Peter J. Tomasi is an American comic book writer, best known for his work for DC Comics, such as Batman And Robin; Superman; Super Sons; Batman: Detective Comics; Green Lantern Corps; and Superman/Wonder Woman; as well as Batman: Arkham Knight; Brightest Day; Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors; Nightwing; Black Adam, and many more.

In the course of his staff career at DC Comics, Tomasi served as a group editor and ushered in new eras for Batman, Green Lantern, and the JSA, along with a host of special projects like Kingdom Come.

He is also the author of the creator-owned titles House Of Penance with artist Ian Bertram; Light Brigade with artist Peter Snejbjerg; The Mighty with Keith Champagne and Chris Samnee; and the critically acclaimed epic graphic novel The Bridge: How The Roeblings Connected Brooklyn To New York, illustrated by Sara DuVall and published by Abrams ComicArts.

2026 - Still great. This is where Tomasi really gets to grow the Corps, make me feel like a group who becomes family. I love the opening with Kyle and Guy. Really sets the tone. And enjoyed the big bad of this arc. Also poor Bzzd!


2019 - Damn sure when Peter J. Tomasi enters a title I get fucking excited because man oh man, he brings it almost always.

So Kyle is back after the events of Sinestro War. He's trying to get back to his regular life as a Green lantern. Guy and Him decided to leave earth and live within the OA. In doing so they will be on a lot more space adventures while John and Hal stay on earth. In doing so we get Mongul going around the universe collecting all the yellow rings to use as a power source to...well rule the world because he is insane. So now we get multiple green lantern characters, with the two main focuses being Guy and Kyle.

Good: Loved the hell out of Kyle and Guy's character development. David did a good job last run making me like Guy but Peter gives me a reason to really embrace the character while keeping true to his obnoxious ways at times. Kyle easily fits into the partner role for Guy to make two very interesting main characters. The art is great, and the universe and fights never looked so good. Oh, and how awesome was it to see the Lanterns go all "FUCK OFF" and blow a villains head right off? Yeah. This is the Green Lanterns I've been waiting for.

Bad: Sometimes I got confused who was who again for the Lanterns. There's so many, and some get so little screen time, that when something horrible happens I just go "Who was that again?"

Overall, great stuff. Very fast paced, fun, and a lot of heart. The fights are bigger, bloodier, and more badass than before. I hope Tomasi run stays this good! 4 out of 5.

Great comic issue, The Sinestro Crops Wars did take a heavy beating to the Green Lanterns. The follow up was great, having the son of a long-time foe of Superman becoming the newest leader of the Sinestro Crops. Sadly, I think this is the last time we'll see the Black Mercy Plants and also the death of Lantern Bzzd. It is great that Mother Mercy chooses to be a Green Lantern instead of a Sinestro Crops member because she and her children were being use a tool by Mongul Jr. At least I don't judge before getting know one person and creature to another.

Bombastic, loud and hella fun!

This series is exactly what it needs to be, just simple action packed summer movie fun, add Mongul and you gave more funness.

World: The art is Gleason, it's messy, it's yucky and gross in the best way. I'm really surprised with the stuff he can get away with cause he loves drawing blood and bodily fluids. The framing and character designs are also awesome. The world building this time around is great, the two stories we see here are both great, one with Mongul and another with Bodikka. Both offer different glimpses of another part of this vast Green Lantern world and it's great. The Black Mercy stuff is the icing in the cake.

Story: The story this time around is great, two stories here offer something different and also hits emotionally. Both are paced well and reads super fast and fun. The Mongol story is great due to the world building and the emotional impact of the Black Mercy and the Bodikka story hits even harder with the sisterhood and the change in this character. Just fun.

Characters: Strong and surprisingly deep. There is a lot of action and it's non stop but because of the Black Mercy there is plenty of development. Also, changing a Kyle and Guy's status quo is good. Guy is less bro and sexist this time around which is great. The Alpha Lantern storyline is building towards something which will have a big impact emotionally. It's surprising how much me covered given the huge cast.

This book continues to shine. When it hits, it's great, this is a fun fun book to read.

One of my big complaints about Green Lantern Corps after Recharge was that Kyle Rayner was nowhere to be found after appearing in Recharge. I've since found out that he was busy elsewhere, first participating in the Rann-Thanagar War and then flying around as Ion in the wake of Infinite Crisis. Of course, through the course of The Sinestro Corps War Kyle ended up becoming Parallax and was divested of the Ion entity in the process, so by the end of the Sinestro arc, Kyle was back to being a ring-slinger and ultimately a returning member to Green Lantern Corps. However, Kyle's return doesn't do much to prevent this collection feel like a stock car idling, waiting for the race (ostensibly Blackest Night) to start.

Since I have already had the chance to read The Rage of the Red Lanterns I know that for the most part this story arc is less about the Green Lantern Corps and more about setting up Mongul (II) as an adversary for Sinestro in the Sinestro Corps itself. At one point in Rage one of Sinestro's lieutenants informs him of Mongul's challenge and Sinestro says that he is already aware of Mongul's plans (which is interesting, since Sinestro has been rotting in a jail on Oa until the events of Rage free him. But I feel like the Corps themselves are secondary to this arc--given that Rage of the Red Lanterns introduced us to not only the Red, but the Blue Lanterns as well, there are still two colors of the spectrum (orange and indigo) to be revealed, but this book concerns itself with the existing Sinestro (yellow) Lanterns, which seems to be a lot of a rehash of the Sinestro Corps War.

Of course, I'm sure that Peter Tomasi was likely taking his marching orders from Geoff Johns in the lead up to Blackest Night and obviously given Sinestro's actions at the end of Rage of the Red Lanterns the inevitable confrontation with Mongul isn't even the most important thing to pursue. I'm assuming that before Blackest Night can get into full swing, Sinestro is going to have to take care of his business, and it will be in the pages of this book, not with Hal Jordan. In Johns' hands, the Sinestro stories have been excellent. Let's hope that going forward through these trade paperbacks that Tomasi is as deft with the Green Lantern villain.

Pleasantly surprised by this one! The Guardians are trying to contain the amount of active Sinestro Corp rings until The GL Corp is strong enough again for a full on assault, so we get to see the aftermath of The Sinestro War on everyone’s lives as the surviving Green Lanterns go on the hunt for new Sinestro members. I really like the brotherhood Tomasi establishes between Guy and Kyle here. Their conversations about why they each wanted to leave Earth for Oa felt really genuine and endearing. It’s done more to make me like Guy Gardner than anything Geoff Johns has written in the main Green Lantern book.

While I initially rolled my eyes at another Mongul Jr. story, I really did enjoy the additional lore we got about the infamous Black Mercy plants, as well as the introduction of Mother Mercy. She played a great part in showing the characters’ fears after what they all experienced during the Sinestro Corp War and adds another act of cruelty to the long list of atrocities the Mongul family has committed. Pleasantly surprised by this one! Recommended to all Green Lantern fans.

I've made it no secret in the past that I love the creative team of Peter J Tomasi and Patrick Gleason and this volume of Green Lantern Corps just makes that more true.

I liked the previous volumes enough but I loved this one. The title really hit it's stride here. Kyle Rayner and Guy Gardener move to OA permanently to be Honor Guards in the Corps, and in the aftermath of the war with the Sinestro Corps they're searching for those leftover and trying to prevent the rings from going out. And putting the prisoners of war away.

I love me some Kyle Rayner as he's my favorite Green Lantern and this title has helped expose me to Guy Gardener who I now like lots more than I did.

This is a fun space adventure that delves deeper into the fears and desires of the characters in a really good way.

Also you'll love BZZD by the end.

5 stars. I recommend if you like Kyle Rayner, or Guy Gardener. Or fun space adventures that get deeper than you thought they would.

I admit I'm very biased here with this book and most people would feel this is just filler. The reason for my bias is I'm a big fan of Mongul who happens to appear in the book... sorta. This is a continuation of a Mongul II's storyline and serves are further set up for the impending Blackest Night.

Not in any way required reading but it's short so why not? That's what I say to Ring Quest.

Finally a green lantern corps book that is on par with recharge, and of course it’s because of the changes of the authors. I mean Geoff Johns (wrote Recharge) and Peter J Tomasi (author of this book) are 1000x better than Dave Gibbons who wrote the last 2 Green Lantern corps books, I’m so glad he got off the series because this series has so much potential now that Tomasi is on board!

This graphic novel was original and featured stupendous Green Lantern action. Kyle Rayner and Guy Gardner feature prominently in this ebook. There is an inclusion of John Stewart. A horrific villain by the name of Mongul graces these pages. The colours were used abundantly in this ebook.

The build up to the last issue fight is more exciting than the fight. The probably should have been bigger and more cinematic. It's Mongul. With 12 Fear Rings.

The origin of Black Mercy is good. I didn't particularly like the gift given to Mother Mercy at the end.

There’s a degree of heart in this book, especially the way it starts and shows the different members of the GLC and their personal lives. Then it switches over and things really get going. Lots of action, blood, heads flying, and deaths in this! Great art, if a bit busy at times though.

A good ensemble of Lanterns in this volume - with a welcome early focus on Kyle and Guy - and a promising villain in the form of Mongul with a Sinestro Corps ring. The resulting story feels a little underdeveloped, though; it would be nice if they found things to do with Mongul that didn't involve the Black Mercy. It's also pretty gratuitous with the gore. (B)

A changing of the guard here from the writing of Dave Gibbons to Patrick Gleason. Normally this could be catastrophic, however Gleason was more than equipped for the task and refuses to disappoint. The Green Lantern Corps series continues to only get better and better. More development with the events of new favorite characters as well as new and interesting storylines. It seems that not even dying can prevent Mongul from being a problem for a Green Lantern, and his legacy of brutality lives on in his son. Now that he has the ring(s) of a Sinestro Corps member, he poses an even greater threat than he already had. However, action and impending doom aren't the only great parts of this volume. The developing friendship between Kyle Rayner and Guy Gardner gets put on full display here as the two decide to move to Oa together permanently and leave Earth, no longer feeling at home there. This adds a certain element to their characters that tells the readers there is more to these two than "funny fool and torchbearer". And to cap off this volume was the very engaging Black Mercy story arc, which had a lot to say about the nature of the emotional spectrum and how it isn't always so black and white. There's is nothing here in volume 3 that isn't just as good if not better than what has come before it and is absolutely a must read.

Ring Quest has the Green Lantern Corps (and their ever increasing number of Lanterns that I can't keep apart) chase Mongul after he receives a yellow Sinestro Corps ring and decides that he must collect them all. I'm still not sold that "more rings = more power" but Mongul certainly is; he starts killing Yellow Lanterns left and right to get their rings (also not sure that is how it's supposed to work). Our GL B-Team have a fairly exciting outing that doesn't seem likely to matter much in the long run. Minus a surprisingly sad event in the last issue, nothing here is important or has any effect looking forward. Yeah, we see the Guardians of the Universe (those little blue ass-holes) see a spark in Violet light activity, but they proceed to brush it off and say, "No way are we going to have that whole 'Blackest Night' thing! We are super smart and have no worries." So, we get Guy Gardner being a egotistical ass, Kyle Rayner being a moody "artist" and whining, Natu is her in her classic "I'm better than you" mood, new Ion walks around with his head up his ass, and the rest of the lanterns aren't important, but they do they same things they always do, too. Really, we get no character or story progression, but we do get to see Mongul again and that's kind of cool. It's a neat little self-contained story that is essentially and isolated plot that could easily be skipped and you would never notice. I wouldn't skip it, but it's irrelevant so it wouldn't really matter if you did.

Another satisfactory collection of the adventures of the Green Lantern Corps.

This particular set of stories comes after the events of the Sinestro Corps war, in particular the rings of former users out there searching for the next threat to the Green Lanterns.

But these adventures are a side project as once again the development of the Green Lanterns is what these stories are all about. You get to see how Kyle is really developing a relationship with Soranik Natu, daughter of Thaal Sinestro. Guy Gardner is doing what he can to make a relationship with his formerly deceased girlfriend work.

Of course there is a pretty cool story that I like. Matris Ater Clementia, the hive mother plant known as the Black Mercy. Used and cultivated by supervillain Mongul and his son as a weapon that has the victim live in a state of contentment. Seeing the actual source and even more importantly knowing that its not as dangerous as it seems to be is a pretty amazing sight.

In green lantern ring quest Guy Gardner and his team are called to go and find the missing sinestro corps rings that have gone missing from many of dead sinestro corps soldiers. But when the call comes in about the missing rings when all the lanterns are on vacation. One of earths deadliest villains had felt the power of the sinestro corps rings and had a quest to conquer the universe with this great power of the sinestro croups rings to put great fear in to the people of the universe. That’s all I could tell in this story of the story.
In my opinion of this book it was great and had a lot of action. I love the action of the lanterns and how I got to see all their fears and what they worry about. When the epic fight scene when one lantern dies it’s a shock but it was great. Many of my favorite superheroes it might be Guy Gardner because of his courage that’s better than Hal Jordan because of his courage.

The Sinestro Corps War has taken a huge toll on the Green Lanterns, and many of the heroes of the war are trying to recover as many Yellow Power Rings as they can to bring them back to the Guardians. But one of the dying members of the Sinestro Corp lands on the planet of Mongul... a being that can easily go toe-to-toe with Superman... and give him a Power Ring?!?

This book is gory... and if you are squeamish at all, this book may gross you out, but the art is excellent as well as the build-up to the final confrontation with Mogul at the end. Thoroughly enjoyable story, great art... there is a reason that the Green Lantern Corps is one of DC's best books right now.

The wrap up of the Sinestro Corps war for Guy Gardener and Kyle Rayner results in them leaving Earth and moving to Oa. This was sort of a buddy cop-like comedy for the first two issues and was pretty enjoyable.

The main Ring Quest storyline involes several members of the Corps including: Guy, Kyle, Arisia, Sodam Yat, Soranik Natu, Iolande, and Bzzd. They're sent to stop the remaining yellow rings from finding new hosts. They run into Mongul's plans to rebuild his empire using the yellow rings and the now fear inducing Black Mercy plants. It got a bit jumbled,but was a solid story with an interesting end.

Because of Peter Tomasi's Batman and Robin series I have been following the last two years and a huge sale at LCS, I took a pre-52 revisit of a series I have not read yet. It is really closer to 4 stars than 3 but not quite 4 for me. I thought the main story was over shadowed by the much better back story of each Lantern and was let down when the back ground gave way to the evil villain. Once I would like the Guardians to give orders and the Lanterns just follow the orders. If someone could name a time during a mission and a Guardian said do this or that, the Lantern says ok that makes sense.
