Titanic body parts fall from the sky onto a town. The guts and viscera of corpses are mysteriously absent. And humanity continues to dream of eternal life and eternal youth. Katakishi of the Divine Incursion Special Investigations Department is on the case to uncover the truth of these phenomena, and other secrets that hit closer to home...
Going into this manga with no knowledge apart from the short blurb, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it! In this first volume of Divine Incursions we follow two investigators visiting a rural town in order to find out more about the strange occurence of giant body parts falling from the sky - that's all I'm going to say as far as the plot goes.
Being the first volume, this felt both like an introduction to the world and being thrown into the deep end of the story at the same time. I think it worked though, makes you feel like you know some details already while trying to uncover the why. The coworker chemistry and banter between the two investigators provided nice contrast to the unresolved mystery. I will definitely be looking into reading more volumes as they get published, as well as reading the light novel.
THAT ENDING THOUGH! I really, really, really need the next volume already.
Thank you to Edelweiss, Kouya Ashitaka and Oumi Kifuru for providing this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
found this unexpectedly at the store and am glad I picked it up - it's a great start to the series, with two compelling supernatural investigators following up on three different leads. the stories are the right amount of creepy and intriguing. I also am enjoying this art style a lot! definitely want to see where this mermaid one is going....
