He braids her hair for school. Packs lunches with color-coded notes. Holds her through middle school drama and midnight nightmares.

Navy Corpsman and single father Nathan Crawford has been his daughter's whole world for eleven years—and he's damn good at it. As an ER nurse, he saves lives for a living, but he couldn't save the little girl who died in his arms in Fallujah, and he's never forgiven himself. Still, he's built a life for him and Paige that's safe. Controlled. Predictable.

Then Tasha Williams joins the ER team.

Sharp-tongued, fiercely competent, and completely unimpressed by his carefully maintained walls, Tasha challenges everything Nate thought he knew about keeping people at a safe distance. She sees through his military precision to the man underneath—the one who sings lullabies at midnight and builds color-coded science fair projects. When a crisis with Paige brings them together outside the hospital, Nate begins to wonder if maybe, just maybe, he doesn't have to carry everything alone.

But just as their unlikely family begins to heal old wounds, the past comes calling. Paige's biological mother—the woman who walked away when Paige was three months old—returns with lawyers, money, and a plan to destroy everything Nate has built. Sarah Davis claims she's changed. She says she's ready to be a mother. But what she really wants is far more calculated.

Suddenly, eleven years of bedtime stories and scraped knees mean nothing in a courtroom. When Sarah's high-powered attorneys threaten to paint his PTSD as a liability, Nate realizes he's not just fighting for custody... he's fighting for the right to be the father Paige deserves. With Tasha by his side and everything he loves at stake, Nate must learn that sometimes the greatest act of courage isn't charging into battle.

Sometimes it's believing you're worth fighting for.

Hovering just below 4 stars. Rounded up.

Blake shines when she writes about medicine and the military—those scenes feel lived in, layered, and completely immersive (thanks to her’s and her husband’s real-life experience). The story itself is creative and emotional, with vivid characters and a strong central theme of healing and found family.

The pacing was a little uneven in parts — time jumps happened so fast in places it was easy to lose track, then the story would slow. Once Nate and Tasha’s relationship deepened, the ER setting vanished almost entirely, which was a shame since those hospital scenes were some of the book’s best. A few repetitive beats, but the third-act custody battle and its resolution were excellent—tense, heartfelt, and satisfying.

I didn’t love this quite as much as book one, but it’s still a moving read in a great series. I’m absolutely in for book three.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, provided by Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op via Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
3.5 stars.
A captivating romance between two vibrant and devoted ER professionals, “No Greater Love”, by Cari Blake, is about this sentimental relationship but also about the love for a sweet precocious preteen.
I liked the characters and how the relationships evolved; I appreciated the honesty between Nathan and Tasha. Paige and Nathan are so sweet…
I enjoyed the uncomplicated dimension of the romance and building a new family, but sometimes I felt it progressed too quickly.
Watching the small family doing things together and enjoying the companionship was enjoyable.
I thought Nathan’s PTSD was depicted well with the lingering emotional and mental pain, anxiety and guilt associated.
I liked the veracity of the ER scenes, and the professionalism, dedication and humanity the emergency personnel show.
Sometimes the leads’ voices seemed too similar; I felt there was some naiveté in Nathan when dealing with Paige’s mother reappearance.

For the Second book in the Code Blue Hearts series,Tasha is still one of my favorite characters and I love her sass and quick comebacks. Nate is the perfect hero-strong, dependable, and his military scenes were incredibly powerful. Paige was such a joy and her connection with Tasha made me smile every time.

This book flowed even more smoothly than the first, and once Sarah showed up the story pulled me in completely. I also really enjoyed the way the emotional and romantic moments were balanced throughout.

Overall, this was an engaging and heartfelt read with characters I truly care about. I’m excited to keep following this author because she has a real gift for bringing relationships to life on the page.

I love their chemistry and the support they have for the whole relationship. The connection is believable and the depth of the characters is significant. I enjoyed the hospital ER examples and funny situations too. I hope there is another one after this.

In No Greater Love by Cari Blake, the story follows Nate Crawford, a former Navy medic turned ER nurse, as he tries to balance the chaos of the emergency room with the challenges of raising his eleven-year-old daughter, Paige. His life takes an unexpected turn when he meets Tasha Williams, a sharp, compassionate fellow nurse who challenges his guarded heart and stirs feelings he thought he’d buried long ago. What begins as mutual respect between colleagues transforms into a deeply emotional journey of love, trust, and healing. As Nate and Tasha navigate workplace pressures, past traumas, and the complications of single parenthood, they discover that love is not only about passion but about showing up through fear, hardship, and everything life throws their way. Cari Blake weaves a heartfelt narrative that explores courage, compassion, and second chances without ever relying on melodrama or cliché.

No Greater Love by Cari Blake completely captivated me with its sincerity and emotional depth. As someone drawn to stories that balance romance with realism, I found the characters refreshingly human and layered. Nate’s quiet strength and Tasha’s fierce compassion made them feel like people I could truly know. I loved how their relationship evolved naturally; full of imperfections, humor, and honesty that mirrored a real-life connection. Blake’s writing flows so effortlessly; the dialogue feels authentic, the pacing steady without ever dragging, and the medical scenes vivid but never overcomplicated. What impressed me most was how Blake handled complex topics like racism, trauma, and single parenthood with care and empathy. The novel’s emotional peaks were powerful yet grounded, leaving me both somewhat emotional and hopeful. No Greater Love is not just a romance—it’s a story about building a family, finding grace amid struggle, and learning that vulnerability can be its own kind of strength. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I loved it. I really enjoyed book 1 but this just hit so different. I personally found Tasha and Nathan and Paige more compelling characters. I could rate this 4/5 because some of the phrasing was repetitive, it had a couple of edges the needed smoothing. but im still rating it 5/5 because it had all the feeling. Sometimes, when you combine bio families and found family, there's an imbalance or the joining doesn't feel natural. in this the combination of a family being built by action and love, with the meeting of bio families and work friends who become family, gave this book and series more life.

Tasha literally bloomed off the page. It's been a few months since I arc'd book 1 so when it clicked that she was the nurse who helped Nate at the end of book one, I was locked in for a development which was very well done.

Nate was the epitome of an Iceberg character; what you see on the surface is minimal to what lives below. He was a mountain of man, both in stature, heart, dedication, loyalty, and love.

Paige. Man I love a well written child. It's hard to get right. Often they aren't written age appropriately. Even more often the child's demeanor and personality don't reflect their environment or upbringing. She is, by far, one of my favorite child characters I've read in a long time... maybe ever. She's smart, intuitive, strong, courageous, loving.> ALL THE ADJECTIVES< I love her. she was amazing.

This will be on my reread rotation.

This series has me in a full chokehold—I listened to the ALC for book one, immediately requested the ARC for book three, and bought this one without hesitation. Cari Blake’s writing is immersive, polished, and emotionally grounded, especially in the ER and military scenes, which feel authentic and lived-in without ever pulling you out of the story.
Nathan is the emotional core of the book. A devoted single father, veteran, and ER nurse carrying PTSD with quiet strength and humility, he completely stole my heart. Watching him raise his brilliant, perceptive daughter Paige—who steals every scene she’s in with her humor and insight—was one of my favorite parts of the story. Paige adds so much warmth and realism that the book truly feels like a family story, not just a romance.
Tasha is a strong, capable counterpart, and the chemistry between her and Nathan builds naturally through shared experiences, mutual respect, and long ER shifts. While the romance occasionally moves a little quickly, the emotional connection, found-family dynamics, and workplace support system make it feel genuine and earned. The story doesn’t shy away from trauma, allowing space for healing while still delivering heart, humor, and hope. The ER scenes are vivid and realistic, the emotional beats land, and yes—“twat waffle” made me laugh out loud.
If you enjoy emotionally rich medical romance with believable characters, found family, and writing that knows when to hit hard and when to soften the blow, this one delivers.

No Greater Love by Cari Blake was my first experience reading this author’s work and now I’m reading the first book in the Code Blue Hearts Series because I enjoyed this one so much. That being said, I think both books can be read as standalones, but I think I would have appreciated the dynamic among these characters more if I had read them in order–wish I had! There are several heros in this book but I have to say Nathan is the one who really pulled at my heartstrings. I have a real profound admiration for all those who serve our beautiful country and put their lives on the line so we can enjoy the freedom that has been bought for us by these very courageous, brave men and women. I loved his humility and his big heart. Add in how he raised his very intelligent and precocious daughter Paige and that’s why he’s my favorite character. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy Tasha and her very interesting background and family interactions because I did – she was a force to be reckoned with for sure! And Paige is funny, cute and a very perceptive 11-year-old. It’s also obvious Ms. Blake knows the medical and military aspects of this novel because these scenes were very well written and realistic. I could have done without the open-door romantic scenes because I prefer closed-door, but it didn’t detract from the overall enjoyment of this read. I’m very grateful to NetGalley to have been given an opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.

When I read the first book in this series Under Southern Stars, I said that “I can’t wait to read the second book in this series! Now having read this second book, it was just as amazing as I had hoped. Single dad and emergency room nurse, Nathan Crawford, has been raising his eleven-year-old daughter, Paige, on his own. Her mother left when Paige was three months old and has made no effort to see her. A former military corpsman, Nate has cared for Paige while, at times, dealing with PTSD from his time in the military. He works with a wonderful staff including his supervisor Sophia and fast track nurse, Tasha. When he speaks up for Tasha, against a racial slur, it puts him in a bit of trouble. Tasha is used to being seen as a loner, but her interest in Nate comes to a head when she helps Paige with a personal issue and decides to ask him on a date. They soon are spending time together, meeting her family. Out of the blue, he receives a request from Paige’s mother to meet her. She now wants to be involved in Paige’s life, after years of silence. When she decides to take him to court, he has no choice but to defend himself, but soon realizes that he is facing an uphill battle. The courthouse scene is fantastic as Nate has Tasha and friends who will stand by him. Now I am eagerly awaiting the third book! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

This was actually a pretty good book. I do have mixed feeling about the story. The first half of the book was basically introducing you to the characters and some of the situations that the nurses have to go thru when working in a trauma unit/ER of the hospital. You will learn the background of why Nate suffers from PTSD from his military days. You will also meet Nate's 11 year old daughter, Paige. What an absolute dream child!! You will witness Nate and Tasha, a nurse that works with Nate, circle around each other, fall in love and navigate a bi-racial relationship. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. It isn't until well into the second half of the book before Paige's biological mom, who abandoned Paige when she was 3 months old shows up and challenges Nate for custody of Paige. I enjoyed most of this story. That being said, I wish the author would have spent more time telling about the actual court process, the mind set of the parties involved. The mind set of Paige's biological mom. The underhanded tactics of the lawyer. I would have enjoyed the story so much more with a deeper drive into the custody fight than the drama of the hospital.

No Greater Love is a perfect romance novel for those who love prime time medical drama shows. This novel combines a perfect combination of expertly written emergency room medicine smoothly combined with a steamy romance between veteran, single dad Nate and Tasha, who is emotionally reserved except for when it comes to Nate's eleven-year-old daughter, Paige. Through the story, we get to see Tasha and Nate grow as a couple as they overcome challenges, including the return of Paige's bio mom who abandoned her at a few weeks old.

The medical and military scenes in this novel are very well written. It's clear that the author is in her wheelhouse here and it shows in each scene. The banter between the main characters is funny and cute, and I really enjoyed eleven-year-old Paige. I did feel that Paige was written at times as a younger child than her eleven years - I felt like I was reading a five- or six-year-old girl instead of a pre-teen.

This book was an enjoyable read and I look forward to future books in this series.

Thank you to NetGalley, Victory Editing, and Cari Blake for an eARC of this novel.

No Greater Love by Cari Blake ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Back in the ER is where book 2 takes us. Cari Blake does a great job writing emergency medicine, a little military and thrown in for good measure sweet romance.

It's what many would consider everyday issues. Trying to balance daily life, work, a single father , a child and a romance , it's not a walk in the park. It's hard, it takes everything you have to more beyond the obstacles called the past. It's in the past for a reason now work on the present and the future.

If this sounds good to you and it's your genre I recommend this book. It is book 2 but can stand alone and I'm looking forward to reading book 3.

Single dad, ER Nurse, and a Veteran with PTSD, Nate has a job he loves. is coping with the PTSD and loves his daughter Paige to distraction!

Middle daughter, New ER Nurse, and single, Tasha is finding her footing in the ER...which includes eye rolls and attitude.

Nate is Tasha's preceptor/trainer in the ER and butt heads when they first are getting to know each other. Nate is perfect and she doesn't feel she'll ever measure up. When a babysitting SNAFU has Nate brining Paige to work with him, Tasha steps up and saves the day. Paige's devotion to all things Tasha, after she once again save the day, brings Nate and Tasha closer.

With things going well, another person enters the equation and is trying to break up this family!

I so enjoyed this book. This is Book 2 in the Code Blue Hearts series and is a standalone. There is mention of some of the characters from Book 1, but you don't need to read it to understand this story.

This is a charged good read! The story of Nate, a vet turned nurse who is parenting his tween, Paige, while dealing with PTSD will bring the reality of military life. Everything changes when Tasha arrives in the ER, she is a fierce and caring nurse who will challenge Nate, and start to unravel some of this secrets. Their chemistry is natural and sweet, they work together in the ER but also at trying to build a home for Paige. She helps him deal with his past, while healing each others wounds. That is until Sarah appears back in his life, and will challenge everything.

The drama in this book is poignant, and will break your heart at times, but also the mature characters will be so relatable that will make you want to hug them. A great read!.

Nathan Crawford is a top ER nurse who has been his 11 year old daughter's sole carer since her mother walked out on the three month old baby. He still has some nightmares from his time as a medic in the military, but he has built a great life for his daughter. Then he starts to notice nurse Tasha Williams. Tasha is a superb nurse who attracts nate's attention with her skills. Then she helps look after Paige when Nate has a childcare situation. Their relationship is developing well, but then Paige's mother reappears and wants custody.

Nate will need the help of his work family to protect his family.

This is the second one of Cari's books I have read and I can't recommend her highly enough. The books are a great read, error free and I love the characters.

No Greater Love is a great introduction to a new to me author and this was an heartwarming story. I really like Cari's writing style, the pacing of Nate & Tasha's story was wonderful and hooked me in from the start. The characters and the storyline is very well written filled with so many emotions, combat PTSD, healing, action, drama, found family and romance. I'm admittedly a little biased, but this was a fantastic story that absolutely doesn't pull any punches, either on the emotional front, or on the setting front. If you want to know what it's like in a real, active emergency department, this is it. Even better than "The Pitt". Coupled with an incredible story (and I appreciate the author isn't afraid to "go there" with making statements), truly great and heartwarming romance.

I read an advanced copy of this book.

Best rollercoaster I’ve ridden — it hit all the right emotions at the right time. Between Tasha, Nathan, Paige & Sarah’s persona, this book is so well written with very realistic scenes.
This is the first book I read by Cari Blake, and now I’ve added the first book in the series to my TBR and hoping to also read book 3, which is set to be released early next year.

Thank you NetGalley, Victory Editing NetGalley Co-Op & Cari Blake for this ARC.

From Triage to Triumph: A Five-Star Read

You know the book is good when you have to take mini breaks while reading to regroup. These breaks came after well written one scenes as well as anxiety inducing conflict. I literally messaged the author about 2/3 or the way through because I was on such an emotional roller coaster and was beyond frustrated with one of the characters. That's how I know the book is well written: I'm emotionally invested!

I'm ready for round three!!!

I'll be honest, this book had me in tears at points because it doesn't pull any punches, but the ending! At the, and I can't spoil it, at the end I went "YES!" out loud, really loudly! And again, this is probably the most accurate look at what an emergency department/medicine/nursing looks like than almost any book I've ever read.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC review of this book!

Twat waffle made me laugh out loud! Definitely learned a new term with this book.
But seriously— the characters are so well described, you fall in love immediately and feel like you are part of the family. This book has ups and downs and you feel them all! Cari Blake has outdone herself with this book and I can’t wait to read the Christmas book and Burn Notice.

This is a rollercoaster of emotions. I loved the story but also broke my heart. I loved the characters, they don't feel 2 dimensional and the tension is realistic. I loved the romance as well.

This is Nate and Tasha's story.
Two nurses who work in the ER together.
Work like a well-oiled machine.
The relationship changes from colleagues to much more drawn together by Nates daughter who hasn't had a mother since she was 3 months old.
