It was a little scary how my body trembled and my breathing wouldn't return to normal. But I couldn't escape the intensity of our desire for each other--and how vibrant and alive he made me feel. Like I'd merely existed before. Gotten by. Now I was acutely aware of my surroundings. Of myself. Of him. Of every sensation blazing inside me...

- The plot has a great potential but it's poorly executed. Sometimes it gets redundant (like she just mentioned something, after a few pages... it was mentioned again.) and there's too much sex scenes on it. I skipped a lot of pages because of that and I lost my interest. I wish it focused more on the actual conflict.
- Dane Bax was a good hero but Ari Demille sucked as a heroine. Dane is a sexy, alpha guy but I wish there's more back story about him. Ari was too shallow and overdramatic. She tries too hard to be sassy and comedic it irritated the crap out of me.
- Good thing I bought this on our local bargain store and sadly, I won't be continuing the rest of the series. I'm not a fan of the author's writing style and the story was boring. Is it worth reading this? Nope. I think I'll pass my copy to someone else who might enjoy it more than I did. I'll give this 2 stars instead of 1 star -- solely because of Dane.
Now in the email I got offering me this book said it was the next thing since Fifty Shades of Grey. I've not actually read FSoG, but I've read enough about it that I get the idea. This book didn't make me think of FSoG other than there's a seriously alpha, bossy billionaire and a younger girl. Dane was smoking and over the top hot, but Ari was just blah. I'm at 70% thinking this is going to be a cliffy (it's not) or it's gonna wrap up way too fast. Trying to figure out the bad guy made my head hurt. And then that epilogue...what?!?! I'm guessing there's going to be another book, but I'm not sure if it's with Dane and Ari or someone else.
The moment when Ari and Dane see each other across a bar for the first time Ari could feel his eyes on her from across the room, then when Dane saved her from an overeager bar patron they both new there was something there.
Ari a wedding planner is trying to live her life as quietly has possible. Her parent’s very messy divorce impacted her in such a negative way she doesn’t allow anyone to get to close to her emotionally and physically. She applied for a job at the new resort hotel that Dane just happens to own but unfortunately never got an interview.
Dane was orphaned at a very young age his aunt raised him but also died young so it was just him with a lot of money available to him. When he realizes that Ari applied at his hotel he does all he can to not only give her a job but make her events director for the hotel. Sparks fly for both of them and they fall hard for each other that is until Dane’s past starts to catch up to him in many different ways.
I really enjoyed this from beginning to end. Told in Ari’s POV you can feel her struggle with her parents, her sometimes lack of confidence and ultimately her love for Dane. I also love the fact that while Dane is the typical Alpha male who will protect what’s his at all costs she does except him for who he is but still knows what she can live with. She makes some hard choices especially at the end of the book and is firm with her beliefs. The author does a great job describing the different situations, the environment and does a good job with the dialog. I happen to live in Arizona where the story takes place and she does a great job with the overall feel of the desert landscape – something that is not always easy to do. Your meet a few secondary characters who have a large role in Ari and Dane’s romance who I also really liked.
At the end you think you get your HEA but I have to warn the readers there is a second book set up at the end for a book that comes out early next year. I know I will definitely be looking forward to that.

Emotionally battered Ari, the wedding planner, meets Dane Bax, brooding businessman, when she sweeps in to literally make sure the wedding she has planned goes off without a hitch when the groom and his groomsmen have gone missing right before the ceremony.
Ari doesn't like to be touched and Kyle, the best man, is a bit touchy and flirty when his best friend Sean is getting married. Ari finds them in the lodge's bar doing shots for liquid courage before saying I Do. It's when she is trying to get the guys outside in time that she feels him looking at her. And then when she meets his eyes she is breathless for a few minutes, or at least what feels like it. When she finally turns back to the group and does her shot with them to get them moving that Kyle tries to get friendlier and in her swivel to avoid his hug she looses her balance and a guy with a diamond back tattoo on his neck catches her. Not wanting to let her go.
Dane is a focused man in the middle of a business meeting when Ari sweeps in the door and literally blows his papers off the table. He cannot look away. When he catches her eyes she's even more riveting. He notices she doesn't like to be touched and when the best man tries to push his luck and she ends up falling into the arms of the stranger who just walked it that will not let her go, he decides enough is enough and steps in.
Is it love at first sight or just a very lustful moment? When Dane decides he has to have her and she cannot stop thinking about him what will happen between them? What about the sweet and funny quarterback, Kyle? Ari doesn't do relationships. At all. Her parents cured her of that. What will it take for her to get this stranger out of her mind and does she really want to?
copy courtesy of Netgalley seems to be a happy for now.(not really sure)The epilouge leads you to believe there is more to come. It could be another story with main characters or someone else. There were some unanswered questions I enjoyed the book for the most part. There was a lot of sex but that did not make the story better. It kind of detracted from the actual story. The plot was a little good but could have been better. Dane and Ari met and there was instant attraction. He was intense, mysterious and possessive. I liked how he knew what he wanted from her without hesitation. The perfect alpha with secrets. She was tough, smart and independant. She was the one who did not like commitments. I like both characters. Ari was good until the end of the book. Without giving away too much of the plot, I didn't appreciate the way she turned against Dane. I applauded his actions.I think she was a little naive in her thinking, but she eventually compromised. Not a bad book and I would like to read more to get some answers.

This was an okay book for me. I really don't have much to say about this book. There is a lot of sex in this book and I mean a lot. Nothing wrong with that of course and they were pretty hot graphic scenes. But just a warning incase you're not into that. Let's see, I read the most of the book but I did skim a bit. I really just wanted to get to the end to find out who was the villain. This story has a bit of everything hot sex, kidnapping, unrequited love, jealousy, an alpha male, drama, family issues (mom was a jerk) and so on. The ending left it open for another book but not exactly a cliffhanger. Not sure I want to read the next book as the first book didn't really draw me in. Would I recommend this book? Sure. Why not? There are plenty of people who gave this book 4 or more stars. This is not a bad book just an okay one for me. 3 stars for me.
Truthfully. The best thing about this book is the sex. The inst-love/alpha male thing that Dane has going on for most of the read... Pleeze! Get out of you platinum coated cave much Mr. Man.
There is honest potential here for a very good story. The problem. Far too much of the early part of the book, which should be spent on things like... Oh, I don't know? Crafting a plausible and fully articulated drama? Were instead given over to orgasms and hot and sweaty sex.
Not saying that there is anything wrong with hot and sweaty sex. Far from it. The problem here lies in the fact that the author spent so much time on the sex, that the suspenseful elements that are meant to drive the plot were not introduced until well after the story's midpoint. Thereby forcing a very rushed and unfinished resolution.
This book features the story about Dane and Ari which is a standalone novel.
Brief Synopsis Dane captivated Ari from the first moment their eyes locked. Every second thereafter proved they were either fated for love...or devastation.
My Thoughts I did not really connect with the story or the characters and I found the main female character to be somewhat of a bore. She did not enough intensity to keep me interested which is sad because the entire story was told in her pov. I did not understand why she was even upset at the hero for some of the things she got annoyed about. I honestly did not like how she approached the situations she found herself in, I was really not impressed. All in my entire major problem was with the heroine which made the story not work for me. She was just too irritating and not likeable enough.
There are a few things it does right...and several more it really really doesn't. The characters themselves are complex, multilayered, and interesting, often characters i don't feel like i've seen 8 times before. Points for that, and for allowing the characters to actually spare half a moment for "oh wait, maybe it's not ok that you would do ANYTHING to protect what's yours, there are limits, honey." The cover synopsis read very much as erotica with a bdsm angle--i believe dane is specifically described as dominant--so for that concept, the sex is surprisingly vanilla and a trifle uninspired in places. Some of that could be explained away through the fact that ari, the heroine, generally doesn't like to be touched...except that that reticence to touch gets shrugged off in a matter of minutes as "oh no, she only likes to be touched *by him*, it's just that she has massive trust issues because of her mother being a self absorbed, emotionally abusive nightmare." Also those trust issues will themselves be shrugged off remarkably easily when they might have impeded the romance. All in all, it just feels like the author gathered up about 4 times the usual number of roadblocks xe could us to create tension, then discarded each one as soon as it started to become inconvenient without really putting in the effort to address any of them properly; it's like going on a quest to fight a family of ogres only to find out that one suddenly died of the flu, one tripped and impaled himself on the way to the fight, and one had to reschedule the battle for a doctor's appointment. --SPOILER-- The eventual explanation for the sabotage, dane and his former investors are part of an illuminati club of billionaires controlling the world to maintain the economy and a (to them) positive political atmosphere...well, i think i'd have found it hard to suspend my disbelief at any time. Reading it in the current atmosphere just makes it come off to me as "actually, he's not just your ordinary robber baron, but a member of a secret cabal of robber barons subverting political systems to maintain capitalism and good (as defined by billionaires)." And...yeah, not cool, especially not cool when you add the anger management issues (no, a man who punches holes in the wall and goes caveman at his girlfriend's friends is not sexy to me, i was getting "this man needs to get a grip" vibes long before the end when the heroine tried to convince herself that somehow his violent response was in any way her fault for being in danger).

This book was just GOOD! The spice was excellent (I have to give credit where credit is due lol). I thought all the stupid little things that were happening at the Lux were so juvenile (and quite funny) but the kidnapping seemed so serious and scary. The balance was off to me. This was the first book I ever read where the guy falls first and I really like that. Lastly, I love that Ari had a career and already knew what she wanted to do in life.
Dane was alright, he seemed very intimidated, Kyle was really cool and I would much rather see him with Ari, I hate Ari’s mother, Love Amando and Ari’s father.
Overall, it was written well and Ari is one of my favorite female character I ever read!
I read through to chapter 5 and was so bored the entire time. I wish it would have been a little more interesting. It was a rambling mess of a book. It felt like everything I was reading was completely irrelevant to the actual story. The characters didn’t have personality and the side characters were awful and undeveloped. I tried really hard to read at least half way but it feels impossible when the book just rambles on and on about nothing. Also, one thing that was mildly infuriating was the author stating what the reader could have easily inferred. Stating the obvious over and over just got old. I really wanted to like this book. Over all disappointing.
The connection between Dane and Ari was sent to me perfectly, except for the fact that I liked normal Dane more than the “sex Dane”, it was shown how he’s so in love with Ari.
I realised that the characters weren’t stick to their characters every time I am into a new chapter, they fell in love quickly and the book was just lost at the beginning chapters.
Ari? Sucked Dane like a heroine, didn’t like her romantic character as much I did her love to her job and her father and how she stood against her mother.
I just didn’t like the ending, at all. I should read the next book to judge about it..

Erotic romance may be the red-headed stepchild of the book industry, but that's no excuse for lazy writing, cliched and repetitive descriptions, bad editing, underdeveloped plots, or flat and lackluster characters. All I'm looking for is a well done erotic romance. Why does that seem so impossible to find these days?
Something about the attractions these two had to each other is so heart melting. There’s no other way I can explain it. Towards the ends of the book, the storyline does feel a little rushed though.
Burned Deep was a sexy as sin romantic suspense novel that kept me glued to my Kindle as I read it from start to finish in one sitting. What boggles my mind is that I initially passed on this novel while trying to keep my review schedule light during the holidays, but when the boss lady asked for help filling in, I figured it was meant to be. And I was so right because I thoroughly enjoyed it. Fox combines a whole lotta sex with a good amount of danger and intrigue, far more than you would expect a wedding planner to find herself dealing with, yet it worked for me on several levels.
Ari is an up and coming wedding planner whose reputation for detail and discretion has landed her a society wedding that seems doomed thanks to missing groomsmen (and the groom) and an approaching monsoon. While Ari can’t control the weather, she does have some sway over the groom and his groomsmen and after a rather intense encounter in the venue’s bar, she manages to pull the wedding off without a hitch. But the incident in the bar brings her to the attention of Dane Bax, a businessman who is in the midst of launching an exclusive resort that Ari has applied for a position at. While it’s not a big stretch of the imagination to know that Ari will be hired on at 10,000 Lux and that she and Dane will begin seeing one another, what did surprise me was that it was Ari who insisted on their non-work relationship remaining strictly sexual while Dane was pushing for more. But Dane was not above using his sexual prowess – of which he had a LOT, boy howdy – to try and convince Ari that they could have more. Because I don’t want to spoil the read for anyone about the romantic suspense angle in the novel, I won’t go into specifics except to say that the incidents proved to be rather thrilling in how they escalated over the course of the book. That said, I really liked that there was more than one plausible suspect and it wasn’t clear (at least not to me) who was actually responsible until the reveal.
I really liked Ari’s character and I think I connected with her so well because she reminds me of a very close friend. Like Ari, my friend’s parents went through a rough patch and there was a lot of yelling, screaming and door slamming, which resulted in complete relationship avoidance for years. Because I saw so much of my friend in Ari, I recognized many of her behaviors as realistic responses to conflict and love. As for Ari’s parents, I loved her father’s character and that they had such a good relationship. Her mother, on the other hand, was despicable and an example of narcissism in the extreme. Dane’s character surprised me because he was far more accommodating to Ari than I usually see in the dominant alpha male billionaire. That’s not to say he wouldn’t do all that he could to convince her to do as he asked, but he seemed to understand when to relent on certain issues. While I really enjoyed the ending, I was surprised by the epilogue because Kyle’s final statement would suggest a sequel when there’s nothing to indicate that this is a series and Burned Deep seems complete as is. I suppose I’ll have to wait and see.

Review:
This book is not what I expected, and in a good way.
There is a lot more going on in this story than just an alpha male and his young ingenue. What I expected was straight-up just a guy getting through a girls defenses and he does do that, but there is mystery and intrigue going on in this story too. I think that if it did not have that added mystery to the story it could have fallen flat really soon. After Ari lets down her defenses (a little too quickly, but what the hey) you think the story will be wrapping up, but then things start happening to Ari and 10,000 Lux and the mystery takes off. I have to say I did find it a little goofy that Dane is part of an "Illuminati" like group, though it is done in the context of the story and propels some of the tension. The last 25% of the book is full of action and drama. The story is told from a single POV, Ari's and it was kind of nice since all the books I have read lately have multi-POV's. I liked Dane but with it being from Ari's POV, it did not seem like we got to know him well enough since it was Ari's POV. But, what is not to like? He is rich, smart and attractive. This is seemingly a one and done story until you read the epilogue and then that flies out the window. So look for another book because after that, this cannot be the end. Well, now I will definitely be looking for the next book.

This book fits right in with the current contemporary trends, such as Hardwired, Crossfire and The Blackstone Affair. What these series all have in common is fast paced stories, alpha men, heady sex scenes and strong women. Ari meets Dane when he rescues her from some unwanted male attention while working a wedding. She can’t help but notice the enigmatic stranger who captivates her. A few meetings later and Ari has put her wedding planning business on hold and is working for Dane. He is opening one of the most luxurious resorts in Sedona. Ari is thrilled at the opportunity to work on a project this big. But the job comes with a big incentive. Dane offers the job AND himself. He wants Ari and he wants more than a quickie in a hotel room. This leads to the emotional development of the characters. Ari has been scarred by her parent’s marriage and stays away from any and all romantic entanglements. Ari’s evolution is a big part of this story. She not only has great sex with Ari, but the author focuses on the intimacy of the two. I really liked this development. Usually books in this genre are just about the hot sex. That is definitely present (like how does she come that many times?), but Dane teaches Ari about being present with another person and allowing that person into her emotions and heart. While Dane is one of those super rich men, he also is very hands on with his resort. He works hard to overcome the bizarre events that keep delaying the opening of the 10000 Lux. His mysterious past seems to be the root of the issues and eventually it becomes Ari’s problem as well. This is a good plot development as it forces Dane to face his past and deal with Ari as an equal. He demands that she face her intimacy issues, just as she forces him to reveal his secrets. Ari’s family is totally messed up. Her mother is pure evil and I am not sure where this plotline is headed, but she stirs up a lot of conflict. Ari’s father is her sounding board and is an effective character in drawing out her thoughts and emotions. This is the first book in a new series and I am looking forward to reading the next one. While the book doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, it does leave you knowing that there is more conflict, sex and emotions to come.
♥ My Thoughts: Dane was pretty much amazing, I love his alpha-male but sweet tendencies. He tends to be overprotective most of the time, but I adore the way he took care of his own. Ari, the girl he saved from unwanted advances, was his. He knew this the first time he saw her. There was chemistry and sexual tension between them. How I wish this was a dual-POV. It would have been greater if we get to be inside Dane’s brain. He has mysteries and secrets that surround him that you’d be dying to know.
As for Ari, I like her relationship with her father. But don’t ask me anything about her mom: OMG, what kind of mother does that to her child? Argh. This is the reason why she guards her heart and built walls around it. Sometimes you’d get frustrated with how the things were going between them because of her insecurities.
You get to meet some secondary characters whom you can’t help but love as well and plays a role in their romance.
Just like FSOG, the sex was pretty much off the charts. The steamy scenes were never dull from the start down to the last page. Although, I must admit it tends to be pretty much overwhelming.
Then the ending, I can’t believe how fast it wrapped up. It was almost rushed, and yet there are some things that were left unresolved which made me think there must be a second book sometime in the near future (*fingers-crossed*) because the mystery is killing me alive!
♥ Recommended For: Loves alpha-male, steamy scenes overload and mysteries.
I almost DNF'd this weak Fifty Shades ripoff several times, except that I make a point to finish ARCs so I can do an honest review.
The similarities to Fifty Shades are all there: Dane, the brooding billionaire (of course) and Ari the sensitive young woman who is afraid of love because her parents never found love. There's no BDSM but Ari even giggles once to Dane, "Are you going to take me to your playroom?" Ugh, no. Dane falls head over possessive heels for Ari instantly, although I never understood why. Ari is whiny, self-absorbed, and immature, but both Dane and her new bud, Kyle, spend the whole book telling her how awesome she is. Btw, Dane hires Ari to be the head Event Planner for his luxurious resort hotel and her whole range of expertise seems to be reading catalogs and ripping out pictures to copy for her events. One of Dane's "romantic" gestures is to buy her a corkboard for her office to pin the pictures. Ana Steele got first edition Thomas Hardys, Ari got a corkboard.
Their sex life is of course amazeballs but I ended up rolling my eyes as the story progressed. Here's the moment when I almost DNF for good: Dane is developing his hotel when a series of troubling events occur and he finally . It is the most ludicrous plotline imaginable. Somewhere, Christian Grey is smirking. Especially when Dane turns to Ari and asks,
Another you-gotta-be-kidding-me plotline:
The book ends on a completely unnecessary HFN cliffhanger of sorts. I will not be reading the next installment.
Note: I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
The book starts off fantastic and continues in such a fashion. I loved that the male lead, Dane is a dominant, dark, handsome and sexual male who is attracted to the young woman, Ari, who works at a hotel as a wedding planner that Dane is at. Something about her sparks this intense attraction, an instant chemistry. Dane finds out alittle later that she put an application in at his hotel and from there the story truly takes off with a twisted tale about two people who were brought together by fate. They fall extremely hard for each other; their pasts were so different- Dane lost parents so his aunt raised him but she too died and that left him alone again at a young age with a lot of money whereas Ari’s parent’s marriage left her really emotionally messed up. She is NOT close to her mom—really NOT close because her mom is EVIL but she is closer to her dad. She fears relationships, and what they can do, the hold they can have on you. These two cannot stay away from other – they end up bringing out the best and at times, the worst in each other . Dane is having some issues with his hotel and because of that, there is the mystery of who is out to hurt him and his hotel and sabotage his relationship with Ari and also putting him and Ari in danger. There were so many twists and turns- several things I didn’t see coming til the very end. I really wanted more with this couple. This wasn’t a HEA, or even a HFN ending. This was more along the lines of a sort of like a cliffhanger ending The couple are together but things are somewhat unresolved. What I can say is this is so good, I am glad to know they have another book coming—this is only book 1 in a new series. And wow, what a great start. It is dark, seductive, dangerous and yummy. All the things I love in my reading material so I highly recommend this new series Ms. Fox *A gifted copy was provided by the publisher for my honest review* My rating: 4.7 stars ****

Burned Deep is the first novel in the series by the same title from author Calista Fox and is a contemporary erotic romance that plays on themes of the alpha male who shows the female he falls for pleasures that she's never known before. While there's a lot of steam and a fair amount of sweetness in this love story, there's also an element of suspense and intrigue that makes you want to know what the heck is going on with the numerous sabotage attempts on 10,000 Lux, the luxury property owned by Dane, and who could be behind it all. Then you've got secrets that Dane and Ari are keeping from each other and it's clear that this relationship is going to hit many a turbulent waters before it can even hope to enjoy smooth sailing. There's an air of familiarity to the story but has enough originality to be different.
Both Ari and Dane were personable lead characters and their whirlwind romance was one that may have been initially based on lustful feelings but was further solidified by stronger emotions. I did find it strange, though, why she seemed so intent on helping Kyle Jenns, someone she met while organizing a wedding, and why he was so invested in her throughout the story. The fact that he was so in-your-face with Dane a time or two and continued to be employed at 10,000 Lux seemed weird to me, but he does present an area of conflict for the two lovers. Then there's Mikalea Madsen, whose relationship with Dane has me curious as to what role she'll play going into the second book in the series, Flash Burned. This series starter ends on a cliffhanger of sorts, with all major issues still unresolved. Burned Deep gets four stars. ♥
Ari is a event planner and would like nothing more this is to make her more money and have the life she and her dad have always dreamed of. While hosting the biggest of her career she runs into Dane and has no idea why he is checking her out or why she is responding to the spark coming from him. When she goes about the day and her week it seems that Dane is every where she can't shake the feeling that this man is about to change her life for the good. Dane knows he has to watch out for those close to him and those things that mean the world to him, but when he sees Ari he knows he must have her like non other and she is going to make his world a better place from just knowing her. When the Lux the hotel he is opening starts to see some funny things going on he starts to wonder if he can protect Ari and the Lux and still walk away a better man. This book has a ton of sexual content and a ton of chemistry jumping through out. There is a story in this book overall and really good storyline at that. I am sure this book was meant to be a romance/erotica book but it does have some mystery to it. At some point it has you on the edge of your seat just wanting to know what happens. Over all a pretty good book, I just wished that it was from the both main characters POV and not just Ari's it would have mad the book that much better in my option knowing the feel an the thoughts of both characters in such a book as this. I would not recommend this book for anyone under the age of 18.
Disclosure: I received this book free of charge from the publisher, but this review consists of my honest opinions, not influenced in any way by the author or publisher
Burned Deep by Calista Fox is one romance that will burn deep into readers hearts. Calista Fox has beautifully woven together a story of two very different characters who somehow share a passion strong enough to light fire. I was intrigued the moment I started reading. The main female character is strong outside but just how strong is she on the inside once a certain hottie makes it his desire to undo her completely. Burned Deep is hot, suspenseful, and the best novel I have read. I highly recommend it to all.
Have you ever felt a passion hit you straight on and never let go? What about the defense you have worked hard to build up to suddenly come down crashing one by one? Ari DeMille is experiencing just that. Her whole strong hold is crumbling thanks to simple hot desire and lust. One sexy man such as her boss, is determined to fight his way through life and fight his way into Ari. But soon, fate made the desire and the chase a lot more dangerous. Burned Deep isn’t just about one woman maybe losing her heart and very soul to a man, who may or may not love her in return, but a novel where life tries stealing things from under your very own feet. Can both Ari and her boss Dane fight to win? Calista Fox has brilliantly lured me deep into her intriguing world where lust and passion do not come easy. Readers will fall in love with both Ari and Dane. They both are realistic and their flaws bring their story closer to our hearts. Pulling us closer until we fall in. Need a novel with spice, action, and heat? Then Burned Deep is just for you. Overall, I rate it a five out of five stars.
I fell in love with this book from the very first chapter. I was completely sad to see it end but loved the way it ended. Ari is a wedding and event planner trying to make a name for herself. She has been doing well from all the friends of people she planned events for. But at one particular event she met a man that she could not get out of her mind. He also offered her a job which was something she dis not turn down. But when business starts getting mixed with pleasure problems occur. All Ari wanted was to feel safe and protected. But she wasnt sure if her boss was the one to do that. Dane is a multi millionaire. He first sees Ari at a event across the room. When he notices her he realizes she is the woman for him. He fell for her at first site. So he deiceded to offer her a job that would keep her with him. But when thi gs start going wrong at his hotel he is not aure he can keep Ari safe. But he tries his hardest to. Throughtout the book both Ari and Dane both spent a lot of time together planning his hotel grand reveal. But when things start happening to Ari Dane tries his hardest to keep her safe. At the end of the book both their love and trust in each other is tested. When they finally realize they cannot live without each other they fall deeper in love with each other. I cannot wait until the next book in this series comes out. I want to know what happens and if there will be more drama.
Not at all familiar with this author, I decided to give the book a try after the description really caught my attention. It is the start of a new series. Ari is the focus of the story. She is a small scale wedding planner just bursting on to a larger scale with more exclusive clientele. When a stranger manhandles Ari inside the bar of her current wedding venue, Dane steps in. Ari never expects to see Dane again, but through several twists of fate, she ends up taking a position directing events for Dane's soon to be opening luxury hotel. Dane also angles for her to take a position in his bed, and he doesn't give up easy. As the relationship between the two heats up, dangerous and seemingly unrelated incidents begin to plague Ari. As Dane investigates, he discovers someone is targeting Ari in order to get to him. He has secrets which place her in danger and connections which threaten everything he holds dear.
Though I have to say the couple's initial meeting was a bit awkward to me, I kept reading and was totally sucked in. By the end, the emotions were so high! It was an amazing ending with a sneaky little twist at the end. While it is not a huge cliffhanger, it does leave much unresolved to flow into the next book. I truly cannot wait. It was suspenseful, dangerous, and sexy with characters I want to dig into even deeper.
This is an amazing love story with all the excitement of a mystery/suspense thriller. Dane and Ari both fall in love in a breath-taking moment. No matter how much Ari fights it, she is "burned deep" by the passion and mind boggling emotions they both share. Neither one has ever felt this way about someone. As Dane tries to protect Ari from harm, they both fall irrevocably in love. All that is left is to admit their love, forge a deeper understanding and move ahead fighting the forces that will stop at nothing to get Dane's newest project.
The opening of the private membership resort 10,000 LUX has been Dane's dream. There is a lot of money riding on this wonder of the world resort and greedy hands cannot stand they are not part of it. As Dane and Ari prepare for the grand opening, a series of expensive and life-threatening incidents keep occurring. In the midst of all this turmoil, Dane steps up his courtship of Ari and the love scenes between these two are like a five-alarm fire!
I loved the writing, the plotline, the characters... I loved everything about this book! The story does not end at the end of this book. There is more to come and I do not how I will be able to hold on until then!
