She sparkles for the world, but her truth lives hidden in the shadows—until he steps into the darkness to help set her free.
Tinsley Sinclair seems to have it all—the fame, the fans, and an empire built on years of nonstop touring and relentless hustle. But not everything that glitters is gold. To the world, she's the country pop superstar with a charmed life. The truth runs darker than the spotlight ever shows—and it's getting too heavy for Tinsley to carry on her own.
Jack Callahan never expected the stunning redheaded goddess that stopped him in his tracks to end up being his best friend's little sister—let alone fall for her. But one night changes everything … until he wakes to an empty bed and a shattered heart. Tinsley may think she can avoid him, but Jack isn't the kind of man who gives up on someone who needs him—especially when it's her.
When Tinsley's backed into a corner with no way out, Jack doesn't hesitate to step in. But love—like life—rarely plays by the rules.
After tragedy strikes, Tinsley escapes to Forrest Falls, searching for peace and a place to heal. For the first time, she finds somewhere that feels like home—or what she's always imagined home could be. But freedom comes with a price, and facing her past might be the only way to protect the future she's finally brave enough to want.
Holding On is a slow burn romantic suspense novel featuring a curvy country pop star heroine who has loved her brother's headstrong billionaire best friend her entire life. This dual POV book includes adult themes and language, and is the third book in The Callahans, a series of interconnected standalone novels that can be read alone but best enjoyed if read in order.

I came back and edited my review after sitting with my thoughts. I have read all the books in this series and I really love the Callahan family. This story is about the oldest (Jack Callahan) and his best friends little sister (Tinsley Sinclair.) I have loved Jack from book one. He is serious, takes charge, a billionaire and has those alpha male vibes. Tinsley is a country pop superstar who is ten years younger than him. These two have had a thing for each other for years but circumstances haven't yet allowed them to explore that relationship until Tinsley's world explodes.
I liked the idea of this but Tinsley irked me being 30 before finally telling someone about what was going on. And you’re that naive that you have no idea about power of attorney and all that. She was not drugged up like Brittney Spears so she should have looked into this stuff. My other issue was that it was so long that I had to keep putting it down and I felt like we didn't need to revisit so much stuff from the past in detail as it pertains to the Callahan's because we got all that in book one. The “surprise we have a new sister plot” I didn’t like either. I felt too much was repeated. There was no romance and relationship progression. I was disappointed as I liked the first two books. Also, no spice really.
Tinsley Sinclair feels like she never will be free. She have all, being a singer everyone loves her,but that's only part of her. There is a dark part that she's hidding to protect her loved ones. When the truth goes out,Tinsley needs help, and her brother best friend Jack will do everything to keep her safe. Will Tinsley finally get a life she longs for?
It was a tension filled read.I can't believe that some get away with that kind of abuse for so many years, without others suspect anything.Tinsley really have a hard life, and I was rooting for her get her HEA.The romance was sweet, but it took them forever to get together, was wondering did they date anyone else when they have this long break. For me it was a good story, but the secondary characters kind of pull my attention away, and in moments I felt like the story drag to long, could be shorter. That being said I enjoyed most of it,and the bad guys were really bad,the suspense really keept me on my toes.A suspense with romance.
Thank you publisher for my arc,my review is honest and my own.
Holding On is for readers who love that ‘Right Person, Wrong Time’ type of angst story theme. Liz Colbert delivered a tear-jerker of a romance, sans 3rd-act break-up.
Tinsley, a Country Pop Star, had one of those celebrity lives that was all glamorous on the outside, but it was all for show. Behind it all was absolutely horrific. The scenes with Tinsley’s family were heart-wrenching, but they were soon smoothed over for me once Jack—her brother’s best friend—was in the picture.
I love that Jack was not only protective but supportive, yet empowered Tinsley as well. What a special story Holding On was.
Thank you to Crowns and Chaos PR and Author Liz Colbert for the gifted e-copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book is the third one in The Callahans series. I really like series with interconnected characters because we see them in the previous books and I like to read their story.
This book follows Kinsley Sinclair, a country pop star and Jack Callahan, a billionaire who own Lux, the record label of Kinsley.
They always gravitate in the same circle for decades because Kinsley is the little of Wells who is Jack’s partner and best friend.
Kinsley always had a crush on Jack and the same goes for Jack. They had the chance to spend one night together but Kinsley left before he can wake up because she thinks her darkness will taint Jack.
In true Liz’s fashion, this book is yes a romance one but I think it’s more a romantic suspense. I really like this theme in books.
I want the future readers of this book to be aware of the triggers warning because this book touches serious topics as domestic violence, assault, grief and much more. But the author has that touch that makes it flow so easily. Sometimes it was hard to read because I’ve got attached to the characters.
I really liked to see each character’s development and how they navigate through grief, violence, new friends and family.
Oh my god, this one is heartbreaking, I expected this to be full of angst, and twists and to be worried about the characters like in the previous book, but oh my god, nothing prepared me for this to be so heartbreaking and gut clenching and also so beautiful and full of hope
The author is gifted with the way she manages to make her characters full of depth and layers, Tinsley’s story is one of the toughest, saddest, and powerful I’ve read in my life, I mean, my girl didn’t get a break soon enough 😭💔 it was hit after hit after hit her whole life!! Because the person who was hurting her was hurting her since she was a kid, and it didn’t stop until two decades later, and reading her flashbacks to when her life was hard was so raw and painful because she didn’t deserve any of that 😭 my heart broke for her so many times and in so many levels, and when the thing that made her go stay with Jack happened, I was ready to pick a fight because I just wanted to dive inside the book and take Tinsley with me and protect her at all costs 💔💔💔💔 and of course I was so sad when that happened because I literally wasn’t expecting that and it hurt so bad!!
But luckily Jack Callaghan was there ladies and gentlemen, and he was there to help Tinsley in every single way she needed to be helped with, not only he helped her to gain her freedom back, but he helped her to make her feel safe again, to make her feel strong and powerful again, thanks to Jack and all The Calvary, Tinsley regained her strength and trust and confidence and power and she was able to saved herself too and it was one of the most beautiful things to read ❤️🩹🥹
I mean, I cried a lot during the whole book, and even when I knew there was a HEA, that dint stop me to cry and being sick worried about all of them because I NEED them to be happy after all the things they had to get through, and of course I cried with the last chapter and epilogue because of course I did ❤️ reading Tinsley and Jack being finally happy was the best reward ever and I loved reading all the family characters together too! And I loved Cami! Shout out to my girl Cami because I knew from the moment I met her she would be one of the best characters 🙂↔️✨
Now, even when I know my sanity would be again compromised, I need the next book now!! That little sneak peak got me hooked and now I need more!! Pretty please ✨
This was absolutely my favorite book of the series thus far! I really enjoyed Jack as a character. He was my favorite parts of the book, and the way he loved absolutely everyone in his life. He was such a big golden retriever.
Tinsley was a really relatable character, even though she had an unrelatable job.
I felt like I never knew where the story was going to go in the best way possible. There was so many twists and turns and I was always on the edge of my seat because life never really calmed down for these two until the very end. (again in the best way possible)
I really enjoy Liz's writing style. It is very bingable, easy to read and truly so well done in details. I am always eager to start a Liz book and then once I do, I'm hungry to get all the story.
Absolutely recommend this one! I hope this series eventually gets audiobooks, because I'd eat those up!
The vibes: -Romantic Suspense -Slow Burn -Small Town Escape -Country Pop Star x Billionaire -Protective MMC -Tragedy & Healing -Found Family -Age Gap -Brother's Best Friend
This book was an arc read that was given to me. It was an interconnected series that could be read by itself. I didn't read any of the previous books but it didn't matter to me because it wasn't where you were missing anything from the previous couples. I would definitely reread this but this book was real and relatable due to people experiencing the traumas and domestic violence and abuse. It was where it people who have had this experience could personally relate to or if you haven't then you might have a friend, family member, etc. experience DV or death of a loved one. It was where I would reread it. But even though there had dark themes, it wasn't overly overwhelmed. It was written and read in a lighter tone and manner.
one more romance which had so many layered themes in it.Highly recommend to check trigger warnings before reading it. Please forgive me for forgetting the names of our MCs, but their chemistry did feel a bit artificial to me at the beginning but the feeling subsided as I went on reading it.Our girl is a countryside superstar and our boy is her broether's best friend and obviously rich to the power infinity. I really loved reading the found family and the book really became better and better in the second half with all the drama at the countryside.
This book was something else.. 🤭 Now if you don't like slow paced books then this one is not for you. There were at least two times where I was like "okay this would be a good ending" and then I checked to see I still had quite a bit left of the book. Here you follow Tinsley, a famous singer, and her brother's millionaire best friend, Jack. There was so much that happened before they even got together. I enjoyed the balance that they had. One of them was in a toxic situation and struggling through it alone. And the other had probably one of the most welcoming families I've read about
This books holds a special place in my heart. My niece lived in Nashville and died in a tragic car accident. There was just some things in this books that reminded me on my niece. Of course, it wasn’t a good day when I got the news. Tinsley is a resilient young lady dealing with her abusive step father who manages her singing career. Through all the heartaches, grief, abuse, Tinsley will finally have was she deserves with someone who has been there and they both were just holding on…
❤️❤️She is my present and future, and the greatest honor of my life will be to love and take care of her for the rest of my days.❤️❤️
Holding On is a slow burn romantic suspense novel featuring a curvy country pop star heroine who has loved her brother's headstrong billionaire best friend her entire life. Finally the story of the mysterious Jack Callahan and boy do we get a romantic suspense that I did not see coming. And sweet Tinsley girl, I fell in love with her. What seemed to the world as a celebrity with a glamorous life on the outside once the door was closed was anything but the glamorous life she had. What she went through with her mother, stepdad and his sister and the events that occurred were absolutely horrific for her and my heart broke each time . I was so thankful when she was finally out from under their thumb. But the road was still a long one with how Rick’s character was in this book. God what an awful human being the was. I think I cringed with every interaction that Tinsley had with him, and the audacity that her mother had to not believe her with what had been happening over the years. Oh I was so livid in that moment. But no one knew, she was protecting her brother because if he found out who knows what Rick would have done to him when things come to light if all the things he had done over the years.
There were so many events that occurred in this book that were heart wrenching the loss of multiple persons lives being taken, especially Fiona, oh my heart hurt the fight she gave.
But once everything came to light with Jack and her brother Wells, it truly was so heartwarming, watching everything be built back up after everything was left in crumbles because of Rick, Debbie Jo and Kane. I loved watching everyone’s relationship evolved after everything that occurred in this entire book and the love that Jack has for Tinsley. It’s just so amazing. I love their relationship and that they are finally getting their happy ever after.
It was giving the vibes of ‘right person, wrong time’ but there relationship was ever evolving throughout the years until then were ready to take the leap.
I love that Jack was not only protective but supportive, yet empowered Tinsley as well. What a special story Holding On was.
I fell I love with the Callahan Calvary yet again with how excepting they are to every new human that is brought into this family. But now what I didn’t expect was CAMI I never saw this coming here I thought it was going to be Tinsley’s in disguise how I was thinking this no clue but I am so so happy for the ever growing Callahan crew.
And miss Harlow and Ryan Callahan are next and why do o think this is going to be better yet with their ‘situationship’ that they have going. Book 4 is coming this fall and there are still two more Callahan’s Liam and Finn.
Have you ever sat down to read a book and knew from the dedication this book was going to have you in a chokehold?
This book is that for me! ♾️✨
I already knew Jack was special and his draw to Tinsley would be indescribable but whoa was it so much more. The way Liz captured every detail of the heartbreak, the tragedy, the connection, the HEALING… I don’t know how she does it but I am here for every single word.
The heartbreak and pain of this book hits so hard. This book is heavier than books 1 & 2 but oh my goodness does it add to the depth of the Callahan family and their people. The way Liz handles these tough topics is completely beautiful. Grace, love, protection, fierceness. She has woven the most stunning story of resilience and finding your voice, with a village behind you, when you thought silence was all you would ever hear.
Jack & Tinsley are something special. Brother’s best friend and business partner. 10 year age gap and a secret that will shatter even the hardest heart. The unwavering devotion and protection Jack brings to Tinsley at the drop of a hat is everything she needs as her world is shattering all around her. The way he helps her heal… be still my heart! Their connection is so much deeper than romance, it’s the type of connection that rewires your DNA.
Jack is our steady, protective billionaire MMC who has fallen head over heels for his best friend & business partner’s little sister, but can’t cross that line right now. He owns Lux, where Tinsley is a recording artist. He loves her in secret and in the ways he shows up for her. When Tinsley’s hidden world comes to light Jack will stop at nothing to make sure she is safe.
Tinsley has lived her life in the limelight, but a huge part of her life is also hidden. Only her cousin knows the truth and when her brother and Jack find out heads are going to roll. However, her troubles run deeper than any of them realize.
The intricate way Liz wrote Tinsley tormented, and Jack’s guilt left me completely gutted. There were so many times I held my breath hoping what was about to happen wouldn’t, but the rawness of each unimaginable moment left me gushing at the realness of emotion, togetherness of family, and utter awe of devotion.
There are very hard topics addressed in this book, but the strength that shines through is one we should all hope to gain someday, no matter what is going on in our lives.
I felt every emotion within these pages and THE TWIST!!! Oh boy, I did not see that coming but I am here for every bit of it!! Like WHOA! The way this family loves and accepts is like no other. They are truly magic. There is also another intimate secret that left me in a complete puddle. And The way Jack helps Tinsley work through the lies she’s believed all her life… ahhh we all need a Jack in our lives!
I cannot say this enough, Liz’s words are powerful, special and complete crack. Her talent blows me away. The depth of the characters she’s created has left me begging to jump through the pages and join this family. I can’t get enough of these characters. Their truth. Their depth. Their connection. Their heart. There is magic between these pages and I can’t wait to see where Liz takes us next. I couldn’t read this book fast enough.
Thank you to LoveNotesPR for the opportunity of reading this as an arc.
Overall, the writing was good for the book and it was very atmospheric. However, I have a lot of ngative thoughts and spoilers under the spoiler cut. And oh boy is it a rant!!!
.
Again, thank you to LNPR for the opportunity to read this book.
Holding On is different from the first two books in the Callahan series, it's layered with so much pain, heartbreak, it's darker with a high level of emotional depth. It’s a true emotional rollercoaster all the way through. While this story might be darker, Liz does an amazing job at balancing out the hard stuff, with building up the suspense, and throwing in the humor with sibling chats and get togethers at just the right time.
Our FMC, Tinsey Sinclair who’s a famous country pop star, who’s adored by so many, shines bright when on stage. But off stage, she hides from the world, drowning in pain that is almost unbearable. All she wants is to be FREE, free to do what she wants, work when she wants and how she wants, but is tied to contracts that she didn’t even want.
Then there's our MMC, Jack Callahan, part co-owner of LUX. Oof this man, Jack is a single 40 year old man who is fiercely protective to those who he loves. His love for Tinsley is calm, quiet and patient. It’s always been there all these years hidden and held down, until darkness finds its way to Tinsley and he refuses to hide it anymore.
Holding On is a small town, romantic suspense slow burn with yearning and tension well over a decade. The angst and longing with these two was everything. Soft, quiet moments build into something that is so deeply emotional that it's truly beautiful. I’m still blown away by how Liz depicted these scenes as well as the hard scenes that were so truly heartbreaking. Especially when tragedy strikes and Tinsley escapes and Jack helps bring her to Forrest Falls, to help her heal and be her safe space and even more so to try and be a couple.
Liz shows strength through survival, not being silenced. Learning to speak your truth and hold your own and taking your pain and using it as courage to stand up and fight for yourself. This is what I love about books, and reading these stories, because they are truly so much more than just romance. They are must reads and Holding On is a must read!
Thank you to Liz and Lovenotes for allowing me to be an early reader.

Holding On by Liz Colbert completely stole my heart. This story is emotional, layered, and so beautifully written that I felt every single high and low right alongside the characters.
Tinsley Sinclair is such a powerful heroine. On the surface she shines. She is famous, adored, and larger than life. But behind the spotlight, she is carrying pain that feels almost unbearable.
Watching her slowly unravel the truth she has been hiding from the world broke my heart in the best way. Her vulnerability feels real and raw, especially as she searches for a place where she can finally breathe and just be herself.
And then there is Jack Callahan. This man. He is steady, protective, and fiercely loyal without ever trying to overpower her voice. His love is not flashy. It is patient. It is intentional. It is the kind of love that stands in the dark and refuses to leave. The history between them adds such depth to their connection. You can feel that he has loved her for years, even when everything between them feels complicated and messy.
The slow burn is absolutely perfect. The tension, the longing, the quiet moments where everything hangs unspoken in the air. It all builds into something that feels earned and deeply satisfying. When tragedy strikes and Tinsley escapes to Forrest Falls, the story takes on this tender, healing quality that made my chest ache. That small town setting feels like a warm embrace, a safe place where broken pieces can start to fit together again.
This book is about more than romance. It is about survival. It is about finding your voice after being silenced. It is about learning that holding on does not mean clinging to pain, but choosing love and courage when it would be easier to run.
Holding On is heartfelt, romantic, and full of emotional depth. Liz Colbert delivered a story that lingers long after the last page, and I am still thinking about Tinsley and Jack. If you love slow burn romance with real stakes, strong emotion, and a hero who shows up every single time, this book is an absolute must read.
I received this book from the author as an ARC for an honest review.
Holding On by Liz Colbert is the third book in “The Callahans” series that follows the stories of the Callahan siblings and their close friends.
To start off with I have not read the first two books and this is the first of Liz Colbert’s books I have read.
The plot follows the story of a pop singer Tinsley Sinclair who from far looks like she has it all. However we see the truth of her troubled life - bound by her abusive step father and an emotionally absent alcoholic mother. Jack Callahan is her brother’s best friend and her childhood crush. A millionaire businessman who loves her from far and helps her get through her tough times.
What worked for me :
A good plot, some nice supportive characters who support the MCs and help to move the story ahead
A good ending and closure of all open issues.
Although I have not read the other two books prior to this, wherever the previously introduced characters are brought in the author has given a brief background story. This helps those who read this book as a stand alone..
What did not work for me :
Too many characters in the story. I agree the MC has a large family of siblings, but too many secondary characters were brought it and I found it detracted focus from the main story of the MCs.
First 25% of the book speaks about Tinsley’s abuse at the hand of her step father and his sister. I found this part very difficult to read.
Not much of suspense as we already know who the main villain is
Not much romance between the MCs. It's like they always liked each other and suddenly one day they are together. No flirtation, no chasing, no emotional scenes which are usually part of a romantic script. So this was a bit disappointing to me.
All in all worth reading the book. I would rate the book 3.5 rounded off to 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
"Holding On" is the third installment of the Callahan series by Liz Colbert and first and foremost; this book will rip your heart out and as a personal opinion- mentally be prepared for an emotionally, powerful pull apart layer of a story of Tinsley and Jack. It is a slow burn with tension and angsty vibes all throughout which is how to pull on a girls heart strings.
Most od the first act is Tinsley and her story, past and present and its alot unpack. I would not recommend breezing through it and take care of your mental health as you read it if abuse is a trigger.
Tinsley is a fierce FMC; where Jack is a golden retriever that protects what is his, even if it takes time to get there: he does not stop and Tinsley's walls are meant to come crishing down if it is Jack Callahan. The plot has a well written, character developement who are supported and the scts are laid out even if a bit worthly- there is a reason why this is a romantic suspense novel so prepare yourselves for a length book.
The quote "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres..." is the epitome of the story and pretty confident that Liz wrote this entire plot based around this quote; change my mind.
In times of darkness, a light is at the end of the tunnel is the best way to explain this book because this FMC needed the win to find herself again and our MMC comes from a pedigree where they fight for the woman in their lives.
Are you ready to watch Jack Callahan melt for the women in his life? This releases on March 2nd.
What to Expect: ✨ Romantic Suspense ✨ Protective Billionaire MMC ✨ Curvy Country Pop Star FMC ✨ Small Town Romance ✨ It Was Always Him ✨ Mutual Pining ✨ Brother’s Best Friend ✨ 10-Year Age Gap ✨ Right Person, Wrong Time ✨ Found Family ✨ No Third-Act Breakup
Holding On was given to me by Love Notes PR as an ARC. This book was written by Liz Colbert. It is book three in the interconnected series The Callahan’s. The stories are stand alone novels, but I do recommend that you read the series in order to develop character foundation. If you move this series to the top of your TBR you will not be disappointed. Every twist and turn is worth it.
Liz Colbert has truly knocked this romantic suspense read out of the park! Jack and Tinsley’s story is a roller coaster. I recommend that the reader check the trigger warnings. There are heavy subjects depicted in this book. Tinsley has been through a lot since she was a child. She has never been allowed to live her life for herself. Finally taking her power back, this story shows how Tinsley takes control of her career and her life. This was one of my favorite elements in the storyline.
Tinsley has basically loved Jack her entire life, despite the fact that he is her brother's best friend and off limits. The chemistry and connection was clear. Even though Tinsley was surrounded by people all of the time no one was aware of her struggles. When it comes to light Jack becomes fiercely protective of her. Every time I turned a page there was a new plot twist. Holding On is an emotional read. You will feel every happy, sad, scary, and empowering emotion that Jack and Tinsley encounter. They face some incredibly difficult situations and the love they share still shines through.
I cannot leave this review without mentioning the Calvary and the Brigade. This group of siblings is so tight knit. Their partners and friends round out the group beautifully. You don’t mess with any of the Callahan’s or anyone that they love. With every addition to this group, it just expands like the new addition was always meant to be part of them. I will be impatiently waiting for the next book in the series. I would love to see a spin off series develop with the friends in the Brigade. As a complete fan of this family, I would love to see the expansion.
I would just like to start out by saying this book definitely has some trigger warnings, so please make sure you check them out.
This is the third book in “The Callahans” series. I have not read the other two books so I’m meeting everyone for the first time but I think it’s considered an interconnected series that you can read as a standalone.
Tinsley Sinclair is an American sweetheart. A country singer, who appears to have the perfect life. But looks can be deceiving. Tinsley has been battling with a darkness for so long, she can’t see a way out. But one thing that has stayed true for her through all the years of hardship is her feelings for Jack, her brothers best friend.
Jack Callahan is a billionaire, and started a company with Tinsley’s brother Wells. He never expected to fall for Wells’ sister the way he has.
When Tinsley is backed into a corner and can’t reach her brother, the first person she calls is Jack to keep her safe. And this man springs into action immediately to save her. And for the first time since she was a child, she feels safe and cared for.
But she she has some commitments she can’t get out of and unfortunately that’s when another tragedy happens. So, she escapes to Jack’s hometown of Forrest Hills to get away from the public eye and heal.
There are so many layers to this book, and it’s so much more than just a love story. Tinsley has such a harder life then you could ever begin to imagine but yet her light is still able to shine through. She is such a strong person, but yet is able to show a different side to Jack because he makes her feel safe.
This is a story of darkness, but of also finding hope and love.
I don’t think I can adequately put into words all the emotions this story made me feel. But it’s my first 5 ⭐️ read of the year.
Stars ✨🌟✨🌟✨: keep in mind the star review is based off of MY interests!
Liz Colbert did an amazing job on Holding On, part of the Callahan series. It’s a standalone but it is less confusing if you read books one and two (I have not and it only got a little confusing with the character names their backstories).
Word of warning ⚠️ , Holding On does discuss domestic violence, tragedy and substance abuse. Liz Colbert was very descriptive with most scenes, evoking strong emotions: disbelief, anger, love and belonging. As I was the characters, I felt the falling in love, the abuse, the terror.
Tinsley’s story is not one for the faint of heart. She is broken down and beat until she has no choice but to listen. Family is supposed to help and support you, but hers is what’s dragging her down. Her whole life is a contract: dating, tours, security. I just wanted to jump onto the page and punch her uncle SO MANY TIMES!
Thank god for Jack. He’s the protector. Their connection from the start is electric. The slow burn builds until you can’t take it anymore.
I did feel that some of the twists were thrown in with not enough backstory. Small town coffee girl? Tinsley telling her brother Wells about dating his best friend Jack?
I loved the natural breaks, they kept me very interested and made it hard for me to put the book down! ….. just….. one …. more…. Chapter 🤣. I lost this battle.. many times!
You should read this if you enjoy: multiple timelines, small amount of 🌶️🌶️, romantic suspense, singer x billionaire, best friends sister, slow burn.
Holding On is about: emotionally rebuilding after tragedy, finding love and trusting and learning to stand up for yourself.
Thanks liz Colbert and Crowns and Chaos for the gifted advanced copy! Highly recommend reading and I look forward to reading the first two in the series!
Liz Colbert got me hooked on this book from the start. That prologue kept me on my toes the entire time with that dramatic episode. Holding On was heartbreaking and soul crushing on both timelines - past and present till the moment they align. Tinsley's situation was so complicated and believable. And my heart hurt for the way she was manipulated all her life and she couldn't feel safe to confess even to her brother. And when he spoke about his suspicions that escalated fast but led to Tinsley finally asking for help. Tinsley was so smart and strong, and resilient, a true survivor. And she needed a little help to finally get her life in the order she needed. Loved it that despite everything she had two friends who cared for her and loved her for herself. And they supported her to get her life back and to explore her life long crush on Jack Callaghan. Jack was such an enigma, the ultimate alpha male with a heart of gold for those he loves. And his attraction for Tinsley made him even a better man. I was swooning big time on caring and loving Jack. Jack and Tinsley's story was melting my heart and I loved it. The suspense line in Holding On was even bigger and so better than the last one. I loved the group chats and the girls group gathering. Tinsley got the help she needed to heal not only physically but also mentally. And I was a little surprised about Cami's identity and loved it how she was embraced in the family. Jack and Tinsley's happily ever after was deserved and tied all the loose ends. The epilogue was chef's kiss and after that sneak peak I can't wait for the next Callaghan brother to get his story.
Thanks to the author for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of this book.
Holy intense, Batman. This story had big emotions. Big drama. Big tears. Big romance. Big trauma. Horrible parents. Fun group chats. Big surprises. It was so good!
Tinsley is a country superstar.
Jack is a billionaire.
They have known each other forever. He is her brother's best friend. There has been a spark. There was almost a night. Then fears got in the way. Then things are exposed. Changes happen. He gets protective. She gets to feel safe. And happy starts to happen. Then drama.
Tinsley. Oh, sweet Tinsley. She deserved so much better than her mother gave her. She deserved for her stepfather to never have existed. But life doesn't care about what is deserved. And so she has endured truly terrible things. But she doesn't let it dull her light, she just has to pretend sometimes. I loved watching her start to heal and build a true, real family. She goes through a lot of hard. Which makes us cheer even louder for her good. For the love she has.
Jack is a classic growly, grumpy, protective silver fox. He has had a crush on Tinsley for a few years. And it is adorable. I love his relationship with his family, the window into his family's past and how absolutely gone for Tinsley he becomes. Swoon.
They are so sweet together. I loved the way they support each other and the way they talk about their relationship. I was just so happy for their happy.
I really enjoy Liz's books. There is also good drama/suspense and the characters are delightful.
Make sure to read the content warnings. This one has some serious & difficult topics.
I received this as an ARC and am so, so grateful. This had zero impact on my review.
If you like slow burn romance, this is one to get. It's a slow build up of Jack and Tinsley. I didn't read the previous books of the series but I felt this could be stand alone. (Although if you don't want to know which sisters of Jack got paired up, then read the beginning of the series. As other reviews noted, there is abuse that Tinsley had to go through over the years. She had very limited control over her career and finances. She has no choice but to do what her stepfather who also manages her career wants her to do as he threatened her brother's life over the years. Jack who grew up with her brother pretty much fell in love with her at first sight Throughout the book, Jack and Tinsley are doing their own thing with family or event. but meet up once awhile at an event. Once he finds out about what goes on with Tinsley, he has her moving with him and is very protective over her.
What I like about the book: while this maybe a trope of best friend's sister, I like that it's not the type where the brother gets overbearing and overprotective over his best friend dating his sister. I like Jack's bonding with his family and welcoming a suprise. I would read the other parts of the series just to get to know his family more. For the family bonding/community, I'd give it 4 stars It would more if it was more fast paced and more scenes with Jack and Tinsley together to feel their chemistry. And Tinsley to just get a plan sooner than later about her brother finding out about the step father, he's rich, and mostly out of the country so could have hired body guards over the stepfather's threat.
4.5 ⭐️Read First I want to thank the author Liz Colbert and Love Notes PR for an eARC of this book.📕 I loved the romance between Tinsley and Jack throughout this book and I also loved how he protected her also throughout this book. Loved Tinsley’s brother Wells and how he loved and protected his sister and was also best friends with Jack I also like Fiona and Tinsley’s friendship in this book too. I hated Rick Tinsley’s manager and step father and all he did to Tinsley and also other people in her life too. Hated Debbie Jo Rick’s sister and all she did too. I loved Tinsley and her cousin Allie’s friendship throughout this book and they were also there for each other. Loved Jack’s family and how they were there for both Jack and Tinsley throughout this book. I hated Tinsley and Wells mother through out this book and how she treated her kids but I was glad when she decided to get help in the book. 📕 Loved how Tinsley wanted to protect her brother and mom from Rick in this book. I also Hated Kane in this book and what he did to Tinsley and other people in this book . Hated Roman and how he treated Tinsley in this book. Loved Jack and his siblings group chat in this book. Loved the romance and suspense throughout this book and also the twists and turns too. I liked the side characters in this book too. And I was happy when all the bad guys were taken care of at the end. This book made me sad, mad and happy throughout it. I was so happy that Jack and Tinsley got a happy ending together at the end and I can’t wait to read other books by Liz Colbert and I also recommend this book.
Liz Colbert had me hooked from the very beginning of her new book, Holding On, where the prologue ended ominously for one of the characters.
I liked how Liz mapped out her story by adding flashbacks from the past mingled with the present day. The flashbacks set the tone for what’s to come, and it’s where Jack Callihan sees the woman who made his breath stall.
Tinsley Sinclair is a famous singer with all the perks, including a famous boyfriend. Behind the scenes, her world is a different story; it’s cruel and controlling. It was difficult to read what she had to put up with. It had my stomach twisted in knots by the triggering content. What got me through those moments was knowing the perfect man was waiting in the wings for her, her brother, Wells's best friend, Jack.
Tinsley and Jack’s chemistry is heart-pounding and beautiful, but what made me sad was the years they were apart after Tinsley crept away the morning after the night she and Jack had shared their first kiss, and she slept in his protective arms. She had a good reason to do it; Tinsley had to protect the ones she loved.
This book was never a dull moment as minor plots wove their way through the main story. There were elements of mystery, suspense, heartbreak and drama. This book was a whirlwind of emotions, tempered by the love of family, friends, and the couple you’ll love.
As this is the third book in The Callahans series, I have yet to read the first two books, and I look forward to reading them and the next instalment in this wonderful series.
✨This book is one of those emotional reads that slowly wraps around your heart. It’s tender, heavy at times, but filled with quiet moments of comfort and healing that make the journey worth it.
💕Tinsley’s character really stood out to me. Her life in the spotlight contrasts so strongly with the private struggles she’s trying to survive, and that emotional duality made her feel real. 🥹The story doesn’t glamorize fame, it shows how isolating it can be, especially when you’re carrying pain you don’t know how to share. Watching her slowly learn that she doesn’t have to face everything alone was one of the most powerful parts of the book.🫶🏽
Jack is such a steady presence throughout the story. He’s protective without being overbearing and caring without trying to control the situation. 🫠The way he supports Tinsley, giving her space when she needs it and strength when she doesn’t have her own made the romance feel healthy and sincere. ❤️🩹Their relationship isn’t built on grand dramatic gestures, but on quiet loyalty and emotional safety, which honestly made it feel more meaningful.🤌🏽
Seriously this book broke my heart. I cried so much lol😭. It was just soo good. There were a few parts that felt a bit stretched, but it fits the emotional tone of the story. 🔥If you enjoy protective heroes, wounded but resilient heroines, and stories about healing through love and stability, this one is worth picking up.🙌🏽
Thank you to the Author Liz Colbert and LoveNotesPR for the opportunity to read this ARC!🩵
Tinsley is a country superstar. She has been in the spotlight most of her life and loves performing for her fans, but there are issues as well. Her manager is not who he lets others think he is. Her manager also happens to be her abusive step father. He has no limits when it comes to getting what he thinks he deserves and that is all of Tinsley’s fame and money.
Jack is Tinsley’s brother's best friend and co-owner of Luxe. Luxe is the company that Tinsley records under, but no one suspects what her direct manager is or isn’t doing. Jack has liked Tinsley for years. When they first met she was just his friend's little sister, but feelings began to develop over time and Tinsley feels the same way.
One night things get really bad and Jack is called in to help protect Tinsley, but that isn’t where things end. There are a series of events that happen and each one gets worse than the other.
Eventually Tinsley moves to Forrest Falls with Jack, but things don’t stop happening. Tinsley decides this isn’t what her life should be like and she should be happy. Jack helps TInsley take back her light and to help put away everyone responsible for the problems they have caused.
Liz!!! Absolutely amazing. I loved TInsley and the resilience she always seemed to show. I love how Jack and the Cavalry were always there for her and how they accepted her in without question. There were other parts, side stories, that happened as well, but I don’t want to reveal too much.
All I can say is I cannot wait to continue The Callahans series!
Liz Colbert shows exactly how good a prologue can be and how powerfully it can be used. I was immediately hooked from the opening pages, it was perfect.
The twists and turns in this book are so well done. Several storylines continue from the first two books, and it’s thrilling to move further along with them, getting closer to the overall conclusion while still fully enjoying the ride Liz takes you on.
Jack and Tinsley are so stinkin’ cute. I loved how Jack is straightforward with his feelings without ever overwhelming her. The man is completely gone for her, and it’s adorable. Tinsley, on the other hand, has been through years of absolute hell, and my heart broke for her more than once.
One of my favorite things about Liz Colbert’s writing is how real her characters feel. Not just the main characters, but everyone. You feel like you truly know them, like they’re your friends, which makes you deeply invested in both the heartbreak and the triumphs. The emotional payoff is incredibly rewarding.
The Callahan family once again shows up in the best way, and I loved every second of it. They are one of my all time favorite book families!
This story kept me on my toes, broke my heart, healed it, and then did it all over again only to leave me even more satisfied by the end. Jack and Tinsley’s journey toward healing and love was beautiful, emotional, and so worth it. This is romantic suspense at its finest, and I couldn’t put it down.
This book!!! Right from the Prologue until the last chapter I didn’t want to stop reading, and when I wasn’t currently reading I was thinking about it!
There is something about the way Liz writes about the Callahan family that always makes instantly dive back into their world, and I can never get enough of their town and residents of Forrest Hills. The story follows Jack and Tinsley’s relationship, and it is filled with emotions, trauma and growth. Tinsley is a very complex character that Liz captures wonderfully! I sympathized, rooted for and was amazed in the strength that Tinsley portrays throughout the story.
And there’s Jack… oh Jack! I think my new favourite Callahan brother! The way he supports Tinsley but also allows her to grow and find her own two feet is someone everyone needs. You know he will be there in an instant but also give space if needed! They made a perfect couple who were comfortable enough to show their true colours and not feel guilt when they needed to rely on each other.
The story was relatively fast paced, didn’t feel like it ever lulled, unless when it felt right to give the extra details that we are all dying to know. And the family group text! Always my favourite part of Liz’s novels. The family’s commitment to each other, but also the humour that comes across in their conversations always has me laughing!
Thank you to Liz Colbert and Love Notes PR for the ARC! Keep the Callahan’s coming!!!
