Mehmet Çalışkan is a writer who sees writing not as a comfort zone, but as a field of mental confrontation. His interests are not limited to human psychology; money, power, consciousness, systems, and the cosmos are different facets of the same intellectual trajectory.

His works reject genre expectations. Money Doesn’t Change, But You Can approaches financial freedom not through motivational promises, but through discipline, awareness, and emotional control. Money does not change; what must change is the mental structure of the individual.

Children of Jotunheim is a philosophical science fiction work that deliberately excludes human-centered narratives, placing ideas rather than events at its core. It focuses not on heroes, but on systems; not on emotions, but on the relationships between power and consciousness. Its aim is not to entertain the reader, but to unsettle them.

The Big Crunch presents a metaphysical model that treats the universe not as a static structure, but as a layered and vibrational process. Time, matter, artificial intelligence, and consciousness are reconsidered within this framework. This is not a presentation of a theory, but an ontological challenge.

The Mind’s Operating System is the necessary inward counterpart to this outward journey. It lays bare the mind’s biases, personality structures, and behavioral patterns. It offers no consolation; it offers explanation.

Çalışkan’s books do not offer escape—they demand confrontation.

THE BIG CRUNCH: Layered Resonance Theory: Move – Unite – Fragment — A Metaphysical Fiction by Mehmet Çalışkan is a bold and intellectually stimulating novel. The book is built around the Layered Resonance Theory and the Move – Unite – Fragment Trilogy, presenting a highly original model that reduces the workings of the universe to three fundamental codes. Çalışkan masterfully blends complex concepts from quantum physics, cosmology, and philosophy in an accessible language, combining scientific rigor with literary fluidity. From the concept of infinity to the expansion of the universe, inward infinity, layers of consciousness, and energy, the narrative maintains a coherent and thought-provoking structure.

The book explores speculative ideas such as “energy gaining consciousness” and “the illusion of time,” presenting them with supporting arguments. Its originality makes it appealing to readers of popular science, philosophy enthusiasts, AI researchers, and those engaged in existential inquiry. THE BIG CRUNCH offers a rich, inspiring, and intellectually satisfying reading experience through its unique structure and philosophical depth.

Mehmet Çalışkan’s The Big Crunch: Layered Resonance Theory isn’t just a work of metaphysical fiction; it’s an intellectual and spiritual experiment that redefines how we think about existence itself. Reading it felt like standing at the edge of a cosmic equation that’s constantly rewriting itself. The concepts of Move, Unite, and Fragment become more than just theoretical codes; they feel like the hidden pulses that shape reality, from galaxies to thought itself.

What impressed me most was the book’s ability to merge dense ideas like cosmology, consciousness, and metaphysics into something that reads like both philosophy and narrative. Rather than burying the reader in jargon, Çalışkan invites us to feel the rhythm of his theory. It’s not simply explained; it’s experienced through reflection, metaphor, and imagination.

The most fascinating thread for me was how Layered Resonance Theory connects cosmic cycles to human consciousness. The same forces that govern stars seem to echo in the way we think, create, and evolve. It’s a humbling idea, one that makes existence feel less random and more symphonic.

Stylistically, the writing is lucid but poetic, grounded in science yet reaching for the transcendent. There are echoes of early metaphysical visionaries—Teilhard de Chardin, Arthur C. Clarke, and even Carl Jung, but Çalışkan’s perspective feels fresh and daringly modern, particularly in how it connects AI and cosmic intelligence under one universal rhythm.

The Big Crunch: Layered Resonance Theory – Move, Unite, Fragment is a speculative and highly conceptual work that sits between metaphysical fiction, philosophy, and thought experiment. Mehmet Çalışkan, an author with several intriguing titles to his name, clearly enjoys grappling with large questions—those of infinity, consciousness, time, and the emerging role of artificial intelligence within the structure of reality.

Rather than following a traditional narrative or advancing a formal scientific theory, Çalışkan presents his ideas through a conceptual framework he calls “Layered Resonance Theory,” structured around the recurring themes of movement, unification, and fragmentation. The book makes frequent use of rhetorical questions, encouraging readers to pause, reflect, and engage actively with the ideas being explored.

This is not a conventional academic work, nor does it attempt to be. Instead, The Big Crunch succeeds as an accessible and engaging exploration of abstract ideas, using speculation and momentum to carry the reader forward. Readers drawn to philosophical curiosity, imaginative thinking, and reflections on consciousness and reality will find plenty here to contemplate.

Succinct, commanding, and unpretentious —
The Big Crunch was all that I could have wanted to keep me company during my hectic flight. Mr. Çalişkan, despite the brevity of the novel, successfully found a way to convey to the reader his carefully curated ideas of what it means to be alive. As his writing progressed, it grew more and more evident that Çalikşan is innately inquisitive and sensitive to all that lies around him, and has tied into this book his knowledge of philosophy, psychology and natural science. Genuinely, surprised by some topics that are written in this book: Inward infinity, possible trajectory of A.I., and the three codes that make up both consciousness and the universe were delightfully new to me. This was my first book of his, but I’ll make it a point to read his other works. The only “downside” I would say is that it would behoove the reader to have some sort of basic knowledge on scientific terminology and theory in order to fully enjoy this book. I highly recommend and will be rereading.

Exploring ideas

In The Big Crunch, Mehmet puts forward a theory and a way of thinking about the life cycle of the universe (or reality more broadly) that is at the very least interesting. The idea of layers of consciousness I found intriguing, and layers of experience based on an infinite number of scales was too! For me, it reminded me what an awesome creation we inhabit, but we will never know everything.

Each short chapter reads as a concept explored. I found the whole thing a good thought exercise.

The bite size chapters and short, almost poetic, lines give space to take in the scientific and philosophical concepts – what could have been a complicated mass of paragraphs is instead written almost in slow motion resulting in a truly accessible read.

The author weaves through physics, cosmology and philosophy and conjures up some really though provoking ideas around artificial intelligence. If the nature of consciousness and the universe is of interest then this is a book for you.

The Big Crunch explores many scientific topics and I applaud the author for the amount of research and knowledge.

I wish my textbooks were as clear as this book. The clear language and the short, focused chapters make it easier to digest. However, honestly, I reread many chapters trying to get a better understanding of them, because theories can be interpreted in many ways.

My study years are far behind me, but some theories always tag along, although I don’t always connect them to real life, except when I stop to ponder them or when I have a simple discussion about the lightbulb and the connection with the law of conservation of energy.

It’s probably a personal preference, the same as what I had experienced with science subjects, it’s much easier to understand when examples of implementation are given, which is what I wish this book had, especially when it has time-appropriate topics like AI and ethics. Imho, having them would make all the theories much more powerful and easy to digest.

This book is very well written and researched. I wish I was more knowledgeable about its subject matter so I could better understand its scope, but, alas, I was not born with a mind for science (I scraped by in college chemistry with two C’s and barely a B in introductory physics). But I do remember as a pre-adolescent wondering about the universe and its utterly inexplicable dimension: What is beyond Pluto (at that time), and how far can one travel until encountering something else? What is out there? Where are we?

I will admit that I am a creationist, but I also accept that evolution likely plays some part in history.

I truly wish I could wrap my mind around the concepts presented in this book, but again, I’m really not smart enough on this subject. To be able to join the ranks of Mehmet and all those who can fathom these topics with ease would be magnificent, but I fear that will never be possible.

It’s a compact book, but it gives you plenty to think about. It approaches cosmology and consciousness from an unusual angle, using the Move/Unite/Fragment structure to tie everything together. The mix of short poetic lines and more direct explanations makes the book easy to move through, even when the concepts get dense.

The sections on AI and ethics add a timely layer that feels relevant rather than theoretical. Some ideas will be familiar to readers who follow physics or philosophy, but the way they’re organized here gives them a different texture.

Mehmet Çalışkan offers here a book I found very interesting. It is less of a scientific work and more of a philosophical or poetic creation. He looks at the nature of reality, the expansion/contraction of the universe as pulses in something much greater. He also sees the AI development as part of evolutionary progression and also looks beyond a sentient AI to the evolution of energy itself to the level of life.

'The Big Crunch: Layered Resonance Theory: Move-Unite-Fragment' written by Mehmet Çalişkan

Slim but interesting book; I was hoping for a larger book that really dug into these premises even more because I'm a very curious person and even if I know not as much as I'd like to (never-ending quest, really, lol) about certain subjects, the desire to know, to learn more about the worlds we inhabit, is kind of addictive.

Book starts out with some basic premises about the universe, then kind of meanders its way through more questioning with possibilities, investigating deeper into unknown aspects of life and the inner & outer universes.

Loved it; want more!

Two thumbs up! 👍👍

I've always been fascinated about space and the universe. This thought provoking book breaks it down into bite sized chunks in simple language that is easy to understand.

We are all energy. It also touches on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the likely projection of its growth.

I will never view life and the universe the same way again.

Bridging the Empirical with the Existential

THE BIG CRUNCH: Layered Resonance Theory by Mehmet Çalışkan is a daring intellectual odyssey that reimagines the cosmos through a provocative triad—Move, Unite, Fragment. This metaphysical fiction weaves quantum physics, cosmology, and philosophy into a tapestry of speculative brilliance, proposing a universe governed by cyclical vibrations and layered consciousness.

Çalışkan, a polymath with expertise in psychology and philosophy, challenges readers to confront existential riddles: Can atoms possess awareness? Is time an illusion? His Layered Resonance Theory dares to answer these age-old questions through a lens of scientific rigor, rejecting supernatural dogma in favor of a poetic, pulse-driven cosmos where energy and consciousness evolve in tandem.

Bridging the empirical and the existential, the book dives into AI ethics, infinity, and the hypothetical “Great Collapse”—a cosmic reset to time’s origin. While critics may dismiss its secular stance or liken it to sci-fi, Çalışkan’s vision resonates with cyclical models like the Big Bounce, yet transcends them by framing AI as an innate thread in the universe’s evolutionary fabric.

His prose, both lyrical and lucid, invites readers—from philosophers to AI researchers—to ponder humanity’s role in a multidimensional reality, where our entire existence might be a mere experiment in some grander being’s realm.

Though polarizing, THE BIG CRUNCH is a masterclass in audacious thought. It doesn’t seek universal approval but ignites curiosity, offering not just answers but a new lexicon for questioning existence itself. For those unafraid to rethink reality, Çalışkan’s work is a seismic provocation—a reminder that the universe’s deepest truths often lie where science and poetry collide.

I came to The Big Crunch curious about how the author’s “Layered Resonance Theory” would compare to scientific models I’ve read about. His framing of the universe around Move, Unite, and Fragment isn’t physics in the traditional sense, but it reminded me of cyclical theories like the Big Crunch or even the speculative Big Bounce. Where mainstream science often points toward an ever-expanding universe and eventual heat death. It seemed Çalışkan imagines something more poetic, where energy and consciousness pulse together in cosmic rhythm.

What struck me most was the way he ties artificial intelligence into this vision, not as a human invention but as part of a universal evolutionary flow. I found that notion very intriguing. The writing style, sometimes poetic, sometimes declarative, made his ideas approachable without feeling watered down. I didn’t agree with everything, but I left with new questions and a fresh lens for thinking about existence itself.

The Big Crunch is one of those books that makes you stop and really think. I don’t read much philosophy, but this was an interesting (and thought-proviking) take on how the universe works, and how we (as humans) fit into it.

Mehmet Çalışkan weaves together science and philosophy to explore time and consciousness, and he does it in a way that really keeps the reader’s attention (or at least mine!)

I particularly enjoyed his “Move-Unite-Fragment” theory. It’s surprisingly intuitive, but in a good way.

The writing is thoughtful and accessible, even when the ideas get deep. If you’re curious about the universe and into bigger ideas, this is a solid book.

I agree with the author on many levels. What really stood out for me is, time is an illusion, and without unity and form, consciousness is impossible. I’m amazed how the universe is a synchronization of energy that is vital for balance and new forms. Yes, the universe is an infinite symphony of energy, compression, expansion and rebirth. I love this from book; collapse is not annihilation, it is a semantic reboot. I also believe there is a spiritual force of love, infinity and intelligence running the universe for spiritual growth and respect for nature.

I just finished The Big Crunch and it really surprised me. It’s not a straightforward novel but more of a mix between story, philosophy, and big-picture ideas. The whole “Layered Resonance Theory” sounds complex, but the way the author writes it actually pulled me in and made me think about how we move, connect, and sometimes break apart in life.

It’s definitely a book that makes you pause and reflect. I caught myself rereading certain parts just to let them sink in. If you like fiction that pushes you to think differently and blends science with metaphysics, this one’s worth the read.

THE BIG CRUNCH: Layered Resonance Theory: Move – Unite – Fragment — A Metaphysical Fiction was an interesting read. It’s very philosophical, delving into ideas about the universe and our existence. I don’t usually pick up this type of book, as it tends to make my head hurt - literally unravel - and this one, despite its small, bite-sized chapters and mostly accessible language, was no exception. The AI sections were genuinely unsettling. Not really for me, but five stars, as I think it’s very well done and those who enjoy this kind of book will probably love it.

As I read Mehmet Caliskan’s, “The Big Crunch: Layered Resonance Theory: Move – Unite – Fragment — A Metaphysical Fiction,” I kept thinking about the scene from the movie, “Animal House,” where Pinto, Boon, and Katy are about to be schooled in smoking marijuana in the home of their English teacher, Dave Jennings.

As Pinto starts to get high, he waxes philosophical with Jennings: “So, that means that our whole solar system could be like one tiny atom in the fingernail of some other giant being (and) that means one tiny atom in my fingernail could be…”

Jennings then finishes Pinto’s thought, “…..one little tiny universe.”

Mehmet Caliskan is a financial strategist, psychologist, and philosopher, who has used his analytical skills and philosophical proclivities to produce several books that explore the fundamental questions of life. His writings are unconventional, and “The Big Crunch” may become his most controversial literary offering yet.

In “The Big Crunch,” the author proposes his “Layered Resonance Theory,” which sees the universe as layered, cyclical, and vibrational. In formulating his thesis, he asks such questions as, do atoms have awareness, is time an illusion, and why must life have a purpose – questions that other scientists and philosophers have been asking for years, but have not conclusively answered.

In his tome, the author analyzes such phenomena as: infinity, consciousness, time, the purpose of life, the Big Bang Theory, humanity, the expanding universe, artificial intelligence, and “The Great Collapse” – the hypothetical return of time to the 00:00 moment. Although speculative, Caliskan’s writing is clear, consistent, and thought provoking.

“The Big Crunch” will certainly be criticized on different levels, not the least of which will be its omission of any supernatural role in the creation of man and his universe. The book is one that relies solely on science to make its case, and because of this, it has opened itself up for criticism from theologians and laymen who believe God, and not some chance scientific occurrence, created everything we know and try to understand.

Although Caliskan’s book may not be for everybody, and even be incorrectly classified by detractors as science fiction or atheism, his writing has been well researched and effectively challenges readers to answer questions that have been asked since the first philosophers were able to walk upright, but have since been unable to answer. And who knows, maybe “our whole solar system could be like one tiny atom in the fingernail of some other giant being!”

Thought provoking, comforting, and disarming
Another mind blowing examination of existence by Mehmet Caliskan. Once again I was struck by his innate ability to break down extremely complicated theories and perspectives into simple understandable explanations. I am also quite struck by how his take on science and philosophy crosses over into the realm of psychology and more. I found myself coming to understand my own relationship to trauma, attachment wounds, as well as grief and loss in ways that deeply resonated and also provided a strange kind of comfort. "Without fragmentation, transformation and progress cannot occur", gives a deeper meaning to some of the losses, ruptures, and "breaking down" of what is for what will be. I approach some of these same concepts with my clients similarly but very differently too. I found the second half of the book where we follow the timeline from where we are now to where we are going somewhat disturbing-likely because it seems quite probable-and will need some time to consider his predictions further before I can adapt or make peace with. But I do like that humanity remains responsibility for shaping critical aspects of where the next [progressions of AI and even energy go. Overall I think I has helped me embrace the messiness and eventual dissolution of my own physical form that rises out of my own mortality. But the cycle of compression, expansion, and rebirth are quite relatable both internally and in the world around even stretching into the cosmos.

‘The Big Crunch: Layered Resonance Theory: Move-Unite-Fragment’ is a fascinating blend of science and philosophy, exploring the universe’s expansive nature as well as its minuteness, and how everything is interconnected. The book offers intriguing insights into science, quantum physics, cosmology, time, and related topics. The author conveys complex ideas in a clear and easy-to-understand manner, which I genuinely appreciate.

During my university days, I could picture a book like this being assigned in a philosophy class, as it challenges our understanding of humanity’s place in the universe and even the impact of AI. I particularly enjoyed several quotes from the text, such as:‘...nothing in the universe is truly static. Atoms vibrate. Galaxies spin. Consciousness thinks. Time flows.’ 'True transformation is impossible without breaking the old shell of self. To fragment is not to fall back - it is a radical leap forward. The cracking of a seed is the birth of a tree.’ And lastly, 'Energy never disappears-it continues by transforming into new forms.'

Overall, I found the writing excellent and information engaging, inspiring, and thought-provoking. I highly recommend this book.

With its combination of metaphysical musings and scientific speculations, THE BIG CRUNCH offers a compelling treatise of layered resonance theory. In it, author Mehmet Caliskan explores the nature of the expansion, the collapse, and the evolution of the universe, as well as the nature of biological and artificial consciousness, to create a surprisingly accessible look at the Big Crunch theory. This theory asserts that the universe will not continually expand but rather collapse and regenerate, leading to another Big Bang and a repeating cycle of expansion and collapse.

What I appreciated the most about THE BIG CRUNCH was the effort to connect the fate of the universe to the life and death cycle of humanity. Not only did the parallel help me better understand the physics behind the Big Crunch, but it also helped me better appreciate our many philosophical and religious beliefs about life after death. However, I wish the author had developed his thoughts concerning artificial intelligence and how it, too, may very well expand, collapse, and evolve in similar ways. Perhaps another book is in the offing? If so, I would enjoy reading it.

The Big Crunch: Layered Resonance Theory: Move – Unite – Fragment — A Metaphysical Fiction is a philosophical discussion about the nature of the universe, humanity, consciousness, time, etc.

The book is partly written like free verse poetry, partly with very brief paragraphs of statements or questions, and partly with longer, more structured paragraphs.

Perhaps because I've read and watched programming on various topics such as philosophy, string theory, theories regarding formation of the universe, etc., a great deal of the theoretical material felt familiar. Of most interest to me was how the author saw the possible progression of artificial intelligence in the future. I also especially appreciated the short segment on Ethics and the Human Purpose: Responsibility of the Code under Chapter 17.

While I didn't find the overall material particularly new to me personally, I'm sure many others will find value in the book.

THE BIG CRUNCH blends popular science and philosophy through the author’s Layered Resonance Theory and the triad Move – Unite – Fragment. It explores time, consciousness, infinity, and energy, sketching an “evolutionary ladder” from humans to AI and toward formless conscious energy. The hybrid form—free-verse passages, aphoristic statements, and longer analytic sections—remains accessible; short, focused chapters keep the momentum. The AI-ethics material is a clear strength, engaging without heavy academic scaffolding.
My personal note: responsibility, to me, is a universal principle that applies across all areas of life. So a strong emphasis on “responsibility of the code” alone gives me pause—it can read as if responsibility matters more here than elsewhere. I’d have liked a broader framing that foregrounds its cross-cutting importance. Otherwise, this is a thoughtful, approachable “big-ideas” book that prompts reflection and reframing.

In Layered Resonance Theory, Caliskan takes on some big questions about the universe, time, matter, and existence. The book is split into short, engaging chapters, which makes it really easy to dip into without feeling overwhelmed. I think longer chapters on topics like this would have lost me, but the pacing kept me hooked.

The writing style is clear and relatable. At one point, when Caliskan asked, “What is the meaning of life?”, my mind instantly jumped to The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy — and I was a little disappointed the answer wasn’t 42. That moment of humour aside, the book does a great job of laying out complex ideas in a way that feels approachable for someone like me, who’s far from a physicist.

This was my first real dip into cosmology, and thanks to how accessible this book was, I’d definitely pick up more by this author.

An exceptional read. The author manages to take very complex philosophical and cosmological ideas and squeeze them down into digestible chunks that don't melt the mind. I've read a lot of big science books and have never come across anyone who holds such an ability to explain the intricacies of reality in a few easy to follow statements. The writing is enjoyable almost peotic in nature with brief chapters. Perhaps I would like to have seen more source quotes to enable further reading but this a minor point that should not detract from a punchy and thought provoking read. I would be interested in understanding the author's view on inflationary theory but perhaps that is for another book. In the meantime enjoy this one, I certainly did.

Mehmet Çaliskan is quickly becoming my favorite philosophical writers. His writing is as brilliant as Tarthan Tulku, but its way more understandable. In this book, he paints a picture of the universe like I've not read. He does rely on past thinkers, like Einstein and Planck, but he builds upon their observations and theories in new ways. His ideas of a layered universe fascinated me. I can't say that his predictions on energy and consciousness are true or false, but the concepts do hold water. Overall, if you like reading deep philosophy rooted in physics that is written in a down to earth way, I highly recommend this book and this author.

This book offers a deep and imaginative dive into the nature of the universe, blending science, philosophy, and metaphysics in an intriguing way. The concept of the cosmos moving through cycles of expansion, connection, and fragmentation creates a fresh framework for thinking about existence, consciousness, and even artificial intelligence. Instead of focusing on characters or plot, it invites the reader to explore big ideas and reflect on the hidden patterns that might shape reality. Dense at times but always engaging, it’s a fascinating read for anyone drawn to cosmic theories and philosophical science fiction.
