His Choice

I hate Nico Barbieri, with all his smirks, his arrogance, and the way he gets under my skin.

He’s the youngest brother, a billionaire with a reputation to match, and the man I swore I’d never get tangled up with.
Then I wake up in Vegas to find him in my hotel shower—smug, gorgeous, and absolutely off‑limits; I never want to see him again.
But avoiding him is impossible. He’s my best friend’s brother-in-law. And suddenly he’s everywhere.
In Italy, the line between fiery exchanges and something hotter starts to blur. In London it shatters completely.
The enemy I couldn’t stand becomes the man who kisses me breathless, challenges me, saves me.
Nico shows me he’s more than flirty quips and a playboy reputation. He becomes the person I could lean on. The shoulder I could cry on. And the man I could fall for.
But just when we start to trust what’s growing between us, the weight of our family obligations hit hard, and we’re being ripped in opposite directions.
Nico is the distraction I absolutely don’t need. But also the one I can’t walk away from.
And now he has the chance to prove I’m not just another fling … or risk losing me for good.

His Choice is book two in the Barbieri Billionaires series. A full length steamy standalone Enemies to Lovers romance. Guaranteed HEA and no cheating.

Their sexual attraction is beautiful to watch unravel, the way their eyes always find the other in a room.
I adore the way they both battle to take control in every situation.
Nico’s character was fascinating, he is seen as this international playboy with no businessman qualities, yet he is the secret owner of his own tech company. This really adds to the storyline, loved the secrecy and the way he feels he needs to hide it from his family. Although he does do a great job at acting like a Playboy with his ability to turn up late for everything.

The way Nico is obsessed and borderline addicted to Rose is phenomenal. Watching these men have to chase instead of the women that usually falling at their feet is so very entertaining and Rose definitely gives him a run for his money.

Nico’s sauntering bedroom voice, his dirty talk is panty melting hot!
Rose wanted a spark, well with Nico she has a smokin hot flame, they had absolute explosive chemistry 🔥 The steamy scenes are detailed and spicy - loved every second 🫦
The way Rose mid passionate embrace partially undressed still needs to tell Nico “I just want you to know that I still hate you” - this had me grinning so much.

I adore the way you have intertwined the stories from the other brothers into this book, it makes me feel so much more invested.

The ending was perfect, the little snippets about Leo had me eager to read his book.
I have already preordered Leo and Hayley's story 'His Promise' - October2026 can’t come quick enough.

Ah the Barbieri Brothers. It’s so good to be back with them.

In this, the second book in the series, we are, with Nico the youngest brother. He’s arrogant, incredibly talented with creating his own tech company away from his families and also a player.

That is until one night in Vegas with Rose, his new Sister-In-Laws best friend. One night that changed everything.

Rose swore she wouldn’t get involved with Nico and Nico knows it wouldn’t be a good idea to get involved with Rose, especially as if anything went wrong he’d not only have Lucia to deal with but Antonio, his brother, as well.

But the push and pull they have towards each other is strong. They can’t deny that they both want each other. Seeing how they act towards each other and noticing their little side glances whenever they’re in the same room makes me smile.

Watching them grow closer due to some complications that arise within the brother’s family and to Lucia is really sweet. The more time they spend together the more the connection grows.

But can Rose trust it?? He is a playboy and a billionaire after all. Can Nico be the type of man to fall in love?

This enemies to lovers book will have you from the first page. The sexual tension is high and having all
The brothers there is both maddening (to Nico) and comforting (for us).

*****This book was given as an E-Arc by the author for my honest opinion ****

No choice when the connection is so strong

His Choice is book two of the Barbieri Billionaires series. I couldn’t put this book down. It had steamy scenes, love, mystery and great characters.

Nico Barbieri is the last born of the Barbieri brothers. As the last born his father sends him off to a different boarding school than his brothers after his mothers death. As the youngest he feels he has to be successful to be accepted by his family. He is quite successful but it’s never enough in his eyes. Nico also has a reputation as being a playboy in the media.

Rose is a friend of Nico’s brother’s, Anthony wife. At Anthony’s wedding Nico and Rose have an alcohol driven night and wake up together, starting the sexual attraction and the endless banter between them both. Rose is fighting the attraction as she thinks Nico is a player. Her sassy comments are a delight to read.
The book continues to explore the mystery behind Anthony’s attack in Florence. Nico’s computer expertise helps to find who was behind it making him feel essential to the family despite the fact that his family already saw him as important to them.
Rose sees all of Nico’s qualities and loves him for who he is. The give and take between Rose and Nico is such a delight to read.
Would definitely recommend this book.

Nico and Rose’s love story definitely rides the fine line between love and hate. His Choice is a steamy enemies-to-lovers story that includes character development, family dynamics, and travel to amazing locations as they explore their feelings and each other.
They try so hard to give off enemy vibes, but the strong physical connection draws them together. They felt more for each other than they were prepared to. The character growth gives depth to the story as the steamy tension and growing feelings lead to an ending that was perfect for Nico and Rose. Cate does an exceptional job of crafting plots that fit the characters.
I absolutely loved both Nico and Rose. He appreciated Rose’s independence and supported her when needed. His money was used to spoil her, not to rescue and take over. His insecurities made him relatable. I loved how one minute Rose could be a confident businesswoman and then serve food at an event for her family’s business. The steamy moments between them were fun because they would stir up so many emotions.
I was delighted to ARC His Choice. It was everything I knew it was going to be. It’s a great follow-up book to His Vow. This is my favorite Cate Lane series. I’m ready for the next Barbieri brother.

His Choice by Cate Lane is book 2 in the Barbieri Billionaires Series and is a duel POV, enemies to lovers, best friends brother in law, billionaire romance with plenty of spice!
There is a bit of a cross over from book 1 and while this is a standalone, I would recommend reading His Vow, first.

The story follows Nico and Rose. Nico is the youngest Barbieri, the one with the online reputation as a player who can’t commit, and he is not taken seriously by his father. With 3 older successful brothers he is always being compared to them and his father makes him feel like a failure and that he will never live up to the Barbieri family name. When Nico’s brother gets hitched in Vegas, he meets the brides best friend, Rose and their connection is instantaneous and deep. They’re attracted to each other but Rose is not the type of girl to get involved with a player and her defences go up.

The banter and flirtatiousness between these two is fun and entertaining, and their chemistry is hawwwwtttt! Rose is sassy, feisty, proud, loyal and loveable who you’d love to call a friend. While Nico is cheeky, confident, smart, sexy and sweet and your next book boyfriend.

Congrats Cate on another amazing story, you just keep getting better and better!

Oh you delicious Barbieri brothers. I missed you!

Cate has transported us to the English countryside this time to Roses family's stately home.

The chemistry was apparent from the very first second and try as she might, Rose just couldnt fight her attraction to the notorious ladies man who never took anything seriously in his life. Nico has played that role for so long that now he has found someone that he wants something real with, he has his work cut out convincing her that he isnt what he seems.

Rose makes him work for her!! I love a woman that knows what she is worth and refuses to settle for less.

The spice is perfection as we expect from Cate including a dalliance at our favourite exclusive club.

It was awesome to experience the aftermath drama of Ant & Lucia's wedding from another perspective as well.

So looking forward to poor Leo's turn at love. He has waited long enough!

His Choice - Steamy hate/love scenes

Rose first gets to experience Nico at her best friend (Lucia) wedding to his brother Antonio in Las Vegas! After waking up and discovering that he was in her room, showering, she barely recalled the evening before. Rose was definitely attracted to Nico but her need to wall up her defences made her response to him frosty, to say the least. Nico was equally attracted to Rose so flirting was in his DNA.
