I will be honest. This book was really not for me. I added it to my review pile without a lot of thought and overlooked it for longer than I would like to admit. I did eventually get around to it and had rather mixed results. I felt like there were some things that I did like, and some that I didn't care for at all.

The book did start out strong and I really felt for the Hero, Daniel. How could you not? As the book progressed and focused more on both Daniel and Shannon, I couldn't completely get on board with their romance. There were way too many secrets and overreactions. They also seemed really quick to forgive each other, so much so, it didn't always feel authentic.

I will say that there is one scene that really ruined this book for me. I think that my 3-star rating is quite generous considering how much I hated this one scene. I finished this book over a year ago and this scene has stayed with me. When Shannon gives Daniel some news that he does not want to hear, he crosses a line that completely changed how I looked at his character. I am all for flawed characters making mistakes and coming back from them but his behavior was unforgivable. I wanted Shannon to forget about him and find someone that would treat her better. He didn't deserve a second chance after the things he says in this book.

I thought that Amy Landon did a good job with the narration. I did think that some of her voices were not distinctive enough and I sometimes had a hard time determining who was talking but that was only an issue when there was a larger group of characters. I wouldn't hesitate to listen to more of her work.

I can't recommend this book. I thought that the book started strong but ended quite poorly. I would give the author another try in the future though.

I received a digital review copy of this book from St. Martin's Press via NetGalley and borrowed a copy of the audiobook from my local library.

Initial Thoughts
I am not sure that this is really my kind of book. This one got added to my review pile while I was in some kind of NetGalley widget clicking trance. Or something like that. I didn't love it. At times, I didn't care for it at all and at other times it was all right. The beginning was rather touching and I felt really bad for our Hero. How could you not? As the book progressed and the focus fell on Shannon and Daniel, I couldn't completely get on board with their romance. There were way too many secrets kept and way too many overreactions. I think that they were also really quick to forgive each other. So much so, it didn't seem completely authentic. The narration was well done but I felt like some of her voices were not distinctive enough and I had a hard time telling which character was speaking. That was really only an issue in scenes with groups of characters.

3 - Been there, done that. Got the casket.” Stars.

Whilst for the most part and enjoyable read, there were several issues I had with Heartsong Cottage, being my first read from Emily March I didn’t really have any expectations going into this one apart from it being a seasonal read. The cover intimates that fact, and unfortunately that is not the case, Christmas is barely mentioned and it is literally in the last 20 pages or so that it is. For me this is a big sticking point, because when you offer up a cover showing a snowy cottage, with Christmas lights and a tree I am expecting the bulk of the story to at least play out in December.

He’d laid open his soul to her, she’d continued to keep secrets.

My second issue is the fact that for most of this book I felt like I was reading a written reimagining of a depressing county song, you know the ones… My wife done left me, my dog gone died, my car broke down, and my house burned to the ground, because if in any situation there could be a way to turn it into a drama the author did it, there were the odd Taylor Swift Shake It Off moments, but at around the 70% mark I was wondering if there wasn’t a tragedy that the author was going to try and incorporate into this couples story.

She was so tired of running. So tired of always looking over her shoulder. Ever so tired of always being afraid.

But enough of the negative, there were positives to be gained from Emily March’s story. Being my first visit to Eternity Springs the town and its characters are extremely well established and you feel it in the writing. I liked Daniel and Shannon for the most part, it was just all the unfortunate issues that befell them as the story progressed that became a little too much. The story-line didn’t really offer up a huge amount in the way of surprises in its twists and turns, but there were several moments when this hard hearted reader welled up (not really I am as soft as they come!).

”Let me tempt you…
”That’s all you’ve done since the day we met.

The book is well written, I wouldn’t have expected anything less of an author of this calibre, as I said this is the first book in the series that I have read, and being book ten I didn’t feel lost or out of the loop, so it can certainly be read as a standalone. My main issue is just in the fact that this book has been wrapped up to look like it is a Christmas read, and it doesn’t qualify for that genre to me personally. I would happily look to read previous or future books from the series.

”A heartsong is beautiful. It’s timeless. It’s classic.”

Heartsong Cottage (Eternity Springs # 10) by Emily March is a 2015 St. Martin's Press publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This tenth installment in the popular Eternity Springs series begins with Daniel's harrowing story of how he lost his son ten years prior. Fast forward to present day, and Daniel is coming to Eternal Springs to attend the wedding of a very special friend where he meets a mysterious new lady in town named Shannon. These two lost and lonely souls reach out to one another in a haze of wedding blues and champagne. But in the light of day, Shannon soon discovers there are now some huge ramifications stemming from their impulsiveness and that she's made a terrible mistake because Daniel apparently isn't the hero everyone thinks he is.

This story is classic Emily March in many ways, with the trademark emotional story line. But of course holiday stories usually require an added dose of sugar and inspiration, topping it all off with a cozy and heartwarming ending. However, this story has a little bit of an edge to it because Shannon is running away from a dark past and of course Daniel's background is just heartbreaking.

I enjoy reading love stories with more mature couples because the hormonal angst isn't at a fever pitch, and I can relate to the characters a lot more. In this story, the romance is a sweet one on many levels because Daniel really deserves to find love again, and of course, Shannon's life has been fraught with anxiety and danger and its time for her to find peace. Both of these characters exuded a deep loneliness that made me root for them even more. Their romance was not filled with grand gestures or explicit bedroom scenes, even though they got off to a rip roaring start in that area, at first, but, as the story unfolds they take a slower, more cautious approach, building a strong emotional bond, along the way. There are misunderstandings, conflict, suspense, and danger, but as the Christmas holidays draw nearer, Eternity Springs will once again work its magic.

This was not exactly what I was expecting from this holiday themed novel, but it was a welcome change from the many other syrupy tales that usually come out around the holidays. I enjoyed the romantic suspense element very much, and for those who are looking for those heart-tugging and touching moments, there are plenty of those to go around too.

This is a series that is dependable, and this author always weaves an interesting tale, so you can't go wrong with this one. 4 stars

This was a struggle to finish... I was rolling my eyes throughout the whole thing. I found the (internal/external) dialogue repetitive and just off (almost to the point where I'd laugh because I found it so unbelievable). I felt NO connection/desire/love between Daniel and Shannon.

The story progressed as such:

Worst day in Daniel's life
Wedding (In which Daniel tells Shannon his name is Samuel... I don't know why....)
One night stand
Pregnancy
"Fake" marriage
lying, lying, lying
Missing dog found after 10 years...
Pregnacy announced in which Daniel said horrible and unforgivable things
Forgiveness
Shannon told Daniel her past
Superstitions
Weird random killer person
Marriage.

I found this story such a struggle to find any part of it believable.

I am absolutely in love with the town of Eternity Springs! The characters had both been through some gruesome things, but when the town brings them together they are able to heal. I thought at first that this would be the typical romance with the main characters at odds with eachother until the end, but it wasn't. There was something sweeter about the relationship the was born when they worked together almost the entire time. I need to go back and read other books in the series now, though this one was amazing as a standalone.

ARC REVIEW !
I swear the books just keep getting better and better

"Coincidences are an angel's way of working anonymously"

This is book ten in Emily March’s Eternity Springs series and boy do they just keep getting better. Admittedly this is one of the darker ones, like with Dreamweaver Trail; but like all the others it’s about finding hope after all seems lost. Eternity Springs is a place for lost souls go to heal, to find their way again, to find a new purpose and to just maybe find love again. Heartsong Cottage is a heart wrenching story with a hopeful message. Emily March is very good at pulling people through hell and back and then still making them work for their HEA, and it is a tear jerking journey and an absolute pleasure to read.

The two stars in this book Daniel Garrett has given up hope for himself but still reaches out to help others; Shannon O’Toole is fairly new to Eternity Springs and has a mysterious past she has no problems making friends but she really doesn’t want any long lasting attachments.Ending up in Eternity Springs was a case of right place at the right time. Daniel first came to Eternity Springs because of Hope. When Hope’s daughter was kidnapped Daniel was the private investigator who never stopped looking for Holly. Daniel occasionally stops into town to visit and because there is a peacefulness about the small mountain town that calms his hectic life. After Daniel lost his wife and son he closed off never thinking to hope he could have a family again, never thinking he would want one again. Shannon O’Toole is hiding, no one in town knows her secret and she plans to keep it that way. Always busy between yoga class twice a day, renovating an old Victorian house and running the bar at night she never stops.

"On nights like this, being alone sucks"

"Daniel didn't want to be alone. He very much didn't want to be alone."

One night, it was just suppose to be one night; slightly inebriated after Gabi and Flynn's wedding and feeling very, very down in the dumps Shannon and Daniel share one wonderful night together. Both with reasons of their own think it's better if it ends after the one night but weeks later and they both can not forget the one night of peace they both felt in each other's arms. Shannon gets a commision to do some decorative art work in some cabins on the outskirts of town. One day a young woman and her son show up, they wandered over from other cabins down the way asking for medicine, he husband is sick and she can’t go into town; turns out the husband is Daniel. Shannon hurts and feels used especially since she just found out she was pregnant. Daniel straightened everything out explaining what was really going on and Shannon tells him she is pregnant. Shannon wasn’t quite expecting the reaction she got. I know something Daniel didn’t know even after a vasectomy you can still produce sperm especially after ten years. After flat out calling her a liar Daniel storms out. Soon after that Daniel realizes just how wrong he was and convincing Shannon isn’t easy. Shannon finally trusting Daniel tells him the truth about her past and now Daniel is on a mission to fix it for her so she can stop looking over her shoulder.

The internal struggle Daniel goes through is a tough one he doesn't feel like he deserves a family again, he's terrified about something else going wrong and going through the trauma all over again. Shannon's conflict isn't just internalized, she fights with her trust issues as well as a very real stalker who isn't afraid to kill. Overall, This is a great addition to the Eternity Spring series. Celeste as always has some very memorable quotes and really is an angel.

I won this ARC from a re-read group on Goodreads. I would like to thank Emily and Paula and the lovely people at St. Martin's Press for my ARC.

Before I finished this book I sent an e-mail to my sister telling her to look for the Eternity Springs series by Emily March hoping that she will be able to find and check them out from her library. It is a GREAT book! It is the first book I have read by this author but it will not be my last!!!

Some of the words and phrases I wrote down in my notebook while reading include:
*multi-layered
*great character development
*wonderful dialogue
*real people
*intense emotions
*heartstrings
*heartache
*sweet
*deep
*believable
*”pets are family”

Book ten of the Eternity Springs series tells the story of Samantha and Daniel. Neither is looking for love or a relationship but find more than they bargained for at a wedding. The fact that they did not fall in love immediately, had issues from their pasts to contend with, were both a bit leery and took their time to get to know one another was a good thing. I enjoyed the snippets of memory Daniel shared with Samantha related his son (Justin) and Justin’s dog Soupy Lou – it was heartwarming and brought the characters to life in a special way. I enjoyed meeting some of the characters that must have been in previous books and may show up in those that will follow. I like Eternity Springs and look forward to finding out more about the people that live there. I also want to know how the mosaics Samantha is creating for the Mama, Papa and Baby Bear cabins will turn out.

This was a delightful book and I would like to thank NetGalley and Saint Martin’s Press for the advanced readers’ copy I received.

Heartsong Cottage by Emily March

The wedding cliche of not leaving alone is the beginning "encounter" in this contemporary and lovely romance.

Mild and g-rated, no sex. It's ok. While in the past I may have objected, the sexual tension is not high here. It's more about Shannon and Daniel learning to not be alone and maybe trusting each other. It's about friendship and companionship. And community. And recovery.
A few tears in two scenes made this a touching, heart-felt read. I love the storyline of Eternity Springs. Everyone rallies when needed.

Community is key in Eternity Springs. There are lots of residents that make appearances from previous stories. While it's nice to know who is who, it's not necessary to have read the prior books.

Daniel Garrett investigates missing children cases as a direct result of losing his own child and subsequently his wife. His job is extremely taxing on his emotional state and he leads a lonely life.
Shannon O'Toole is on the run from a stalker but no one in Eternity Springs is aware of her history. She wants to keep it that way for the day she will have to run again. It's a lonely existence.
Celeste, (an angel on earth?) dispenses words of wisdom.

I won a copy of this book from the author in a contest.

I had mixed feelings about this book. Both characters have lost people they love. Once they meet they are attracted to each other and sleep together after a friends wedding.

Daniel leaves and doesn't come back for a few weeks and when he does he has a woman and child who he is protecting. Shannon things she is a home wrecker because she is pregnant and has yet to tell Daniel. Once she finally does he believes it's another guys and just trying to pass it off as his.

Of course I could see that all happening but through the book these two get together on and off because of Daniel's job so I didn't really get the full effect of them as a couple.

The story had its interesting parts but it wasn't enough to make me fall in love with the characters.

I think I have read a few books in this series but it's been a long time and I don't recall the characters.

This series is definitely a series I would have to start from the beginning to get the full effect of the town and the people who live there.

As far as the ending goes honestly I liked how they came together but I couldn't remember exactly what and how it happened.

This latest entry in the Eternity Springs series brings back Daniel Garrett who was instrumental in reuniting Hope with her kidnapped child. Daniel has been a frequent visitor to Eternity Springs over the years, since it tends to revitalize him after particularly bad cases involving child victims. While Daniel has been able to provide closure for other families, he has never really gotten closure for his own son’s death and then his wife’s subsequent suicide. It is easy to see why he has never again wanted a relationship again and why things spiraled out of control when he met Shannon O’Toole. Shannon has also seen her own share of tragedy which just may make her perfect for Daniel. That is if she can stay in town long enough to have a relationship. Both Shannon and Daniel are tragic characters that you just can’t help rooting for in their attempts at moving forward as a couple. Once again, Emily March has created a heartwarming romance set in an idyllic town that will make everyone want to move to Eternity Springs and find their own happily ever after. It’s impossible not to want more of this series.

ARC of Heartsong Cottage.

I read this book in less than a day and Loved it. The story being Daniel Garretts, a man who lost his son due to a child abduction and his wife, who could not cope with the loss, there were some difficult parts in the book to read but I so enjoyed the way the whole story played out. Heartsong Cottage did not have all the conflict between characters that are prevalent in so many stories. There are emotional struggles but they are dealt with honestly and maturely and I really appreciated that in this story. You just love Daniel who is a great guy, who is truly a Hero for so many reasons and Shannon, who fits him perfectly because she has been running from traumatic events in her life. Heartsong Cottage was to me a page turner because I wanted to know what was going to happen with the main characters next, I wanted to know what Shannon was running from and I wanted to know what would bring the two together. If you love the Eternity Springs series by Emily March then add this to your to read list, you will not be disappointed.

In the 10th installment of Emily March's Eternity Springs series, we meet Daniel Garrett a private investigator who left the police force ten years ago after the tragic abduction and death of his 4 year old son and the loss of his wife. He meets Shannon O'Toole while visiting friends in Eternity Springs. Shannon also has a past that she is fleeing from. Can these two lonely souls find love and trust in each other??? The magic of Eternity Springs can work wonders!! Heartsong Cottage had a bit more suspense and intrigue than previous installments, making it a can't put down page turner for me. I hopefully see at least a few more potential stories coming out of this magical Colorado town.
Thanks so much to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for providing an ARC in return for an honest review.

I am a huge fan of the Eternity Springs novels and this book did not disappoint. I really like how characters from other Eternity Springs books pop up in all of these stories. Even though there may be mention of other story lines, these are also stand alone books.

In this one, both Daniel and Shannon, the main characters, have dealt with life's blows and struggle with taking a chance on falling in love again. I am a sap for a happy ending and without spoiling anything, after some interesting bumps in the road they get there.

I would recommend this book as well as any of the other Eternity Springs novels. I guarantee you will be counting them among your many blessings!

Eternity Springs has been one of my favorite series of all time. Emily March has created a town everyone would love to live in or visit. Heartsong Cottage does not disappoint. The theme of all of the stories revolves around one or two people having something in their life they need to resolve and how they work through this and come together as a couple. Emily weaves wonderful emotion filled stories that hold my interest all the way through. I normally start and end the book during the same day because I cannot stand to put an Eternity Springs book down!

Yuck. Hero finds out he is to be a father and absolutely goes off on the heroine calling her bitch and skank and accuses her of porking other men. Theres no grovel and she doesnt hesitate to take him back immediately after the lamest apology ever. I just wanted to tell her, girl.... verbal attacks like the one he beat you down with IS domestic abuse. Run. Far away. Get restraining order and don't look back.

Small town romance with a hefty dose of inspirational... and closed door love scenes. Not my usual thing but I can't deny Emily March aka Geralyn Dawson's heart warming storytelling has grown on me in a big way. Just a feel good story all around and perfect when you feel the need to escape into the town of Eternity Springs where love's healing grace conquers all.

4.5 stars. Another very satisfying read in this series.
Heartsong Cottage is # 10 in the Eternity Springs series by Emily March. Could you read it as a stand alone - of course, but why would you when there are just so many wonderfully heartwarming stories in the series.

This time its the turn of Daniel Garrett - he had a small part to play in a previous book when he found Holly the little girl that belongs to Hope from Miracle Road #7 in the series. His speciality is tracking down lost children. And it's usually not a happy result so he has a special place in his heart for Holly. Usually he sees the evil side of life as he brings home dead bodies. He has a special reason for doing this difficult work, involving his son's abduction and murder and his wife's suicide. Hope says of Daniel "He has the heart of a warrior and the dedication of a knight in shining armor. But he's also the loneliest man I've known."

Shannon O'Toole runs the local pub in Eternity Springs and has just finished renovating the beautiful small home of Heartsong Cottage. However she has secrets hidden in her past, secrets that keep her on edge and in fear. She is a strong loving woman but even she can only cope with so much.

Daniel and Shannon connect and as they do so in many ways their healing begins, hope begins to replace fear and evil. Darkness recedes somewhat as the warmth of love and friendship blossoms. In Eternity Springs there is a strong community of friendship that bonds the town folk, and when trouble comes visiting they're a formidable team. Add in some of the Callahans from Brazos Bend and strength is added to strength. And on top of that there is the angel/woman Celeste who is always there at the right time with her support, encouragement and healing presence.

The story moves along at a good pace, with plenty of action, there are times of conflict and strong feelings on the part of the characters, that has them acting out before thinking things through. There is much sadness and heartache alongside healing and hope.

If you like books about friendship, strong community bonds and books that are about second chances, healing and hope then this is one for you. And one that will keep you on the edge of your seat to the very end.

This story does take place around Christmas but it's not really a Christmas story as such, this is the perfect time of the year to read this book!

#10 in the Eternity Spring series

Thanks to NetGalley for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm really getting into this series, feeling more familiar with it and really getting to know so many of the characters. This time we meet Shannon, the local bar owner/yoga instructor/mosaics artist. She's involved with a lot of things, yet we don't really see her interacting too much with the townsfolk, mostly because she keeps to herself with her personal life because of some sort of secret crisis (at least that's what we assume since we know very little of her past through most of the book). Daniel, on the other hand, has lived through tragedy, and we heard much of his story in Holly's book, so it feels like we know him already. As we learn more about him, he becomes even more of a strong man who shoulders the struggles of others despite it also emotionally hurting him. He's just looking for a place to relax and refresh, and he feels that at Shannon's house, in Shannon's presence. They connect kind of accidentally at first, but their feelings grow stronger, and I was definitely rooting for them to get together sooner rather than later. It was clear that somehow their pasts were going to interfere with the present, and of course, they did, although in unexpected ways. Celeste, as always, has some good advice to offer, but she's becoming less intrusive and more helpful (in my opinion) as this series progresses. A very good addition to this series, well read by Amy Landon. I look forward to continuing with Chase and Lori's story next since we've seen them grow up together.

The Eternity Springs series is probably best read in order, but I have jumped around and have not had too much of a problem following the stories. Daniel Garrett and Shannon O'Toole are both hiding out in Eternity Springs for different reasons. Shannon is hiding from a stalker and Daniel is hiding from his memories. When they get drunk at a wedding and end up in bed together, the expectation is that it will be a one night stand. Unfortunately, life does not always work out the way you plan. They run into each other a few times and realize that they do have feelings for one another. Of course, once that realization hits, everything goes wrong. Will they find their way to each other? Will Shannon be able to be honest with Daniel? Will love win out once again in Eternity Springs?

This is a sweet romance with some angst along the way. There are a lot of characters from other books in the series and of course Celeste is there giving her enigmatic advice to the pair. My one niggle is that everyone is pretty well off and beautiful, but I can overlook that as I do enjoy this series. This was an emotional story with both Daniel and Shannon having has very sad past lives. They both deserve to love again, if they can overcome the hurdles they have set for themselves. This was not really a holiday story, which I had expected, but it was still a very heartwarming story, just what I expect from Emily March and the Eternity Springs series.

This novel was an emotional rollercoaster from the first chapter. It brought tears to my eyes more than once, and usually they were happy tears. March returns to Eternity Springs in such a manner that I truly felt as if I’d been there. She topped that off with an exciting story that held my attention. She melds romance with suspense in a very real way that I couldn’t help but get lost in.

I loved getting to know Daniel. Seeing him on his road to recovery while also living his life let me get to know him on so many levels. Shannon’s past and present collide in a remarkable manner. I loved her strength of character and compassion. They drew me to her and allowed me to connect with them. I love March’s take on country music. The main characters’ banter about it, and music in general really added an extra dimension to their characters for me.

This was an exciting and entertaining story that truly allowed the best of Eternity Springs to shine through. It truly held my attention throughout.

I was one of the lucky people who received an advance copy of this wonderful book. Heartsong Cottage is as good if not better than the rest of the Eternity Springs series. When I started reading I could not put the book down. I completed it in a few hours of non-stop reading. I highly recommend Heartsong Cottage.

Author: Geralyn Dawson writing as Emily March
First published: 2015
Length: 304 pages
Setting: Contemporary. Eternity Springs, Colorado.
Sex: Infrequent. Reasonably explicit.
Hero: PI that finds lost children.
Heroine: Flips houses, owns a pub
Includes: excerpt from Reunion Pass
Trigger: Suicide. Death of a child (including molestation). Stalker.

Nice mystery/suspense with lots of references to other books by the author. Enjoyable. Some dark themes coated in a sugary filler.

Easy chick lit, just a little al dente.

Welcome back to Eternity Springs, a small town in the Colorado Mountains where people have found hope, faith and love. Where lives are changed by individuals who aren't afraid to take a chance. Emily March writes this spectacular series with obvious joy. In Book 11 we once again are drawn into a story of hope and redemption and a second chance at love.

Daniel Garrett had it all, a beautiful wife, an adorable son and a career her loved until life happened. While he was saving another child from a car jacking, his son was being kidnapped. Unable to cope his wife killed herself. So now Daniel who had everything, has nothing. He leaves his career as a police officer and opens his own private detective agency, focusing on finding lost children.. But even that is no longer enough. Daniel is burnt out. When he meets, Eternity Springs' "Jill of all Trades" Shannon O'Toole, he has to wonder.. Is she it? And is he brave enough to let go of the past and live again?

Shannon O'Toole has been on the run forever, with the death of her fiance, she knew his killer would be watching for her and every couple of years, he lets her know. But Shannon has found Eternity Springs and has to wonder, can she finally find a place where she belongs? She has friends and now oh so sexy Daniel Garret is part of her life, bringing more than a little surprise with him.

Both Shannon and Daniel are fighting forever but seriously who can resist the pull of Ever After, when they live in Eternity Springs? Shannon and Daniel must face their pasts, deal with their nows and maybe just maybe have a future.

This book was wonderfully sweet, a true joy and one that makes you believe in Ever After.

Emily March took me right into the community of Eternity Springs and Daniel and Shannon's lives in Heartsong Cottage. I felt like I was right there with them!

Heartsong Cottage has it all...a little suspense, lots of romance, hope, heart ache, love, and joy. Emily evokes powerful emotions with her writing. She writes about a difficult, tragic subject sensitively and realistically. She drew me right into the lives of Daniel and Shannon. I really enjoyed these mature, believable characters. They both have tragedy and loss in their pasts, and have dealt with it the best way they can. Shannon is still fearful and always looking over her shoulder. Daniel's past has driven him to where he is today. Both of them are ready to move on from the past, but it is not going to be easy. The relationship that develops between them is unexpected and slow growing. This fits perfectly with the plot because these characters can't be rushed. I liked watching their relationship grow, wondering if they have finally found what they need in Eternity Springs.

The plot flows well and is well explained with just enough mystery seeping through it. The secondary characters are many who I have 'met' before in Emily March's Eternity Springs series, and I enjoyed seeing them again in the context of this plot. While I think this book can be read as a stand alone, reading the whole series is highly recommended because all of the people who live here are worth getting to know. It's a place I'd love to be!

I loved, loved how Emily March wraps up Heartsong Cottage in an unanticipated but highly fitting way that left me teary and feeling good. I'd highly recommend Heartsong Cottage to any romance reader!

I love revisiting Eternity Springs, where there's always a gently magical and healing atmosphere. This book is wonderfully written, but a little darker and sadder than some of Ms. March's stories. Just be forewarned...

Daniel Garrett was a police officer, happily married and with a young son, when the unthinkable happened ten years earlier. Now alone and lonely and so tired of working as a private detective searching for missing children, he comes to town for a friend's wedding. There he meets Shannon O'Toole, another lonely soul who lost her fiancee in a fall that she suspects wasn't an accident. She runs the local pub and renovates properties in Eternity Springs, always afraid she may have to move on.

After meeting at the wedding, Daniel and Shannon are drawn together, sensing the loneliness and neediness in each other. But after one sizzling night together, both pull away, afraid at first of becoming involved with someone.

When Daniel comes back to town, he's working an undercover assignment and Shannon misunderstands his situation and angrily decides he's not the man she thought he was. And while trying to convince her of the truth, Daniel starts to suspect that Shannon has some secrets of her own.

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley.

When reading Emily March's Eternity Springs series I know I am always going to get a wonderful story. Knowing Daniel's story and the tragic way he lost his son and then his wife, really had me pulling for my box of tissues and when you put in Shannon's story on how she came to be in Eternity Springs, well it makes for a great read. We meet a lot of the characters we like so much and as always we get our Celeste Blessing quotes of "Angel" wisdom.
