beautiful delusions

O.m.g. w.t.f. did I just read? At the start of the book I had high hopes this would be great. The heroine was feisty and I enjoyed her representation in the beginning more than I did by the end. By the end I was left a little sour though. I appreciate the author trying to write a book about a heroine with mental illness, but I wish she had done more research 🔬 n the illness she chose. As someone who not only suffers from mental illness myself, but personally have not one but TWO family members with schizophrenia, this is not a correct representation of the Illness. I’m not sure what exactly she has but it definitely is not that. Now… the ending. The last few chapters feel super rushed. We go from them presenting her to their peers which happens fairly early in the relationship, to their graduation where they say goodbye ‘for good’ because Lucas is leaving to be married. Then it skips forward a year where the guys randomly come back and say they’ve been in “legal affairs”. We are left assuming it was Lucas dealing with leaving his betrothed, however it is never explained. Also why didn’t either of the other two come back for her in the year they were separated? Then they take her on vacation, declare their love for her and ask her to marry them. She accepts, with no questions as to where they’ve been, nothing.

This was a little meh. The premise was enough for me to read but I can’t get past that fucking the guys healed her schizophrenia (in a few more words than that). The school term only beinh a few weeks long? The guys humiliated her even knowing shed hate it and sfter the falling for her point, and a few pretty words and she went aling with it.
They his could probs have gotten another star if it was more fleshed out, like without the time skips, seeing the wedding being called off, etc.

Wow. Just wow. I was looking for a quick read before tackling a larger novel and came across this one as a freebie on Facebook. To say I devoured this book is an understatement. I’ve always been a one man kind of woman but GAHT DAMN I’d give myself over to the Thorpe brothers with absolute pleasure! Now don’t mind me as I add all of this author’s books to my immediate TBR.

ARC BOOK REVIEW
This book was utterly amazing. It was such a good and quick read, and I absolutely devoured the book. I want to say thank you to Maddison for giving me an ARC copy of Beautiful Delusions. It was like a breath of fresh air in a way.
The book was like nothing I have ever read before, the book centers on Sophia's perspective where she goes to a new school and meets this band of three brothers who are used to having a "pet" to play with for a semester. And they end up finding Sophia and deciding that she is perfect for them, the only one who has been fiesty and willing to fight back.
Beautiful Delusions is a short Novella, but it really does not feel like one. You get to know Sophia and the brothers; Lucas, Ezra, and Kyan. All unique and hot in their own ways. The smut in this book was like no other, and I also really enjoyed the plot, even if it wasn't a key factor in the book.
Another factor I loved about this book was all of the side characters, well, Sophia's delusions. I found them so funny and they just suited everything perfectly!
The ending was absolutely perfect. I was looking every which way for the three guys and then bam they just turned up and made everything even more perfect than it already was. I need to see more of these 4 characters and what they get up to in their life together.

This isn't my first read of Maddisons, but I found this free, so had to read it.
The main gripe I have is that I wish it could have been longer!! But this was only meant to be a teaser to let us see how Maddison writes and to get a feel for her - which is a great idea tbh! And the way she also added the females characters from her different series at the end aswell - also a brilliant idea as it gives us a choice of directions to go!
As for the novella..... Sophia and the Thorn Brothers.... Damn. A full book could so easily have been made out of these 4. I loved the way other characters are intertwined with this as well, like Candy, Angus, Mania and Cheshire Cat.
This is a perfect example of Maddisons writing and it should lead you easily to one of her other books, with a choice of tropes to suit your mood!
Again.... Just wish it could have been longer so we could have enjoyed the developing of their relationship a bit more! BUT at least it didn't go the other way and stretch a story out that should have finished chapters ago, but right?!

Lucas's is so lucky it ended the way it did. Messing with/withholding a schizophrenics meds could have ended extremely badly and not something that should be done. However, by the end when she mentions her therapist saying her delusions/hallucinations were a defence mechanism has me wondering was she a schizophrenic to begin with?
Either way this was pretty interesting. Her hallucinations were hilarious at times. Her connection to the guys comes across great even though it's a short book.
I do kinda wanna know what happened in that one year though 🤔 an entire year for "legal shit" that's ... interesting lol

difficult to rate
The story is well written and the FMC is well developed, the MMCs I don’t feel I know as well, this may be because it is written solely from Sophia’s pov.
The biggest issue with this book is that have is as many mentioned in the depiction of the fmc’s mental illness. Misdiagnosis is a real thing, and if that is what the author is attempting to say, it is not addressed well. But the implication that love is enough to rebalance the brain chemistry of a schizophrenic person is ridiculous and dangerous. A warning not to discontinue prescription medication is not sufficient.
I’ll also point out that many studies show proper treatment of mental health conditions significantly reduces the risk of self medication through illegal drug abuse. I cannot speak about schizophrenia directly, so I don’t know the accuracy of its portrayal in this book, however the overall belief of Lucas that prescription medication is no different then drug addiction perpetuates a dangerous stereotype.

Loved this book! Was lucky enough to meet Maddison at a book event and she recommended this to introduce her writing to me.
I was hooked from the start, it’s not often you have a feisty fmc with mental health issues. I think people need to realise though that she doesn’t have schizophrenia, but she classes her mind as schizophrenic because of the voices and characters she imagines. She created them as a coping mechanism rather than them appearing because she has schizophrenia. I’m bipolar so when I read about how she loved the painting I was like yes someone else sees the inside of their brain in art lol!
This is a great why choose because come on I don’t think any of us would turn down the thorn brothers but I am glad they explored her panic attacks and her friendship with Lou. All in all I loved it and can’t wait to read more by her

Beautiful Delusions was a new realm for me. I had never read a romance novella that also centers around a FMC with significant mental health struggles. As someone who struggles with mental health on a daily basis, it was lovely to see some sort of representation in this book. Some of the representation did not sit right with me but not in a way that made me super upset. Overall, it was a decent book but it wasn’t my cup of tea. You may read it and love it but for me, it is not on my re-read shelf.

⭐️ 4.5 teetering close to a 5. I had SUCH A GOOD TIME. 3 MMC’s 1 FMC.
I wanted a bit more spice but the authors writing was so good that it just didn’t matter at all. I will 1 million percent be reading the rest of her work 🤌🏼 this was a great intro into her writing style.
I loved all the characters and genuinely feel like
I’m going to miss them. And considering it’s only a novella, that’s quite an achievement!

I liked the idea behind the trio and their pets. I thought it was very fun and sexy! I don't know how I feel about how mental health seems to be referenced throughout the book but that might just be me. I think this kind of misrepresents how most people experience hallucinations/Delusions which makes me a bit uncomfy. Overall a very fun read and I loved the characters!

Well, i was not expecting a four some when i read it as about 3 love interests. But it is surprising ... captivating. Wish the author would develop more books around it. The boys were worth getting to know their personalities.

Raw and Emotional and oh so amazing!
I loved this book. I cried for this story. The mental struggles really hit home for me in the best and worst ways. The pain I felt reading these words and the relief I felt after feeling those feelings is indescribable. I can't wait to read another Madison Cole book if its anything like this one.

Not a bad book. Did NOT finish reading...too many things that were wrong. Wrong words that don't mean what I assume the author thinks they do. Also couldn't stand that the referee for a basketball game was constantly referred to as an umpire and explain to me how in one of the steamy scenes she has a dick in her mouth but clenches her teeth

I liked the book concept. I'm just not sure how I feel about the representation about mental disorders. Over all it was a good book and I like the "pets" and RH. I would still recommend it to other readers and let them form their own opinion.

I loved this book from the first page till the last, I hated that it had to end and wish I could have read more, got more insight into the throne brothers, how they became who they are and all in between, I couldn't put this down. Highly recommend.

I really enjoyed this book, it was a good story that developed well, few twists that tugged at the heart and enough dark and taboo to keep me hooked! I loved how something good came out of something that on paper sounded so degrading

This book had me laughing. Jazzie was hilarious. I’m glad she found a good friend in Lou. The guys were a lot and they all helped her in different ways and she also helped them too. For a minute I really thought they all left but they came back for her. This was a cute story.
