*A Highland Bride Taken is a steamy Scottish Medieval Historical romance novel of 80,000 words (around 400 pages) written by Maddie MacKenna and published by Cobalt Fairy.
No cheating, no cliffhangers, lots of steam and a happy ending.
What a wonderful story. Mabel wanted to take care of her two godsons. He carried a lot of guilt from his past. Her good heart finally got his heart to blossom into love. The boys were so sweet. It's a lovely journey you don't want to miss.
There are some humorous moments in this book but it offers so much more. There are a few surprises and an unexpected confession near the end. It's definitely worth reading.
I like the start to this series. Not so overwhelming but definitely worth read. I just love historical romances and life they lead and love. Will definitely be reading the rest of this series.
Mabel was the middle daughter of Laird MacLennon. She was lovely and shy, with an overbearing mother and an attention seeking younger sister. Layla was her maid and her dear friend, so when Layla fell in love with Aiden, Mabel secretly helped them elope. They corresponded and when Layla gave birth to twin boys, she named Mabel as their godmother. Fast forward and Mabel heard about the carriage accident that killed Aiden and Layla. The boys survived and were living with their Uncle Campbell, Laird of Clan Muir, who had a fierce reputation and was known as the ‘Beastly Laird’. She snuck out and went to his castle intent on caring for her godsons. It was decided that they would marry and she would be in charge of the two five year olds, who clearly adored her. As the story continues, we learn of childhood horrors and an evil grandfather. This is a story filled with strong emotion, lots of tears and gulit-driven actions. There is a sizzling attraction between Mabel and Campbell, only partially quenched by hot kisses and one-sided steamy encounters. Magnus provides some levity as the count-on-able man-at-arms. You will discover several twists and multiple surprises as you grit your teeth and hold your breath following Mabel and Campbell on their journey to their happy ending.
Mabel helps her maid run away with her love not knowing he was upper class and that starts what happens in this story. Laird Muir finds a young woman in his castle and thinks she is there to be a governess for his nephews. She isn’t but then they decide to marry so she could take care of the boys. That’s one of the reasons they are together and more things happen to make life hard for them.
Campbell and Mabel are thrown together under extreme circumstances…. Campbell having been the victim of a despicable grandfathers manipulations has strived all his life to be hard and invincible. Mabel has always been rebellious and would throw caution to the wind….two small boys will bring them together for a united cause. Will they meet the challenges? Enjoyable book and I highly recommend it!
Laird Campbell was determined to raise his nephews on his own that is until their godmother arrived. She also wants to raise the boys and agrees to marry the Laird who only wants it in name only until sparks arise and their path takes a different direction. This heartfelt story had me connecting with these charming characters and cheering them on to happiness.

This was an amazing story. So much love and deceit. It had me on the edge of my seat and I lost a night with no sleep because I could not stop reading.
A page turning book with so many twists and turns.
Maddie has written a Highland story that will keep you up all night reading. Mable is dedicated to those she loves and will not stop until she has what she wants. Don't miss this awesomely written story of romance in the Highland.
The daddy in the title is like, single dad to his nephew. Slooow burn, they barely kiss a time or 2 and then wheb they do the do it takes up like a single page (that's how nondescriptive it is) .
Good read on family, sacrifice, and romance that's sure to leave you breathless. Loved the chemistry between Mabel and Campbell, the twins were cute, lots of action totally hated the cruel grandfather. Looking forward to reading the next book.
The story is believable and strong and well executed! The characters are also believable and most engaging. Although slightly sluggish toward the end, it still moves along pleasantly.
This book is a true love story. I enjoyed every minute of it. If you choose to read it you are treating yourself to something truly special. If you choose to pass it by you are punishing yourself. Two thumbs up 👍👍
