The Camel Hair Coat is a story that grabs your attention from the very first chapter and doesn’t let go. At its center is Samantha, a character who is both mysterious and refreshingly open to love. Her complexity makes her fascinating to follow—she’s strong in her independence, passionate in her relationships, and grounded by her love for her career in fashion, her travels, and even her dog.

The novel’s romantic core lies in her relationship with Steve, which is written with passion and intensity. Their connection is bold and undeniably sexual, with scenes that pulse with energy. While Steve often matches her fire, there’s the lingering sense that he could give even more, leaving readers both satisfied and curious about where their bond might go.

What makes this book so enjoyable, though, is how it never becomes predictable. I couldn't put this book down once I started reading it. It's a romance book with the push and pull of relationships between a marriage, work and friends.  Subjects that everyone experiences in life make the characters very relatable. This book shows how important it is to keep on moving when life sends you hardships. I read it in two days because I had to know what happens next. Good job on your debut book. Can't wait for a sequel!

I picked it up and read this in a weekend! Not my typical genre but definitely kept my attention. Love the twist at the end - didn't see it coming! Samantha and Steve are believable characters & I love the inclusion of the dogs & evening gowns!

This book was recommended to me. I typically don't read books of this kind of content but I found it to be an interesting read. An exploration of obsession, codependency, infatuation mixed in with modern fashion scene. The story is set in Boston and Cape Cod and living in Massachusetts myself, it was enjoyable to read and get the feeling of those Massachusetts areas. The author, Conlan, did an incredible job exploring these characters and their situations. I highly recommend this book and looking to any future work from the author.

I haven't read in quite some time as I couldn't find a book that could keep my interest. Well, I met Michelle and asked about her book. I decided to try it. I could not put it down. The story line just seemed to flow. I felt like I knew all of the characters personally. I literally cried at some points. A+ for this book. A must read. Can't wait for the sequel

I finished The Camel Hair Coat in under 24 hours—I just couldn't put it down! From the very first page, I was completely invested in the characters. They felt so real, and I found myself emotionally connected to their lives right away. The story flows beautifully, and the emotional depth is incredible. I was feeling everything right alongside them. The part about Lucky had me in absolute tears—it was heartbreaking and powerful. This book made me cry, reflect, and feel deeply. If you're looking for a story that will pull you in and stay with you long after the final page, this is it. Highly recommend!

While this is technically a romance novel, I was impressed with the depth of this book. There are many layers to The Camel Hair Coat. The character development is subtle, leaving the reader wanting to know more about them. I enjoy writing that creates an atmosphere-don’t tell me it’s snowing, make me feel the cold. Conlan does that. Her prose is smooth and descriptive which moves the plot along. I love the fact that the author leaves the reader wanting more. All in all, a solid debut novel if you are looking for an atypical romance novel replete with fashion, dogs, gorgeous settings and lots of plot threads, read this book.
