When Paul threatened to lock Eagle in the cellar Kane saw red, he gave Eagle the keys to his truck and told her to disappear.
When Eagle's father realised that she had gone he sent Kane to find her and bring her back.......Kane's truck had a tracker, he knew exactly where she was.

Book 1 in Obsessed Protectors Series, by Lori Laker!
While the author’s name is new, it is a pen name for one of my favorites, Jenna Gunn!
This series is quick and easy read. More bold and different than what I am used to reading of hers but I love it!
Short stories mean the story line is quick or confusing because it goes so fast, but this one definitely has a good storyline to keep you engrossed in the characters.
Kane falls in love with his boss’s daughter, Eagle, and battles with being good enough for her. Her father is controlling, manipulative, and ruthless but Kane makes sure to stay close and to give her whatever she needs.
Eagle gets scared and takes off in Kane’s truck but in her panic, she crashes and is stuck out in the cold waiting and hoping that someone comes looking for her, just not the man she was running from.
Kane is sent out to track Eagle down and bring her back for punishment from her father, he finds her but has no intention of seeing her punished.
Eagle and Kane trapped in a cabin alone are asking for trouble but once they both realize they have been battling the same dilemma, having feelings for each other, they hold nothing back taking everything from each other.

Kane is a former Navy SEAL that now works for Eagle’s father as an enforcer. He knows that there are plenty of reasons he shouldn’t act on his attraction to her. Eagle is sick and tired of her father’s control of her entire life. She runs. He follows.
This is a VERY short story. The author doesn’t develop the characters much beyond their descriptions. For example, Kane is a former SEAL, felon, has tattoos, has piercings, and does bad things for Eagle’s father. He is twice Eagle’s age. Eagle is innocent and sheltered. She is hot for Kane. All of this is established early in the story. Once Eagle runs, Kane chases and then they have a lot of adult activity. In fact, the book is mostly adult activity. The author does set up for the next book and gives information about what Kane and Eagle want to do for work in the future.
If you are looking for a quick and dirty read, give this a try. I read a lot from this author but this story wasn’t among my favorites. That being said, it will appeal to a lot of readers and I plan to read the next book in the series.

A shorter, but powerful first book in this series!!! Former SEAL Kane Matthews, has taken a job with Paul McKenna. His job is to “handle” situations as assigned by his boss and this is fine until it involves Paul’s daughter, Eagle. He has been attracted to Eagle since their first meeting and is not pleased with the way her father treats her. When she is upset, he gives her the keys to his truck in case she needs to get away. When he is ordered to find her, by her father, he doesn’t mention that he knows where she is going as his truck has a tracker. Arriving at her location, his truck is damaged…is she okay? He is relieved when he finds her, but staying, just the two of them, in a cabin is not a good idea. He knows that he is not good enough for her, but he will not allow her father to use her to influence his friends. All bets are off when her father arrives, she is staying with him and he will protect her. A complete rush from beginning to end! He is tasked with finding her when she takes off in his truck rather than calling him when she feels threatened.
He finds his truck overturned near her father's hunting cabin in the woods. They give in to their attraction and develop a relationship. They are confronted by her father and the man who threatened her, and Kane deals with both of them.
They have to navigate their developing relationship over time.
There is a HEA ending with a surprise.
The plot is great, the characters are believable. The secondary characters add interest to the story. The heat between Kane and Eagle is off the charts.

This is a quick little read that has a lot of action in a short amount of time. Kane, former SEAL, has been hired to keep an eye on the daughter, Eagle. Her father is arrogant, controlling and manipulative. He controlled her life. Kane felt protective of her after seeing what her father was like. Kane was also trying to keep her safe. Eagle wanted control of her life. She wanted to take classes and to live her life they way she wanted, not like her father wanted. Kane had to keep talking to himself about not making a move on her. He had finally figured out he wanted her in his life. How was that going to happen? He was 20 yrs. older than her. He had never felt this way before - was this love? Did Eagle have feelings toward him? Did she even know what love is? Who will win? Will love win? It’s a feisty, sassy little story.

If you like hot, possessive and very protective alpha males as well as sassy, independent and smart women who keep the men who adore them on their toes, you will love this book! Kane is trained to be a killing machine and was hired by Eagle’s father to do his bidding. Part of the job is keeping the man’s gorgeous, innocent and headstrong daughter in line, but Kane’s attraction to her has become an obsession. All he can think about is keeping young Eagle safe from her father’s machinations and claiming her for himself. He get’s the chance to do just that, and there is no going despite his being nearly twice her age. Turns out little miss innocent has turned into a tigress and very capable of holding her own when the situation calls for it against her big alpha protector.
This spicy novella has my recommendation.

This is a fast-paced novella filled with passion, obsession, steamy scenes, instalove, and emotional development. Lori Laker manages to give her readers everything you need in this quick read.
Despite the sizeable age gap, Kane and Eagle are drawn to each other. Kane is a former SEAL hired as security for Eagle’s wealthy, domineering and controlling father. Things heat up when the two are stranded in a cabin in the storm.
I don’t reveal spoilers in my reviews, so you’ll just have to read this to find out what happens!

This was another steamy read by a talented author! Her stories are always packed with chemistry between our leads. The two in question are great people and in desperate need of one another! I'm not an age gap kind of gal, but for this author? You bet! Great writing, it is solid like usual and it is a full read.
He was supposed to corral her but instead he kept her close for his own purposes.
They have a mighty attraction and good for them for giving in. I don't blush but wow! There is absolutely no doubt that they want one another and no one else even registers. I would have loved for him to confront her dad but I am happy they are together. The next book sounds so good as well so I'm waiting in anticipation for that next!

Kane is the only one concerned about Eagle's well-being. She has never experienced that before. She hasn't experienced LOTS of things, but Kane feels like he is tainted by his past and doesn't deserve to touch her.
When they get caught in a storm, lines are blurred, and Kane has to decide whether their age gap and his past mistakes are only a problem for him.
Either way, Kane will protect Eagle at any cost.
This is a quick read, high heat, tainted hero, and a good girl book that is part of a planned connected series of three. There is something to be said for a hot quickie.

Disgraced ex Navy SEAL Kane now is working for a mafia to make money to help his sister. But he falls for his boss’ daughter Eagle. The way his boss treats his daughter makes Kane mad and he wants to quit. But he can’t leave Eagle with her father and his cohort. One day he overhears the boss doesn’t let Eagle go to school, he gives Eagle the key to his truck. She soon runs away and crashes the truck. The boss sends Kane to retrieve and punish her. Kane has entirely different idea in mind. When the storm descending on them, they hide out in the boss’ remote cabin. Kane can’t resist the young curvy girl. The rest is history. The story has no shortage of testosterone and sex. I do like the hint of Kane’s comradery with ex-SEAL co-worker and love for his sister.

Kane is a 40-year-old burly, hunky, dirty-talking ex-SEAL turned private security. Eagle is the 20-year-old smart and sassy daughter of his jerk of a boss. Kane has only stayed on because of Eagle, knowing how controlling and emotionally abusive he is to her. He has tried to keep his feelings in check, but when he realizes she wants him just as much, he's done resisting. Their chemistry was pure fire and the ending was so happy after some drama. I can not wait to read Tice's story next!!.

This was a very short story, but a very steamy . This is a story about Kane, who is an ex Navy seal and he works for Paul McKenna, and is responsible for keeping Eagle, his daughter safe, but when one day Kane says to her that if she ever needed to leave in a hurry, she was to take his truck and run. They discover their feelings towards each other and kind, can’t hold himself back any longer, Eagle gives her virginity to him and they go on to live a happily ever after. Of course there’s a lot more involved in the story, but you’ll have to read it to enjoy it for yourself.

When her father forbids Eagle from going to classes, she runs and Kane, a bodyguard is sent to retrieve her.
Steamy and short with loads of chemistry and attraction going on between Kane and Eagle. She just wants to live her life away from her controlling father and his slimy friends.
Kane has had feelings for Eagle since he started working for her father and never acted on them. There is an age gap that held him back but his obsession for her can't hold him back.
Very well done. A steamy read that simple and a nice quick easy read.

This is a quick read that is packed with tension, frustration, danger, and a growing chemistry between the two main characters, Kane and Eagle. Kane is a former Navy SEAL who is fed up with his boss, Eagles' father. Eagles is tired of her father's overbearing attitude and his constant control of her life. She escapes, and her father sends Kane to bring her back as well as teach her a lesson for running away. Kane has had enough, and even though he pursues her, there is no way he will return her to her former life. This is an action-packed read from the first page to the last.

This is such a good read.
Kane is an enforcer buts not sure how much longer he can work for his current employer Paul. He knows that he can't leave Paul's daughter there alone. He has feelings for her but he knows that she's too young for him and he isn't worthy of her.
Eagle hates her life and especially the men around her father apart from Kane.
The chemistry between them is electric and when she gets scared and runs he knows where to find her.
He will keep her safe whatever it takes and there is no way she's leaving his side.
Brilliant ending.

A beautiful love story which unfolds so perfectly. For Kane, his job is to keep Eagle safe and protected, which he does willingly and lovingly. It’s his most important job and he cherishes her. Wow!! I really enjoyed reading, Kane's Kind of Trouble (Obsessive Protectors Series Book 1) by Lori Laker because it was a short insta steamy and spicy story about Kane and Eagle! These two characters were so steamy for each other. I liked Kane's possessive side to his character when it came to Eagle. He was all alpha and wanted to protect her. Eagle's character knew she wanted Kane and she knew what she wanted when it came to Kane. Loved their spicy chemistry. I received an ARC of this story and I am choosing to voluntarily leave this review. Highly recommend.

A short yet very satisfying read!
Over-protective father.
Seems he may be working on an arranged marriage for his daughter!
She's so sweet and innocent and Kane is twice her age.
And in his words, not a good man!
But, there's chemistry. Oh boy is there chemistry!
I loved the call with his sister!
The question is, will Kane's over-protective, obsessive need overtake his brain and he'll claim Eagle! (Love her name!)
I could definitely read more about this couple!

This story is steamy, fast-paced, and full of tension. Kane, a former Navy SEAL, is all alpha with a soft side, and Eagle, his boss’s defiant daughter, is strong, smart, and hard to ignore. Their chemistry is instant, and when danger forces them together, things heat up fast. The plot moves quickly with just enough drama, and the romance builds into something real. Great side characters, high heat, and a satisfying HEA with a twist.

Though written under a different name this story has all the bells and whistles I'd expect from Jenna Gunn's books. This story grabbed me from the start to the end. The characters are wonderful, and their chemistry sizzled, and the storyline has drama and spicy romance. Kane a former SEAL is hired by Paul McKenna for protection, but when he meets Eagle his daughter Kane falls hard. This attraction grows both ways. Then they give in after a storm traps them. What will they do when Eagle's father finds out? I'd volunteer to read and review this highly enjoyable story I'd received a copy.

This is the story of Eagle and Kane. A story about the age difference. Kane works for her father and is not only a Seal but also an enforcer. Despite the age difference, he has feelings for her and fights them, but it's not easy, and the same goes for Eagle. Her father is a domineering and controlling man whom I didn't really like. When something happens, she flees in Rourck's truck, and he immediately follows her to find out what happened and to protect her.

Kane is a man on fire! Eagle, the much younger object of his lustful love has pushed him right over the edge of sanity and he is done holding back. Every filthy thought he has about Eagle is spelled out for all to read in this extra spicy novella and it is hot! Jenna Gunn aka Lori Laker always tells a great story and although I prefer a longer, more in-depth story, Kane's Kind of Trouble is pretty well-rounded and a very enjoyable read. 4.5 stars.

If you like instalove over the top alpha novellas, then you are sure to enjoy this read. It’s by a well know author under a new penname, and though I don’t usually read short reads, because I never feel I get enough going on in them. I have to say the author has done a good job with this one. There’s just enough action to hold your attention, and let you while away an hour if that’s all the time you have spare. Looking forward to book two now.
