Review: Prior by Joshua Fagan

🔍 Overview
Joshua Fagan’s Prior is a mind-bending speculative fiction novel that blurs the lines between memory, identity, and the consequences of altering the past. With a narrative that oscillates between psychological depth and sci-fi intrigue, Fagan crafts a story that challenges readers to question the very fabric of reality.

✨ Key Strengths
🌀 Conceptual Brilliance – The novel’s exploration of time, memory, and alternate realities is both intellectually stimulating and emotionally resonant.
🧠 Psychological Depth – Protagonists grapple with existential dilemmas, making their journeys deeply personal and universally relatable.
⏳ Pacing & Suspense – Fagan masterfully balances slow-burn introspection with bursts of high-stakes action, keeping readers hooked.
🖋️ Prose & Atmosphere – The writing is crisp yet evocative, immersing readers in a world that feels hauntingly familiar yet unsettlingly alien.

⚠️ Considerations
🔮 Complexity – The nonlinear narrative and metaphysical themes may require patience from readers who prefer straightforward storytelling.
🎭 Character Arcs – While the protagonist shines, some secondary characters feel underdeveloped, leaving emotional connections uneven.

Prior is a knockout punch of literary prowess. Vince Pryor has a gift that skyrocketed him to GBC light heavyweight championship status. Joshua Fagan expertly weaves this haunting science-fiction tale of avarice, competition, romance, and revenge. After shielding himself from any serious relationships pro boxer Pryor’s character development takes him to a place of realization of what truly matters. It’s a well-balanced novel that hooked me from the first paragraph. The pacing was amazing with well-crafted characters. The end was surprising; I would never have predicted that outcome! As a reader I predict this book will skyrocket to best-seller status. Some adult language and violence but generally suitable for a wide variety of readers. I highly recommend reading it!
