The story of Levi and Amy was an engaging read, but it didn’t fully live up to its potential for me. The plot had some interesting elements, particularly the complex family dynamics and Levi's attempts to make amends for past mistakes, but I found the lack of communication between the characters to be frustrating. Many of their issues could have been resolved with a simple, honest conversation, yet the story dragged out due to this lack of deeper communication.
While I enjoyed the premise, I really missed having a dual POV. Not knowing what Levi was thinking at key moments left me feeling disconnected from his character. It would have been nice to gain a better understanding of his past trauma and how it shaped his actions throughout the book. As it is, his character felt underdeveloped, and I was left wanting more depth.
Amy, as the protagonist, was likable, and I appreciated the representation of her chronic migraines, which added a relatable layer to her character. However, I felt like the romance, especially at certain moments, was a bit rushed and felt disconnected at times. The relationship felt a bit out of the blue at points, possibly due to the lack of insight into Levi's perspective.
Overall, the writing was solid, and the story moved at a decent pace, but I found myself wishing for more emotional depth and stronger character development, particularly for Levi. The family dynamics were interesting, though, and I did appreciate the refreshing portrayal of sibling rivalry. While this book kept me entertained, it didn’t fully satisfy my expectations. That's why I'm giving it 3 ⭐.
