Moira Ashe grew up in a sleepy bayou town nestled along the misty banks of the Mississippi River, just a short drive from the haunting charm of New Orleans. Raised on ghost stories and Southern folklore, she developed a taste for the eerie and unexplained at an early age. She immersed herself in the rich history of the bayous, learning to fear the crafty Rougarou and respect Voodoo priestesses such as the late Julia Brown. From roaming the halls of a haunted plantation to exploring the unnerving swamps at night, she embraces the unknown like an old friend. When she's not galavanting with ghosts or prowling oddity shops for the perfect vintage skull, Moira is conjuring up supernatural horror novels steeped in atmosphere, mystery, and a healthy dose of dread. ECHOES OF BETRAYAL is a double wave of death that should ruminate in the mind for a bit before analyzing it. On the surface, it's a supernatural psychological slasher. However, on further examination, it's a well-structured nightmare that probes cycles of relationships, misunderstandings, missed red flags, life, death, revenge, and anger that carries into the afterlife. The characters are all well-crafted and believably their own people. The plot may leave one wondering at first, but, as the story unfolds, there is a connection and impetus for everything, even when the motivations are only hinted at. This story will leave the reader feeling helpless.

My only criticism is an occasional mixing of tenses, but it happens seldom enough not to interfere with the conjured tenor of the whole.

This book is a nightmare that spawns nightmares that become waking nightmares.

Did not expect the story to start how it did, especially with the cover. It's a supernatural psychological horror based on multiple traumatic events leading up to the inciting event. A cycle abuse in a once stable relation unravels to reveal the overarching mystery in a satisfying way.

This book genuinely unnerved me and I read a lot of horror. What Moira Ashe achieves here isn’t just telling a ghost story; it’s creating an environment where everything feels slightly wrong. From the first night in the woods, I found myself hyper-aware of every creak, shadow, and stray thought. One of the strongest elements is how the protagonist’s new home becomes a character of its own. The house feels lived in, scarred, and hungry in a way that reminded me of Shirley Jackson’s Hill House, but with a far more feral edge. The descriptions of the woods are stunning, eerie, beautiful, and claustrophobic all at once.

It's hard to believe that Moira Ashe is new to the writing game. Echoes of Betrayal is one hell of a debut, and after reading this dark, fantastical tale, I'm itching for more from this talented author. Without dropping any spoilers, I will say that Echoes of Betrayal is a hauntingly beautiful, dark, and sexy read. The way this book is written captivates its readers from beginning to end. The storyline is unpredictably interesting, to say the least. I highly recommend giving this book a chance; you won't be disappointed. 5/5

What a fantastic supernatural horror novel! As a debut book, Moira Ashe's writing really stands out and builds suspense as both drama and thrills fill every chapter. I felt what Alyssa was going through, especially with my own past when it comes to abuse and trauma. I urged the main character on every step of the way, but the end of Part 1 was so unexpected! And then Part 2 took a new turn I did not see coming.

Echoes of Betrayal is a haunting story you won't want to miss, especially if you love reading ghost tales where things turn out differently than what you may expect. I love that ending...it's perfect.

Kudos to Moira Ashe for a story I won't soon forget. I look forward to her future releases!
