Akira Tennou—an unremarkable thirty-five-year-old janitor—has got a lot to complain about. He was hit by a truck, unintentionally dragged into a hero-summoning spell, and now he’s stuck in some random gloomy forest in a parallel world. And he’s probably afflicted by a dark curse now, if his sister’s beloved fantasy manga are to be believed. The ominous shadows everywhere don’t give him much hope for his new life, especially when they’re also attached to the giant wolf that just snuck up behind him...
But while this world does come with a curse, it also comes with something magic. Akira’s got the power to purify, and he’s gonna use it to free the creatures of the forest! Trying to figure out how magic works without a teacher isn’t going to be easy, but he’s not gonna let some stupid curse get between him and a bunch of cute animals. Even if those animals are huge... Who knew wolves could be this adorable?
While I don't automatically mind extreme OP MCs, especially not in what is basically a cosy slice-of-life kind of story, it greatly depends on the characters and the nature of the story. This series disappointments in that regards. The MC is an idiot who bumbles his way through problems with an overwhelming amount of magic and luck. He is a nice idiot who at least wants to help those around him, but shows no interest beyond making his life easier and as a result nothing much happens beyond him bringing basically civilisation to the forest and sending the bad magic back to its origin (never bothering to learn what is going on in the first place) while on occasion rescuing primordial monsters of the forest such as phoenixes, dragons, fenrir and what not (which he "thinks" are simple birds, winged lizards and dogs). Definitely not a book for me. Found it repetitive and boring.
