This book is such a fun way to get littles outside exploring! My favorite is the millipede and I love that there is a log in the back for the reader to do their own exploring!
Yes, there is bias in my five-star rating. This book is a labor of love that began with my husband and ended with my daughter continuing on his legacy. (It doesn't hurt that I am mentioned in the dedication with a reminder not to squish spiders.) But it also deserves every star because it is all about imagination and encouraging little ones to explore and learn and be curious. Of course I think that this one should be in every house that ever has any young children within its walls or in its outback yard!
Who knew there was such a world of wonderful things in my own backyard?! With delightful illustrations and poems, Egbert leads us on a great adventure discovering the living things just outside our back door. Who wouldn't want to put on their hiking boots and backpack, and join in the quest of discovery. It's impossible to not fill up the pages in the back with my own discoveries and wonders. Don't wait to plan your next trek into the world of outdoors and see what is waiting just for you.
