Here we find such veteran science fiction writers as Harlan Ellison (the classic “I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream”), Robert Silverberg, and the collaborative team of Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle contributing tales that mingle terror and futurity in a vivid amalgam. From the other direction, weird fictionists Charles Beaumont and Nancy Kilpatrick have generated stories with a similar fusion.

But this volume gains strength from an array of stories written specifically for it, by such leading writers as John Shirley, Darrell Schweitzer, Stephen Woodworth, and the recently deceased James Gunn and William F. Nolan.
