Jane Austen and tea. What more could one ask for? Enjoy two tea parties, two romances and two characters from one of the world’s most beloved authors. In this historical romance short story duet gossip-loving Mrs Jennings meddles in affairs of the heart, and scandalous Henry Crawford turns heads once again! Be swept away by the amusements of the Regency tea party in these Austen-inspired short stories. Delight in the sweet romance, dancing, gossip and, of course, tea. “But indeed I would rather have nothing but tea.” ― Jane Austen, Mansfield Park
Bianca White writes spicy historical, fantasy and contemporary romance.
Bianca loves history and has a degree in history and history of art. The word “research” is often used as an excuse to drag members of her family around every stately home and castle wherever they go. Nothing, not even the grumbling of said family, will keep her away from a historical fashion exhibition.
When she’s not writing, Bianca feeds her addiction to romance novels. She also likes baking and watching movies. Thanks to her enjoyment of baking (and eating), she feels the need to balance it with a little activity and enjoys tai chi, aerobics and swimming.
Bianca lives in West Yorkshire, in the north of England, with her husband and two children.
This short, two-story duet contains the best sorts of meddlesome! In one we have a poverty stricken MMC, botched proposal, and heartsick but proud FMC. In the other we get wedding jitters, a fine chase, and childhood friends-to-lovers. I thoroughly enjoyed these two Austen-inspired tales which packed more emotional punch than expected based on the book blurb. These are not just about tea! Recommend to Austen fans but also lovers of historical romance. White’s writing is tight, polished, and true to period. Looking forward to more from this author.
I enjoyed both storylines to these short, Jane Austen inspired, stories. Jilted and Wooing Miss Woolforde.
They were both descriptive and very well written. I was captivated an engaged throughout each story right from the start wanting to know what would happen and how they were to end.
It is obvious how well the history and fashion of these times were researched by Bianca.
They both included beautiful tea parties, gorgeous dances, gossip, second chances and of course love.
As I was reading, I got to know each of the characters in the stories.
I particularly liked Mrs Jennings, the matchmaker, in Jilted. She was very persistent and added a touch of humour to the story. Especially at the end which made me laugh.
I loved Sophie in Wooing Miss Woolforde. She has a strong personality, wants a meaningful life, to be able to help others, to collect and look after stray animals and to be seen by everyone. I liked the quote Sophie used when describing at one stage how she felt.” Her mind had become a tangled knot like an unwound ball of wool.”
I highly recommend reading this wonderful book. Thank you, Bianca White, for allowing me to read this ARC of Tea for Two. I thoroughly enjoyed this and give it five stars. Looking forward to her next book.
A duet is a perfect description for this pair of short stories. They worked in tandem, neither outshining the other. You may think that due to their length they would be cozy, light reads, but both Jilted and Wooing Miss Woodforde quickly had me deep in my emotions. What I found most impressive was that Bianca White did not repeat any part of her successful formula or tricks. Each one had a different feel and distinct approach.
She planted me right in the middle of the most pivotal moment of each couple’s love story. The backstories were believable and I was immediately invested in all four main characters’ happiness. I needed to know more about their choices and was curious how their relationship would evolve. I was even attached to some of the side characters, which is quite an accomplishment with so few pages. (A meddling old lady will always be a favorite of mine.)
I highly recommend these for a quick read during your lunch break, a trip (taking any road trips over the holidays?), or any spare moment where you want the flutters of a romance when you’re short on time.
Thank you to the author for an ARC copy. This is my honest review.
A duet set in the Sense and Sensibility world, with a heartfelt “I will never let you go” moment and a short rags-to-riches tale. A quick, enjoyable read from a writer with great promise. I actually meant to stop after the first story and read the next the day after, but I was so immersed that my fingers flipped to the next page and my eyes kept reading.
I loved how well the descriptions were done. Even though these were short stories, I felt immersed in the world. I would've liked more development of the romance, of course, but that’s the trade-off with short stories.
Perfect pallet cleanser after reading some intense historical romances.
After I got the kids off to school I curled up on the couch and had a little me-time. I read both short stories in one sitting. These two sweet, cozy tales, inspired by Jane Austen's world, made for a lovely little read.
Jasper, a reformed rake, in the second story was such a fun MMC. I adore yearning and he had been pining for Sophie for years. *swoon*
I received a free ARC copy for my honest review. My thoughts and opinions are my own.
