She escaped her demons. He’s still dancing with his.
ELENA
I’m not a damsel in distress. I’m a damsel with a plan: leave quietly, start over somewhere safe, and never look back. Everything was coming together beautifully… until Chase Everton sat in the booth across from me in the little town of Sable Point. After the abuse I’ve suffered, his playboy charm should send me running. But here’s something about his cocky smile and chaotic honesty that keeps me coming back. The closer he gets, the harder it is to pretend I don’t want him. And the harder it gets to ignore just how far my husband will go to make me regret leaving.
CHASE
One look and I was done. If I had it my way, we’d already be married. But the slight complication of Elena Ventura’s manipulative husband has her pushing me away—then pulling me right back in. I’m fine being her yo-yo. Hell, I’m constantly bouncing between sober and three sheets to the wind. But when her past comes calling and it sends me spiraling harder than ever, the fallout is nothing short of catastrophic. Now I have one shot at earning back Elena’s trust and righting the wrongs I’ve racked up over the years. I’ve been the villain in a lot of people’s stories, but I am determined to be the hero in hers.
Mended Fences is the fourth interconnected standalone in the Sable Point series with a guaranteed HEA. This book is intended for mature readers, as it includes explicit sexual content, strong language, and adult situations.
Lauren Kiser is making the contemporary romance genre a little bit sweeter—and a whole lot steamier. Navigating life from the driver's seat of her minivan, this Midwest mom of two transforms the daily grind into sizzling adventures, capturing the hearts of readers who like their love stories with a side of sass.
Tissues are needed. I repeat, grab yourself some tissues before diving into this one. From book 1 of the series I could not wait until Chase’s story and it did not disappoint at all.
Beautiful and vulnerably raw. Buckle up for an emotional rollercoaster between the black sheep of the Everton family, Chase and the love of his life (at first sight), Elena. Both have some baggage but they are on the mends to do better for themselves and to do it together.
This story is on multiple timelines going to the past and current time to share the story of how Chase and Elena meet to where they stay for a very much needed HEA.
I’m sad that our time at Sable Point had come to an end but it was such a good time. Full of laughs, tears, and heartwarming moments that I will always cherish.
A big thank you to Lauren for letting me arc read. I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us next.

This is the last book of the Sable Point series and I have been anxiously waiting for Chase’s HEA since reading book 1!
Chase is an addict who reacts on instinct, never thinks of consequences and leans into his role as the family black sheep.
Elena is a doctor who has experienced a great deal of trauma from her marriage, trying to pick up the pieces to start a new life and working to find her voice again.
When they meet, the connection is instant but she’s married and he’s the town playboy. How can this possible work out?
The story is told through past and present timeline which dives into her secret and his desire to be a good man for her.
When push comes to shove, Chase will do anything for Elena but he isn’t putting his own issues as top priority to be the best man for her.
This book had me crying, giggling and wanting more when it was over. I am sad to see Sable Point come to an end but I cannot wait for more from Lauren!
Please read the trigger warnings if you are sensitive to abuse or addiction - it’s handled well but can always be triggering for people.
EN:
I can't believe I read this book in one afternoon, just like the previous book in this series. Chase is my favorite, there's no way around it. I love a troubled boy with trauma, and he is literally that. I had tears in my eyes several times, both for Elena and for Chase. To be honest, the Everton family irritated me several times with the way they treated him. I think that if a person is troubled, we shouldn't throw it in their face. As for Elena, what a woman. Everything she's been through, everything she's suffered, everything she's overcome. Without a doubt, a super strong character who deserves only good things in her life. I enjoyed seeing their past intertwined with the present: how they met, how they fell in love, what happened that day with Charlie. This is a favorite author of mine, without a shadow of a doubt, because I'm always captivated by what she writes.
Mended Fences by Lauren Kiser is the fourth and final book of her Sable Point Series. This is a small town romance following Chase Everton and Elena Ventura. 🚩This is for readers 18 years and/or older as it has mature content and not suitable for underage readers. There are dark themes that can be triggering so please check out the content warning before you dive in 🚩
My thoughts 💭 I have been waiting for Chase’s story since book 1 and I think Lauren Kiser made the perfect choice making his book as the conclusion of the series. This book is so beautiful, Lauren Kiser writes about the abuse Elena experiences and Chase’s addiction carefully and respectfully which is something I appreciate. Reading and experiencing the character growth and development for both Elena and Chase is told so beautifully. Chase, goodness that man, addiction is truly a disease and it’s heartbreaking to see how much of a hold it has on him but he never gave up. He kept trying hard to be a man who deserves the right to have such a wonderful and strong woman like Elena. The work he continued to put in is admirable. Elena, a survivor, she is every woman who digs deep within themselves and leaves because despite the consequences…that will always be better than the alternative. My heart broke for both of these characters so much throughout this book, I knew I was going to cry I just didn’t expect how much but so worth it because they both get the happy ending they deserve. This book is so so amazing!
✨I would like to thank the author, Lauren Kiser and Luna Literary Management for the opportunity to read and review Mended Fences.
I knew this book would be heavy… and it was, but in the most heartbreakingly beautiful way. Thank you so much for the ARC, Lauren 💛
📚 Before you dive in: Please check the trigger warnings. This story tackles some deeply difficult topics, so you have to be ready.
In book 4 of the series, we finally get Chase and Elena’s story. After a devastating accident, Chase finds himself in rehab, forced to confront the wreckage of his past actions. As he fights to get clean, his thoughts return to Elena, the love of his life. When he’s released, he finally sees her again… still just as beautiful, but now three months pregnant. Determined to be the man she and their daughter deserve, Chase sets out to prove he’s changed.
💭 Wow. I genuinely don’t have many words for this one. The chapters dealing with Elena’s abuse and Chase’s addiction are gut-wrenching, but they’re written with such tenderness and respect. And the love between them? It’s raw, powerful, and healing. They’re each other’s safe space, and their little girl is the most beautiful symbol of that love. This was the perfect ending to a romance series that will stay with me for a long time. If you love stories that break you and rebuild you at the same time, this one’s for you.
I’ve been waiting for my guy Chase throughout this whole series and my lover-boy did not disappoint 😭
Chase, the black sheep of the Everton family, is trying to turn his life around - fresh out of rehab and ready to get back on track he runs into Elena, the woman he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about. Little does he know, she’s pregnant & the baby may be his 👀
Chase has grown SO much throughout this series & to see him finally get the happy ending he deserves was so special 🥹
Both he and Elena struggled in silence until they realized they deserved better 👏🏻
This book is pretty heavy in terms of content so please check triggering warnings prior to reading 🫶🏻

Huge thank you to Lauren for allowing me to arc read this & be apart of her book tour team!! 🤍
Oh my… what a heartbreakingly beautiful story of two souls who are healing and finding home in each other.
I will never get over this book. Lauren Kiser’s writing and ability to unravel a story (especially one as complicated as this), is just incredible.
The growth Chase & Elena go through is so huge. Their HEA is one with many ups and downs, and by the end, they’ve earned it. These are two people who are absolutely meant to be together, and they have gone to hell and back and would do it again to see each other at the end of the tunnel.
If you love a redemption arc, this is one you should absolutely check out. If you told me in book 1 that I would be head over heels in love with Chase, I would’ve laughed. But his & Elena’s story is my favorite 🥹.
Lauren Kiser truly created something special here with this Sable Point series, and she has gained a lifelong fan in me. I cannot wait to see what she will accomplish in the future!
On a personal note, pieces of this story hit close to home, and I thought Lauren Kiser handled such heavy topics with incredible care and attention. I am once again so grateful for my experience as a reader that an author’s words can make me feel seen and help heal pieces of me. Lauren, thank you for enduring my crying voice memos as I was reading 🤣🫶🏻.

💜 Thank you so much to Lauren Kiser for the opportunity to arc read Mended Fences.
Raw, vulnerable and highly emotional, Lauren completely captured my heart with Chase and Elena’s story. I’ve been waiting for Chase’s story since book 1 and he was absolutely worth the wait.
Full of obstacles, heartbreak and redemption, Mended Fences delivers a beautiful story about two people who love each other for who they are. Chase and Elena met each other where they were and traveled a road not many would choose to. The strength and resilience they both showed throughout the book simply amazed me. There was also a perfect balance between past and current events that brought the whole series full circle.
Mended Fences is a great reminder that it’s never too late to become who you want to be.
1000/10 recommend!
As always, please check the trigger warnings as Mended Fences covers difficult subjects.

I have been waiting on Chase & Elena’s story and wow-it did not disappoint! What a whirlwind of emotions. I literally read this in one day and could not put it down. I’m so happy that Chase got himself under control for Elena and their family. The perfect book to end the Sable Point series!
All the pieces have come together and Elena has a plan: move to Sable Point to live closer to her best friend, and never look back. With the abuse she has suffered, Chase Everton’s charm should repel her, but it has the opposite effect. The more she tries to push him away, the more he pushes to have her. But Elena’s ex-husband will go through extreme lengths to make her regret leaving him. Chase refuses to let go of Elena, despite a slight complication — she’s a married woman. The manipulative and isolation tactics of her husband have been successful, with Elena pushing everyone away. But Chase doesn’t mind the adrenaline, he seeks it out daily with his substance addiction. He wants to right his wrongs, and the only way to do that is to make a major change in his life. - 5 ⭐️ 3 🌶️ - Please be mindful of trigger warnings.

The dual timeline structure of this novel helps explore emotional depth, with each chapter unfolding the romantic tension between the main characters. The chapters creates a clear dialogue between the past and the present, bringing the reader along for a deeper sense of connection to the characters. I absolutely LOVED the chemistry between the two main characters. I have so many highlights in my margins because the love that these two feel for one another is so passionate and emotional. I really liked the addition of text conversations between the Everton family, they had me cracking up. I’ve always had a soft spot for Chase, so it was really nice to see him redeem himself in the final instalment of this series. If you’ve read previous books in the series, you know that Chase has had it rough for a little while and has been having internal battles. It’s an exciting and welcome change to watch his character expand to a domestic, happy, and inspired human being. I empathize with Elena throughout the entire story. Watching her grow from a shy, guarded girl to a confident, strong and resilient woman is inspiring to survivors and/or victims of abuse, everywhere. Elena’s loved ones provide her with so much support, allowing to make her own decisions regarding her life and what parts she shares with them. It highlights the importance of victims having the autonomy to navigate their own situations while having a supportive person to rely on. I really hated Elena’s ex-husband. He was just a disgusting human being, but accurately depicts the abusive qualities that are the key point of his character. I’m planning to make this series my yearly September reread because they are just so good.
The entire 𝑺𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝑷𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒕 series holds a special place in my heart, and I’m so sad to see it come to an end. 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 is a deeply moving, raw, powerful story about heartbreak, addiction, love, and redemption.
This book discusses some very heavy topics so, before picking it up, please check the TWs.
Lauren Kiser has a way of writing flawed and deeply human characters that will absolutely capture the heart of the reader. Chase Everton…let me just say it like it is, he was f*cked up! After years of being the black sheep in the family, he was lost and unsure of his place in the world. Elena then comes into his life and though he loved her, he found it hard to stay on the straight and narrow. However, throughout the story, we see how hard he tries. He made the necessary sacrifices to ensure Elena’s happiness and when he discovered something about her that would have other men running away, he stuck by her side. He truly grew and matured as the story progressed and he ended up being my favorite character in the book, dare I say, the entire series.
Elena was such an inspirational character. I felt so bad for her and all the things Peter put her through. Even when life beat her down and even during her darkest times, she remained so strong and determined to survive. I also liked how, despite his flaws, she gave Chase a chance. She saw through his tough exterior and when others could not and would not, she loved him, without condition, and gave tough love when necessary.
Though an emotionally heavy read, I liked how real and raw the story was. Lauren did not shy away from the heartache and pain; she wrote this book with such care and attention, and I think for us as readers to understand and appreciate the beautiful ending, we had to see and experience the entire difficult journey. At the end, the healing, the forgiveness and the love made it all worth it.
Overall, I loved and would highly recommend not only 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, but the entire 𝑺𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝑷𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒕 series. The Everton family was not perfect, but they loved and took care of one another. This is a series that I am sad to say goodbye to, but I will be sure to revisit it in the future.

I’m convinced she’s out to wreck my emotions in every book 🤣
First off, definitely read the trigger warnings on this one. It deals with a lot of really heavy and difficult topics and can be really triggering.
That said, I absolutely LOVED this final book in the Sable Point series. This is one of few small town series I enjoy. Overall, I rated this 4.25/4.5 stars.
Elena goes through some really difficult shit through this book. And, honestly, I’ve been in a relationship with a person who controlled everything and was not a good person, so I could relate to a lot of the things she did and totally understood why. It’s so hard to connect with people when you’re fighting through what was supposed to be a loving partnership. I think this character was very well written, raw, and real. Just thinking about it makes my heart break for her all over again. But she gets the HEA that she deserves, and I am so, SO happy for her!
And Chase… oh, my guy. After reading book 3 (unearthed dreams, which you ALL need to read!!!) I was interested to see what he went through with his family and how he ended up so deep in his addiction. He struggled so much with his own issues, but he eventually cleans up his act and treats Elena like she deserves. The man yearns for a WHILE before they end up really giving their relationship a chance, and he ends up becoming the sweetest guy. I do think getting clean for someone else can be a little problematic, but even Elena says that it has to be for him first (at least, at first…). I do love them together, and they eventually show how much they love each other and support each other through the hardest moments and the easy, fun (and sexy!!) moments. 😏

I have been waiting for book 4 in the Sable Points series since book 1! Lauren Kiser introduced us to the MMC of Mended Fences in book 1 and I was immediately salivating for his story. Every book since then we saw him in every story, but finally, finally we get his story! And he is worth the wait! This is my favorite story in this series and might be my favorite book of Lauren’s yet. Everything about this story is perfect!
Chase from the first time he was introduced, I knew he was going to have a story to tell. He is struggling and although you don’t find out immediately how or why, my heart went out to him. I wanted to hug him and tell him he is good enough. Lauren has outdone herself in writing Chase’s character. He is broken, but doesn’t accept it. Allowing him to see the type of man he has always had the capacity of being, he learns to let others in and forgive himself.
Elena has been through so much in her marriage and while she is still picking up the pieces, she meets Chase. She feels something for him immediately, but keeps her distance due to still being married and Chase’s playboy reputation. Her story is set both in the present and the past, as we find out about her past and why she is healing the way she is.
Lauren writes some very heavy topics with grace and respect in this book. It can be triggering, but she put so much heart into ensuring she approached these topics the right way. She reminds people that no matter where you’ve been, your past doesn’t define you. It helps mold you into the person you want to be, in the present. I laughed and cried as Chase and Elena became the people they wanted to be, not only for each other, but for themselves. This book is special, really special, and ends the Sable Point series perfectly!
As always, review any author notes before reading.

Brief Glimpse🪻🩺🧇 “To the ones mending fences of their own…may you find peace in the healing and joy in what comes next.” “Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is just show up and be vulnerable. No fixing required.” Eight months ago, Elena Stone fled to Sable Point, hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she found her own personal hell. She thought she’d escaped her demons, only to realize some never stop hunting you. When Chase Everton slides into her booth, his playboy charm and addictions should send her running. Instead, she’s drawn in. Labeled the family screw-up, Chase battles addiction and the belief that he’ll never get his life together. But Elena’s past isn’t finished with her. When the man she thought she’d left behind finds her, everything begins to unravel. As tragedy strikes and danger closes in, Chase is forced to step up, determined to become her hero and rebuild the trust they both fear losing. Will Elena risk giving Chase a second chance with her future? Read to find out.
This is the fourth interconnected standalone in the Sable Point series, and I absolutely loved it. This is only my second book by Lauren Kiser, but she’s quickly becoming a must-read author for me. The way she connects her stories and characters is so well done. We get glimpses of Chase in book three, and finally seeing his story unfold, along with Elena’s, was emotional and unforgettable. You feel for Elena instantly and can’t help but root for her to finally find the safe haven she deserves. This story has that comforting vibe, with a raw, emotional twist of addiction woven into the romance. Please read the trigger warnings, as this book does touch on abuse and addiction. This one is definitely living rent-free in my head.
I have enjoyed reading the Sable Point series and knew Chase’s story was going to be such an emotional, turmoil, heartbreaking story but also didn’t know what to expect. I knew he was the broken down tattered boy we all want to fix, but just wow!
Chase’s life has been about going through life in the shadows of his older twin, battling “I’m not good enough”, “I’ll never measure up”, and just, “Elliot this, Elliot that, why bother”. It was truly heartbreaking to see Chase try to make something of himself, but with the constant self doubt in his head, it was no wonder he went down a very dark spiral.
But in the midst of his spiral, he met an equally broken individual, Elena our FMC, who was much smarter than those take her for. How she knew exactly how to take her life back and get away from her despicable husband and go after no longer what she wanted, but what was owed to her. Yeah girl! I love an FMC that stands up for herself and takes no fucks.
The chemistry between Chase and Elena was apparent from the start. I think more than anything what I loved about these two, was how Chase provided Elena a safe place, something she never really has had, without really doing anything. He became so much more to her, by just being him. And in return, Elena loved Chase for being his unapologetic self. While he was always striving to be better, or someone who he wasn’t, she saw through to him and loved him for who he already was. She didn’t need more. He was already enough and that meant everything to him.
I will say there are some heavy triggers in this book, so check the warnings before diving in, but it’s so worth it.
But please please add Mended Fences to your TBR.
Thank you so much Lauren for allowing me to be apart of your book tour and allowing me to read this as an early reader.
♥️A Powerful, Heartfelt Story of Healing, Redemption, and Love♥️
Thank you, Lauren for a deeply moving story that left me both broken and healed in the best possible ways. *Chase and Elena’s* journey is not your typical romance—it’s raw, emotional, and rooted in pain, growth, and the kind of love that fights for its place. I smiled for them, cried for them, and by the end, I was genuinely rooting for their happily ever after with every part of me.
Elena Ventura—what a woman. Strong, resilient, and carrying far more than anyone ever should. Her escape from an abusive marriage isn’t just a plotline; it’s a powerful reclaiming of her voice and her future. She’s not a damsel in distress—she’s a survivor with a plan. And when that plan gets complicated by the chaotic, messy, and maddeningly charming *Chase Everton*, the emotional stakes hit another level entirely.
Chase... I never expected him to become my most favorite, especially after everything we saw of him in previous books. But somehow, he did. Lauren has written his redemption arc with so much care and depth, portraying his struggles with addiction, guilt, and self-worth in a way that feels painfully real. His love for Elena and his transformation into someone capable of not only loving but protecting and healing—that growth hit me hard. Watching him care for Elena and step into fatherhood was something I didn’t know I needed and it actually made me cry.
The "black cat x golden retriever" dynamic between Chase and Elena adds a surprising warmth and levity to balance the darker moments. The banter, the emotional intimacy, the text exchanges—they all worked together to create something truly special.
This book isn’t just about romance. It’s about survival, forgiveness, redemption, and the messiness of real love. It’s about mending fences—both literally and emotionally—and giving yourself the grace to grow, even when you’ve made mistakes.
Lauren, you’ve done it again—thank you for writing stories that matter.
Thank you, Lauren Kiser, for providing this ARC of Mended Fences in exchange for a review.
Let me start with this: check the trigger warnings. They’re there for a reason, and every one of them packs a punch. There were moments my heart was firmly lodged in my throat and I had to put the book down just to breathe.
Elena absolutely owned my heart. She’s smart, strategic, and has a quiet strength that radiates from every page. What she endured from her ex-husband was diabolical, and honestly, his ending felt far too swift for the level of villainy involved. I wanted more… suffering. But seeing Elena reclaim her worth, set boundaries, and stand firm after years of cruelty made me so proud of her.
Then there’s Chase. Addiction is such a complex, lifelong battle, and Kiser didn’t sugarcoat it. Chase’s journey is full of rock-bottom moments and painful honesty, but once he hit rehab, his growth was so genuine. His dedication to his recovery, his family, and especially to Elena and their daughter felt incredibly heartfelt. I can’t condone what he did in the past, but I do respect how far he’s come.
The story flows beautifully between past and present, keeping the emotional tension high without ever feeling confusing. My only gripe? The ending wrapped up a bit too quickly for me. After such an intense build-up, the abduction and subsequent HEA could have used a little more breathing room.
This was my first Lauren Kiser book and my first time reading something with this level of emotional heaviness—and it won’t be my last. I’ll definitely be going back to read the earlier books in the series.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Two people with heavy pasts hoping for a brighter future - this is Mended Fences.
This is a dual timeline book, which makes going a basic plot summary a little harder but let’s give it a shot. Elena escaped her abusive husband and landed in a small town to work as a doctor. Now pregnant, she’s anxious for the man she loves to finish rehab and come home to her.
Chase hit rock bottom before going to rehab for drug and alcohol addiction. Now sober, he’s keen to get his new life started and prove to Elena he can be worthy of her love. But they both have pasts that will try and drag them back to the people they used to be…
This book, while heavy, was a really beautiful read. I really appreciated the dual timeline that started with Chase leaving rehab - it helped me to get through the earlier events knowing he’d turn his life around. It was very difficult to read at times, but the growth of both characters was really special.
There are a number of major potential triggers in this story, and the content warning should be taken very seriously. It includes drug and alcohol addiction, driving under the influence, domestic violence, marital rape and child abduction. If you can make it past the triggers, this is a beautiful story about healing and moving forward.
The romance is open door and medium burn. The marital rape scene is not described in detail. It is the final book in the Sable Point series, and while it can be read as a standalone, I would encourage readers to read the whole series for best enjoyment. This book would be perfect for contemporary romance fans.
Chase Everton has demons that have held him captive for years. Throughout the Sable Point series, we’ve watched him battle addiction and its consequences. After a devastating, drug-induced accident shakes the Everton family, Chase finally takes the brave step of asking for help.
Elena Ventura has a plan: leave quietly and start over in the small town of Sable Point, far away from her husband and the chaos she’s escaping. What she doesn’t expect is to cross paths with a cocky yet deeply wounded man who keeps drawing her in when she’s trying her best to start fresh.
Chase and Elena’s story is an emotional rollercoaster — in the very best way. Their connection feels raw and real, and their love story is both heartbreaking and deeply healing. Even as they face their own personal battles, they find strength and comfort in each other.
This was the perfect conclusion to the Sable Point series. I’ve been eagerly waiting for Chase and Elena’s story, and it couldn’t have been a more fitting finale. Watching these two characters grow — individually and together — into the people they were always meant to become was incredibly rewarding.
The dual timeline adds depth and allows readers to truly understand their heartbreak, resilience, and transformation.
As always, Lauren delivers another beautifully written, emotionally rich novel that feels like coming home to Sable Point. While I’m sad to say goodbye to this world, I’m already counting down the days until her next masterpiece.
I truly love how Chase and Elena’s story made me feel so many things. Chase was really messed up he almost lost his sister because of a motorbike accident, and he nearly failed to clean himself up, not for anyone else, but for himself. Chase represents how a person who grows up constantly being compared to others especially a sibling can lose his way. He knew what he did wrong, and it took the right woman to help him realize what he’d been missing, not for others, but for his own healing. Chase is a man of gentleness and sincerity, if only he is given the chance to show what he can do instead of being judged too soon.
Elena what a strong woman she is. I love how she escaped Peter, and how smart she was to plan everything carefully so she could finally leave him. Elena is a woman who became tired of being submissive, especially when all she received in return was pain. It’s hard to be in her shoes and it’s hard to truly understand what she went through unless you try to put yourself in her place.
As I finished reading this beautiful story of Chase and Elena, I was left with thoughts of compassion, courage, and the importance of showing a little extra kindness in our everyday lives. Because we never really know what someone else is going through. And sometimes, giving people a chance doesn’t just help them change for the better it gently helps them realize that they can become so much more than who they used to be.
Yet again, another book Lauren wrote that I flew through in less than a day. Chase may have been known as the family black sheep and constant f***up, but to Elena he was her safety and calm. You guys...the growth Chase goes through in this book. Prepare your heart, you will need it. He changes drastically, but only in the best ways. Elena makes changes too, and her story is one that will give you chills. Like seriously....so much heartache for both of these characters, but together they are magic. The chemistry alone is fireworks. Oh and when you think the story is wrapping up, grab some tissues. Be ready to clutch your pearls, get the chills, your throat to get tight....because Lauren is going to take you for a ride.

I will live on my knees for you, Elena. Take whatever you need from me.
I want to wake up to your bed head and morning grumpiness. Watch you stress-clean when work gets rough. Kiss every inch of you until you believe how f*****g perfect you are.
Step slowly. Speak softly. Sit only when invited.
You're basically a domestic god.
But I swear, if he dies, I will defibrillate the f*** out of his a** so I can kill him myself.
I received an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book felt like it was based off of someone’s real life story. It had such intense, real issues and situations, with real reactions to things. This was the first book of this series that I read, and I will definitely be going back through to start from the beginning of the series to get a better understanding of Chase’s background and the rest of the family.
Spoilers warning
Chase’s struggle with addiction was portrayed so well and very realistic going through the steps after rehab. Elena’s abuse also felt so real. Some parts were hard to read, but it was needed. I hope Elena’s story helps someone feel less alone, and that they are capable of standing up to their abuser. They both knew they needed to take care of themselves before they could work on their relationship.
I was hoping Elena’s ex-husband wouldn’t return but the second I read the line about the ring doorbell going off, my heart dropped. I pictured that entire scene so vividly in my mind, so gut wrenching and so real. I’m so glad that Chase, Elena and their baby girl all ended up being ok, and that they got their HEA after everything they’ve been through.

This is the first time I have read anything by Lauren Kiser and I didn’t know that this was book 4 in a series, but after finishing the book you probably don’t need to read the first 3 to get a good idea of who some of the characters are.
Mended Fences took me on a whirl wind of emotions and honestly I never really saw the end plot coming. The drama, the love, the loyalty will make you absolutely love reading this. The characters all have some sort of damage in their story and that is what makes this such a good read. It was emotional and had me really feeling for the main characters. It is mentally in your face with the struggles that they both go through and I would recommend reading the trigger warnings before going into, just as it may bring up some unwanted feelings.
I really enjoyed the story telling of Chase and Elenas past present and future. It really helped understanding why the things that happened occurred and just showed their love and loyalty for each other.
I will definitely be reading the first couple of books and any that come after. Was really well written and very enjoyable.
Elena and Chase’s stories have been breaking my heart since Cherished Lands.
This book continued to break my heart until it finally pulled all the pieces back together.
I have a hard time with past vs present timeline hops but Lauren wrote this one in a way that I never questioned what timeline I was on.
Elena is a survivor. I love that about her. She is also a caretaker but has never had her own caretaker.
Chase is an addict with destructive behavior. Finding out about all the things that were happening with him during the last year or so helped not be so mad at him. But seeing him put in the work, struggle to deal with what he has done, and take care of our girl Elena (plus that sweet baby) is what made me forgive him!
I really loved this book. It might even be my favorite of the series.
The Everton’s are such a great family, of course they have issues and make mistakes but the love pouring from them is so pure!
Also, Peter… F*^K you….
Thanks Lauren, Sable Point has been an emotional, sexy, healing ride.
Thanks again to Luna Lit and Lauren Kiser. ARC read. All opinions are my own.
I can't believe this is the end of the series😭 This series has been absolutely amazing. Although I have loved a couple of the books more than the others, I have loved every single book in the Sable Point series. This whole series is a MUST READ.
Chase & Elena's story was beautifully written & went by so quickly. The connection between them was instant, starting with that very first meeting. Their love is so strong that there was no way they wouldn't find their way back to each other. They just needed to get through their own personal battles first.
If you read the previous books in this series, then you already had a little background on Chase's story. Elena's was a bit more of a mystery, where we were only given tidbits of her life in books 2 & 3. So I was happy we were able to get more background to her story in this book.
These books can be read as a standalone, but I personally think they should be read in order. Especially after reading Chase's story.
I am extremely honored to have been able to not just read an ARC of this book but the ARCs for the whole series. Now I need the hard copies for my shelf.
I am so sad this is the last Book in the series but I'm excited to see what else Lauren has planned for us. First off I have been patiently waiting for Chase's story since Book One and this book did not disappoint! The battle and struggle that Chase went through was so heartbreaking. It was nice to see his side of things and his view & version of being the "messed up" twin. Elena is so strong of a person for the battles that she had to go through but she came out on the other side as such a strong woman. She's just an amazing person, best friend and adopted daughter. The Found Family in this book is so top notch I would happily be adopted into their family. Definitely read this book but you really might as well read the whole series. Happy Reading Everyone!

The last in the Sable Point series..and I am so so sad to leave.
We have:
🩶Chase - Troubled, and has many fences to mend 💜Elena - Strong, resilient and knows exactly what Chase needs
I mean…I didn’t think, after reading the series so far that Chase would make the top of the list as one of my favourite characters, but he was written so well and the care and attention paid to the topics just made it all the more easy to genuinely root for not only Chase alone, but for his happily ever after.
This is not a light fluffy romance, there are struggles. I loved the Then and Now of the chapters.
Elena, what a strong woman, who despite her struggles and the abuse she suffers, she kept her heart open and was such a support to Chase. My heart broke for both of them throughout the story.
This is a beautiful story about healing and allowing yourself the grace to grow and learn from your mistakes.
I’m really excited for what’s to come next and I’m hoping it’s about a certain someone we met in this book!!
This was my first Lauren Kiser book and I am FLOORED. I will absolutely be reading not only the rest of the series, but any other book she wrote and writes.
Mended Fences was a rollercoaster of emotion I am absolutely here for the thrill.
Chase is an addict who takes one step forward only to take three back. Until he meets Elena. She’s the new doctor in town and his SIL’s best friend, and she’s running from her soon-to-be ex husband.
Throughout the book, we experience both of their struggles, triumphs, and everything in between. I could not read this fast enough. Just when I think I know what is going to happen next, my theory was flipped on its head and my jaw hit the floor. Every. Single. Time.
I was audibly reacting, my heart was pounding, and I definitely cried a few times (which I rarely do). If you haven’t read one of Lauren’s books yet, I cannot recommend this book enough. And if you haven’t read, now that you’re in for an absolute TREAT of a read.
This is book 4 in the Sable Point series, but is actually the first book I have read and I was instantly rooting for Chase's redemption and Elena's HEA. Whilst I am sure reading the others first would have given me some additional background to the other characters, I didn't feel like I was missing out at all in regards to characters and/or storylines.
This book alternates between current day where Chase has just left rehab and is trying to turn his life around to be good enough for Elena - or at least do what is best for her, and the past where you learn about the demons that both characters were trying to escape and their history.
This book had actual tears in my eyes at one point and I just needed to know the characters were going to be okay. I will definitely be going back to read the reat of the series, but I feel this book is a great conclusion to it (from my time with all the characters)
