I just finished this book and… wow. Just wow! I seem to say that A LOT with Emilia Finn’s books, but I don't know how to put into words how much I loved this book. Hard to Love just wrecked me in the best way possible! You are so not ready for this book, but you are especially not ready for Oliver Darling. The characters were so real that I felt every, single, painful, and beautiful moment right along with them. I was laughing in one chapter and crying in the next and biting my nails in between. I devoured this forbidden (doctor x patient) romance where the only thing hotter than the fighting lessons is the forced proximity.
The story kicks off with Rose, who survives a traumatic accident that leaves her with temporary retrograde amnesia. She wakes up with no memory of her past, only fear. Enter Oliver Darling, the physician whose job it is to mend her body but over time also wants to heal her shattered heart. These characters are everrrrrything. Rose is this vulnerable, confused, but feisty woman trying to rebuild her life. She is so easy to root for, and you just want to hug her. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love Ollie. (I’m going to lick him. Then he’s mine, right!?!) Ollie is this protective and kind and tender cinnamon roll of a hero. He’s the perfect gentlemen but once he crosses through the bedroom door and the restraints come off? Whoo boy! Ollie is scorching hot perfection in the bedroom. The relationship between Ollie and Rose develops organically over shared pudding cups, books and games but because Rose has no safe place to go and is suffering from amnesia, she is forced to move into Ollie’s house. This forced proximity kicks the tension up a notch, the chemistry really flares to life, and their relationship heats up in all the best ways. Warning: Reading this might just make you sweat. 🥵
I want to live inside this story. I mean who wouldn’t want to go to hang out in Plainview with these characters that feel like friends. Fighting lessons with the guys and gals at Love & War gym? Yes, please. Girls’ night with Rose, Eliza, Alana, Fox and Raquel? Duh! You don’t have to ask me twice. Visting Alana’s bookstore? Go ahead and take my money. Competing with Franky and Rose at “did you knows”? Game on. If I could walk right into these pages, I would.
Emilia Finn also expertly uses a bit of suspense to unravel Rose’s past. The suspense was the perfect way to elevate an already great plot and I ate it up. The tension builds in a way that feels natural and in perfect harmony with the development of the characters and the story at large, keeping me hooked from the first page.
Ultimately, this book is a must read that combines stellar writing with an addictive storyline that moves at a perfect pace and is anchored by compelling characters you can’t help but adore. Honestly? You might come for the plot, but you’ll definitely stay for swoon worthy Oliver Darling. Heart, heat, humor, and a most satisfying happily ever after. This was everything I wanted in a romance. 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Every single book in the series just gets better and better, I cannot say enough about this series. This book is Ollie’s story Dr. Darling or Dr. douchebag as he may be known. A Jane Doe comes into the ER no identification and she cannot remember anything about her life. He takes special care and when it’s time for her to go to another facility, he can’t bear to let her go, and she can’t bear to leave him. So he does what any doctor does and invites her to his home. Ultimately Jane feels like her name is Rose and that’s what we call her.
She’s become a minor celebrity in town because it’s such a small town and because Barbara the lady who hit her with her car insists that Rose is just going to sue her and will tell anybody who listens. I do love a story where the town becomes a character and this is no different.
While she’s trying to remember her past Ollie and Rose stumble around each other, not saying what they’re feeling. He’s afraid she’s gonna leave. She’s just afraid of everything. I will say one of my personal highlights was the girls day drinking scene. It was just too funny. She starts a relationship with all of all the people in Ollie‘s life who are dear to him and they slowly become her family. Even her and Frankie have a delightful “Did you know”competition full of facts nobody cares about, but I couldn’t get enough.
Slowly little bits and pieces niggle through her mind and she doesn’t know if they’re memories or dreams or real or not until a strange man appears in town and by this time Ollie and Rose are in love. They even are a cat mom and dad. They are a whole family and this new man is about to destroy Everything.
The only thing that would make this book better is if I had it in audio and I’m begging you, Emilia Finn get this series to audio as soon as you can and I urge everyone to get this series and read it all. #bookreview #romancebookstagram #bookstagram
Emilia Finn just keeps raising the bar — and at this point, I genuinely don’t know how she does it. With over 70 books under her belt, you’d think there’d be a plateau somewhere. There isn’t. Hard to Love might honestly be one of her strongest yet.
This book is a scorcher in the best way. It took me a little while to read (life, unfortunately, insists on interrupting), but every chapter was worth it. The characters absolutely shine.
Ollie is everything I love in a hero. A subtle powerhouse. A gentle giant. Quiet strength wrapped in loyalty so fierce it’s almost breathtaking. And when the people he loves are threatened? He doesn’t hesitate. He protects. Period.
Then there’s Rose. She’s clipped by a car and wakes up with a traumatic brain injury — and the way Finn writes her memory loss is hauntingly realistic. Can you imagine waking up and not knowing who you are? Not remembering the first 20+ years of your life, yet still knowing how to breathe, eat, speak, dress yourself? The duality of that loss is written so convincingly it feels lived-in. It’s emotional without being melodramatic. Raw without being exploitative.
Ollie getting Eliza to help train? Very OG roller vibe. Eliza stepping in to teach Rose how to fight was such a powerful thread. Those lessons stick — in more ways than one — and watching Rose rebuild herself is deeply satisfying.
And then… the fiancé shows up. Three months later. Claims everything is legitimate. Says all the right things. Looks perfect on paper.
Too perfect.
The local boys in blue aren’t buying it. Ollie definitely isn’t buying it. And honestly? Neither was I. The tension that builds around that storyline is chef’s kiss.
I won’t spoil anything, but just know this: the suspense, the loyalty, the emotional depth — it all lands.
I cannot wait for more books set in our favorite Roller Town 2.0. Emilia Finn has created something special here, and somehow, she keeps making it better.
This book delivered everything I wanted and more. Ollie & Rose’s story brought heartache, compassion, hope, love, & suspense. The sense of community and love that Plainview delivers is warm & welcoming…I just wanted to live there. Rose arrives in Ollie‘s ER battered and bruised after a traumatic accident which left her unknown of who she was or why she was there. Scared of everyone & everything around her, Dr. Oliver Darling finds himself being the only person to help soothe her & help her find her calm. Ollie’s level of compassion and care is everything that Rose needs and more. Navigating a world that is brand new & confusing to her, Ollie’s presence & friendship brings her comfort. Though Rose is in a very vulnerable position, Ollie’s help & protectiveness brings her strength. He lets her make her own decisions & lets her become her own person. As these two slowly find themselves falling for each other, they find themselves very easily creating a new norm together. But, they both know that someday, her past life may come back to find her. When her old life & new life collide, will they be left heartbroken or will her identity bring love & comfort? I loved everything about this read. Emilia always brings the swoon with her men, & always brings the bada$$ with her heroines. This one was no exception, but Rose’s is on a whole other level. To pick up and move on with no recollection of a life before takes true grit & resilience. I loved the support Ollie had from his friends & the support they were willing to lend to Rose when she needed it most. I even loved their reluctance as it showed true love for their own. I found myself experiencing all of the emotions as this storyline played out & found myself on the edge of my seat as it came to an end. Emilia packed this book full of swoon & suspense that can’t be missed.
This book follows Ollie and Rose. He's a small‑town doctor we’ve met in earlier books and Rose is a young woman who is hit by a car one snowy night and brought into his hospital. With no ID, no belongings, no records, no missing‑person match, nothing about her situation adds up: her clothes don’t suit the weather, she’s terrified, and she remembers absolutely nothing.
Ollie being Ollie, he can’t just leave her to the mercy of a hospital administration that wants her discharged because they can’t confirm insurance. So he takes her in, determined to help her recover and keep her safe while the local police try to figure out who she is. Slowly, fragments return: her real name, Rose, and a few scattered memories that don’t quite fit together. In the meantime, she becomes part of the town’s found family, rescues a cat, and slowly falls for the one person who makes her feel grounded.
The first half is gentle, cosy, and a little slow. I liked the dynamic between Ollie and Rose, but around the midpoint I did feel the pacing drag. But then the second half hits, and suddenly everything sharpens.
Rose starts dreaming about people she can’t place (a friend named Liam, someone called Darcy) and the dreams turn darker, more violent, more confusing. Are they memories? Fears? Something in between? When a man arrives claiming to be her fiancé, everything seems to check out… but he’s too perfect, too polished, and Rose feels an instinctive unease she can’t explain.
The final act is tense, emotional, and genuinely gripping. Ollie’s protectiveness, Rose’s courage, and the found family rallying around them all come together in a way that feels earned.
Overall, despite a slow first half and a hefty page count (508!), I really enjoyed this. Emilia’s writing style is warm, immersive, and character‑driven, and I love the way her cast always feels like real friends. Once the mystery kicked in, I was fully invested. A solid, satisfying mix of small‑town romance and suspense, and one I’d happily recommend.
*Thank you to the author for an ARC of this title.
Hard to Love: A Beautifully Explosive Story of Love and Healing
Emilia Finn strikes again with Hard to Love—and absolutely knocks it out of the park. This story is intense, heartfelt, explosive, and beautifully layered with humor and love. From the very first chapter, I was completely hooked. It’s the kind of book that’s nearly impossible to put down.
I found myself swooning one moment, tearing up the next, and then laughing out loud at scenes so perfectly written that I didn’t even care who was watching. The emotional range in this novel is incredible, and every feeling hits deeply and authentically.
Doctor Darling’s love for Jane Doe/Rose can be felt from the very beginning. As someone who always blames himself when things go wrong, watching his journey unfold was powerful and emotional. He truly deserved happiness, and seeing his story come together so beautifully was an unforgettable experience.
Jane Doe/Rose is an absolute fighter. Even in the midst of fear and uncertainty, she never gives up. Her love for Ollie is extraordinary, especially considering everything she endures. She gives selflessly and loves with her whole heart, making her strength and devotion all the more inspiring.
Emilia’s books never cease to amaze me. From her debut to her most recent release, she has a rare ability to captivate readers and hold them there until the very last page. I even find myself rereading her previous books while waiting for the next one to come out—because her storytelling is just that good.
Hard to Love is unforgettable. Emilia Finn is truly an amazing writer, and this book is another powerful reminder of why.
Thank you to Emilia Finn for giving me the chance to read an ARC copy. 🫶
I cannot express how much I truly loved this story! Emilia displays her unbelievable talent from the very first page until the very end as she tells the fascinating story of Ollie and Jane/Rose. As Rose is first introduced, her wide array of emotions are described in such a way that I could put myself in the character's shoes and connect with her so deeply. And I couldn’t help but root for her without knowing any of her history, whether she was 'good' or someone who would bring trouble to town. There is truly so much mystery surrounding Rose, and she lucked out getting Ollie as her ER doctor because his protective nature instinctively kicks in as he treats her in the hospital. And wow, Ollie is a softie whose big heart quickly captured me and had me swooning!
Ollie and Rose are two characters that I adored from the beginning, but my interest grew as more and more was revealed about each of them. It was a journey to watch them begin to interact and see how Rose's situation would impact each of their lives short-term, and possibly further into the future. As the storyline was spelled out each chapter, I couldn't stop flipping pages while smiling, crying, and laughing. Every tear and tissue was completely worth it. Emilia had me constantly guessing what brought Rose to Plainview and where the story was heading next, and I devoured every piece!
Emilia Finn has done it again. I swear, every single time I pick up one of her books, I tell myself I won’t fall head over heels for the hero… and every single time, I do anyway. Ollie is no exception. He’s protective and flawed in all the right ways, and somehow completely irresistible. Emilia just knows how to write men who feel real — strong but soft where it matters.
But what truly sets Hard to Love apart is Rose. Her story is chilling in a way that sneaks up on you. It’s emotional, raw, and at times hard to sit with — but in the best way. Emilia handles her backstory with care, depth, and authenticity, allowing you to truly understand her strength. Watching Rose navigate her past while opening her heart is powerful and incredibly moving. The suspense with Darcy and Liam was so intense!!
The chemistry between Ollie and Rose is tender and beautifully written. Their connection feels earned. Nothing about their love feels easy and that’s what makes it so satisfying. Hard to Love is emotional and full of heart. Emilia Finn doesn’t just write romance; she writes healing, redemption, and characters you carry with you long after the last page.
And yes… I’m once again completely in love with her hero.
"I beg you to hear this. Stop expecting perfection in an imperfect world, and stop holding yourself to a standard you think I want, when I never asked for it."
Wow! This story was not hard to love at all, but it sure did give me anxiety!! Ollie falls hard and fast - even if he pretends he didn't. She has no idea who she is or what she left behind and she's soooo skittish. Enter in all the bestie family from Love and War and she'll get stronger but... will she ever remember?? We know Ollie is easy to love, he's a fixer and takes on too much. I love that he found his obsession. (Poopy Poppy is one of my favorite side characters by Emilia!) I'm sad this one had to end. I wanted more and more - even though the anxiety had me in its grasp for a good bit. I am going to stew in my anxiety and watch for who could be next in Plainview - tossing my votes between Eliza and Billy at this point - but knowing I need more! Love this town almost as much as Roller Town, so far and its only slightly behind because I dont have as many characters to obsess over yet.
Emilia Finn is simply magic! Truly! I have placed her on a pedestal that is untouchable. More than 80 books deep, and somehow every couple she introduces becomes your new favorite….until the next one steals your heart. The Love and War series book 3 is Hard To Love, this massive 160,000+ word masterpiece, her largest yet, she’s done it again. I feel like I’ve just stepped off the wildest emotional roller coaster…..my heart it racing! I am completely, hopelessly in love with Oliver Darling. Ollie. Ol. Darling by name and darling by nature, and then came some huge Alpha energy. Wow! Oliver and Rose are everything a love story should be—raw, fated, tender, messy, powerful….their laughs and tears were contagious! Their meeting was a chance encounter. Their journey is a perfect mixture of love, loss, memory gaps, chaotic dreams, and a mystery begging to be pieced together. Add a smoking hot yet disgustingly sweet doctor on call, some perfectly placed “did you knows,” by the irresistible Franky, the all powerful Darling sisters, The Love and War crew, Troopy/Cliff providing main-character energy, and a hint of future trouble in the form of Billy….This Book is Platinum. I devoured it…but slowly, intentionally…..wanting to savor every single word. And it did not fail me. Emilia Finn just keeps raising her own bar, and somehow keeps clearing it. She’s a mastermind and being “Brave enough to take up Space!”
Hard to Love …Hard to put down!! This book had me reading when I should have been sleeping and when I should have been working. Emilia Finns Love and War crew was back at it and this time Dr. Oliver Darling was our focus in Hard to Love. But let me say Ollie is sooo easy to love!!
You will love this book, it has all the feels! I was laughing, I shed more tears than I have in a long time(I almost DM’d Emilia and asked WTH), there was angst and mystery I wasn’t expecting at all. This book really had it all and the supporting characters had such great scenes in here too. I can’t wait for everyone to enjoy this book. Ollie Darlings love interest is so special and has such a ride along the way in this book. Emilia does such a fantastic job of taking us along the ride with this woman, that shows up in Dr Darling’s ER with no memory. This is her and Ollie’s story and path they take. You won’t be sad you took the time to pick it up. If you haven’t read the rest of Emilia Finn’s books do yourself a favor and pick the first one up.
Oh my! Oliver Darling you did not disappoint! This book is soooo thick! But you’ll be scrambling to keep reading more and more, never wanting it to end! The kind hearted, heartthrob of a Doctor fell victim to the kaleidoscope emitting from Jane Doe’s eyes… swoon. His fierce love for his friends and family is powerful, traumas from his past make him feel inadequate but the faith and trust one person puts into him changes his trajectory and makes him wonder if breaking the rules were worth it.. Yeah they were! 😝 I don’t want to spoil this but HOLY MOTHER OF —- THIS BOOK?! If you fell in love with Ollie at the start of Love & War, you just wait because he loves and he loves HARD! Jane, ma’am, Ms Doe.. you’re powerful and strong and are an absolutely amazing woman. All clap for Eliza too because that girl is badass. In honor of where all this started it’s a damn good thing that; GIRLS FIGHT TOO! 😜💖
I don’t even think I can put it into words how much I LOVED this book! Just finished it and already want to read it again. Then I want to go to Plainview and visit all the Darlings and Watkins that I love just as much as the Rollers and Copeland crew!
No spoilers here just my honest thoughts. I have been waiting for Ollie’s book and this did not disappoint. The character building was beautiful. I loved watching Rose find herself. I loved Ollie’s inability to dismiss her as his patient. The banter, the suspense, the twists and turns…perfection! And Frankie and Rose’s “did you knows” just added to the list of things I adored about this book. Emilia Finn has a way of making small town personalities larger than life. I love how it feels like visiting new friends in a familiar place. In Hard to Love, we even see some of the Copeland crew from the Sinful series. It all ties together so beautifully.
Omg this book was amazing! I took my time instead of devouring like I normally do and it was worth it. I don't even know how to describe the rare gem that is Ollie. If you like them kind, generous, supportive, mischievous, silly, with a dirty side you don’t quite expect, and so much more, he's it.
As for Rose watching her grow into a baddie from a broken mess had me screaming and cheering the whole way through. She embodied so many of us who have had to rebuild ourselves from ground up and overcome the mean voices that try and hold us back. I absolutely adored her.
I think my favorite part was watching them take the journey together. Yet again Emilia crafted a story that broke your heart a bit and then put it back together better than before. I highly recommend you hit only read it but go slow. Its worth every minute and then some!
𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 is the 3rd book in the Love and War series by Emilia Finn, featuring a mind-blowing MMA, forbidden romance between our swoon-worthy Dr. Ollie and his amnesiac patient, “Rose.” Be ready for an epic roller coaster of emotion, angst, suspense, and the sharp wit that can only come from the clever characters formed in the devious brain of Emilia Finn!😅 I love that her female characters are bada$$es in their own right, and watching Eliza blossom even further as a secondary character has me beyond excited!! Rose though, was amazingly crafted, even shrouded in questions and fear, and Ollie?! That man started stealing my heart in earlier books, but now, I just want to be the one sharing books and pudding cups with him!🥰 The way he can exude the ultimate level of compassion and protectiveness, and also kick up the heat behind closed doors, makes him a unicorn in the book boyfriend sweepstakes!😍🔥 This is a story that you can’t compare to any other, and you will laugh, cry, blush, sweat, and be surprised while reading it! I love how the EF worlds collide, and the way Cato Malone just had to get little references in there made me giggle so much! Every book ends up being such an unexpected gift, I cannot wait for whatever happens next!!
I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Emilia did it again! But I mean, really, Is that a surprise?? Loved this book so much! The suspense the love, the angst without keeping us hanging to long, the growth, the laughter and the sorrow, mix all those together and it makes for a perfect book. I love that she made you feel like you were in that moment with the characters watching Ollie and Rose banter back and forth and fall in love, seeing the transformation in Rose from the beginning of the book to the end, seeing her come into and find herself. I love the relationship all of these characters have and how they all look out for each other and I can’t wait to continue this series and be immersed back into Plainview to see where she takes us. Also…loved the teensy tiny Minka cameo😉.
Paging Dr. Douchebag, not likely,Oliver Darling is anything but. He’s a big softy with a huge heart, especially when it comes to the women in his life. So when Jane Doe finds her way into Ollie’s hospital he has no choice but to take care of her. We all know Emilia Finn writes smart and strong FMC’s, so Ollie is there to make sure Jane is okay medically and has her back in every other way. The mystery and suspense and the twist and turns are enough to keep you guessing until the end. I fell in love with Ollie and Rose’s love story, even when my heart was breaking with all the unknowns. I loved watching all our faves from Plainview interact with the new couple and the way the ladies brought Rose into the fold. Another 5 star from Emilia Finn.
Holy smokes, this is easily one of my top reads of 2026 and the year has barely even started! I am still swooning over the sweet love that is Doctor Darling. I am completely obsessed with Ollie and Rose. Every single time I read one of Emilia’s books, I find myself wishing I could teleport into the town and become best friends with the characters and fall in love with every MMC. The banter is hands-down one of my favorite things and never misses! Doctor Darling blew past all of my expectations, and I loved how effortlessly Rose fit into the Plainview crew. I loved the crossover with Raquel (please tell me she’s getting a book 🙈) plus getting even more Eliza on the page absolutely made me so excited to see what’s she becomes. I’m already counting down to whatever comes next!
I received this book as an ARC. let me tell you, Emilia does not disappoint! Even after writing so many love stories she still finds a way to bring something new to the table. Her stories always feel fresh, and not just a new spin on an old plot.
Ollie is a small town Dr that treats a beautiful woman who was just in an accident and can’t remember who she is. Throughout the story of trying to figure out who Jane Doe is and where she came from the duo finds out so much more. The twist and turns (plus cross over cameos!) will leave you wanting more.
The mysterious dreams Jane Doe keeps having and the way Emilia Finn beautifully crafts the story of where Jane came from gives this romance book a flare of suspense making it even harder to set down!
The third book in the Love and War series is verry long! It can be read as a standalone but knowing the characters from the first two books enhanced my enjoyment of this one. Ollie, a doctor, wants to help injured and amnestic Rose get her life back. Together, they try to find clues to her past. Their story is a slow burn, but when they connect, it’s an explosion. I love the tension build up—Ollie’s selfless protectiveness and professional boundary crossing, Rose’s trust leaning into independence, then their fears of what the future holds for them. The secondary characters are fantastic, especially Ollie’s sisters Eliza & Raquel. There’s banter, fighting (hey, it’s Love & War!), and a bit of suspense too. Am loving this series.
Emilia Finn did it again with Hard to Love. She has such a gift for creating characters that feel real, layered, and impossible not to care about. I was completely invested from beginning to end and genuinely didn’t want to put it down.
This was such a strong continuation of the Love & War series. The emotional depth, the character growth, and the pacing kept me hooked the entire time. I especially love how Emilia weaves in crossover characters and little mentions from her other books — it makes her world feel so connected and immersive.
If you’ve been following this series, this installment absolutely delivers. Emilia’s storytelling never disappoints.
Emilia's books just keep getting better and better
Hard to Love delivers a blend of romance, suspense, and emotional intensity that keeps you hooked from the very first page. Set against a small-town backdrop, the story follows a mysterious young woman who wakes up with no memory after a traumatic accident, and the guarded doctor who becomes her unexpected anchor. Emilia does an excellent job building tension—not just through the unfolding mystery of Rose's past, but through the slow-burning, complicated relationship between her and Ollie. Their connection feels raw and real, layered with hesitation, vulnerability, and undeniable chemistry. The emotional push-and-pull between duty and desire is one of the stories strongest elements.
The beginning was slow, but the characters were likable so I kept going. Who wouldn't love Doctor Darling? By midpoint, there was also a fun cast of characters (I hadn't read their story in the series, but sounds like lots of drama!) The story picked up once she left the hospital. The major sticking point that was going to earn the book 3 stars was the sex scene. The alpha in the bedroom can be hot, but not necessarily after a traumatic event. Not sure if Jane would want it that rough the first time, but someone else may have a different opinion. The ending was exciting and HEA so earned the 4th start for me. I won't go back in the series, but I'm real curious about the rest of the characters so I would read the next.
Emilia Finn did it again! I was so excited to read Ollie’s love story and once I started it I could not put it down. I love getting small snippets of characters in her stories then later they get their time to shine. This story really let Ollie shine!!!! Ollie really put Rose first and showed the selfless person he is, but Emilia was able to write it so that he was still a strong character even with his selflessness. Emilia always manages to throw in an unexpected curveball to keep her readers on their toes. Rose and Ollie are two new characters I’m so glad I got to know and I can’t wait to see snippets of their life together throughout her upcoming books.
This is a beautiful story of selfless love. Of a man with patience. A man who will do not whatever it takes to get the girl, but whatever is best for the girl. Dr. Oliver “Ollie” Darling is as good as they get. He guides Rose through her traumatic injury and memory loss. Rose may not remember who she is or why she’s afraid of just about everyone, but she knows in her gut that Ollie is a good man. The chemistry between them is spot on and so captivating. Throw in Ollie’s sisters with their over the top energy and teasing sibling spirits and you get this amazing story. Emilia Finn has given us another knockout book.
This book was beyond amazing! Only Emilia Finn can make me feel nervous, ragey, excited and happy while also laughing my booty off during reading. Oh Doctor Darling. You are too good for this world! His character has got to be everyone’s dream book boyfriend. And sweet, troubled Rose. She overcame so much in such a short time. I’m glad the series isn’t over so we can learn more about her. The suspense in this story was so well written and hard to predict. But I love that there were so many funny moments and scenes to keep things from getting too heavy. I could read more books just about these two and Poppy/Poopy. Thank you for another beautiful story.
I received this book as an ARC and am thrilled to leave an honest review.
What can I say? I have loved every single book this woman has written, and this book was no exception. Having been through some of what the FMC Rose has been through, this book made me feel SEEN. And I so appreciate that. And the curb stomping? Literally cheered at 2am. Eliza is amazing. Scratch that, the whole crew is amazing. And all the Titanic references called to my soul. One of my favorite subjects ever, so thank you for that.
Every time. Every dang time. Emilia made me cry. The last 25% of the book had me worried but I knew we’d get an HEA.
Ollie meets “Jane Doe” when she ends up getting hit by a car and has no memory of who she is and where she’s from. Ollie takes care of her at the hospital, where “Jane” decides it’s a dumb name and she thinks “Rose” is the right name. Ollie ends up taking care of her while she recovers, and feelings start to develop. But, of course the past doesn’t stay the past, and now Rose has to deal with it coming to a head.
I knew Oliver Darling was going to be my favourite before I read Hard to Love and I was not wrong. So often in this book I had to stop reading because I couldn't see through glassy eyes, even writing this, and I just want to be able to read it again for the first time. I love the fact that the Love & War family are prominent through each others books, and this was no exception. I don't have the right words for how good this story was, it's heartbreaking and joyful and heartbreaking again. Loved it!
Every time I read a new Emilia Finn book I think it can’t be better than the last one, and I am always proven wrong! Ollie is the epitome of a gentleman and takes on the problems of all his family and friends. Rose has no clue who she is or if she will ever know. Ollie doesn’t care who Rose is and is determined to keep her for hisself. One of the best parts of book is the drinking party she has with Alana, Eliza, Fox and Raquel! There are a lot of twists and turns to keep you reading until you have finished book! But then you want to go right back and read it again!
