When the world is ending, what do you do with your time? For Maeryn, the answer is you find a solution. The surface of the world is shrouded in a deadly, mutative Mist... and it's spreading. Mana, the magical force keeping it at bay, is running dry. A decade of research has failed, leaving sky-dwelling Zephyria and subterranean Geova ready to go to war, each convinced the other is to blame. With only a year remaining before total collapse, Maeryn takes matters into her own hands. Joined by Dan, a gifted alchemist, and Frankie, a manic engineer, she sets off on a journey of a lifetime.
They'll uncover the truth. They'll forge a solution. They’ll save their world. Or they'll die trying.
This damn book is a masterpiece! I swallowed it whole and want more. This book has me hooked and I love it so much.
It has so much good sass, banter and humor in it, while still being on the serious side to a degree that it needs to be for this topic.
Friendship has a huge part in it as well as the quality of it.
Every main character and side character has its part which they play perfectly and logically while being pictured as real living/dead people.
Romance has not much of a part in it. It's more plot heavy tho you can read that some characters will walk that road definitely in the near future. And let me say it: Those interactions are damn cute and funny (and sassy).
Also the whole book is written really well and smooth. As well as the plot is going on a straight line and in a comfortable pace, neither too fast nor too slow.
I can't say it enough. I love this book. It's interesting, it's balanced well and the characters and interactions are chief's kiss.
It's that kind of book where I mutate to a monster of weird sounds and movements, that good it is.
And, the ends of every situations are damn satisfying.
This book gets all the stars! And I will read this story on Royal Road further.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
