make a "his greed sickens me" joke about Seiichirou and all the men at his heels, but I can't because he is not greedy. He doesn't care about those other two fools, he already imprinted on the grouchy one with scene bangs and never looked back.
Seiichirou leaping in front of Selio to protect him with his body is everything to me. It reminds me that the whole reason he's here is because he leapt in to grab Yua's hand as she was being portalled. There's another isekai series about a secondary saint but she was pulled in on purpose as a backup in that one. Seiichirou ends up here because he was trying to help someone in trouble and that's the core of his character, despite him being blunt, analytical, and seemingly not caring about anything other than work. That's why everyone who knows him ends up loving him. Because underneath the "ever-present dead-fish look in his eyes" (Norbert's words, not mine), Seiichirou is kind. Yeah he's a little weirdo that almost always prioritizes work over personal relationships but at the very heart of him he's kind and brave even though he's small, and I adore him for it.
Seiichirou tucks Aresh in when he leaves the bed in the morning, and then he gets flustered when he sees Aresh get up with bedhead. I feel. Like I am dying.
Me in the passenger seat, waving my hands around: And then the volume ENDS! Before they figure out who tried to assassinate Seiichirou!! We didn't even get to the religious zealot bomb attack on the church!!!
My brother, driving, who had been watching the anime thinking it was just a silly gay isekai: ...The what?
I need you all to know that I went to my coworker who had a contact in Yen Press and asked if they could ask about volume 7. Like standing sadly in their doorway hoping to hear that my husband didn't die in the war or whatever. I took a bat to my social anxiety for this series.
I also need you to know that if there was no English v7, I planned to buy the Japanese copy anyway just to look at the drawings. I've read the light novel. I can fill in the blanks. I can cry at pictures. I'm really great at crying at pictures actually. But that doesn't matter because WE ARE GETTING VOLUME 7 PEACE AND LOVE ON PLANET EARTH FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As of August 2026, this is the latest English translated volume of this series. When I started reading this, I was hoping to go beyond the events of the anime, but it appears as though the anime outpaced the manga. This volume ends on a cliffhanger that isn't too bad but would definitely cause you to want to start volume 7 as soon as possible. The anime actually finishes up the arc, and you find out who is trying to hurt Kondou and why.
I didn't particularly care for any of the characters connected to the church and that includes the kind but clueless zealot, Father Siegvold. How he hadn't picked up that something strange was happening with the children residing there is beyond me.

We're moving towards the end of the Church's arc and things has gotten dangerous. I like Kondo and Aresh progression in their relationship. Kondo is finally getting there... (about time). And the translation is, as always, an absolute delight. This manga has given me some of the best sentence translation into Spanish. I can't wait to get the next one.

The Church reform project is coming to an end. Kondou is down to his last scraps of magic barrier that Aresh created before he went to fight miasma, and he’s starting to suffer from the effects of magic. Nonetheless, he joins a prayer ceremony that sucks out extra magic energy. Something goes wrong, and a magic explosion almost incapacitates Kondou. Good thing that Aresh arrives in time.
Aresh is able to save Kondou the usual way, but he’s now spent all his magical energy and needs to recuperate. He doesn’t want to worry Kondou with it, which leads to the latter worrying for their relationship instead. But in the end, it brings them closer, but only because Aresh’s butler reveals the truth to Kondou. Others are starting to pay attention to their relationship too. Especially since Aresh is jealous when Father Sigvold and the prime minister pay attention to Kondou.
But the Church project isn’t quite over. Because someone deliberately targeted Kondou with the explosion. The volume ends before we find out who.
Great volume. There was good progress in Kondou and Aresh’s relationship, shown much better in manga form than the light novel, which tends to skip the important bits. Looking forward to reading more.

In this volume, Seiichirou finds himself in danger and almost dies yet again, but thankfully Aresh arrives just in time to rescue him.
It's absolutely hilarious watching every guy flock around Seiichirou and drive Aresh so jealous, especially the prime minister, who literally tries to snatch Seiichirou away from him 😂
Overall, this volume was such a fun and entertaining read!

Since it's been more than a year between manga volumes, I've finished the whole light novel series, and the manga has instead become a refresher and alternate perspective. (The anime's also reached this point in the manga, too.) That changes a bit how I view things, but I continue to hope that the manga adaptation covers the entire series, because there is a lot I seem to prefer in this format.
For instance, the scenes with Aresh hit a lot harder because you're able to actually see the unspoken expressions on both Kondou's and Aresh's faces. Written descriptions can accomplish that...but the light novels kind of don't, so it was really, really lovely to have some of Kondou's massive realizations playing out with more visual impact.
I'm still not particularly fond of the prime minister and priest trying to pull tug-of-war with Kondou's affections, but I did like how clearly he brushes them off in favor of Aresh. It's not something Aresh can really see a lot of the time: he's still heartsick with what continues to feel like a mostly one-sided love. The roughest part is that it doesn't really matter to him. He would quite literally die to save Kondou's life, knowing full well that while Kondou would appreciate the gesture, he might never love him the way Aresh desperately needs.
The line about Kondou never sending him a single letter while he was away felt like a knife straight into the chest. Aresh has some issues with possessiveness and jealousy, largely stemming from his insecurity about Kondou's feelings and his protectiveness over his well-being - but his genuine, self-sacrificing love is so fully on display in this volume.
Loved the conversation with Aresh's butler. Kondou needed that practical assessment of their situation, and he definitely needed to be told that while it's bad enough for him to be endangering his own health, he's also actively putting Aresh in danger. He's...trying to do better. It's not something he can fix overnight. But he's at least aware now.
And I did love that heart-clenching moment when Aresh looked up at him with so much hopeful longing, and Kondou finally realized that he can't keep putting his feelings on the back burner forever. He does have incredibly deep feelings for Aresh, and he's going to have to address them.
The church conspiracy storyline is continuing...I can't remember how much longer it takes to wrap up, but maybe by the next volume? I assume that will be the conclusion of the anime, since there are only a couple episodes left. But the stuff with Sigma getting recruited for the royal sorcery department is really fun, and shows the impact Kondou is making on people.
I also like the prince more in the manga...he feels more human and more truly devoted to the Holy Maiden. Rough on him, because she seems a lot more interested in knight captains and handsome priests and in going back home...

J’ai bien aimé ce tome 6, notamment pour les retrouvailles entre les personnages, que j’ai trouvées très réussies et franchement satisfaisantes. On est clairement dans un bon BL, avec cette rivalité entre plusieurs hommes autour d’un même personnage, et ça fonctionne très bien. Les tensions, les regards, les non-dits… tout est là.
L’arrivée de l’assassin, qui cible directement le comptable, apporte une dose d’action bienvenue. C’était sympa, dynamique, et surtout très efficace pour montrer à quel point le capitaine est inquiet pour lui. On sent que ses sentiments sont profonds et sincères, et ça rend certaines scènes particulièrement touchantes.

La fin du tome a un petit goût de “fin d’arc”, presque de conclusion temporaire, avec ce côté à suivre. Personnellement, ça ne m’a pas dérangée : j’aime toujours autant l’univers et la direction que prend l’histoire.
Mon seul vrai bémol, c’est le comptable lui-même : j’aimerais vraiment qu’il assume enfin ses sentiments pour le capitaine et qu’il arrête de le repousser pour des raisons un peu futiles. Tout est là, il ne manque plus que ça.
Un tome 6 plaisant, équilibré entre action, romance et intrigue politique, qui confirme que la série reste très solide et toujours aussi agréable à suivre.
L’arrivée de l’assassin, qui cible directement le comptable, apporte une dose d’action bienvenue. C’était sympa, dynamique, et surtout très efficace pour montrer à quel point le capitaine est inquiet pour lui. On sent que ses sentiments sont profonds et sincères, et ça rend certaines scènes particulièrement touchantes.

Loving the progress in this one. The more Seiichirou learns about the church and how it handles magic the more questions he has cuz the math ain't matching. They're being weird about the magic they're collecting. But the church wasn't a fan of him snooping so he wound up in danger as usual but this time it wasn't just him who wound up bed ridden. Thanks to that he had to consider that maybe working to the bone isn't good work if someone else needs to clean up after him in the end. For like a whole two minutes lol he still goes right back to workaholic mode but now slightly less so. My traumatized son is learning u_u I'm so glad that he's finally somewhat admitting outloud that he likes Aresh. Still not crazy about him. I've never liked jealous characters but I guess he's justifiably angry in this volume.
Side tangent for thoughts on the anime. I like that it's there but it's bare bones by comparison because entire conversations are missing that add more to different characters relationships. The art is very simplified. It's not awful, its still perfectly watchable, but there isn't as much depth as I would like. It is moving pretty quickly though because it got to this volume in like 11 episodes

It cracks me up that Kondou's slow realization he's falling for Aresh makes him wonder whether something is wrong with his heart. I also love how clear Aresh is that this one is mine, I claimed him, he will be fine because *I will make him fine.*
We have the Nefarious Dealings at the church continuing here and gosh do I love Father Siegvold and his awkward kind-of crush on Kondou. (Looking forward to seeing what's going to happen with the casually-mentioned connection to Aresh.) The multiple storylines are starting to come together a bit, which is neat to see, as we the readers get more glimpses of how the people around him see Kondou and his internal narrative (so often reinforced in his world) of being nothing more than a drone gets dismantled and reshaped. The weird triangle of the holy maiden and the prince and the priest continues apace and Siegvold has no idea, bless him.
The aside with the butler was such a beautiful scene, honestly, very Alfred and Bruce Wayne in its way. Definitely ready for volume seven's promised Big Reveal of Conspiracies.

welcome to volume 6 of sei being reckless with his body and health, this time featuring aresh, also being reckless with his body and health. I know love makes you stupid, but aresh doing the same shit he's been nagging sei about for 4 volumes has to be a new low 😭
though I do get its meant to be a turning point for sei, to see the consequences of his actions, so I can forgive it.
what i can't quite forgive is whatever is going on with the plot. I expected the miasma to play a bigger role here. for obvious reasons, but its just not. instead we have nobles abusing a religious system, a church cover-up, and an assassination??? and it wouldn't feel so abrupt if the plot didn’t seem like just set-dressing for the characters to go through their arcs.
I think having a work that is more character focused than plot focused is fine. I just think this manga series is trying to balance both, and it isn't really doing a good job of it.
sei and aresh are adorable though, and reading this is worth it for them alone.

I have to say, the reason I gave this four stars out of five is probably because I read this in Japanese, and before that I've already read the original novel in English so it was a bit tedious for someone who's already read it. The manga itself is very well-paced and well-drawn and I have no actual criticism about the one star I docked. I'm just personally a little miffed that the church plot is still on going since I've already read that part. But reading the manga... it truly is inevitable. If you don't want to take away anything from Seiichirou and Aresh's developing relationship, you truly have to just draw the manga the way it is. So the book two of the light novel will be wrapped up in Vol. 7, I guess. I can't wait to see how that goes.

This volume was so sweet that I got a toothache. Kondou & Aresh are just so cute together and now I’m worried about the eventual angst about the portal back to Earth….. Anyways the plot thickens!!! Corruption is in the air and it’s all pointing towards the Bishop. I wonder if it’s all him or if it’s a group of people. I hope none of the characters we know get revealed to be a betrayer. In other news I love that Kondou has basically amassed a harem of powerful people. Usually I’m not one for that trope or even the implications of it, but knowing that Kondou & Aresh are basically together (without being together lmao), I find the men who have interest in Kondou to be funny. I love how blatantly shameless the PM is and I love that Siegvold has a rivalry with Aresh over Kondou.

It's been a few years since I read volume 5 so it took me a moment to remember what was going on with the church. Actual plot aside, I do love how the romance is progressing. It's really sweet that Aresh wanted to go informal with Kondou. I'm uncertain how I feel about this random "love triangle" vibe with the religious dude, but I can't say I blame a man of the cloth wanting some "holy sex." I mean... sex in the name of saving a life is admissible. Right?! Right?! (lol) Outside of the spice content, I absolutely love the boy (Sigma, I think). He's so smart, and I'm glad Ist and Kondou are trying to help him growing educationally and professionally.

I liked this volume but I think the conflict is just okay, I want to know the church stuff... I guess. I mostly like it cause our Knight is a jealous man. But then our Bean Counter annoys me again. He finally acknowledges that he needs to take better care of himself because it drains our knight, and then he goes and IMMEDIATELY "forgets" to eat lunch again... just le sigh dude. But we got more cute moments between them. I wish there was more dialogue to build a real relationship between the two of them. Its hard for me want their success when I am not sure why they actually like each other.

Думала, арка церкви закінчиться в цьому томі, а їм усе одно вдалося не тільки розтягнути то все, але й наповнити довгоочікуваними проявами романтичних бажань. Через це том хоч і втратив динаміку, зате зникли вагони виснажливих пояснень.
Стосунки Ареша та Кондо вийшли на новий рівень. До цих двох так довго доходить через дурні натяки й усякі катастрофи. Момент з вибухом я навіть кілька раз дивилася в аніме. Це була та сама межа, після якої вони остаточно усвідомили себе парою, здатною на подвиги один заради одного.
Сумувала за цими двома й була рада зустріти.
