I have read both Niall’s previous books Hope & Tina and when I saw that he had written a children’s edition I had to buy it to support his work with street dogs in Thailand. This book is truly amazing and written in such a perfect way telling the stories of so many beautiful dogs .. some happy endings and some sad . I cried big tears just reliving the memories of Tina. Snoop Alba that I have followed their lives on Niall’s social media for several years. His dream to build a hospital in Tina’s name is coming true and will help so many dogs in the future. Such a beautiful book and highly recommend 💖

Tina was that dog that stole his heart. He gets a picture message - these days they're always the same, pictures of dogs. A dog, thin, matted lying in it's own toileting. And it's face, just so sad. Spotted by a tourist in a part of the island Niall doesn't know, but he know he has to help NOW!
There's no RSPCA in Thailand, this dog in this state, in our country would be taken away and owners prosecuted but Niall has to negotiate with the owners to take her. She was in a worse state than he thought, they took her straight to the vets. There he realises this is no ordinary Thai street dog - this is a golden retriever. Bred for batches of puppies then left to die.
She was cleaned and called Tina after Tina Turner. Niall had fallen for her straight away, but a mistake in thinking he needed to feed her left her fighting for her life as she got bloat after the food she was given. Finally, she rallied and small regular portions began. She began to get better and look better. Niall also had his own dog Snoop, brought over from Ireland and Jumbo another stray saved.
Tina was loved by all. And she loved a tennis ball (read the book!)
But she was more ill than all of them knew and it wasn't long before she slowed down. She died, loved and surrounded by those who loved her - humans and dogs.
When he'd buried her on Happy Doggo land Niall made a promise to her - he was going to build a hospital, so he didn't have to take dogs all over the country to get treatment. So they could sterilise more street dogs to keep puppies from being born onto the street.
The book tells us more about each dog that came in, Buttons in particular went to a very rockstar home, and Niall and Happy Doggo are followed by lots of famous people. but those people who send what they can afford, the children that send their pocket money after watching videos of the dogs on YouTube, they are held with equal esteem.
Niall wants us to help all street dogs.
I loved this book, was so pleased to receive a copy from Toppsta Giveaway and I know just who I am going to give it to at school!

***November 2025 Currently Niall and his team are frantically trying to help with severe flooding across Thailand, because while not affecting them, it is affecting dogs across the flood areas.

TINA: The Dog Who Changed the World by Niall Harbison.

This is a short but deeply touching book. TINA is not about big events or dramatic storytelling, it’s about quiet love, healing, and how one rescued dog can change a human life completely. The story feels so loved and personal, written straight from experience rather than imagination with the inclusion of pictures made it more understanding and the person becomes more emotionally connected.

Tina’s journey shows how kindness works in small, everyday ways. Through her, the book talks about compassion, chances, and the silent bond between humans and animals. There are moments that make you smile and moments that make you pause, especially when you realise how much animals give without expecting anything back.

The writing is simple and heartfelt. Nothing feels exaggerated. That simplicity is what makes the emotions stronger. Tina doesn’t change the world loudly, she changes it gently, by changing one heart at a time.

This book leaves behind warmth. It reminds you why empathy matters and how love can come from the most unexpected places. A short, beautiful read .
