Being a huge fan of Frances Quinn since her Bake Off days, there was no way I wasn't going to purchase her book. I bought this a long time ago and have only just written this review, my apologies! I have baked every recipe from this book, and I love them all. So creative, fun and delicious. Roll on the next book!

A pretty book with some great ideas for cakes and biscuits, though with most modern baking books, the recipes have far too much sugar in them, that make the finish products sickeningly sweet to my family. I had to tweak the recipes to suit, which makes the book pointless to buy, though thankfully, I borrowed it from the library!

I remember watching Frances on the Great British Bake Off back in 2013 and I was so in awe of her quirky and creative approach to baking 💗👩🏼‍🍳 I was very pleased when she won the competition however, it was only recently that I stumbled across her recipe book. ‘Quintessential Baking’ is the sweetest title and fits Frances’ baking style perfectly.

If you’re quite an inexperienced baker this book may not be the one for you as many of the recipes are pretty whacky but if you love a good challenge, this would be wonderful 🙈💕

In my little recipe file I have jotted down 3 recipes that I want to try...

The first is a dainty set of pavlova ballet shoes 🎀 Inspired by the prima ballerina, this set of meringue pavlova cream-filled shoes are a light, fairy heaven! 🍥

The second recipe also follows a ballerina theme ~ a set of Swan Lake meringues. Each meringue swan is housed on a floating glacier mint lake which mirrors the scenes from the ballet 🌸🦢

Finally, a set of White Rabbit cupcakes with coconut shards and little fuzzy bunny tails! I can imagine serving these at a little Alice in Wonderland themed afternoon tea party ☁️🌸🐇🧁

There are so many wonderful recipes to experiment with but at the start of each section, Frances provides us with a basic recipe before leaving us with a fancier version eg. A simple carrot cake recipe precedes the White Rabbit Cupcakes 💗🐇🎂🥕
