Jinx and Toombs from the Hard Rock Harlots series spend their first Christmas together in the Great Smoky Mountains and exchange gifts that will alter the course of their relationship.
Short story is best read after Kendall Grey's Strings, Beats, and Nocturnes. Love Notes contains graphic language and sexual content. Not suitable for readers under the age of 18.
Calm like an F-bomb*, Kendall Grey writes books about fierce women rockers who have a hard time keeping their clothes on, gender-swapped Norse gods who don't understand modern idioms, middle-aged hemophobic Bloodwitches, and the occasional murderer. Her aliases include K.G. Green (ASK THE BLOOD series), Kendall Day (FALLING FOR MR. SLATER), Seven Slade (COMING OUT), and she is 1/5 of Thor Cox (GRAFFITI CITY series).
Kendall owns Thunderfoot Studio, a small but mighty independent digital art studio. She lives near Athens, Georgia with her dashing geek husband, a one-eyed dachshund that thinks she's a cat, and an incorrigible yet adorable mutt whose ice-blue eyes will steal your heart and hold it for ransom.
It's been almost a year since Jinx and Toombs have been together. This Christmas vacation they decide to escape on a cabin in the mountain and stay together, the two of them, away from their friends and families.
This year hadn't been perfect though and they deal with a serious issue in their relationship. An issue that they need to find the guts and face it or else it could be something that would destroy their relationship. They also decide that the gifts that they are going to exchange will be in the form of notes.
Thoughts can be trained. They can be conditioned to trick us into doing things we normally wouldn’t. But feelings are channeled purity and honesty, like a spring that won’t be diverted or tamed. They change at their own whims and nobody else’s. If only I knew how to trick my feelings the way I can trick my brain.
Jinx and Toombs (or else Gianna & Jeff) were my favorite couple in the Hard Rock Harlots series. I couldn't miss a novella that was made on them. And I don't regret reading this, because it was cute and sweet and really liked reading about them once again.
I did have my 'eh' moments though. First of all, there was something missing. Literally missing. The whole novella was troubled about something that happened and we have no clue what happened [although I think I'm pretty much sure.. ] It annoyed me because it wasn't something that took place in the previous books and it didn't clarify it in this one as well. A big questionmark and a puzzle that was never solved. Gah!
Also, I can't say I enjoyed the last page of the book. I don't get that Rax is the solution of their problem. And just letting this hang out there. Why? Why the mystery and the questions? Just to make me feel tempted and get a new book? Nah, thanks.
Other than that, it was a lovely novella for a favorite couple of mine, perfect if you like something short, hot and sweet to read in cold, winter nights. ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
I love you. With all my heart, with all my breath, with all my body.
Love Notes is a follow up novella to Jinx and Toombs story. This Christmas comes with a lot of first for this couple; first Christmas, first time being alone; and the first time the really open up their hearts and communicate. It's probably something they should have done a long time ago, but with being on tour and constantly around other people there never really was the chance. This past year has been an adjustment for the two, Jinx trying to be who Toombs needs her to be, her internal struggle and finally coming to terms with what she wasn't willing to admit before. They have more love then they know what to do with, both feeling like a failure in being able to please one another, they need to come up with a solution that will fill both needs with out jeopardizing what they have.
When two bottoms fall in love, one always loses out.
This is a series I truly enjoy, while it satisfies my smut cravings it also feeds the romantic in me. There is so much heart behind it all. Love this little Christmas time novella and it was a perfect teaser to get me all excited for what's to cum next!
I've been a huge fan of this series since it first came out and Jinx and Toombs are my favorite couple; something about their vulnerability and honesty that makes them very unique. So imagine my excitement when I found out about this novella, soooo happy!
The band is about to finish a tour and everyone is making plans with their significant others for the holidays. Since they are constantly surrounded by people, Jinx is looking forward spending some alone time with Toombs and they've decide to go up to a cabin in the mountains and have a white Christmas. Their relationship has been suffering because there's a lack of communication, they love each other deeply but they can't seem to find the right rhythm in the bedroom, so the goal for this trip is to figure things out and come to an agreement. How? Banging each others brains out, until they find a solution, sounds fun right? well duh! is a Kendall Grey book, so of course is going to be fun...
I liked this book but unfortunately I can't rate higher than three stars and here's why; first the story felt like it had a huge chuck of it missing, both characters kept mentioning events that happened during a birthday fest celebration and I felt lost since this hadn't even been mentioned prior to the story or in any of the anterior books, so it was confusing and what pissed me off more was that there was a party that sounded like it was super fun, and we weren't invited, what's up with that? The second thing that ticked me off was the ending, I freaking hate cliffhangers and/or inconclusive endings and especially in a novella, come on!!! that was just cruel to leave us hanging like that just when they finally admitted to the truth about what would be the only solution to their dilemma. As mad as I am right now after this ending, I'm also super excited for what's more to come, so I guess I'll have to wait and see in the mind time, Rock On!!
I really enjoyed this novella. It was great to get back to my favorite couple of this series. I loved the way the novella was written and it's flow! 4.5 stars.
This book actually left me disappointed, and I am really sorry to have to say that, because I love Kendall Grey's books, and I love Jinx and Toombs. Kendall Grey is an amazing author. However, this story just was not what I thought it would be, and I honestly have to say I would have preferred if Jinx and Toombs' story was left at Beats. The story just felt like I was starting in the middle of another story that I had not read before. There were constant references to Eve's birthday party but no details, and then to find out that the story is not complete and it will not be completed until next year was a serious let down. I thought we were getting a love story about Toombs and Jinx, there were glimpses of it in Love Notes but not enough, and in the end, I just felt like we got everything but that.
Found out about this on FB. Intrigued, as I always am about what kind of crazy, kinky stuff KG is up to, and decided to download it to give it a whirl. Turns out, this is only 52 pages, so I was able to get dinner started and read this while it cooked. Toombs and Jinx were not my favourite pairing of this series probably because they were the hardest for me to understand/appreciate. This short story gives a bit more insight into what makes each of them tick and how important they are to each other. There is some kinky-fuckery going on here, so be sure to heed the warnings before you get started. Sounds like we'll be seeing more novellas about the band in 2015. Give me strength-it will be a train wreck that I won't be able to resist.
This was a random surprise find on amazon.I am so glad Kendall Grey is writing more Hard Rock Harlots stories i can't wait to read more of Jinx and Toombs.
I was so excited to get to see what Toombs and Jinx were up to We get to go to one of my favorite places Gatlinburg, with them in this short story. There's no doubt that Jinx and Toombs are in love and this book hits in a problem I was afraid would happen when I finished Beats but never expected to get to explore My heart broke a little bit. I cried a tear and I'm dying to know how this works out Its kendall Grey so you know no one writes a sex scene like Kendall and she doesn't disappoint but I'm worried about Jinx and Toombs and can nit wait for more I think it refreshing to see real life relationship problems addressed because these are character that I fell in love with hard in the Hard Rock Harlots. I can't wait to see how Kendall wraps it all up together I chose to believe love conquers all
If you've not read the Hard Rock Harlots Series get on with it before you read this short story or you will be lost Strings Beats and Nocturnes are some if my favorite reads but take the warning in the description seriously Then, sit back and enjoy the Killer Buzz Float ride Long Live The Rock
I was expecting this to be a crude, fun Christmas story. But it was just awkward and uncomfortable. Jinx and Toombs love each other but they are not sexually compatible. I appreciate Grey wanting to go there - where HEAs aren't easy and automatic for everyone. But this book is a serious downer. Also, fyi, it's not complete. It will be continued in a full length novel in 2015.
This was a short, hot read involving Jinx and Toombs for the holidays. It's definitely not your "normal" holiday read, but there's still sweetness involved when you read the letters they write to each other. I really like them and am rooting for them as a couple. I'm looking forward to the next book in this crazy series of dysfunctional rock stars!
I feel like they know the problem and love each other but I don't understand how they can share each other. And Rax back in the picture? What about Eve? Won't she be upset? Maybe it won't be sexual, just guidance. And what is this party all about? We never got any of that info? I need they next book right now!
Loved! Jinx and Toombs were my favorite couple so it was awesome to get a little more of them. And oh my, definitely a novel use for Christmas lights in here!
Great snip it into the lives of the band members of Cherry Buzz Float. One always wonders about the complexities of two sub’s who find themselves together, but both still needing and craving the domination they need to feel whole. The writer shows the complexities of this wonderfully through the POV of both main characters. I knocked this one down a star simply due to a pet peeve of mine and that’s for the use of the three letter word I never will consider a word. Yes, it describes the product of a males orgasm, but again with the spelling. This writer I know for a fact has unbelievable class and intelligence to NOT use this dialect, but, it happened. However, one could say this debate is as old as – less filling, tastes great – kind of thing. I look forward to continuing the series and regret taking so long with catching up. This series is a definite do not miss and one of my favorites of all time.

Review: The Hard Rock Harlots series is one of my all-time favorites. So when I saw this one on Amazon I flipped my lid! I had no idea Kendall was continuing this series, it’s like the best christmas present ever! (Thanks Kendall!)
Love Notes focuses on Jinx and Toombs, who are actually my favorite couple in this series. I think that’s because their journey was so difficult, they had so much to overcome just to be together. It was also a bit darker, and kind of taboo ;)
They have been together for about a year and this is their first Christmas together. There are some underlying issues in their relationship they haven’t been facing. And it is time for them to communicate or risk losing each other. This is a "what happens after the HEA" type of novel.
Sometimes life throws curveballs that force us to rethink the framework for our relationship, shuffle things around, and find ways to make old routines fit with new changes.
So they decide to get away for the holidays to be alone and work on their relationship. The crux of the problem is sexual. They both love each other very much, but neither is getting what they need sexually. We know that Toombs is a submissive, and it was pretty obvious in Beats that Jinx was becoming his Dom just to please him. But when she has to do this she is not being fulfilled sexually. In addition, she really dislikes hurting him because she’s not a sadist, and Jinx is a hardcore masochist so he needs her to be.
We both have to become someone we’re not to satisfy the other.
What will they do?
Well, first they have to communicate, and communicate they do!!! I loved how they did this, and how I could feel their love for each other through the pages. I felt terrible for them, but I really felt they could work through this. Just how? Well we only get a glimpse of what is to come and it is very surprising!
Basically, this is the intro to Hard Rock Harlots B-Side–what happens after the HEA. So I think all fans of the Hard Rock Harlots series should read it! It is very short but just what I needed when I’m strapped for time doing all things holiday. That’s the only problem I had with Love Notes–it was too short! I wanted more more more!!!
However, Kendall promises there will be more, and that all our questions will be answered in the year to come! I’m soooooo excited!!! WooHoo!
P.S. I loved how The Gift of Magi was emulated. ;)
I am a BIG fan of this series. I am a HUGE fan of the dark and deep Toombs. He captured my attention in the first book and I havent looked at another since....well ok another of his band members since...LOL
So imagine how super excited I was to hear she was making more about my fav couple?? I one clicked this the day it went live and went nuts that I had to wait a few days to read it...GROWL
So now I sat down and devoured the book. I gotta say at FIRST I was not a happy camper. Listening to Jinx tell how things are STRAINED for her and my tall dark tall drink of water. My heart hurt. Then hearing about all the things the two are doing just made my head spin. I remember closing the book and saying "NOOOO dont ruin my couple". So I cooked lunch and dived back in. I need my Toombs fix. I need to reconnect with Jefferson.
As I continue to story I literally had a light bulb go off and I said "GENIUS". Kendall is a GENIUS! She is really making our characters take a good hard look at their relationship and making them come to terms with what isn't working. We know they have love and love it the key but they have some "Needs" that the other isnt able to full fill. When I finished the book I had some tears and I cannot wait for their "plan" to correct their relationship.
I decided to make this my first read of the New Year and I am so glad I did. A short read from one of my favorite authors Kendall Grey.
This is a continuing story for the Hard Rock Harlots series featuring Jinx and Toombs. I was so excited when I found out she was giving us a little bit more of our favorite rockers. Letty and Shades make a quick appearance; Rax and Eve are in the background as well.
However, the story is really about Jinx, Toombs, and their love, told in alternating points of view by the main characters. I absolutely love that because we get to be in their heads and know what they are thinking. It is almost a year into their relationship and they are totally in love and lust with each other but having a hard time navigating their sexual kink issues. A Christmas get-a-away giving them some much needed alone time allows them to express through letters to each other what they want out of the relationship and what each of them needs. They come to a decision on how they can fix their problems giving us an idea of what might be in store for this unconventional couple in 2015.
I expect nothing less than excellence from Kendall Grey in her writing and I was not disappointed. The story flowed beautifully and really stayed true to the characters we had grown to love.
I cannot wait to read more; hopefully we can get more of this electric couple as well as the rest of the rowdy group of rockers we have come to adore.
BOOK: Love Notes SERIES: Hard Rock Harlots AUTHOR: Kendall Grey Release date: Available Now Reviewer: Nikki I Stars (O's): OOOOO
Jinx and Toombs are such a beautifully f**ked couple. They are perfect together in that they love without walls, while never being completely sated.
Within these few chapters, Kendall Grey has gifted her readers with hot, steamy sex, as well as humor and angst. I found myself teary eyed and longing to protect them, scoop them up in my warmth and give them the safety net they so desperately need.
The characters of Jinx and Toombs are forever seated in my heart as cherished friends. I can't wait to find out what Kendall has in store for the rest of the band!

I've been salivating for more Toombs since the end of Beats, he is by far my favorite of the series. This book wasn't quite what I expected. Yeah, it was a shorty, but novellas always are so I can't fault it for that. The fact that it will continue on is enough to keep me happy in my pants.
I guess my biggest issue with this one is the level of disappointment I felt at realizing the HEA that happened in Beats was only temporary in some aspects. Don't get me wrong, I like that Toombs and Jinx are still committed and in love, but the other side of the coin really broke apart my happy place from the ending of Beats and Nocturnes....
I'm giving this one four stars instead of my normal Kendall Fucking Grey five fucktastic stars.... I'm sticking with her though, I will try to trust the awesomeness that is her....
Right so, Hard Rock Harlots is my favourite Rock series and to be honest I thought it was finished so I was so excited when I got this rec from a friend
Continuing story of Toombs and Jinx, who are still totally in love but are finding they aren't sexually compatible....both are submissive and Toombs is also a masochist. Jinx tries to be what he wants but is not naturally dominant and doesn't really enjoy inflicting pain.
They go away alone for Christmas and exchange letters to each other trying to explain what they are feeling and come to the conclusion that the answer is Rax.....well dam, the one we all love to hate or hate to love is going to be putting in an appearance again and I can't wait
Bring on the continuing story, can't wait, only hope we don't have to wait too long!!!
This little naughty novella gave me just what I wanted... MORE Jinx and Toombs. I adore this couple. With all of their quirks and flaws they are in essence, a perfect pair. Opposites do not always attract. These two are kindred. What they have is powerful. And complicated. For them- it's endless frustration. For us? It's endless perfection. Kendall really brings these two to life in this sweet, super sexy short. Filled with humor, love, a few surprises, and Kendall Grey magic. While I found it wholly satisfying I was still left wanting MORE. I simply can't get enough of Jinx and Toombs. And lucky for us, we get a full dose of Killer Buzz Float in 2015. Seriously, what more could you ask for?
Love Notes, the novella by Kendall Grey, is one hot little chaser which truly enhances the Hard Rock Harlots Series. My absolute favorite thing about this series is it's unapologetically passionate characters. I am always amazed at the strengths revealed by each character's vulnerabilities and the absolute commitment each has living their life completely.
Love Notes does not disappoint. Like all good shots, it packs a punch and whets the appetite for a little more. I enjoyed getting to see the point to which Jinx and Toombs relationship has progressed. Their connection is truly a rare and beautiful one. This first Christmas they share together is pivotal and precious . I cannot wait to see what awaits them in th he next Hard Rock Harlots Novel.
This was not what I was expecting and I say that in a good way. Kendall took me on a surprising ride and made me do a whole heap of thinking. What happens after the 'happy ever after'? What happens if everything is perfect, except for one thing? Conversely, what happens if "one thing" is perfect and everything else isn't? Would you rather have love or commitment? Or something temporary?
I love Toombs and Jinx. Toombs is one of my few book boyfriends and I loved catching up with him some more. My one real complaint is that I wanted a full length novel and I'm hoping that this story will continue to be unpacked more.
Kendall I have to say that was very mean not having this ending of Toombs & Jinks solved..... Will I wait .. of course I bloody well will.... but Girly it better be early 2015!! Cause I want to find out there HEA all be it one that will be different to most it's still a beautiful love story... a true love....a love that there willing to do for each other that the other needs .. So in saying this they have to go to someone to learn these things... So purchase this Awesome Book ... Read this Awesome Book & Get ready for the next Book Out... Cause I have & I am totally ready... for the next!! SO GET ONE CLICKING PEOPLE..... :-)
Wow-just wow a Great novella to continue Jinx & Tombs story
I do Not want this to spoil anything BUT I LOVED this story. The SEX scenes are VERY graphic but the author is Kendall Grey and it is a Hard Rock Harlots story and I DID not expect anything different. I loved getting to know each of these characters better. The Love Notes chapters have several highlights from me.. When they go outside after a specific scene was probably my favorite part! I have to admit RAX has always been my favorite BUT I feel Toombs REALLY touched/won my
It's funny - a year ago, I read the Rock Harlots books over the holiday and fell in love with the entire crew. I especially loved Jinx and Toombs and of course, Rax. This little novella was an awesome reunion with my favorite characters. The issues they are having are not a surprise. I love that the band is still as close as ever. I would love to get a few more details about their "Birthday Club" gatherings... Kendall, do you think we could get some deets?
Great read and I can't wait for it to continue! Thanks Kendall as always!
Of course the writing is phenomenal, Kendall is an all timer for me, BUT, I can't get down with Toombs and Jinx!! The only good thing that came out of this is more Rax!!! OK, not the ONLY thing. I think Toombs is a sweetheart with a dark side, but I'm just so frustrated with them both!!! Lol and their letters were sweet, but I'm still Team Rax and always will be!
I absolutely loved this book Toombs and Jinks are my very favorite in this series and I want more waiting is going to kill me but I know Kendall will make it worth it must read if you have read all the books in this series!
It's very short and yet full of emotion and unexpected.
It's going deeper into tombs and jinx's feelings and their love. I would normally be disappointed with the length of the story but overall happy enough on how it got me.
Jinx and Toombs are my favorite couple, but if I’m being honest this novella has shaken my faith in them.
First, I was totally lost on the Birthday club and it’s significance; I felt like I missed a book or chapter about what had happened. You can basically figure out it was like a band orgy for Letty and Shades’ birthdays, that I guess happens every birthday now? There is really no explanation and we just have to continue on which makes it hard since it seems this event caused a riff sexually between Jinx and Toombs.
I feel like they resolved their issues in Beats and now we are going back as if they didn’t. We went from a couple in love and lust who had intense sex to a couple who can no longer enjoy sex together? And the answer to their problem is Rax? I mean I get it, but Rax is a man in a relationship not a sex prop.
I feel like this novella’s purpose was just to get us to read Rock, which I will, but I wish my favorite couple didn’t have to be scarified for enticement.
