The house always wins—until Mason Sharpe rolls the dice.

Former Army Ranger Mason Sharpe arrives in New Jersey looking for nothing more than a quiet stopover. But a deadly car crash puts him face-to-face with Piper Haines, a frantic young woman who insists that someone is trying to kill her.

Mason dismisses her wild claims—until her house explodes and the local cops call it a gas leak.

What follows is a chain of violence, corruption, and cover-ups that all lead back to Bill Ashcroft, a ruthless casino mogul with sweeping political power, deep pockets, and a very long reach.

But Mason doesn’t scare easily. With the unshakable Piper at his side, he launches a no-holds-barred campaign to expose Ashcroft’s schemes and take him down.

For his part, Ashcroft didn’t build an empire just to watch some drifter destroy it. He’s going to fight back with everything he’s got. And in his world, the house always wins.

What he doesn’t know? Mason Sharpe is the ultimate Wild Card.

Another solid addition to the Mason Sharpe series, with this book finding Mason going up against a land-grabbing billionaire and his henchmen.

As always, the pacing is relentless, the action gritty and the characters well-rounded and all adding to the story.

I did find things a bit predictable and somewhat lacking in twists and turns, but nonetheless thoroughly enjoyed this.

Mason Sharpe is back in a new intense thriller by Logan Ryles. I do however feel that Maosn should reconsider keeping his truck. Don't get me wrong, I love the truck and I understand why he keeps it. I do however think it costs to much in upkeep since it always seems to be crashed. I also think that he should try and keep some of the money he encounters since he always needs it for repairs. On the other hand I love this series and it's fun to always encounter a brand new problem that Mason stumbles into. In this one he witnesses a collison between cars and one goes of the bridge and before you know it Sharpe is in the water trying to rescue the driver not realising this will lead to some crazy problems later. It's not easy always to be helpful but it leads to some great adventures for us readers to enjoy. I must thank Netgalley and Inkubator Books for supplying me with another good read.

Dare I Say

I really like Logan Ryles’ writing and have read all his books, including all of the novels in this Mason Sharpe series. Dare I say, however, this book is basically Reacher Season one with Windale substituting for Margrave. Maybe Ryles has never seen the show and it’s just a coincidence. Either way, this story struggles in the middle and the premise hinges on a pretty thin plot point. I’ll still follow everything Ryles writes.

This was a rock 'em sock 'em book from the get-go. I appreciate that some readers like that, but it was just too much for me. Also, there were giant holes in the story. For instance, Mason jumps in tbe the Delaware River from a 50' bridge. Not only would he be knocked up at minimum, he'd need a lot of sleep to heal. He gets none of that.

Also being that everyone (except Mason) has a cell phone, there would be many videos of his death-defying feat. The press would be all over it, too. Everyone would know what he did, but that's not the case.

Also, since Piper lost her car, how did she get home, then find Mason? At 7 am the next day, no less. Also, she'd be in the hospital for days not hours. But, she's on a crusade to fight the "corrupt" businessman she believes is trying to kill her. I also felt that she was unlikable, except that she loves her cat. All her running on about being vegan was like an ad for it. It went on and on. Some of us know it's healthier & of course better for animals, but we don't want it shoved down our throats like she did. Even Mason tuned her out. Not good.

Also, the casino magnate seemed to be building a better town, and renovating the area where the casino was planned is quite an upgrade from its current decrepit state, so I didn't quite understand the opposition to the plan. The folks living in the area to be renovated were offered generous compensation. As it is, the decrepit area remains decrepit, and the poor remain poor. The jobs the casino would have created go unmet. Again, giant plot holes.

Mason Sharpe Series:
Source: Ryles' ARC team.

WILD CARD, #11 - Oh, that poor truck. Enjoyed another good story but I found the roof scene a bit extreme. 5*

POINT BLANK - I almost stopped reading when man was faster than a bullet out of a gun jammed under his throat. There are a couple more "get real, dude"! Otherwise, I discovered this is an interesting bit of entertainment. Good characters, typical good ol' redneck bubbas, and good story lines. The S&W's fate bothered me, it's not a Glock. 4*

TAKE DOWN, #2 - Immersing and interesting and actually better than Point Blank, which I also liked. Street punk turned Army vet turned police officer suffering the loss of his fiancee, roams the highways in his ole GMC truck. Helping a kid in Atlanta has Sharpe in a whole new can of woes. Good story lines mixed with characters that you either like or hate made for hard to put down entertainment. 5*

END GAME, #3 - This is the third book by Ryles that I have to finish once I start reading. EG is interesting, intriguing and immersing with well written story lines and interesting, good supporting characters. There is violence but not in graphic detail and no profanity. This story takes place about eight months after losing Mia. The continuing original story lines is well blended with the new. Read this in order, although it is not necessary, and Ryles is good about not rehashing the previous books. The ending came too soon but the ride was great. Source: Booksprout and the author. 5*

FIRE TEAM, #4 - Make sure your ducks are in a row and quacking because this is finish in one sitting read. This my favorite genre and this series is one of my favorites. Mr. Ryles always delivers a well written, well thought out and entertaining story. Believable and realistic story lines, characters and action scenes. AI is the feature theme of this story but the elements of hope, suffering, love, grief, patriotism and doing the right thing are always present in each story. The rental choice is hilarious, which opened all sorts of imagined scenarios. 5*

FLASH POINT, #5 - Definitely a fast-paced, entertaining read. Lots of happenings going on and lots of people after Mason; like they say, no good deed .... A variety of characters, interesting story lines, some humor, and that poor truck. No matter what happens to Mason, even after what happens with Mia's Bible, he keeps true to himself. 5*

STORM SURGE, #6 - NOLA. A Cat. 5 Hurricane. Rednecks. A kidnapped, handicapped child. And that's not all that happens in this intense story. Interesting characters and intriguing story lines make this an easy to read, hard to put down, fast paced, action filled read. 15*

STRIKE BACK, #7 - Another good addition to this series. Plenty of action, justice, bad guys, and intriguing story lines with interesting characters set at a good pace. It is always another problem, just when he thinks he sees the whole picture. That poor '69 pickup. 5*

KNOCK OUT, #8 - A whole lot of motorcycle riding and violence. Rather intense throughout with little down time. Good things do happen. 4*

Lethal Action, #9 - I enjoyed every page; the twists and turns, the characters that stood out and the ending of the bad guy. There may be a future for Mason, too. 5*

FULL FORCE, #10 - Immersing. Intense. The typical great characters, interesting and intriguing story lines and a pace that kept me involved until the last page. Mr. Ryles keeps growing as an author with his writing style, storytelling skills and ever evolving depth of knowledge; nuthin' hollywood here, folks. Check out his other series, they're just as good. 15*

3.5* I didn't feel I was missing out by not having read previous tales in this series.

Mason Sharpe is a Reacher-type character in some ways, with the same rescuer, former military and honourable-guy vibe. Being late to the series, I didn't feel that I was lost or missing anything hugely cohesive or important, as there's enough info to give an idea of his life. There's nothing unique about the premise of the character, but he's a little less gung-ho than Reacher.

He rescues a female in distress, but she's no damsel who needs her fights to be fought for her. The opening scene makes him seem a little lacking in believability, as no one, military experience or not, can dive 50 metres into a river and not bear some physical impact and lasting evidence. He's not a man in his 20s or 30s, and tough or not, that had to have hurt and left some discomfort as a minimum. Still, I could suspend disbelief and move on with the main storyline of the tale, as the kickarse Piper, had cause and reason for her quest, despite seeming paranoid at the start.

It's not unique but it's a very readable tale, although not one that's memorable enough for me to fully recall and review it a month after finishing it. But, I'm about to move onto book 12, as it's entertaining enough although formulaic.

What happens when you witness an accident on a bridge where a car is forced over the side? Well you jump out of your car and do not hesitate to jump into the water to help the young girl you had seen in the car. Well that is what Former Army Ranger Mason Sharpe did. He is just a good guy always trying to help the underdog, and it sometimes gets Mason into lots of trouble. He rescues Piper Haines and she talks a mile a minute and swears that someone is trying to kill her. Mason dismisses her wild claims until he gives her a ride home and her house explodes before she even makes it inside. Luckily her cat has ran out when she opened the door and chasing him probably saved her life. The local police say it was a gas leak.

Then Piper tells him the whole story of how she is keeping someone from stealing land from her friends to build a casino. Bill Ashcroft is evil and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. He has bought off everyone from police to politicians to help with his plan. Piper convinces Mason to help her with her mission and after lot of violence, corruption and cover-ups that all lead to Bill Ashcroft. He realizes Piper is telling the truth and now Mason will do everything he can to help her.

Another thrilling tale in this great series. Mason finds himself involved in a car crash and when he saves a young woman from drowning as a result of the accident, he reluctantly finds himself helping her when she insists her life is in danger.

This has great small town vibes here and there is definitely something dodgy going on when suddenly lots of people and the local police seem to really want Mason gone from the town as soon as possible. This was full of action as usual as Mason tangles with so many people while he tries to track down the elusive Bill Ashcroft who seems to be behind whatever is going on in the area. I loved how he tries to turn another gangster against Ashcroft. The initial scenes at the gangster's house were quite wild and I laughed quite a bit there.

The climax to the story was quite intense and had me holding my breath at one point. The ending felt very justified. I look forward to reading about wherever Mason ends up next.

I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

The story starts with Mason driving to Cape May when he winds up in an accident. The accident involved a crash where a vehicle went over the side of the bridge into the Delaware River. Without any thought, Mason jumped into the river to try and save the driver. Mason managed to retrieve Piper Haines, the driver, who was able to be revived. Mason then went to Windale where he got a motel room. He was awakened the next morning by someone banging on his door. It turned out to be Piper and she needed his help. She told him someone was trying to kill her. Mason didn't believe it until when he brought her to her house, it exploded. That was when he learned about Bill Ashcroft.

Read along and discover the incidents that Ashcroft continued his attacks. Learn why Piper was targeted and why they wanted Mason out of the picture.

The ending answers all questions and is well done. Another graet book in the series and well woth reading!

What starts out as an accident, ends in a bloody battle to the death.

Mason Sharpe is involved in an auto wreck and before he knows it, he's jumping off a bridge to save the life of a woman (Piper) he's never met.
What follows is Sharpe becoming involved with something he wants nothing to do with. But he just 'can't walk away' as he says.
In a battle for truth and justice, Mason faces crooked cops, government officials, thugs, and Bill Ashcroft, a man who will commit murder to get what he wants. And he has Piper in his sights.
This is my first Logan Ryles story and WILD CARD is quite intense. Especially the ending where the reader gets drawn into the chaos and the drama.
I really like his writing style. Told in first person, there is no area in the book which drags along or has filler. In fact, it's quite action packed which is what I like in a story.
Sharpe is a Reacher like character, but I would say that I liked him more. Ryles has a sure winner here.
I can't recommend this book highly enough.

Thanks to Net Galley for the ARC.

Mason Sharpe is back in the eleventh thrilling installment of his namesake series, and it's everything fans have come to expect. The ex-Army Ranger and former Phoenix Homicide Detective is on his way to Cape May, New Jersey, when a jarring car accident on a bridge near the tranquil town of Windale, New Jersey, changes everything. As one car plummets into the Delaware River, Mason's instincts kick in, pulling him into the frigid waters to rescue the trapped driver. What initially appears to be a tragic mishap soon unravels into something far more sinister: a targeted murder attempt. Though a reluctant participant, Sharpe finds himself compelled to investigate, peeling back layers of high-level corruption to expose how one man's unchecked greed can devastate a town and everyone in its path. This is a relentlessly paced, enjoyable thriller that guarantees an exciting read.

Y’all. Wild Card throws you straight into the action and never taps the brakes. Mason Sharpe rolls into New Jersey expecting a quiet stop, but instead he gets a panicked woman, a suspicious explosion, and a twisted trail that leads straight to a powerful casino kingpin with dirty secrets and deep pockets.

The pacing? Lightning-fast. The writing? Sharp, cinematic, and loaded with tension. Logan Ryles doesn’t waste a word—every scene crackles with purpose. Mason is more layered than ever—steady, strategic, and unshakably loyal—and Piper Haines brings fierce energy and emotional depth to the chaos.

This is easily one of the most exciting installments of the Mason Sharpe Thriller series yet—action-packed, character-driven, and impossible to put down. If you like your thrillers tight, gritty, and smart, Wild Card is a sure bet.

Mason Sharpe is good at trying to mind his own business only to crash right into trouble. This time he is just driving over a bridge. A car goes over the railings and Mason naturally jumps in to save the young lady (Piper). She insists, someone was trying to kill her. The cops called it an accident. But what if these particular cops are being paid off, and what if the corruption extends throughout the county. When Piper's house explodes and it is ruled a gas leak, Sharpe begins to believe her. There is a billionaire real estate mogul who rolls over people to get what he wants. What he wants is a casino in Windale, NJ, even though state law prohibits it. That means displacing a retirement community that doesn't want to sell. Piper does volunteer work for them. The action starts on the very first page and does not stop! Not on any page. Mason Sharpe doesn't do subtle.

Mason has left DC but didn't get far. He's on his way to NJ heading for Cape May (someone told him the sunsets/sunrises are amazing) and he needs some peace after having left Evelyn behind.

On the Delaware Memorial Bridge, he witnesses an "accident" with a car launching off the bridge. Of course, Mason jumps in after it, saves the lone occupant Piper and is drawn into another David vs Goliath situation in her small town. Seems most people in town are being bought off and only Piper is fighting to save a group of elderly occupants along the scenic Delaware River. Most call her eccentric and humor her conspiracy theories but Mason is slowly convinced she's right and something in him can't stop helping.

It doesn't go well for the bad guys when Mason is on the job. Lots of action.

Mason just seems to fall into situations where his skills as an Army Ranger and then a police detective are put to use. Once again he is wandering in his restored GMC trying to run from memories. Then Piper happens. Once again his truck is wrecked and he is drawn into something much bigger than it first appears. The story is well written and Mason is a hero that is easy to cheer for. The book develops the characters, has the required bad guys, the damsel in distress, the FBI, and a good storyline. Have read all the Mason Sharpe series and this was a great addition. Looking forward to the next one.

As usual straight into action. Mason witnesses an accident on a bridge with one of the cars going into the water. He jumps in and with much effort saves Piper. Then Pipers house blows up so then he gets involved in helping her. Goes up against some pretty nasty characters such as a corrupt businessman and his mafia friends. Mason really is a one-man wrecking machine.
Wow. Pretty intense and dramatic finale. No putting the book down when I got to that part.
Love being in the company of Mason as is always a Wild Read.
Reading these books by Logan Ryles is like watching a good movie and when it ends you don't want it to. Now I am waiting patiently for Book 12.

It's another wild ride for Mason Sharpe in Wild Card!

Simply looking forward to experience the spectular Cape May sunset recommended to him, instead he rescues a young lady from a car crash off the Delaware River bridge. Typical Mason, helping someone in need and saving another life in the process. From there, things ramp up when he realizes the gal he saved, seemingly crazy with conspiracy theories that this wasn't an accident, turns out to be on the money about something very nefarious going on in Jersey. With a developer trying to force out low-income residents from their community to build a casino, you know Mason won't be able to turn a blind eye to the plight of his newfound friend or the neighbors she is trying to save despite all the threats to his well-being. He'll use all of his toolset to set things right, and heads will roll.

Action-packed, with against-all-odds scenarios at play, Mason Sharpe is the man to have on your side when the going gets tough. A fast-moving pace and characters you'll love - or love to hate - keeps the pages turning throughout. While his last couple of adventures had far-reaching international implications, it was nice having Mason's latest adventure keeping it closer to home this time.

Jersey, Ocean's Eleven, book 11? Might be a coincidence, but take a gamble and check it out - you won't regret it!

This time Sharpe witnesses a car goover a bridge. His military training helps him rescue Piper and the trouble starts. Piper is convinced that someone is trying to kill her, she’s not convincing until someone tries again.
Sharpe can’t leave while she’s in danger but before he knows if he’s smack in the middle of some very bad people.

Logan just gets better

I feel like I know Mason, he could definitely be a part of my circle. Logan’s characters make want to fight for them as much as Mason does and I find myself digging in with by adrenaline pumping.

To me this one knocked it out of the park. Thank you Logan for bringing Mason to life.
