Running for her life after being attacked in an alley by two men, daughter of a former slave and a Native American chief Camille finds herself caught fast in the arms of former confederate soldier Jake Garrett. After protecting her from her pursuing attackers, Jake agrees to travel with Camille as her bodyguard on an upcoming trip. He couldn't know that he would soon owe his life to her.
Brought together by chance, they became bound to one another by duty, or at least that’s what they told themselves. It wasn’t until they began to make a life with one another that the world came rushing in to tear them apart.
My name is Amber Mosby....I've been writing short stories since I was six years old. I wrote my first novel when I was 16 and spent the next 8 years editing it.
I have 2 B.A.s from San Francisco State University and I am now living out my days in Fontana Ca, hopefully they will be spent writing more books that people want to read.
This is a historical romance that will surely get you captivated from the very start. This is a story of a young woman, Camille, who was taken away from her family and have been trying to find herself back home. Fate has crossed their path and was bound to each other. Without giving too much away, Camille was attacked by two guys who were part of a notorious group. When she was able to get away from her attackers, Camille stumbled across Jake Garett. With Jake's assistance, Camille was able to escape her attackers. Unlike Camille who was trying to locate her past, Jake was running away from his. To find her past, Camille has requested for Jake to accompany her. Their journey to find her past has brought them together. This book is so captivating with full of very strong and interesting characters. There are so many twists and turns in this book that just made me want to know what happen next. Actually I didn't get much sleep as I was just too caught up with the book. Amber Mossby, author, was able to transport me to another world. I like both main characters and couldn't help myself falling in love with Jake. There are a few steamy scenes which spice up the book. The only thing I didn't like; there are a few errors in the book which should have been picked up at editing. However as I was too interested in the story line, I was able to overlook these. I give this book five hearts.

I loved this story! Jake was a sexy alpha male and Camille was empowering but also womanly. They had great chemistry and I really liked their realistic relationship. Both their personalities were strong so it made sense that they argued so much and were so passionate. I really loved watching them develop together.
Jake's brothers were very interesting characters and I liked how quick Nate and Camille bonded. At first I was a bit confused on who exactly Susan was because the way she's introduced made it sound like she was a friend of Jake's mother's and Susan was like a cougar. It was a bit fuzzy on the subject of Susan being Jake's fiancée. I was confused on whether they were engaged or not. Susan made for a good conflict. I enjoyed that Jake's mother wasn't judgemental and accepted Camille quickly.
Both Jake's and Camille's back stories are interesting. They were individually unique and I find it made their characters more relative to readers. Such heavy subjects were displayed in this story, but they were delivered in a way that they didn't dominate the story and take away from the plot.
Camille's family and tribe members were a great idea. Very different and interesting to read about. I loved reading about Camille's personal life and I liked that we saw some of Jake in Camille's native life.
I loved that Jake cherished Camille and Camille did cute things like wear his shirts and play with his hair. Their sex was amazing and even though there was lots of it, I find it is crucial to the story as it shows that they belong together. I loved that Camille gets pregnant because that's a good twist to put in there and I got giddy at the image of a baby Jake. Sometimes I wish the pace was a bit slower. I wanted to see Jake and Camille go through her pregnancy together, and see the way Jake would treat her (like him rubbing her back/stomach/feet or even helping get her dressed, etc). I would have liked if there was a sequel where we could have experienced her first child grow up and her other pregnancies. As well as be there for her amazing father's death. I felt the ending was rushed because so much important stuff happened and we didn't get to fully experience it.
I enjoyed the setting and the different cultures/living styles in the story. The side characters were interesting and the plot twist about Jake's father was interesting. I adored Camille's brother, he was so protective and brotherly. I also enjoyed that Jake could tell Camille was upset if she went to take a bath. I thought that was a comical way to show that they really knew each other.
There were quite a lot of grammar and punctuation and something was wrong with it on my kindle app. I'd have to often change my font size because the ending to sentences wouldn't be on the next page where they should have been. I was also a bit confused for quite a while on Jake's background with slaves. It's hinted at a few times in the beginning and it annoyed me sometimes that we had to wait so long to find out that his family actually did own slaves. I think that if it's made clear in the beginning it would help readers know exactly what Jake's past was like. Also, in the beginning, the point of the story wasn't really clear. I think it would be better if Camille says straight up that she plans to go to find her father. Instead, we're pulled along a few lost-feeling pages where it felt like the author didn't really know what the plot was going to be, and then eventually decided that Camille would tell Jake she was taking him with her to her father's tribe.
Overall, this story was awesome and if there ever was a sequel I'd definitely read it!
As my first attempt to write a historical romance I recognize that I struggled with the voice of the characters, but Camille is one of my favorites. She jumped up in my mind and wouldn't shake loose no matter how much I tried. Her story was important to me and Jake was just the kind of hero she needed.
The book has really strong points with tough decisions that must be made in order for there to be any real substance to the story. This isn't exactly a typical love story and that's why I enjoyed writing it so much
Yummy and hott. Two best words to describe this book. I don't normally enjoy historical books...I'm not big into that genre for some reason but this one caught me and held me and made me read it until it was over. The author has a way with words that is amazing. The characters were so tasty ;) and I really enjoyed the storyline. I cannot wait to see what else this author writes. Very good and I recommend it to everyone who enjoys a good romance.
