I love this series and I wasn't disappointed with this one! :)

I loved Justyn since his appearance, with his easygoing nature and womanizing ways that were hiding some very tender feelings! :)

Nissa was interesting too. While her character seems like stick-in-the-ass officer, she's all the opposite when outside the ranks.

The adventure was, as usual very fast paced and, obviously, very adventurous! It is simple, but still interesting and the writing wtyle is easy-going and relaxing!

I'll be looking forward to the next book! :)

Justyn Phoenix lives at Galaxy’s Edge with his two brothers and sister. Together they run a deep-space convoy with a little illegal smuggling on the side. They are cousins to the more famous treasure hunting Phoenix brothers from the previous Phoenix Adventure series titles. For three years, Justyn has admired, even fallen in love with, Nissa, thinking he is not worthy of a woman like her. Meanwhile, during those same three years, Nissa has tracked down and attempted to catch Justyn in the act of unlawful transactions, becoming obsessed. Now the pair must work together to recover one of the galaxy’s most vital and cherished historical documents, heading out into dangerous and deadly space beyond Galaxy’s Edge.

Beyond Galaxy’s Edge is a wonderful space escapade, full of exciting adventure and steamy romance. I have to admit that after reading the previous book, On a Rogue Planet, I wasn’t keen on the fact that the author opted to introduce readers to three more Phoenix brothers, plus a sister, before finishing off the first trio. However… Ms. Hackett made the right decision! Justyn and his brothers are a welcome addition to the Phoenix universe, and moving the setting to the edge of the known galaxy creates vast opportunities for exhilarating adventures.

First, Justyn. Think Han Solo. He’s a bad boy with a good heart, and he’s in love with Nissa. He’s dreamed of being with her for three years, but he wants more than a roll in the hay. He understands that his bad reputation would damage the career-driven Nissa, so he purposely keeps his interactions to light flirting and fun. He wants what is best for Nissa, and he isn’t what is best. Justyn is utterly swoon-worthy! I found Justyn to be a very worthy and sexy romantic lead.

Nissa is equality as noble, and she makes a great fit with Justyn. While he pulls out the adventure in her, Nissa allows Justyn to shine. I appreciate her internal struggles between doing what is right because it’s her job and doing what is good because it’s right. I am thankful that Nissa isn’t a woman who falls in love and decides her man is more important that her goals and ambitions. Rather, she is complex, and we discover that her upbringing and background have played a major role in what she thinks is best for her life.

But romance is only part of what makes Beyond Galaxy’s Edge such an enjoyable read. High action and adventure surrounding an impossible treasure hunt kept me reading until late in the night. The U.S. Constitution has been stolen! I have to admit that I cracked up when I discovered three of the five most important documents in the entire galaxy are from ancient Earth, and they are still intact. But just go with it. The theft sets up an amazing adventure that travels the course of four different planets, each with its own unique complications. While there are some incredibly lucky circumstances along the way, possibly a bit too coincidental, I found I was able to look past the fortunate occurrences and get wrapped up in the adventure. The situations afford our couple the opportunity to air deep secrets and hidden truths, developing their close bond and adding emotional intensity.

With all this goodness, I do have one small issue, which is truly a personal thing… Nissa is a reptilian humanoid. While I adore and appreciate the fact that Justyn finds her absolutely sexy, I have to say, the whole scales and vertical pupil thing, along with wider mouth, gave me the creeps a bit. I kept imagining a snake woman, and unfortunately, it wasn’t sexy.

Overall, Beyond Galaxy’s Edge is extremely fun and an enjoyable romance. The quintessential sci-fi adventure is exciting and action-filled. I adored Justyn and Nissa’s passion, and found the author creates a just the right balance between plot and romance. The treasure hunt is well thought-out, even with a couple of convenient plot twists. One need not have read the earlier Phoenix Adventure books, because Beyond Galaxy’s Edge focuses on a new set of Phoenix brothers, although the original set makes an appearance. I highly recommend Beyond Galaxy’s Edge, and look forward to more adventures!

An absolutely cracking sci-fi romance with the perfect balance of action, adventure and steam. I L feel more than a little in love with Justyn and adored Nissa.

The pace held my attention throughout, the writing is excellent, the characterisation is spot on and the plot was definitely out of this world.

I loved BEYOND GALAXY’S EDGE by Anna Hackett, bk #5 in her PHOENIX action/adventure, Space Opera series. The PHOENIX series reminds me of the early Star Wars movies/#4-7, with light action, great adventure & detailed settings - except steamy intimacy scenes have been added.

The book BEYOND GALAXY’S EDGE picks up with Justyn Phoenix/MMC, cousin to the Phoenix brothers and Malin in the earlier books. Justyn is an alleged freelance space smuggler and also assists his 2 brothers in operating a space convoy business - moving people and cargo on the outer edges of the known galaxy - when he is available. Justyn is strongly attracted to government security patrol, GSS Capt Nissa Sanders/FMC, stationed in the the Outer Edges for the past 3 years. Sanders is very “black and white,” seeing it as her job to arrest rather small time smugglers and scoundrels as well as the much more dangerous criminals, so Justyn and Capt Nissa run across each other frequently. When a highly valuable and precious ancient galactic document disappears, both Justyn and Capt Sanders plan to track it down. Justyn looks forward to the adventure and the potential Finders Fee; Capt Nissa could earn a promotion and a better assigned job location than the outer, wild edge of the known galaxy - actually, everything she thinks she’s ever wanted.

I highly recommend BEYOND THE GALAXY’S EDGE to readers who enjoy action/adventure, Space Opera, or fantasy novels with a light touch, (steamy) romance, and a sweet HEA. BEYOND can be read as a standalone title, but the prior books introduce characters which are secondary characters in the books that follow. I believe more enjoyment is possible when read in order.

This was such a fun opposites attract romance for Justyn Phoenix and Patrol Captain, Nissa Sanders. She's so very rule oriented and he's a flirty playboy...but not really. He's got a ton of feelings for her but knows she wouldn't feel the same for him and his bad reputation. He does take the opportunity, though, to work on a job with her to find the treasure and, yeah, things heat up between them ;P Expect to get caught up in the adventure, action, drama, danger and hot romance as these two wonderful characters go on their quest and find love along the way. Good fun!

BEYOND GALAXY'S EDGE was a fun, action packed romance that pits two "enemies" against each other only to discover they have a lot more in common then they ever expected. Nissa has been after Justyn for years now but has never been able to actually catch him doing something illegal. This cat and mouse game has frustrated and intrigued Nissa but the straight-laced Captain knows that nothing can come of her attraction to Justyn. With an easy smile and a load of charm, Justyn seems like he doesn't care about anything but underneath it all he's actually fallen hard for Nissa. I loved how confident Justyn was and how much he respects Nissa for exactly who she is; he truly wants Nissa to be happy even if it means she won't be with him.

While Justyn is the charmer, Nissa is more stoic and by-the-book but once she begins the hunt for the US Constitution she discovers a surprising love of treasure hunting. I was surprised by Nissa's appearance but I appreciate Anna Hackett incorporating some less human looking aliens. Nissa's mother was from a reptilian planet and because of this, Nissa has golden skin, scale patches on her face and body, yellow eyes with elongated pupils, and she's completely bald. Nissa tries so hard to keep her distance from Justyn and uses her assumptions about his morals and character to keep a wall between but once they're deep into uncharted space, she quickly learns who Justyn really is.

Patrol Captain Nissa Sander has spent her years at the galaxy’s edge trying to catch Justyn Phoenix smuggling illicit goods across the border. He’s trying to catch her attention. His plans are working a whole lot better than hers – at least when this story begins.

He’s too good a smuggler to let her find anything illegal on his ship. And she’s too good an officer to stop trying. But he’s certain he’s not good for her or good enough for her – and she’d agree with that assessment a little too readily.

Still they can’t stop baiting each other every time they cross paths. Even though they both know they shouldn’t.

At least, not until a thief makes off with one of the original foundational documents of the galactic law that she serves and he mostly gets around. Someone has stolen the US Constitution. The one, the only, the original. Or so everyone believes.

When it is discovered that the constitution that was stolen is old, but not nearly old enough, the hunt is on. Nissa needs a treasure hunter. Justyn has his cousins at the other side of the galaxy eager to help restore a piece of history – just as they did with the Mona Lisa in At Star’s End.

If Nissa can manage to trust a smuggler not to steal the artifact out from under her nose, her ambitions, and her obligations. Because she’ll have to, as she absolutely cannot trust anyone else. Not the father for whom she’s never been enough. And especially not the competing agendas of her GSS superiors, who are using them both in a dangerous plan of their own.

A plan for which Nissa is intended to take the fall – unless she can smuggle her way out. With Justyn’s help. And the heart she never thought he had.

Escape Rating A-: I’ve enjoyed every single book in the updated Phoenix Adventures as I did the originals. Although I still like the original covers better. And hopefully your imagery mileage varies.

Even more than ten years later, the “cousins” half of the Phoenix story still feels like Firefly, in spite of the years and the parsecs. Or however you want to measure things. The Phoenix Brothers on the one side of the galaxy, the ones in At Star’s End, are treasure hunters. The ones at galaxy’s edge are mostly convoy operators. They take colonists out into the black to establish new colonies in risky situations. Or at least unknown situations.

But Justyn is a bit too wild to captain convoys. Or too adventurous. Or both. He might be a better fit with his cousins the treasure hunters, as this story proves. Because he loves a good chase, which is exactly what he’s been doing with Patrol Captain Nissa Sander. Chasing her until she catches him. Over and over and over. He’s just never stayed caught. Not until now.

Both Justyn and Nissa have a lot to overcome to save the Constitution AND reach a happy ever after that neither of them quite believes they deserve. He knows his well-earned reputation will tank her career. She’s been trained to never let her own desires get in the way of her father’s ambitions for her – even if he’s trained her just as hard that she’ll never meet them.

Her superiors think they have her between a rock and a hard place. She knows she can’t trust them and she’s afraid to trust Justyn with the mission – let alone anything else.

The way that their treasure hunt beyond the borders of chartered space teaches them that they can trust each other with everything managed to be both a delightful bit of gaslamp/steampunk in an otherwise completely science fictional universe AND a thrill-a-minute chase on top of a combustible romance.

If you’ve ever had a yen to try science fiction romance, or if you’ve heard about this terrific series but haven’t been able to find a copy, this “remaster” of the classic is a fantastic chance to read a rocket-fueled adventure AND romance.

Adventure follows all the Phoenix boys!
The Phoenix cousins who live on the edge of the galaxy are the stars of this adventure, and it’s a doozy. Justyn is the family's treasure hunter. Dare is the leader of the Caravan that leads groups into the unexplored universe, while Rynan handles security for the group. Justyn is laid back but also tenacious when he’s hot on the trail of a treasure. That brings Justyn to the crosshairs of GSS Captain Nissa Sander on the Resolute Freedom Patrol Ship. He’s okay with that, though, because Justyn has the hots for Nissa, and it seems Nissa is attracted to him, too. Nissa puts her job first; it’s ingrained in her by her father and her family background. That also goes for Justyn. The 3 brothers are very close because of the horrific childhood they were subjected to.
Justyn and Nissa are charged with searching for a sacred Terran document, the U.S. Constitution, that was lost almost a thousand years ago. Where is the original, and who was responsible for its disappearance? An excellent bogus copy had been on display at the museum for almost 1000 years in place of the real document.
There’s so much running for their lives and terrifying, dangerous planets that keep the action at turbo speed. Every treasure hunter and criminal is hot on Justyn and Nissa’s trail. AND, through this chaos, love finally wins. I love the brave and daring Phoenix family. Linda

Coming from Africa there is one thing I would never ever consider sexy and that's reptiles. Plus the 1980's tv series V proved just how unsexy they are in human form. Anna Hackett proved me wrong, Nissa is beautiful and sensuous and I can fully believe that Justyn took one look at her and was gone over her. (And yes actually snake' skin is smooth and silky for reals)
She is also like all AH's h's strong, independent and wonderfully no nonsense. I love that about Anna Hackett's writing the most, in fact after reading far far too many so called strong women story lines that end up with a whiny pathetic doormat ( which sadly fill the Romance genre and most predominantly the science fiction and paranormal subgenre), I have to binge on AH's work to sooth my inner feminist, and she always delivers.
And she manages to make each character in every book individual and wonderfully unique much as the world today and in the future would be.
I truly wish other science fiction writers would note and learn from Ms Hackett, just because some time in the future there might be a dirth of women, or the world might turn more mercenary or aliens from out there might capture and enslave lesser beings, it would make women stronger, harder, and tougher not less. Our own history proves that.

If adventure is what you're after, the Phoenix family offers plenty, and this branch—the cousins who operate on the shady side of business, known as smuggling, doesn't disappoint. Justyn Phoenix and her siblings endured a horrific childhood that shaped their character and outlook on life. The experience they've gained makes them a force to be reckoned with in the underworld they inhabit, and Justyn's attraction to Captain Nissa Sanders draws them into a mission that puts not only their lives at risk, but also the safety of many others. Captain Sanders caught my attention with her physical attributes and skills. Pressed by high expectations that keep her struggling while her heart tries to redirect her, Nissa finds herself weighing options and confronting her doubts. Justyn didn't act like a martyr. Her arguments struck me as weak. Nissa was a strong woman. I appreciated the teamwork and the strength Nissa gradually acquired to make a decision that was truly her own. The story kept me completely entertained with plenty of action, suspense, conflicting emotions and feelings, a strong struggle against what is morally right, strange creatures, exciting descriptions, romance, and passion.

Great Addition To A Great Series!

Another great addition to the Phoenix brothers (and cousins! 😁) series! This whole series has been a hoot. A combination of Clive Cussler’s books and the films like IndianaJones, National Treasure, StarWars and a jot and tittle from a whole slew of any action movie you might have ever seen and you’ve got Anna Hackett’s Phoenix clan. This book featured the Phoenix cousins, specifically Justyn Phoenix, and the intrepid Captain Nissa Sander of the GSS who has been chasing itinerant smuggler Justyn for the last 3 years. Nissa’s fondest dream (at first) is to clap Justyn in irons and throw away the key and then proceed her climb up the promotion ladder of the Galactic Space Service. Along the way the two are forced to team up in order to find the US Constitution which, along with other documents, forms the basis of law and order in the known galaxy. They must find it before all law and order collapses. But along the way it turns out that the Constitution is not the only thing that needs to be found by our adventurous couple. This is a rollicking enemies-to-lovers story that will keep you riveted from the first page.

God these books make me smile!

Justyn and Nissa’s story was just so much fun to read. And as funny as this sounds I'm about to begin teaching U.S government and the Constitution this fall. This story although a great action, adventure space romance also brought home how truly important documents like the Constitution and the Magna Carta are they represent the rights that all free citizens should have and the importance of them being remembered. That being said this is just another fine example of Ann Hackett at her action adventure best. You can't help calling in love with gorgeous strong Justyn Phoenix he's a man who knows what he wants and he lives his life to the fullest. Nissa is strong, proud and someone who follows the rules, but she been living her life for others and not herself. Together these two solve a mystery, rescue a set important artifact and find the most important treasure of all love.💖

If you want a rollicking good time of an SFR series, you absolutely can’t go wrong with Anna Hackett’s Phoenix Adventures. I love this entire series – it’s a terrific blend of sci-fi adventure with hot and heart-stopping romance.

The Phoenixes of the Phoenix Adventures are two sets of good looking rogues who are the opposite sides of one galaxy-spanning family. Brothers Dathan, Zayn and Niklas Phoenix operate a successful relic hunting company on the slightly more settled side of the galaxy, and their cousins Dare, Rynan and Justyn (also brothers) operate an equally successful but slightly less famous convoy-leading company (and smuggling business) out on the galaxy’s edge.

This is Justyn’s story, and it is quite a wild ride. Because Justyn the smuggler finds himself on a dangerous treasure hunt. And it’s all a very elaborate ploy. Justyn isn’t nearly as interested in the artifact he’s chasing as he is in the Galactic Security Services Captain who is chasing it.

Justyn has spent years putting himself in the way of Captain Nissa Sander. She never manages to find his contraband cargo, no matter how many times she stops and searches his ship. She’s completely unwilling to admit to herself that her encounters with Justyn are the high point of her job. She keeps fooling herself that a stellar career in Galactic Security Services is all she wants. And she’s damn good at it. But it isn’t what she wants for herself. It’s what she tells herself she wants in order to please her demanding father, a career GSS officer who never quite made it to the big leagues.

Justyn keeps letting Nissa catch him. He just makes sure she never catches him with anything he shouldn’t have. His ship has way more hidey-holes than Nissa will ever find. So he lets her keep finding him over and over, just so that he can see her. And tease her a bit. He knows that he’s not what she wants or deserves, but he can’t resist arranging those few minutes in her company.

They both believe that they will always be on opposite sides of a very high fence of legalities. Until someone breaks into a museum and steals one of the founding documents of interstellar law and democracy – the U.S. Constitution from old (meaning our) Earth.

The treasure hunt gets even more complicated when they chase down the thief – only to find out that the document he stole was a forgery – created almost a thousand years ago. Does the real Constitution even survive?

Nissa is tasked by her commanding officer to find the real constitution, if it exists, and deliver it to the admiral personally, and at any or all costs. The Phoenix brothers (both sets) enlist the aid of any family and friends they have to track the course of the ship originally carrying the Constitution, and trace it beyond the galaxy edge, outside the confines of civilized space.

Nissa has no jurisdiction beyond the edge, only a powerful motivation to protect her career and especially her father’s pension from the admiral’s machinations. But just as they get close, Nissa discovers that the superiors she has always relied on cannot be trusted. The only people she can count on are the Phoenix brothers who are out there with her. And especially Justyn.

When all hell breaks loose, and Justyn and Nissa finally find themselves on the same side. For once. And possibly forever.

Escape Rating A-: This was a terrific adventure. It had all the elements that made At Star's End so much fun. Nissa is working for the forces of law and order, just as Eos planned to turn the relics she was hunting over to the Galactic Institute. Both Nissa and Eos were betrayed by the people who should have been on their side. And most importantly, neither Dathan nor Justyn were anywhere near as bad as their reputations were cracked up to be.

Not that Justyn isn’t a smuggler, because he is. But he seems to do it either mostly for sport, and teasing Nissa, or because he’s turning most of the profits over to an array of charities he supports on various convoy-stopover planets. He’s a little bit Robin Hood. He also mostly just carries small luxury items, like cigars or fancy booze. Nothing big, nothing worth killing over.

And he really likes to torment Nissa with the possibility of catching him.

Except for his unwillingness to admit that he’s been in love with Nissa for years, Justyn knows exactly what he’s doing.

Nissa, on the other hand, is kind of a mess. She’s a great GSS officer, but her heart isn’t in it. Her father cuts her to ribbons every single time they talk, and he’s always pressuring her about something. Basically, daddy is re-living his own career through Nissa, and her opinions generally don’t matter. She should be old enough to know better, but she seems to be conditioned to obedience, which really bites her in the ass when the admiral both bribes and blackmails her at the same time.

It was fairly obvious to this reader who the really evil person is in this mess. Nissa should have figured it out a hell of a lot sooner – it would have saved everyone a world of hurt. Of course, if she had, this story wouldn’t contain nearly as much edge-of-the-seat excitement, and our hero and heroine wouldn’t have been forced into close proximity so often that they were forced to acknowledge their mutual feelings.

Those two had enough frustrated chemistry to light the rocket boosters all by themselves. When they finally get close, its explosive.

Admittedly, I initially wished that the author continued on with stories for the initial trio of Phoenix brothers because I need Niklas' story! But Justyn is also a cool character- the cool pirate with heart who was constantly chased by Nissa, a captain with the Galactic Security Services. I loved their banter and the way that Justyn ruffled Nissa's feathers, (or should I say scales) and the way Nissa started to relax and enjoy the adventure. Overall, a fun romp in space with plenty of action and romance. Another great book in the series (just FYI, this is a re-do of an older series which the author is reintroducing)

Justin and Nissan were a great match from the start. I enjoyed the adventure but the characters were wonderful. It was refreshing to see a hero who knew his heart from the beginning and to have a heroine who told the truth quickly. I hate the old trope of lying about something through an entire book and suddenly everything is fine at the end. An excellent read that I definitely recommend.

Wow!!! That was GREAT!!

Justyn Phoenix and his brothers have deep dark past. Justyn had done his best to overcome it. He has a few other secrets as well. Nissan Sanders is a very talented pilot and captain. She takes her job seriously and enjoys arresting Justyn. A hunt brings them together. Nissan fights her feelings and expectations. It is an adventure you do not want to miss.

Captain Nissa Sander is ambitious, and when a chance to track down and bring the US Constitution to the authorities comes up, she leaps at the chance even though it means working with suspected smuggler Justyn Phoenix. In the end, Justyn is one of the good guys and her employer isn't as wonderful as she had hoped. Easy fun read.

As usual, Ms. Hackett captured my attention by the very first chapter, and how two opposite people can be together when Captain Nissa has been chasing a smuggler for three years and not wanting to know that Justyn Phoenix, she is so into him. When they teame up to find an ancient US document, they must rely on each other to find it.

This lands somewhere between 3.5-4 stars for me. I found both characters a bit annoying and the writing felt a lot like a Wattpad fanfic sometimes. The actual storyline was good but I wasn’t the biggest fan this time around. But the next book is Niklas and Darc and I’ve been waiting for that one since the first book. I have high hopes!
