About the author

Dr. Ken Ham is the president of Answers in Genesis USA and is a well-known speaker and author on the subject of Young-Earth Creationism. He received a bachelor degree in applied science (emphasis on environmental biology) from the Queensland Institute of Technology, and a Diploma of Education from the University of Queensland. He has also received two honorary doctorates: a Doctor of Divinity from Temple Baptist College, and a Doctor of Literature from Baptist Liberty University.

He was a director of Creation Science Foundation (CSF) in Australia, an organization which he jointly founded with John Mackay. In 1987 he moved to the United States, still maintaining his links with CSF.

From 1987 to 1993, Ham worked for the Institute for Creation Research, and in 1994 set up what in 1995 became Answers in Genesis (AiG), a creation ministry dedicated to "upholding the authority of the Bible from the very first verse."

In 2008 Ham was described by well known atheist and evolutionary biologist PZ Myers as a "Wackaloon" for carrying out a prayer session with members of the Pentagon. Ham responded regarding the validity of that prayer breakfastand that PZ Myers and other critics were intolerant of his position.

From our favorite Aussie comes the story of how God miraculously led he and his wife to a lifetime of service for Him. We finally made it to the Ark Encounter this past year. What a great experience including a musical concert at the end of the day. Plus, we heard Ken Ham speak himself with a powerful message surrounding the thief on the cross with Jesus. This book is filled with unbelievable stories and an abundance of pictures about their epic journey, first in Australia as a science teacher and then across the ocean to take up residence in America and build a thriving Christian organization. To accomplish with his team the Creation Museum and the Ark is simply astonishing especially when you consider the hateful opposition to those projects by local and national atheists, politicians and media types. Their online presence is second to none as they have multiple platforms to give you the answers to your questions about many of the aspects of the Bible including of course Genesis (Answers in Genesis) and creation which was his burning desire from the beginning to combat the fallacies of evolutional theory. He gives all the credit to God and the faithful people around him that made everything happen.

Answers in Genesis has built an impressive ministry of faith-building resources and world-class attractions that affirm the truths of scriptures. But these things did not come into existence without a struggle. There were many moments where the vision would have perished because of the many impossible hurdles that arose along the way. But God did the miraculous, over and over!

I will admit that, at first, the book was a bit hard to get into because of some formatting issues ( the headings are easy to miss but super important for context.) I also was already familiar with some of Ken Ham's early life from some of his other works, so I thought the whole book might be redundant. Thankfully, I was wrong! After the first 2 chapters, I couldn't wait to read about what came next!

I felt like I had a front row seat, watching how God was working to direct Ken and his family, and to orchestrate all of formative details of the ministry of Answers in Genesis, and Ken's influence on Master Books. Both of these ministries have had a life-changing impact on my own family so this book was a huge encouragement and an inspiration to me!

I had to read with a box of tissues nearby! I was overwhelmed with watching how God worked in so many details. He brought world-class attraction designers to help design the Creation Museum and the Ark, and had even been preparing the perfect crew to build the Ark encounter. God also provided the impressive former national headquarters of Toyota in Cincinnati as a space for the offices of AIG and their Answers Academy Christian school. There have been many rumors about AIG that this book helps clear up as well. I loved how the other influential characters also wrote about their perspective on the Miraculous ways God has worked in this Ministry.

Whether you are new to AIG, and curious about their ministry, or if you are a long-time fan, this book will be an encouragement to you to keep pressing on and look for the Tapestry of Grace God is weaving in your own life!

As a homeschooling parent committed to providing a Christ-centered education, I found Miraculous to be both inspiring and deeply encouraging. This book offers far more than a biography—it’s a testimony to God’s faithfulness through the life of Ken Ham and the incredible ministry of Answers in Genesis.
The story traces Mr. Ham’s journey from humble beginnings in Australia to becoming a global voice for biblical authority and creation apologetics. For my children and me, reading about the many obstacles he faced—and how God opened doors in the face of opposition—was a powerful reminder that standing firm in your convictions matters, especially in a world that often pushes back against biblical truth.
I appreciate how this book reinforces the importance of a strong foundation in Scripture. It gave me renewed confidence in why we choose to teach science and history through a biblical worldview. I also loved that it provided insight into the development of the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter—places we’ve visited and now see with even deeper appreciation.
Ken Ham’s story reminded me that one faithful life, guided by God, can impact generations. I highly recommend Miraculous to other homeschool families who want to encourage their kids (and themselves!) to be bold for Christ and trust God’s leading, even when the path is challenging.

Homeschooling for years…we have read many books by Ken Ham but never knew his backstory until now. This book beautifully walked us through Ken’s amazing journey. Taking us back to the influence of his younger years with his parents and how he really learned about strong beliefs and not giving into what we know isn’t right…but actually questioning it you really see his life start to play out. Ken loved learning about creation and didn’t like how evolution was being pushed from every angle. He saw a calling of making books available for others who also had so many questions about evolution. God worked out every detail using amazing people along the way, bringing the exact amount of money when they needed it, a way for transportation or just being the right person for the need that was at hand. With his faithful wife Mally by his side and God leading the way nothing is ever impossible. Thank you Ken for your faith in the Lord and following your God given calling.

This is an inspiring and interesting book, especially meaningful to those who are familiar with Ken Ham and Answers in Genesis. The many photos are beautiful and add a lot of interest. I enjoyed reading Ken Ham’s story, all the way from his childhood to the present and also enjoyed learning about life in Australia. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to learn more about Ken Ham, his family, and Answers in Genesis. This is an encouraging and challenging book that reminds us that following God requires many steps of faith, yet God is always faithful.

I literally felt like I was having a conversation with Ken Ham and his team. The way that he had to take so many steps of faith to get where he is today is literally miracle after miracle. He chose the perfect title for this storyline of his family and ministry. The creation museum and the Arc are ministries that prove God used him to bring answers to those searching for foundational truth from Genesis! I highly recommended you read this book to clear any questions you may have about these museums and about Gods foundation for us!

I laughed. I smiled.
And I felt I have been to dinner with the dear Ham couple.

Maybe it is something about having pretty quick births myself, or leading a christian publishing house ministry with my husband, or having witnessed God's leading in my own life more and more. Or all of it. It just was the most relaxing, fellowship-ful and encouraging book for me.

So thankful for Ken and Mally's faith and faithfulness in life and ministry!

It’s full of miraculous stories from Ken Ham’s life, including those of his parents, wife, children, friends, and coworkers. It shows how God used him to bring answers to those searching for truth—and how He continues to use him today through the Answers in Genesis ministry.
This is a great book for families to read together. I highly recommend it!

As someone who has been plugged into the Answers in Genesis ministry with Ken Ham for the past 25 years, this book is a delightful history of Ken’s evangelistic work and growth of the ministry. Our family has been to the creation Museum and Ark many times since our kids were babies (now young adults), and we can’t wait to go back every year or two and see the new exhibits. May God continue to help Answers in Genesis faithfully proclaim the authority of the Bible and the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ.
