I read this book via an Amazon KINDLE Unlimited download.

In my search to satisfy my inner-child’s desire to read another book, I used Amazon’s Recommendation Function for Children’s Book, I selected this book. Back in the third grade, arithmetic [math] was one of my favorite subjects, and I always got an “A” on every test.

While having problems in math where just numbers are given are great in maintaining calculative skills in young children; they don’t really test children’s reading comprehension or their mathematical [logical] reasoning skills in converting a written problem into a mathematical one, which is what this book aptly attempts to do.

As an example:

Holly sold thrice the number of cookie boxes every day from the previous day. She started with selling 1 box the first day. By the end of the 4th day, how many cookie boxes did she sell? Answer is 40.

In this example, the child has to first understand that Holly sold three times as many boxes as the day before [1x3=3, 3x3=9, 9x3=27] and then add the number boxes sold in those four days [1+3+9+27= 40.]

The book features 5 sections with 10 problems in each section and cover such topics as: Multiplication, Time, Division, Money as well as problems involving pure Logic. The navigation feature for this book allows users [parents] to move easily around the pages of the book. Unfortunately, the download I received had a formatting issue towards the end; which can easily be resolved by going to the answer section of the book and copying the question so the intended solver can read it.

For wanting to stimulate the minds of its young readers and to endow them with the knowledge to be successful in solving these kinds of problems, my inner-child and I have given this book, 5 STARS.
