The Wolf's Mouth

Rate this book
From the bestselling author of Dismal Trail and Old Dogs comes a sweeping new Western that blends action, heart, and unforgettable characters!

When Ginny's family is slaughtered and her two young sisters taken captive by a ruthless Comanche band led by the feared warrior Angry Wolf, she's left for dead on her family's bloodstained Texas farmstead. But fate intervenes when two strangers--Con, a determined young man, and Ezra, a weathered mountain man--find her barely clinging to life.

Together, they set out on a perilous pursuit deep into Mexico's Copper Canyon, where the Comanche have taken refuge in a remote stronghold known only as "the Wolf's Mouth." As the trail grows more treacherous and the stakes more personal, Ginny, Con, and Ezra must rely on courage, grit, and each other to survive the harsh landscape and the brutal men who rule it.

A gripping tale of survival, vengeance, and unexpected bonds, The Wolf's Mouth proves that even in the deepest canyon, hope can still take root.

A GREAT START TO WHAT'S NO DOUBT GOING TO BE ANOTHER AWARD WINNING SERIES BY RON SCHWAB

☆☆☆☆☆

The Wolf's Mouth by Ron Schwab is one of those true westerns that has all the aspects to make it a great novel and, hopefully, the start of what we be a great western series. Ron brings together a new cast of characters with the addition of existing characters that we have come to know in previous books bringing a new look into their character and relationships adding to the depth of not only the character but his book/books.

This book takes place in the Texas panhandle in the year of 1878 where a band of Comanches and Comancheros attack, rob, kill, and kidnap families. Ginny Harwood and her family are attacked leaving Ginny on the edge of death when she is found by Con and Ezra. Ginny's parents and little brother were brutally killed and Ginny's two younger sisters, Noreen and Krista were taken to be either sold off in Mexico or taken back to Angry Wolf's village.

The characters in this book are ones which are easily to relate to and are clearly brought to life on the pages. Con, Ezra, Rover, and Tige are determined to help Ginny rescue her sisters and the courage and backbone Ginny shows to retrieve her sisters make her not only a very strong-willed woman but also ranks her up with the rest of the men as true heroes.

This book has all it takes to make it a great book. It's full of action, suspense, romance, and humorous at times, just wait until you read what a "branding celebration" is. It's definitely going to go down as one of the great westerns written in our time competing with the classic westerns.

I really enjoyed this book and can't wait until the next book in this series comes out. I too hope you will enjoy reading this book as much as I have.

Quotes:
"It's so quiet, like we're viewing a painting made by God."

"There are a lot of good people in this world. The bad ones just stir up more than their share of misery, so it seems there are more of them sometimes."

"Please spare me your wisdom about women. I don't imagine either of you know much anyhow."

The Wolf’s Mouth

A thrilling, fun page turning story. From horrific tragedy to finding love and happiness beyond expectations. This is one of Ron Schwab’s best novels. I enjoyed it to the end which came far to soon for me.

Another Great Western

Writer Ron Schwab has sold me on Westerns. I love the sweeping saga feel of the stories, the beautiful settings, and the history of it all. The Wolf's Mouth is no exception. It's a really good story about a young woman, Ginny, surviving against the odds to stand up to terroristic outlaws who attacked her family. She is joined by Con Callaway who is trying to find his own way when their paths cross and he agrees to help her. The action is great. My only complaint is that many times long anticipayed events pass quickly in the writing, almost as if they are glossed over. The detail attention seems uneven in that way. This was a great weekend read though that I recommend highly.

Wolf's mouth took a bite from all who dared enter

Schwab created a story of terror and vengeance. Many suffered from the terror of Comanche who refused the reservation. A ragtag group of Texans decided they had enough of renegade Comanches who fled to Mexico rather a reservation. Problem was they took too many white children as slaves. Rescue came at a high price of lost friends and family.

Very enjoyable and full of adventure!

Funny how the inherited land worked out although we were left kind of hanging about that. The book ended before they got back and had a visit with the lawyer. I’d like to have read a little bit about the wedding and celebration to. Will there be another book to continue this story and include Anna and Rover? It would be only fair for this abruptly ended story.

Entertaining Action Western

Continuous action from the beginning with an exciting storyline and a number of well developed interesting characters and some romance come together in a beautifully told western action thriller.

There were many questions left unanswered, and I hope Ron will decide to follow these characters as the enter the next phase of their lives. I particularly want to know the backstory of the 500 acre ranch, and why Con's brother wants it.

The Wolf’s Mouth is a Great Read!

The Wolf’s Mouth is an action packed fun to read story that definitely doesn’t disappoint! The characters are interesting and add to the readers enjoyment throughout the book.

As the story progresses the action is non stop, full of fury, intrigue and romance. Mr. Schwab has done a great job writing this hard to put down Western and the reader reaps a reward by reading it!

Always a Pleasure

It’s always a pleasure to read one of Mr. Schwab’s novels. He is a mastercraft in writing Westerns. His characters come alive. His plots are always intriguing and engaging. While his scene settings are enough to get us through the story, I’m always left with wanting more (like a Knootz novel). No matter this is well worth your time and money.

Great story!

I absolutely 🖤 this story. The beginning part where Ginny was shot twice by arrows got me, but the appearance of Con and Ezra really got my attention. The story progression, and the added bonus of an Angry Wolf storyline was thrilling. The clincher was adding in Rover from Grit and updating information about Grit. I'm looking forward to the next time. Thank you.

Another exceptional story by Mr. Schwab!

Once again he has constructed a solid story with many turns and twists that is realistic, has strong well established characters, and more action than a tap dancer on a hot frying pan! Thank you Ron for going all out for the stories you give us.

The Wolf’s Mouth

Wow, another Western writer that I get to read and enjoy. Much like C.J.Petit, Louis L’Amour, Zane Grey, Max Brand, B.N. Rundell, Edward Burroughs are some of my favorites to mention, this is well thought out story that mentions many very real and existing places in the NM & TX areas

Hot from start to finish. Really appreciated the intensity and realistic impact of the book. The description of the landscape of the caverns. The schemes. The fights. The finale was quite good 👍

A good western tale. I found the dialogue stilted and formal, but the characters were drawn well, genuine, and easy to identify with. Lots of beautiful scenery. The Wolf's Mouth was a fascinating setting. And the plot is carefully structured and engaging. A good read.

more than fine

As one Nebraskan to another, “you write a damn fine book”. With all the characters lined up I’m disappointed that there wasn’t a sequel.
Nevertheless I’m a fan and will continue be reading all that you put print.
Thank you!
