About the author

Kathleen Duey grew up in Colorado. She loved riding her horses, hiking, being in the mountains. Reading was always important to her. Writing became a fascination early in her life. In the fourth grade, Kathleen began writing stories and told everyone who would listen that she was going to be an author. Then she did nothing about it until she was 35 years old. Writing was her passion and her dream-come-true.

Kathleen died of cardiac arrest at her home in Fallbrook, California. She was 69. She had struggled with dementia in her latter years which prevented her from completing her Skin Hunger trilogy.

When Maggie's father, a rancher in 1886 Colorado, is injured, Maggie's mother takes him to town to see a doctor. That leaves Maggie alone with her spoiled city cousin, Hadyn, who is visting Colorado as a punishment for being expelled from school. Hadyn and Maggie have a fight, and Hadyn runs away, determined to find the train station. When Maggie learns Hadyn never made it to town, in spite of hating him, she sets out to find him in the wilderness. But a blizzard descends upon the mountains, trapping Hadyn and Maggie in a harsh and unforgiving wilderness. If they are going to survive and find their way home, Hadyn and Maggie have to work together. This book was an exciting survival story in a historical setting.

I think the book was amazing if you are looking for an action book this is the book it was adventures a life lesson and it also taught you also be prepared for anything and it also taught you to be brave and never give up on anything because survival is the way of life and it is also drama because it talks about how the cousin and uncles problem but I hope like it.

This book is about a two kids taking care of a ranch. This ranch is hadyn's uncle's. They're family is super rich and Maggie doesn't like it. So their job is to take care of the ranch. Evsntually a storm hits and their in trouble. Hadyn gets lost and Maggie and Hadyn's uncle have to find him in the deadly storm.
What I really disliked about the book was that It didn't really intrigue me. I thought it was a bit dull because their was no mystery. I think this book was not a good fit for me, I thought it was really boring. That's what i dislike about the book. This book did have its strong suits though, I thought it was a really detailed throughout the part when they were looking for Hadyn. That is what I liked and disliked.
I suggest this to people who like realistic fiction. I suggest to these people because this book is realistic fiction. I really didn't like this book because i'm a fantasy person. So anybody who likes fantasy. That's who i do and don't suggest this book to.

It's a quick read, and a fast paced historical adventure, it's a smaller scale than other book in series which made for something different and I liked how at odds the two characters were and how they had to overcome their differences in order to survive. It's slight but still entertaining as with books for children you can't bog them down with too much historical detail and this book smartly avoids that.

Good action adventure. Maggie's rich cousin comes to stay at their remote farm in the Rockeys. Animosity between the two cousins until Hayden gets stuck in the blizzard and Maggie has to rescue him. Book ends with them becoming friends.

So far I am on chapter 4 and it is amazing right now I am going to find out where Haden went and what Maggie is doing, I found out that they are cousins on the first page and there is a hours named rusty and that they have a hundred pounds of blake beans on him. This is a exiting book and I can not wait to see what happens.

i think the book was great this book has action and teaches u a lesson. The main characters are Haydn and Maggie and Maggie and Haydn have to survive in a blizzard with their aunt and uncle but they hate everything about them.

what i thought about the book blizzard it was good and it was changing my emotions threw out the book the and the characters were funny Haydyn was funny because his relationship with his aunt and uncle and that it reminds me about me and if people like suspense and cliff hangers you should read this book
