Kyomi Rivers is running out of options. With eviction breathing down her neck, a little brother to raise, and a mother caught in the grip of addiction, desperation pushes her toward a high-paying surrogacy program—one she hoped would be simple. No ties, no drama.
But fate has other plans.
Yasiah Holt is powerful, wealthy, and cold-blooded when it comes to business—and women. But when a contract worth millions hinges on him “having a family,” he agrees to a surrogate arrangement… only to come face-to-face with the last woman he thought he’d ever see again.
Their past is messy. The chemistry is dangerous, and neither of them is ready for what comes next.
Old secrets. Unfinished business.
A deal that was supposed to be all business just turned personal.
In this enemies-to-lovers urban tale, love doesn’t come easy, and trust can be lethal.
Some deals can’t be undone, and some flames never die.
Yasiah don’t play when it come to his woman/baby mama I love how the friends have each other’s back they always come threw for one another Austin need to get his and so do the landlord because what why you didn’t let her explain herself.. anyone know a person have 30 days until there evicted duhhh .. but what’s up with her mom? She need to get right and raise her own child and not let let her daughter raise her child .. let her live her life I really enjoyed this book where is 2
Girl you cut that story off right when they was about to do the nasty. Girl you wrong for that. I been ready for them to get busy. I got a strong feeling that call about to be about the mom running away from rehab facility. You can’t save everybody. This lady lost her virginity, got pregnant, had a miscarriage then to end of being a surrogate all by that same man. This was a good quick read. Ready for book 2.
For the most part the storyline is okay. Kyomi needs to grow up and stop with all that attitude. I would understand if Yasiah was being an a hole but he’s not. Honestly I think it’s too much going on and the cliffhanger just didn’t make any sense to me
Kyomi’s attitude is blowing me. How you mad at a man you had a one-night stand with when you didn’t even care to know his name? You let him take your virginity, got pregnant, and now somehow everything is his fault. He wasn’t ready to be a father, understandable for a man you met one night, but how you blaming him for your miscarriage because you were stressed? Be serious.
Then she signs up to be a surrogate and finds out that very same man is the father … and she STILL doesn’t care to know his name. Child. The storyline was already weak, but her anger is so forced it becomes unbelievable. Nothing about her reaction makes sense because nothing about her situation was mature to begin with.
Kyomi needs to take accountability. A baby was the last thing she needed while she’s taking care of her 10-year-old brother, dealing with a drug-addicted mother, and barely keeping the bills paid. How about realizing YOU weren’t ready either.
Her whole attitude had me rolling my eyes. None of her anger matched the reality of the situation.
Definite page turner and keeps you locked in. Kyomi has been dealt a tough hand. She has so many responsibilities and the weight of the world on her shoulders. Yasiah is wealthy but seems unfulfilled and he’s living a life where enough is never enough. They share a history that happens to be brought to light when they cross each other’s path in a journey they’re forced to take together. Kyomi doesn’t make things easy for him she displays toughness and survival like a badge of honor. Together they are entertaining 😂😂 but soon a spark brings conflicting memories and desires to the forefront. As they continue the journey the past and people from it continuously disturb the little peace they have. It’s funny, real, and teaches forgiveness and letting go of the past. 10/10 . I’m headed to book 2
So… I ate this book up in one day! Pulled an all nighter for it! What I liked about this book was I couldn’t put it down! It definitely held my interest and I wanted to know what was next! It was a slow burn. Usually I love smut but this book is great without all the smut which means it is genuinely a really good book. The only reason I took a star off is because I feel the author may need a better editor. I found several places where sentences seemed to be missing, using the wrong pronouns accidentally (he/she) speaking and places where more details were needed…
However I am still invested in the series and I cannot wait to read book 2!
I’m almost done with book 3. I won’t say the book was horrible, but what I will say is the conversations within the story is very immature I felt like a child wrote this story. All the “don’t guess me” and every 5 mins “can I ask you a question?” it just seemed too immature for me its like it was a story line between kids. The responses they gave each other to a lot of the conservations just seemed it wasn’t thought out thoroughly. I chose to get this far bc I wanna know the outcome of this entire surrogacy thing not bc the story is to brag for.
Kymori didn't think when she signed up for the surrogacy who it was for. She didn't know surrogacy for the guy she gave her virginty to. Mya is jealous of Kymori because she didn't get chose. Mya better be careful because Kymori isn't going to be pregnant for much longer. Yasiah wasn't choosing anyway. Everyone keeps talking about them together and a beautiful couple. Dinner with his parents was a disaster. His father and his business partner kept flirting with her and his mana kept making snide remarks towards her. The sexual tension is going pop.
Now they ain't hunched all book but then they wanna do it at the end🙄🤣.....Im sick of them, they need to get it together for the sake of their unborn child because clearly they both feeling each other. I love how ride or die her best friend is, I lowkey hope she gets with one of Yasiahs good friends. I'm still trying to figure out why he doesn't just hire MiMi as his assistant that way he can keep an eye on her while she's pregnant.
This book was great read awaiting the next part!!!! I pray her mom gets it together very relatable story line!!! Great job ms j!!! I'm a chronological reader I wish all authors gave a list of how the book are supposed to be read even with stand-alone alones I know the all find a way to tie together
Read this book! It has twists and turns that will make you dizzy in love. She has a man who gone treat her RIGHT! Go for it honey and live your life like the q u e e n you are surrogate mama. Can’t wait to read book 2 to see how this ends. I already know. Read it and follow this special love story. Hold on to your love.
I gave it 3 stars because I have mixed emotions about it. The storyline was good but I feel like it’s being drug out and rushed at the same time. Idk I’m just gone wait to see how part 2 is. Even though it could’ve been a standalone. Overall it’s an okay read
Now im reading this book & how this surrogacy is taking place. Yall please neec to do research before writing on a topic. Like how the egg is slready fertilized not turkey basting sperm into a vagina.
This was a good book with the back-and-forth between the main character’s lasted too long. I feel like they could’ve been got over the whole thing cause we all knew and they were gonna get together and I don’t like the ending and where is part two
It's was great I didn't expect him to be the donor but it gives them a chance to have what was lost the first time. I just wish she get out her feelings. I wonder what done happen to momma can't wait for part two
Wow, I'm impressed. I didn't think it would be this good. I like all the characters. I like the buildup. I like how the plot is executed. I prefer longer stories but this was an entertaining quick read. Now onto part 2.
Great start thus far! I'm interested in what happened to Kyomi mama! Also why does Yasiah take so much from his father! Hopefully, Yasiah and Kyomi get their act together for the sake of their baby! Onto part 2!
I know you didn’t end that book like that!!!!! We finally getting to something good and of course here come a raggedy mama messing up everything! Ughhhhh!!!!!! I was so into the story I didn’t even notice it was the end of the book 😫😫😫
Now in the middle of legs trembling and a build up, the rehab calls and he want me to answer the phone? 🤨 That’s all I got for y’all right now lol Part 2 me nowwww
