Arcane Orcharding: The Olive Grove: A Slice of Life/Farming Litrpg with Action and Adventure

Rate this book
A Middle-Eastern Slice of Life Isekai. A farming LitRPG with Magic, Action, and Adventure.

Yusuf Al-Saif, a battle-hardened arcane knight, never imagined he'd face a master level Ifrit. Armed with arcane abilities and his scimitar, he narrowly survives a clash that would have incinerated lesser warriors.

Crippled by a near-fatal mana burn, which reduced his ability to use magic, Yusuf is forced into an unexpected exile from his usual life. When it seems all is lost, a royal decree from the Sultan offers him a new path tied to his late mentor, orcharding olive trees, and protecting a rural farmstead.

I wanted

To like it.

Middle Eastern mythology? Cool. Farming? Ehh, I’ve seen a few…oh, orchards. Interesting. Olives, of course, with bonus for long productive life. Slice-o-life? Ok, sure.

But it doesn’t work for me. It seems to have system control, but it’s not clear if anyone else gets a system. And the narrative is too controlling for SoL. It’s like the DM and the MC are both the same person.

I’m not explaining this well. I was skipping pages too often for this to be a good read.

Interesting and refreshing

Thoroughly enjoyed it, a good mix of slice of life and action. Good pacing. Looking forward to book 2 already!

I wonder if the squire will be more of a character in upcoming chapters

I also have a soft spot for any litrpg involving magic trees.. maybe not as soft a spot as Yusuf the first time he touched the tree though..
