First job is always special for everyone. It gives you financial freedom and wings to your dreams. But caught in the euphoria, many people tend to commit some mistakes which will land them in big trouble later on. This book is all about such mistakes and how to avoid them.

This book is a very short read of around 45 pages. This is not a fiction novel. Rather, it is a non-fiction book which lists out the most common mistakes people commit at their first job. The author has listed out 10 common mistakes people make and the ways in which they can be avoided. It is more like a guidebook to the youth who have just landed in their first jobs. Some suggestions in this book can be really helpful as they tell you what to do and also what not to do so that you don't repent later.

While some of them were relevant and realistic, few were less convincing. Like in the story about Loan for Loan where the author has cited example from his own life where he helped a friend overcome from the worst phase of financial instability. It would have been more convincing if the author had shared what was the solution he gave to his friends that helped him recover from such a huge mess.

While this was about one of the few things that seemed unconvincing, there are many good points in the book that is sure to help you. Planning your career path well in advance, keeping yourself up-to-date and many more such tips are bang on!

All in all, the book was a brisk read. While it does have many things which can help you learn, there are few things that needs fine tuning such as making the stories more convincing by giving necessary details when it is needed. Recommended for those who are taking up their first jobs.

Usually it is said that 1st job is every person's dream and one has to be very precise while taking financial decisions..! The author has aptly caught the right string and has studied human behaviour very nicely ...
An individual ( who so ever reads this novel ) will surely relate to these mistakes !!
One can pay heed to these mistakes and can rectify the same , by focusing more on these mistakes...

My verdict..

The author has given 10 wise theories and gritties of the corporate world.. emphasis have been laid on all the levels of management and these theories are made by keeping all the levels in mind..!
The author has used simple language and is easily understandable . If one is joining his/her new job , he/she can use the following theories at the work place and hence will be successful too..!

All in all , uttam kumar has done a brilliant debut with this amazing book and i m sure he will hons his skills in his subsequent efforts..

Review Time :- 1st Job and 10 mistakes By Uttam Kumar
First of all Congratulations for ur debut book this is something usefull and enlightening
To begin with, 1st job is every person's dream , it brings financial freedom and stability.. In this ever growing High tech world where its difficult to get good jobs now a days, its quite obvious that youth are tend to commit some mistakes while choosing their first job so this book will act as a guiding light for them..
Highlights of the book :-
:- A step in the right direction will always take u closer to your destination but a wrong turn can take u miles away
:- First job is the start of a journey, its not the destination, this journey will not only decide our future but also the future of our family .. It's a journey on an unknown road. So we have to keep ourselves updated if we are not prepared, an accident an occur anytime which may b fatal at times
:-Goals are the milestones in out journey...Life without goals is a journey in the wild, where one does not know how far the destination is and whether the direction is right or wrong..
Positives :-
:- This book is an "enlighten" read for all those youngsters who are planning to hit their 1st jobs
:- Language is simple and understandable... Loved ur writing style
:-Book is kept short but useful (like for example we are asked in boards to write 7-8 lines for 40 mark question where we have to cover every important point in our answer)
Negatives :-
-: As a person from commerce background i can understand these terms like Spear theory, equity market (though these terms are explained very well) still i feel a person from different academics background might look for a dictionary to check these words (for example if u ask me to read about chemical reactions or circuits i might sleep on the 1st page itself So to cut it short i felt this is for "particular-readers"...overall for me it was a usefull read..
P.S :-Chota Packet usefull Dhamaka.. All the best for ur upcoming works...

Well, the Book is too good to read. Actually its kind of manual to read before getting your first job. The Mistakes so mentioned were right to be avoided to get yourself on the righteous path.

Author has described the facts intelligently. The theories so mentioned were to the point.

ESS Theory exactly explains about the path we have to follow during our first job.

Credit Cards are really not the extra Income but are advanced salary that has to be spend with care and consciousness.

The advice/suggestion for writing down the Goals is also the very well described way to achieve them. Uttam's idea in form of this book will help to sustain your finances either being a fresher or an experienced one.

In nutshell, I liked the book to its fullest. Author did a great job to explains the mere facts that are very important to know for everyone from all aspects of their Job.

Enjoyed it myself! And advised to go for reading it to avoid any flaws in your jobs, either in the short term run or in the long term run.

Grab it! Its the bundle of self-help Leaflets.

I would rate it 3.5/5.0 as a whole.

‘First job and 10 mistakes’ by Uttam Kumar is a handy and a practical guide for working salaried class. This book is brief and precise and good manual for those in their first jobs. Interesting takes on ESS, SpEaR etc. Having said that the book was too brief…

Thank you to the author and Goodreads for this Giveaway!

''1st Job and 10 Mistakes'' by Uttam Kumar is a guide book for people who are to get their first job and tips on how to make a judicious use of first salary.  The author has discussed about ten very common mistakes that we usually commit in the beginning of professional life. Those are Loan for Loan; here author has shared an example from his real life encounter with a friend, who took loan after loans to pay previous one and how he was held up with six loans from six different banks. I wanted to know what solution the author suggested him that helped him get out of the situation  in 24 months. First Get First Join, talks on a very relevant ground. It's quite common to see people working in a field different from their qualification. The job offer might seem good but it proves to be a deal of loss in a long run.Stop Learning; with the first job in hand one becomes reluctant to learn new things. The author has suggested to keep ourselves updated with new technology and to read at least two magazines related to your respective field. You can't sit being dependent on your destiny solely. Goal Planning; our parents and teachers keep telling us about the importance of goal planning. Without goals we are simply a wanderer. Goals give us the reference points which show whether we are on the right path with right speed or if we need to take corrective measures. The books also talks about Equity Market, SpEaR theory (Spend, Earn and Repay), Credit cards, Launch paid, No goals and tracking.

The author's approach was quite nice to guide the youngsters but I felt he couldn't do justice to his book. At many places he has discussed about the problems he encountered in his case or the others' but he hasn't shared the complete details which makes it less convincing. Also, I felt the book cover is comic-like rather than a sophisticated one. I hope the author works well one his weak points and come up with something better for the readers with his upcoming books.

1st job and 10 mistakes
-By Uttam Kumar

About the book:

First Job-Dream of every youngster (almost) brings to us not only the freedom in terms of our finances but also provokes us in making some common mistakes. This book is a self-help detailing 10 such common mistakes every new comer in the corporate world tends to make. Understanding human nature in an exceptional manner, Uttam’s writing will connect you to the book even if you are on your first job or having years of experience in the job sector.

Positives:

All the points are up-to-the mark and the theories mentioned in this book will relate to each and every new comer in the job sphere.

Some of the best parts about the book are:

· SpEaR and ESS theory

· Goal sheets – They will actually inspire you to sit and plan.

· Short and sweet- Each and every chapter is precisely explained in simple words.

Shortcomings:

Book cover could have been made much better as it is nowhere related to the content present in the book. Besides this, addition of more examples to explain each and every theory could have been done to make points clear.

----------- ------------- ------------
Written after a deep analysis of young-minds, this will surely inspire you to sit, think, analyze and plan your expenses. One should definite grab a copy of the book and have this quick read.

Review:
This book can be said to be a handy financial guide. Author has summed up the lessons in an interesting manner by projecting them as mistakes done by most of us regarding career. Author's efforts are visible as he has listed the preachings and lessons as truthfully as possible. SpEaR theory, First get First Join, Launch Pad, Stop Learning and Career Planning are the few chapters which I found helpful.
Overall I liked the book but few things could be eliminated or could be improved, this leads me to the next section..

Positive Punches:
• You can actually learn from this book and can practically apply it in your life.
• Could be read in an hour, its just 46 pages!

Negative Nudge:
• Cannot interest all kind of readers. Only ones who are keen to know and develop about these ten mistakes, will pick this book.
• Book cover is not describing the theme of book. Cannot attract readers.

All in all, 1st job ten mistakes can be read once and can be looked up to for any financial and career guidance!

3/5 (could be read once)

Dad Talks .......

Flipped the first page and realised that the the lessons are narrated in First Form & author is talking as Dad in India do about handling finances which I found quite good ( As a kid Of-course quite but Thinking with Dad's point of view ,too good )
So 1st Job & Ten Mistakes is a short 46 page Self- Help book which holds some very very important lessons that one should need to remember while pursuing his/her first job . Applause for author for putting all the ideas together in one book that ensures best possible ways to workout on Finances . As the name suggest , Author highlighted the 10 situations arise or we let them arise while pursuing Ist job . First Job is every person's dream job which bring financial freedom to the person but being hot blood generation we expand more than we earn or take the money on grant or take job on grant , thinks about fulfilling needs of present forgetting to save for future . Author has also highlighted how one fall in the trap of EMIs & Loans , How credit card also turns out to be devil if not used well .
So in short its a must read especially for Newbies , who are schedule to fill up in a company as their Ist Job . Actually all these lessons are given to me by my dad on regular intervals since 2nd Year of college so I'll call it " Dad-Talks Book "

Some of you might think, what is a need of having such a book? I suggest that these days, usually youngsters do not welcome advice from parents and elders with respect to the expenditures and listening to a friend is harm! He attempts to alert you on danger points and actions with such a ease that you will enjoy grasping the essence of the chapters and identify the mistakes with no extra burden on brain cells.

He is a mathematician and hence a magician of numbers. He presents you with a handy self-help guidance which will motivate you to plan and spend in a wiser but not a miser manner. I understand that every individual has his personal dreams and aspirations related to expenditure as well but there seems no harm in having an understanding beforehand. It will help you in strategizing the financials with a professional touch.

He had structured the book in a ten-chapter format wherein every chapter analyzes the mistake scenario and suggests the actionable with the help of charts and tables. A few might think that these features are not necessary but make the planning confusing. In that case, you can just go through the headers suggested and calibrate your expenses in order to ensure that no head is left unattended.

A quick and brief read. You can read it just like a small user manual before joining your first job.
Even though the fresher stage is a few years ago for me, I can relate all the aspects the author mentioned.
I can relate similar mistakes everywhere in the corporate industry I'm working In.
I agree to all the points, but things are not as easy as the book says. As they say, IDEAL is not real and cannot be achieved. I agree money related mistakes you can rectify to some extend. But career related, especially as a fresher is not in your hand; I can say that pretty LOUD.

A good debut by the author. The book justifies its title

* I have received the book as part of first reads giveaway in goodreads*
**The book I received is having a different cover page than shown here. A little disappointment in that coz I liked this one very much...no worries.after all the content is all that matters ;-)

First Job, Credit Cards, Loans,Equity, Installments, Rent, Expenses, etc. etc.

Yeah, our life revolves around these now-a-days, and we try to do anything and everything to keep this as simple as possible. Your first job and you're more than excited to get that salary in your hands but what we actually do is: SPEAR, each and everyone of us do this mistake.

You want to know what SPEAR is? Get this book because it'll save you big time man! I loved this book and I really wish I could have gotten my hands on it like 4 years back and my life would have been much less chaotic.

Do not make silly mistakes which we don't even recognize, but we all do, so save yourself some trouble and get this book as soon as possible. And mind you, you cannot borrow this book from others because everyone needs it so go get your own and make your life a little less grumpy and a lot more smooth with 1st Job and 10 mistakes by Uttam Kumar.

Interesting title to start with. After reading the name, I didn’t know what to expect from the book. The best part in the book was, SpEaR and ESS theory. This book has been written after doing the proper study on the particular topics and hence I’m sure this book is going to do well in market. while reading this book you’ll surely feel like planning things and applying those plans in your life.

I recommend this book to you if you want to read something useful and inspiring. A great book to travel with. I’m sure it will help you to juggle your mind and its thoughts.

My Opinion:

I would like to Congratulate Uttam Sir for this awesome book. This book is a manual- Do’s and Dont’s at your first job.

Every chapter gives the reader an advice- an advice for lifetime, and advice which, if followed, will help you curb all the difficulties you face. It will be wrong if I say that these advices must be followed only by the ones who are working for the first time cause these are lessons for lifetime.

Financial crises arrive without any prior notice. These advices, if followed, right from day 1 of your job, will not make you feel scared or make you panic at the situation.

This book is a must for all working people!

I rate:
Cover: 3.5/5.

This book deserves a 5/5 rating!

'1st job and 10 mistakes' a book by author Uttam Kumar is a proper guidance book for a person who's just about to take his 1st job or is in a situation similar. The author has briefly explained all the major mistakes we somehow unknowingly end up doing in our life at some stage. At various instances during reading I literally did pause and recalled incidences I heard about my relatives or some other people in the society that have winded up doing these mistakes. The author has very smartly gone through all these major points that I couldn't help but enjoy the overall read! And I did made my friends and family read this book too!

p.s. I recieved this book in a Goodreads First reads Giveaway! Thank you for an mind opening read! It was really knowledgeable!

'1st Job and Ten Mistakes', a very small handbook, though targets the new entrants into jobs, has its core value for anyone searching for investment or insurance. But a young fellow with a new job and a flashy credit card could commit cardinal mistakes. This book offers a few home truths and some equally useful/handy tips in making financial choices of investment, loans, insurance etc. Like:
Never invest in equity market unless you have money to lose.p.7
Go for online term plan as it is economical and transparent. p.6
And so forth.
I got it by way of a giveaway.

About the book - As the title suggests its a self help book and aptly written.
Review- Being a beginner myself I was eager to read this book and the moment I started reading it, it took me hardly an hour to complete it. The book guided me and honestly saved me from taking few brutal decisions.
I even got a lot of answers for my unanswered questions.
Personally I enjoyed the book with just one flaw towards the end which was a typing error I guess. Else this book should be part of every 1st timers' shelf. :)
