Lily One would think a nomadic life would be peaceful drifting from place to place, hiking scenic trails across the western U.S. But no matter how far I go, I can’t outrun the event that drove me from my hometown in Mississippi.
Now, in Pinebrook, California, tucked just outside Yosemite National Park, I cling to the hope that fresh air and distance might finally quiet the monstrous narrative in my mind.
Content to keep to myself, I take a temporary job with a plan to disappear in six months—no attachments. Then a freak accident puts me on his radar. Noah Sullivan is too kind. Too observant. And far too interested in my current living conditions.
What he offers is insane, but he might be the only thing standing between me and the nightmare I thought I’d left behind.
Noah I’ve lived in Pinebrook most of my life—working for the National Park Service and living with my canine partner in a cabin deep in Yosemite. It’s quiet. Predictable.
But my mother is dying. She’s deteriorating quickly, refuses help, and the guilt of not being able to save her the way I want to—the way I should—gnaws at me.
There isn’t much that can distract me from the routine I’ve built around keeping it all together. Until Lily Parker. She’s rude, sarcastic, and the exact opposite of the type of person I’d normally let into my life, let alone fall for. But she’s hurting, homeless, and I can’t walk away.
I know what it costs to make the wrong call. I made that mistake once before, back when I was young, and now I’m paying for it.
I’ll break my rules for her. But walking away from her? That might destroy me.
Give Her Time is a slow burn, contemporary romance novel with a fade-to-black/low spice romance. While this can be enjoyed as a standalone, reading Debt of My Soul beforehand can enhance your reading experience. Please see the author’s website for TW/CW.
K.P. Haven is an avid romance reader who writes the gritty, fade-to-black romances she wants to read. She lives in a small, southern town with her husband and three children and enjoys slow mornings, reading, and mint chocolate chip ice cream.
Oh the feels this book brings! I giggled, I cried, I bit my nails. I was a little nervous to read this when the author said it was an emotional read, but I’m so glad I did! I loved how drawn the rule following golden retriever was to the free spirited black cat FMC. And how they were both there for each other in really hard times like grief and a sta!ker ex. This is a really sweet slow burn romance that starts out reluctant and melts over time. Resistant to closeness mixed with forced proximity and an unavoidable pull to each other. And when that slow burn starts burning, boy does it burn!! Oh, and the caretaking! All the super sweet and swoony caretaking. This gave me some of feels that I loved from Safe Haven which I absolutely enjoyed. It was a wild emotional ride and I did end up sobbing while I was waiting in line to pick my kids up from school. Totally worth the pain though!! The slow burn really starts burning in the midst of the hard times and you get an earned HEA.

My goodness, what a story! If you're looking for a lighthearted romance... well, this one isn't it. Lily and Noah's happily ever after is hard fought, taking us through an absolute emotional wringer before we get there... but making it all the more beautiful when we do. I don't want to give too much away, but this one is heartbreaking and gritty with imperfect characters and just the right amount of suspense. At some points that made it really difficult to read, but there was also a sense of healing and growth through all that as well. The chemistry between Lily and Noah was undeniable and I absolutely loved the vulnerability between these two as well. They held me from start to finish, and I know it is going to be a story that will stick with me for a very long time after too. Definitely a top read for me!
Give Her Time is a fade-to-black romance with steamy build up (clothes coming off, etc.). While no explicit details are given, it is clear what is happening off the pages. There is also some moderate language throughout. This story does deal with topics that could be potentially triggering for some readers to include . See the author's note for the full list. While this is a standalone, it is connected to Debt of My Soul, and I do think those who have read that previous book will get the most appreciation for finding out Lily's story.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
This book consumed me! There were a lot of heavier topics in this story, all of which were dealt with in such a delicate and realistic manner. Life is messy, as depicted through these characters. I loved how Lily coped with her trauma through writing. Her resilience was a type of strength I enjoy reading in FMCs. Her growth and healing throughout the story was wonderfully depicted. Noah was such a sweetie! Even though he came across as a goodie-two-shoes, he had a checkered past, which added some depth to his character. I loved their slow burn romance and how they fought hard for one another. Read the content warnings before giving this a go, and if you’re comfortable with the content, I highly recommend it.
Lily is such a complex character. She has endured so much trauma that her abrasive nature became her armor, and her loneliness, her cloak. She keeps everyone at a distance and is constantly on the move. Her story is heartbreaking but also woven with hope, healing, and love.
Noah is the ultimate steady, good guy. As a park ranger, he naturally has a protective streak. He’s deeply intrigued by Lily and consistently shows up for her, proving time and again that she’s worth the effort.
Their relationship is a definite slow burn. Lily absolutely did not like him for the first 40% of the book. It takes persistent effort from Noah and a few circumstances beyond their control for her to finally give him a chance. Their love story is full of hope, forgiveness, trust, and growth. The way it unfolded was messy, yet undeniably beautiful.
A few more things deserve mention: Max, the canine sidekick, whose sweet moments added heart to each scene, and Noah’s mom, Kate, a secondary character who brought depth to the story, with her wit and humor.
This story is heartbreaking, raw, and real. Some moments were difficult to get through, but the storytelling was beautiful. It made me laugh, scream, and cry.
Thank you to author K.P. Haven for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.
CW: • Past sexual assault (referenced throughout as part of the FMC’s history) • On-page violence, injury, and death; includes gun and drug use • Death of a parent due to cancer (partially depicted on-page, this was the moment that broke me)
I would first like it to be known that I have been a KP Haven reader long before I received this ARC. That being said, that is the reason I signed up to get it in advance because I was SO Excited to read anything new she had written!
Okay, now the review. Give her time is written in the two perspectives of Lily and Noah. Lily is a character mentioned in DOMS which made me love this book even more. I loved DOMS and really enjoyed getting to see some of the characters again. Lily is so spunky in this book and I love all of the poetry that she writes in the book. It flows so smoothly in the chapters and give such an insight into her mental state. The chemistry between Lily and Noah was so beautifully done. It showed what actual attraction is like and the difficulty of navigating trauma in a relationship. That being said, if you try to totally avoid any spice content at all, this book has a little bit more innuendo than some fade to black romances I have read. It is not over the top but keep that in mind if you like it to be super super closed door because it is not. It is labeled as a steamy fade to black for a reason. There is so much more I can say about this book, but I'll leave it at this. I absolutely loved Max (the adorable malinois ) and Rose (ie. Super Spunky Mother) and it's definitely worth the read!
Give Her Time has been one of my most anticipated reads this year and it did not disappoint. KP Haven’s books are an automatic read and every one of her books has been amazing. She somehow has the ability to craft emotional and compelling stories with flawed but lovable characters in books that you cannot put down. I am always craving more as soon as I finish the book!
Give Her Time delves into Lily’s journey, the sister of Liam in Debt of Her Soul! If you’ve read Debt of Her Soul, you know that Lily has left her small town and embarked on hiking trips across the states. Unbeknownst to everyone, she’s haunted by tragedy while living in her hometown and is desperately trying to escape. Her journey leads her to Yosemite National Park, where she encounters the national park ranger, Noah, and his adorable dog, Max.
Lily, an incredible female protagonist, embodies strength, courage, and a touch of grumpiness due to her past. It’s refreshing to witness her embrace her grumpiness towards everyone. With newfound courage, she opens up to Noah, who provides her with the support and protection she desperately needs. Over time, we witness her softening towards him, showcasing her remarkable growth as she shares her experiences and embarks on her journey of recovery. The author’s meticulous care and class in crafting Lily’s journey for peace and happiness are truly inspiring. I also appreciated that she expressed her emotions through her poetry and we got to read it!
Noah is simply the epitome of an ideal male character. He’s strong, sweet, protective, caring, and has the cutest dog. He’s also going through his own struggles as his mother battles cancer, but he always puts everyone else first. Their relationship is heartwarming and emotionally charged, and the way it unfolds is truly captivating. Noah and Lily are perfectly flawed for each other, and their growth together is evident. Their souls are intertwined in a profound way.
This book is an absolute game changer that everyone needs to read. I was already impressed with Debt of Her Soul, but this author truly exceeds my expectations. The plot is exceptional and meticulously detailed, with realistic main characters who face life’s challenges and emotions head-on. The communication between them is open and positive, and there’s a suspenseful subplot that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end. Additionally, there are connections to Debt of Her Soul that I didn’t realize until the end, adding depth and intrigue to the story. And let’s not forget the adorable pup who deserves to be the star of the book!
I’m incredibly grateful that KP Haven provided me with the opportunity to read this early as an ARC. I’ll definitely be rereading it soon!
For Lily, Noah, Max, Ms. Sullivan, and all the emotions you made us feel. 🧡
Released: 9th October Rating: 4.25 ✨️
This book had me from the very beginning. ♥️
Lily Parker ran away from her hometown six years ago and has been living this completely nomadic, no- attachments kind of life ever since. Six months here, six months there - new place, temporary job, just enough to get by. She's guarded, abrasive, sarcastic, and hates attention - basically, she's built walls higher than Yosemite's cliffs. Then one day while hiking a trail, she meets Noah Sullivan - a National Park ranger (and literal sunshine wrapped in a uniform) - and that's where her carefully planned solitude starts to fall apart, piece by piece. Because where Lily is all sarcasm and sharp edges, Noah is pure calm, patience, and kindness. It's such a perfect reverse grumpy x sunshine dynamic. And honestly it worked so well.
Lily being mean or passive-aggressive? He doesn’t take it personally. He never snaps or gets annoyed. He just smiles, listens, and somehow sees through her defenses. I felt so bad for him at times because she really tried to push him away, but he stayed gentle and steady — quietly drawn to her from the very start. The slow burn between them? Absolute perfection.
Honestly, I loved how naturally their relationship evolved.
And oh my heart, Max — Noah’s working dog 🐶 Protective, smart, and so attentive. I can’t believe I’m even writing this much about a dog, but Max truly added so much to the story. From Lily saying she doesn’t do dogs to actually loving him — it was such a sweet, subtle shift. He was the perfect companion for both Noah and Lily.
And then there’s Ms. Sullivan....Noah’s mom, who completely stole the show. Witty, grumpy, no-nonsense, and full of sass. Honestly, she and Lily were two sides of the same coin. Their banter? Gold. The way Lily bribed her to take her meds or eat food — turning it into bets because Ms. Sullivan never loses...I loved every bit of it. And that letter at the end? Yeah, that got me so emotional 😭🫶
Having read Debt of My Soul by the same author, I can honestly say I loved this book even more. The writing, the emotions, the chemistry.... intense, light, raw — all at once.
Give Her Time is a heartfelt, slow-burn, low-spice romance that balances lighthearted charm with moments of emotional depth. The journey of Lily and Noah is beautifully written and genuinely moving. Their struggles feel authentic, and the way their relationship grows rooted in patience, trust, and quiet understanding tugged at my heart. At times, I found myself tearing up, especially seeing how Noah provided the steady support Lily needed to heal.
What I loved most is how the book blends hope with hardship, showing that love can be a safe space rather than a whirlwind. Lily’s guardedness and pain were written with such care, while Noah’s quiet strength and compassion made me fall for him as much as Lily did. Their story reminds us that sometimes the bravest thing we can do is let someone in.
Lily is a drifter running from the trauma of her past. Settling temporarily in Pinebrook, California, she plans to keep her distance until a chance encounter puts her on Noah’s radar. Noah lives a quiet life in Yosemite, burdened by his mother’s illness. He isn’t looking for complications, but Lily’s pain and resilience draw him in. Together, they find that healing takes time… and sometimes love is the bravest risk of all.
If you like tropes of Age gap, slowburn, found family, opposite attracts, suspense elements and low spice, this book is for you.
K.P. Haven has yet to write a book that doesn’t leave me consumed by my own feelings. I was absolutely blown away by the raw, emotional storyline that followed both Lily and Noah.
It goes without saying that Noah’s mother was such an impactful character. Her struggle with cancer was obviously a huge part of Noah’s story, but I loved that she was much more than that for Lily. She was the relationship Lily needed to reach back out to her family in Ruin. The moment she died was so peaceful. I wish the healing process for Noah could have been just as peaceful.
I was honestly disappointed that Noah never realized that Lily was living out of her car again after his mother passed. It was a moment, for me, that made me view Noah & Lily’s relationship less like a couple actually in love and more of a lustful situation. I have no doubt in the last couple chapters & epilogue it had grown to that, but their first “I love you” felt rushed to me. Nevertheless, it all had a realistic feel to it that still lent to the enjoyment of the story.
A word of caution to my no spice friends, this is a fade-to-black novel which means there is a fair amount of descriptions leading up to *the act* before it cuts the scene.
You can find this book on Kindle Unlimited!! It is best enjoyed after reading Debt of My Soul. 🩷

Every time I pick up a K.P. Haven book, I somehow end up loving her writing even more than the last, and Give Her Time completely stole my heart.
This story had me giggling, crying, gasping, and clutching my chest in the best way. The way Haven slowly introduces seemingly small details, only for them to become incredibly important later, adds such beautiful depth to the story and makes every moment feel intentional.
Lily and Noah are absolute opposites in every possible way, yet fate (and some unfortunate circumstances) pushes them into each other’s orbit. As the story builds, so does the tension, and you feel it not only in their banter but in every quiet, aching moment in between. Their connection is slow, emotional, messy, and so real.
The plot twists kept me fully invested, and the emotional payoff was so worth it. What I loved most is the reminder that no one is too broken for love, that even with all the “damages” someone might carry, if you give them time, they’ll show you just how perfectly they fit.
If you love heartfelt slow-burns, emotional depth, and characters that stay with you long after the final page… this one belongs on your TBR. 🤍✨

This novel would make a great movie. K.P. Haven did it again! She's an amazing storyteller who weaves words together in a magical way that brings the story to life. I can easily imagine each scene, see the colours, smell everything, almost taste the food, and feel the intense emotions of the characters. I didn't want this book to end, but I couldn't stop reading. It was full of surprises, moments of beauty, laughter, love, pain and loss, suspense, and heart-pounding scenes.
Give Her Time was an emotionally gripping, slow burn fade-to-black romance with steam. I was given the opportunity to read an ARC of this novel, and I was so excited because I knew that K.P. Haven does not disappoint. She is one of the few authors I'll blindly trust to toss me into heartbreaking situations that draw out all my emotions because I know the journey will be worth it. This is the third book I've read and it's another 5 star.
The characters were realistic. I loved Lily, Noah and his mom who were relateable. Noah's K-9 partner, Max is another favourite and no need to worry, the dog doesn't die. I was so satisfied with the Epilogue, especially after finishing Debt of My Soul a few days earlier. I teared up in happiness because it was a very fitting conclusion that highlighted Lily's healing journey. 10/10 I recommend Give Her Time.
I love this book so much! I was in the exact right mood when I read it, and it hit me in all the feels. We have an FMC who has trauma AND a beautiful positive character arc. She is pretty off-putting in the beginning, but she grows. I don't like a b*tchy FMC who is still that way by the end of the story. But I never let it put me off at the beginning of a book, bc I LOVE to see a character arc make the arc. 🤩 We have a sweet MMC who has deep struggles and is not perfect. He is three-dimensional and has his own heart-wrenching character arc. 🥹 The setting is basically also a character and is lovely (Yosemite area). It made me want to go back there ASAP. 😭 There is also a solid subplot to go along with the main romance plot. The story hits hard with some deep themes like healing from abuse, rebuilding relationships that were damaged in the wake of trauma; and admitting chronic failings to a trusted person. AND it still manages to have plenty of lovely and cozy scenes that we like to see in romance novels. This has fade-to-black spice, which is very well done. I can't wait to read more of K.P's books. This one will be a fall reread for me in the future!

“I won’t ever just take from you, I will always give you what you need.”

KP Haven is an amazing writer and hasn’t disappointed me yet! She brings the emotion and suspense sucking you into the story you into the story and feeling their experiences and emotions. Just feeling everything. Always leaving you craving more. Lily’s journey is beautiful she has growth, and strength trying to escape her past she leaves her home town embarking on a hike in the Yosemite national Park, that’s where we meet Noah and his dog 😍 Max. Seeing her open up to him 💕
Noah is just the sweetest he’s protective, strong and caring. I absolutely love his dog max. To see him struggling with his own issues, his mother fighting her terminal illness and he still puts everyone’s needs first. Always positive. The suspense and plot kept me hooked and I was on the edge of my seat. The challenges they face, developing a strong connection was beautiful and heartbreaking. I’m wrecked! I absolutely love HP Havens writing and can’t wait for more
Lily & Noah (and Max) ❤️ Loved their relationship development and Lily’s banter with Rose 🥹 This book is different to the author’s usual stories in the sense that it is character driven. Which isn’t bad but definitely a change to what I’m used to from her. I was engaged in the story, watching Lily and Noah connect and blossom. I was definitely satisfied in knowing that I realised a connection within Debt of My Soul when a certain characters tattoo was described. I would have liked a bit more insight into why Lily’s abuser was so delusional and obsessed with her. I would have also liked to see greater depth around reconciliation with family members. Overall a story with depth, complexity and difficult topics explored with a happy ending. Lily and Noah needed one another and I’m glad they overcame in order to love one another.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me as I liked it but didn’t fall in love with it. Nothing to do with the writing just wasn’t a book that would make it into my collection for a reread but I would recommend it to be read! A story of overcoming pain & trauma towards hope and trust!

My Review:
Wow, this book absolutely consumed me right from the first page. If you're looking for sweet easy romance this book is not that! Give her time absolutely broke and rebuilt me. This isn’t your typical small-town romance, it’s soft, slow, and deeply emotional. It’s about Lily, a woman running from her past, and Noah, the quiet, steady man who’s never really left his small mountain town. When a chance accident throws them together, they end up finding something neither of them expected, safety. Lily and Noah have to fight hard for what they want in this fade to black, slow burn romance. I love both of them so much🫶
Overall I absolutely love this book and truly can't wait to read more by K.P Haven❤️ Thank you for picking my to be an ARC for this amazing story🫶
This book is best read after Deby of My Soul. The first book focuses on Liam, and the second book is about his younger sister Lily. I give it 2.5 because I was tempted to skim through the end. Also, I didn't feel compelled to finish it, although I did.
Lily left home at 17 without revealing why. She hasn't kept in touch with home and has been enjoying her nomadic lifestyle--living out of her car and hiking the National Forests.
When Lily gets hurt, Ranger Sullivan comes to her rescue. After that, he just can't seem to get her out of his head.
Lily doesn't trust law enforcement, and for good reason; however, she seems drawn to Noah and feels like she can trust him.
Lily ends up caring for Noah's dying mother, but as the two come closer together, Lily's past catches up to her.
I didn't immediately like Lily, but she did grow on me. She does deal with flashbacks of SA, but there are no explicit details.
Lily is alone, living in her car, and running from her past when her life intersects with Noah, a park ranger. Circumstances bring them together until they can't deny their feelings for each other. However, both of them have ghosts from the past haunting them and threatening their futures.
Give Her Time was a sweet romance linked to the book Debt of My Soul. I loved the connection and would enjoy seeing more of this world. Dual POV is my favorite, and I'm also a fan of fade-to-black romance. It means there is more time for the actual plot. The story was very character-driven, but there was some action at the end. Some unlikely circumstances created the perfect storm, causing upheaval in Lily and Noah's lives, making things really intense. Still, there is a HEA and a glimpse of characters from the previous book. This one is 5 stars!
Gah... Where to start. I loved this book!! I loved Lilly and her grumpy self at the beginning of the book. Adored how her and Noah's mom bickered back and forth at each other but also had a deep found family love between them. Their relationship was one of my favorite parts of the story. Lilly's growth and healing through the book was fantastic. I loved seeing the change in her.
Noah was amazing! He was so patient and sweet. Very caring. He loved deeply and it showed in several different parts of the book. The way the author wrote the book allowed me to feel the things he was feeling at several different times. Let's not forget his dog, Max. Max was the best!
This book made me smile, laugh, frown and even made me tear up a couple of times. That letter towards the end of the book.... I defiantly will be reading more of Haven's books!
Another fantastic book from KP Haven! I loved how she didn’t shy away from incorporating real world trauma into the story. It’s not an easy task to do but somehow KP manages to do it in a way that makes the characters feel more real.
I also loved how this book ties back to Debt of my Soul but isn’t dependent on that story. I loved getting another glimpse of Liam and Fleur!
KP has such a way with words and is a masterful story teller! If you love intense stories this is for you! You’ll love Noah & Lily and of course, Max.
This book finished me. I was not expecting this book. It took me by surprise and left me in pieces. The HEA was well deserved and fought for. There was tension and angst in between tender moments of healing. This is not a lighthearted romance, it was raw and a tough read at times. Lily and Noah were strong characters with amazing chemistry and their growth both together and individually was a beautiful story. I loved the undertones of suspense that were in the book, it offset the heavy emotional load that was laid on us. I cannot get over how this book made me feel, and I will need time to move on from this story.
This book was such a good read! I’ve missed suspenseful, gritty stories that are still clean, and this one gave me everything I wanted. I loved watching Noah and Lilly’s relationship develop and seeing Lilly learn to trust him while he kept proving he wasn’t going anywhere was just so good.
The tropes were all amazing, and the ending had me at the edge of my seat. It was intense, emotional, and wrapped up perfectly while still making me so ready for more. KP Haven did an incredible job with this book, and I seriously cannot wait for the next one in the series! 🫶🏻
Lily has been running from her past. She loves to hike. One mishap and she breaks Noah life like a tornado. Noah is a ranger with k-9. Lily is quiet and keeps to her self. Noah can’t stop thinking about her and he welcomes her to his life. He gives her a place to stay, he gets someone to take care of his dying mother. Until his past comes calling and her past crashes her would have now it’s up to Noah to keep his promise. She never needed anybody till Noah. Now both are fight from their past to keep their future together.
First of all… I don’t think I’ve cried that much reading a book in YEARS. I absolutely loved Lily, Noah, and Max. Their story was so beautifully written. After reading debt of my soul, I really felt like I was watching my own little sister find herself and learn to love. And Max, oh my heart. I’m a sucker for a story with a fur baby. My heart feels so full after finishing this book. I’m so ready for whatever book comes next in this world.
Lily and Noah are some of the sweetest characters I’ve ever met!
Their chemistry was undeniable in this slow burn, steamy closed door story. The trauma that was addressed was so emotional as they were fighting for love. It was beautiful to read the characters vulnerability to help promote their healing and growth.
I will say, you should read the triggers as there are very sensitive topics discussed in this story. It was an emotionally rewarding read that I would recommend.
Give Her Time by KP Haven immediately hooked me with its national park setting—I’m a huge park lover, so the backdrop made me feel right at home. 🌲 The descriptions were vivid and transported me straight into the story. Beyond the setting, the book is heartfelt, emotional, and full of healing and love. KP Haven captures both the beauty of nature and the resilience of people in such a moving way. Highly recommend!
K.P. Haven is hands down one of my favorite authors. She NEVER misses!
First off, I loved the connection between Lily and Rose. Their relationship was exactly what the other needed. I also enjoyed the way she warmed up to max and how instantly protective he was of her. And then theirs Noah, the build up to them was wonderful. The patience he had with her....ughhh. I love them so much!
This was my first read from K.P. Haven. I needed a book with "Give" in the title for a book challenge, and this one caught my eye with the cover, and sounded interesting from the summary, so I gave it a chance. I'm so glad I did! I was quickly hooked and eager to keep reading. Loved everything about the story. Will happily read more from her.
K P Haven strikes again! The story telling and tension in this book is top tier. There is so much heart and a healthy dose of swoony scenes in this book. A little bit of a different take than some of her other books and I am far from mad about it. Had to read this one in a day per usual. I'm sat for the next!
I enjoyed getting more of Lily. She was mentioned briefly in the other novel. This was a fast paced story that will keep you immersed for hours. It is one that you will not want to read late in the evening because it will keep you up. I would defiantly read again and I am hoping there will be an installment for Adam as well.
Another emotionally charged, beautifully written story from K.P. Haven. Lily and Noah’s story is full of heart, healing, and quiet strength. I loved how she explored grief and trauma with such honesty while still giving us moments of warmth and hope. It’s tender, raw, and real — but please check the content warnings before diving in.
