A girl disappears. A sewer pipe explodes. Reporter Babe Lincoln smells something rotten. Armed with a box of shredded files and a trail of odd clues, Babe heads to Canada with her glamorous sidekick, B-movie starlet Ariana Barbeau.

The trail leads to a cottage on Bear Lake near the offbeat village of Moosetown. The captive has attitude. The parrot won’t shut up. And the kidnapper struts like a rooster between costume changes.

Lies pile up. Truth slips sideways. Babe must decide how far she’ll go and what she’s willing to risk to finish her story. Killing Them Again is a satirical thriller about buried truths, twisted power, and the women who refuse to be silenced.

Killing Them Again, is the inaugural winner of the first AI-judged writing competition presented by MyPoolitzer, Quantifiction, and Blue Denim Press.

“Killing Them Again” is a satirical thriller that moves at a mile-a-minute pace. The plot takes the colourful cast of characters across the border into Canada to the small, off the beaten track of Moosetown in search of – or to prevent the discovery of – a kidnapped woman.

The lively collection of flamboyant characters are in constant conflict. Determined Reporter Babe Lincoln, B-movie Starlet Ariana Barbeau, a corrupt police chief and detective, a mayor with a dirty secret and his slick, power-behind-the throne personal assistant, and several others.

Buried truths are unearthed along the way as a web of lies and corruption threaten the unlikely heroine. “Killing Them Again” ends a way you would never expect turning all your assumptions upside down.

Once you start into Dave Vaughan’s Killing Them Again, you’ll barely catch a breath. The pace is dizzying and page-turning, and the characters leap off the page in all their wonderful weirdness. From Babe Lincoln, the reporter on a mission, to corrupt cops and politicians, a costume-challenged kidnapper, and even a loquacious parrot called Risqué, everyone is larger than life and seems to have a hidden agenda. A labyrinth of deeds, misdeeds and misunderstandings is revealed, and Vaughan keeps us guessing and intrigued right to the very end.
