Cathryn Forrester is a medieval business woman, the daughter of a successful wool merchant. She has been groomed from a young age to take over the family business, and has been quite content to let her personal life be directed by what is best for the business – including whom she will marry. And as a calmly pragmatic, infuriatingly stubborn and altogether practical young woman, this suits her just fine. She does not believe in love, after all.
So when Cathryn meets Favian Drake, a man who knows that love is worth pursuing, her ideas about love and marriage are put to the test. But Cathryn faces her greatest challenge when she discovers that Favian is not exactly who – or what – he appears to be. Can she learn to trust her heart and allow herself to love a dragon?
I’m hooked by The Dragon Archives series. I’m only on the second book, but I want to move to this world and marry a dragon shifter. 😁 This was a strong second book and a fun read.
This wanted to give all stars to this one, but sadly I can't. It started with so much promise, since I liked the intelligent and beautiful heroine and a pursuing but reasonable hero, immediately. However some things changed soon. Before going into that, I would say I always give importance to plot of the book as much as characters and fortunately this one did not disappoint me in that regard.
So other that this one big disappointment in one of the lead characters, I really liked it.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. With that said I loved this book. Due to the fact it is the second in a series I naturally acquired the first book and read it. Something that is not needed due to the fact it is pretty much a stand alone story. There is reference to a few characters from the first book but it was a in such a way that unless you had read the first book you would not know. I also read the free short story before reading Pursued by a Dragon. I very much enjoyed this story and can see this writer having a large a faithful following. Her characters a real feel to them and the background, well you feel as though you are right there. Flavian, is a dragon but also a man with many wonderful qualities. He never pushes Catherine too far or too hard even though at times I wanted to step behind him and give him a shove. I could not stop reading and even found myself reading while trying to eat my meals. If you like dragons, this is a wonderful story. It also give a whole new dimension to dragons. I was just saddened when the story ended. I could have lived with a couple hundred more pages
These are Dragon stories - but - they are ADULT dragon stories
Reading these stories is great fun. It's a little like when you were a kid and played hooky from school to stay home to read your new comic book. But these are for us older tykes with adult themes.
This is very much like something else I've read, or maybe I've read one of the later books in the series and just don't remember. It's sweet and innocent love wise with the young man being very patient. The young woman is strong willed and committed to her course until thoroughly convinced by evidence that she's wrong. Only then does she give in to her heart. Her father was a disappointment putting business before his daughter's happiness, but it all worked out. I adored the young man's parents. They were marvelous. Recommended.
I love a good dragon tale & thoroughly enjoyed reading this back story on the development of Favian's & Cathryn's relationship. I can hardly wait to read another book in this series...
I have read the first two of your ARchives series. Enjoying each . They just get better and better. Can't Waite to read the next one, rely am enjoying them.
I loved this back ground side story. I enjoyed the flow of the story better than the first book. I love both equally. I will definitely be continuing the series.
The book is short and as a voracious reader I finished it on a rainy day (the life of a housewife...not too shabby).
I haven't read the first book but found the story worked as an easy to follow stand alone.
While the book is generally well written, I do think the use of a (better) editor would help it out immensely. There were several mistakes--things like "Bruges" (the city) was spelled "Bruge", never ending sentences, and a paragraph where the word "concern" was used three times. Those things hamper the flow, but weren't as disruptive to my nerves as the overly descriptive word plays. The truth is: someone needs to take the author's thesaurus away. You can really tell when a story comes naturally to an author but the words just don't--and the overuse of the "synonym" key comes into play. That's what this felt like. Strained.
The concept is good and the story moves at a quick pace, although it does end rather abruptly. It's fresh and the medieval setting is wonderful. I actually found myself connecting with the heroine but, as other reviewers have stated, I felt Cathryn was portrayed as a bit of a simpleton against her business persona. The line between who is good and who is bad isn't layered enough to allow a reader to peel through and discover for themselves. Some readers really like being told outright who to like and who to hate. I just happen to not be one of those readers.
I would recommend this book as a fun, light read to anyone facing hours at the DMV, on an airplane, or anywhere else where you need a distraction. A solid three stars.
I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
This is a sweet paranormal romance in a historical setting. It's refreshing to occasionally read a romance without any sex. In fact there is even very little kissing in this book. I have to admit it took me a while to really get engaged by this book. The author's ability to describe the atmosphere of the book is pretty amazing. For example: "The air was still fresh and untouched by the heat of the day which would later ripen the smells into a more pungent melange". Cathryn is atypical of most women in that time because her dad has raised her to take over his wool merchant business. In fact a significant portion of the book is her traveling without her dad to buy wool from the suppliers. Her dad has raised her to focus on business instead of love, a result of him losing his beloved wife very young. Favian is a sweet guy (dragon as he insists at the end) who believes in love. Geoffrey, Cathryn's betrothed as a business arrangement, is a jerk from the beginning. You know something is up when he starts pushing her to get married after years of indifference. I loved the scenes at the end when Favian takes Cathryn on a flight through the countryside. I would be interested in reading a continuation of their story. I will be reading the first book in the series, which takes place after this book even though it was published first.

Pursued by a Dragon is the prequel to Bound by the Dragon, but books can be read independently. This book focuses on Cathryn and Favian's life, two of the characters we first meet, briefly, in the first installment.
Cathryn is a capable business woman in a medieval Europe of sorts, she's engaged to a man she doesn't love, but the union will further her family's business interests. She doesn't see a love in her future. Until she meets Favian Drake, that is, and unwilling sparks fly.
I didn't enjoy this books as much as I did the first. Cathryn was somewhat off-putting in adamant denial of her feelings and her unreasonable fear of dragons, long after she should have understood that he meant her no harm. That being said, I think Favian's reaction is justified.
This is one of those squeaky clean romances you can even give to your preteen, and I normally enjoy a little more... smut... But it was still an ok read.
The story I really want to read, though, is the tale of Jack, the black sheep (well, dragon) of the family that we met in the first novel.
Sometimes you have to wait a long time for your life to change the you always knew it should. Keira waited years to find love. Just when she was ready to take her vows a new man and a golden dragon come to town. The dragon lures her in instead of repelling and frightening her like the other villagers. Also, there is a Lord Aaron that is now the resident of the castle where the dragon is said to nest and he is intent on keeping her company. Edmund, a local boy and bully intends to make Keira his bride no matter her lack of interest in him. How far will he go to make Keira his wife and how far will the dragon go make make her his mate? This is an amazing and well-written fairy story with a happily for now ending. This is part of a series but is satisfying as a stand-alone as well. An enjoyable read.

Enchanting romance sure to sweep you off your feet
Cleverly written. Author displays witty humor and enchanting romance novels. I look forward to the next book sure to keep me up all night but definitely worth it. Especially favored book one in this series but find that this should have been book 1 so if you haven't book 1 read this one first. No spoiler alert. Believe the author just backtracked and decided to indulge us with the tail of how this couple came to be. If the author is reading this I would love to find out what happens to Anna and also if Jack comes back and stirs up any trouble or perhaps this beast can be tamed by a certain maiden???
This book wasn't at all what I expected after the first book in the series, but on the first page the author did note this was a story that took place ten years previous to the first. That said, it delved into the unusual relationship of fighting what you feel vs what you've grown up knowing your whole life. Cathryn was comfortable, was in line to inherit her father's successful business, and was betrothed to a man who would further the success of that business. The only thing she seemed to be missing was passion, at least until Favian entered her life. This story is that of Favian and Cathryn, Keira's dear friend.
I have received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This story is incredibly moving and rewarding with different aspects of life. Can true love and dragons have a place for someone in reality? Dragons may be a fantastical element, but looks can be deceiving, and not every hand that is dealt is often done with the heart in mind. The flow of the story, character development, and the need to continue the story had me reading it in 5 hours. Impeccable read by an incredible mind!
I received a digital copy of Pursued by a Dragon from Story Cartel in exchange for an unbiased review.
I haven't read the preceding novel, so the characters' future is unknown to me. The author conveyed a wonderful feel of innocent intimacy as Catherine learns to accept that Favian is a dragon, in keeping with the historical setting. I enjoyed the story and the characters but not enough to seek out that first novel.
This book was written as well as the first on but just not as good. Not enough action. I like it when there are rescue scenes and when the Drago shows his l poo 've for her with his power. This was like an ordinary love story between humans. The story was sweet but not enough superman displays.
Though I found the end of the book most disappointing, because it left me shocked it was the end of the story. I also think book 2 should be book 1. But again the author had me glued to every page. A wonderful read. Thank you Ms. Hopkins for these great stories.
This is Catheryn and Favian's book. Catheryn is betrothed to a man that she doesn't love but will marry for her father that is until she meets Favian.
This is how they meet, fall in love, how she finds out he is a dragon and it goes on from there. I loved this book but in all fairness I do love dragon stories.
great story. love the shapshifting the real feeling of fear when she first came to the understanding he was not human. The love story and all was great. I received this Ebook for free in exchange for a honest review
Love the ending of this short tale. Really looking forward to reading book 3 "Loved by a Dragon". Hope it's a little longer story. Will Anna learn to deal with Max?
I choose this rating because the book is very well written and had me glued to it at page one. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good love story with a dash or three of mythical creatures.
I love dragons. This book starts a world of dragon and human companionship which is pretty different from most romances of the sort. The book is very interesting and by the end you hope there's more.
