Her novel writing career began with Between Boyfriends, a romantic comedy novel for women who've been "between boyfriends," which is much cooler than being single. Sárka-Jonae is a graduate of Syracuse University. Before writing full-time, she was a personal trainer and massage therapist, helping people tone up, slim down, and chill out. In her free time, SJ loves to dance in flash mobs, in music videos, on speakers, or at home in her underwear. She practices kung fu and yoga, was briefly a Buddhist nun, and travels extensively for "research." She's a huge animal lover and has been vegan since 1999. She's committed to respectfully unveiling the truth about the horrific way factory farms abuse animals. SJ lives in San Diego with a cat and two dogs.
I did not read the book that leads up to this one. I have to say, I fought through this book, but was not impressed at all. It never really grabbed my attention and with 3 story lines, there was not any character development. I felt like a lot of the grammar was 'fill in' sentences to make the story longer. There was way too much jumping around without smooth transitions from one story line to another or from one time frame to another. I won't be picking up any more books by this author.
I really enjoyed this book. Until I read the book's "note to readers" at the end, I somehow hadn't realized that this was book # 2 in a series, the first being "Spin Off: For Love or Money". I won't buy the 1st one since I've already read what happened since, but hopefully the author will write at least one sequel to this one ; ) I enjoyed reading the separate story lines of the 4 main female characters and where they intersected.
Here is a book for the modern woman. It's funny, relateable, and unique, but not afraid to be sexy as hell...the kind of book you read after you put the kids to bed and you're ready to escape into another life.
